Into The Veils of Mist

Game Master TheDragonMistress

A super cool homebrew setting with high level characters, who doesn't like that?

Hidy Ho Everyone! I'm looking for a group that's willing to start off really slow (Maybe getting posts from me once a week)--at least until August of 2019. I have a job that will be eating up most of my time this Summer, so please be patient.

Please note that this is all in good fun, there may be 18+ content, I ask you be above that age. Also, I ask you be in a similar timezone as me GMT-7. This is a high level campaign (Starting at level 5).

New players are welcomed.

Please use this to apply, 3 people will ultimately be chosen by DM.

Dotting for interest, I will submit a full application later. I'm GMT-5, fairly new to Pathfinder but loving every aspect of it, and am over 18. I've never been part of a homebrew and am extremely interested in playing one. I am extremely flexible as far as character builds go, so I'd like to ask what source materials we can look at for race/class?

I was hoping to stick to just PhB for classes, but spells and races can be pulled from any official content (within reason).

Then I'm looking at a CG Catfolk ranger or a TN Catfolk rogue. If you as a GM have a preference, I'll submit the application for whichever your preference is, and either way I'll have an application in a few hours.

Edited rogue race. Dhampir can be just too edgy.

Feel free to submit both. Dhampir would be a bit more interesting in the setting, but you will receive a tad more backlash (so it would be more fluff if you're into that).

Oooo, in that case! I shall submit both

Also, Dm me once your character is approved so I can introduce the lore and we can work on a backstory. I plan to interlope your character's backstories often.

I've always wanted to run a Dhampir cleric in an all Dhampir party. Neutral alignment and channeling negative energy. ??

I was hoping for a bit of variety, just because of the world setting.

Sounds like a fun game to get in on the ground floor. Have been playing Pathfinder since it first came out and have been playing RPG's since the late 70's. Willing to play whatever is needed, but was thinking of a simple warrior (fighter). Are we allowed to use archetypes? Would love to hear about what your world is like...are you using the published Pathfinder world with your own additions or a completely new land!! Whichever it is, I would love the chance to play!!

Thanks

This sounds like fun! I have been playing Pathfinder since the Beta test, 10ish years ago. I am in my mid-30s. I am in Central Time Zone, so GMT-6

Lendal: Human Monk mid 20’s

Gornash: Half-Orc Barbarian late teens

Question: How fleshed out is the world? Will this be something we will be building as we go, or is it a world already created?

To Answer your question, the world is very young, but created already.

@TheDragonMistress exciting! If chosen I am excited to explore these lands that you have created.

Can we get any more detail on the setting? Even just a rough sketch? Will this be a sandbox or more railroady? Either one is fine; just curious.

Hello everyone, sorry to be a little secretive, I will be dropping a map in a second, lemme me give a small history of Osiris (The world name).

About 5'500 years ago, civilization began to arise on the earth--at least that's the oldest written text that we have. It is said four kings ruled over the lands at the time--all brothers. Eventually one got power hungry and killed two of his brothers, forcing his brother to make an alliance with a dragon and restore peace.

Now the world is split into 14 factions, all based on whoever is the oldest civilization (Oldest gets more land). You will be starting in the Faction of Andora.

LOL! THAT is brilliant.

O' valiant #2 pencil, how many great uses you had apart from test taking...

It sounds like there are a lot of races available--are there any PF races that *aren't* available? How do the races interact? Is each faction a melting pot or are they split along racial lines?

All races are available (official content, though). But just like Pathfinder's world, the more exotic your race is, the more you risk for racial discrimination. There is a few Race exclusive factions. The faction of Huswela is a predominantly Elven society, and the Faction of The Grumar Isles is an evil land--devils, tieflings, and criminals escape there.

This is all so intriguing. And I'm perfectly fine with interloping in the backstory; I'm pretty good at coming up with personalities based on events and playing those out, but maybe not so good at coming up with the events themselves.

Well this sounds really cool. I'm a little puzzled about another thing; how will you select players if all we're telling you is a race and a class?

Regardless, consider me interested; I will answer the questions that I can. :)

Liberty's Edge

Very intriguing!!!!

So other than the items I have sent already, do you need anything...like the finished crunch?? How are we doing our stats? Roll or points??

Look forward to this!

Also, there are three other Factions, but they are too small for the Map.

I'd assume Andora is one of those smaller factions?

Yes.

I would like a good character concept finished. Also, I want my players to decide if they would like to either roll or do point buy.

I'm a much bigger fan of point buy than rolling myself.

To expand on my character concepts, Roxxanne, the Dhampir rogue, despite being born during the day under the blessings of a priest, was still ridiculed by society and, having to fend for herself, took up the arts of subtlety, manipulation, and doing whatever it takes to survive. As she grew older, she made the choice to distance herself from her evil heritage that she honed her skills from, and decided to stop using those skills to hurt people and instead took a more neutral stance, not going out of her way to hurt people, but not going out of her way to help, either. I'm leaning at either a LN or TN alignment.

For Minerva, the concept is admittingly vague. A ranger with a reverence for life and freedom, accompanied by a wolf [open for change] hunting partner, living off of the [insert surrounding landscape] on the fringes of society, not unsociably, just having a more firm attachment to nature than to structured society. Leaning at CG alignment.

Liberty's Edge

Either is fine with me...

As for my submission, please see the spoiler below.

Background:

The character was a member of a family whose grandfather had received land for military service. With a number of brothers and sisters, he decided to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and take up the sword and a mercenaries life. With the clan head's blessing (his Grandfather) he approached a company and was hired on for his first 4-year hitch. Over time he has worked for several major mercenary companies and many smaller ones. Most recently the band he was with was defeated by a larger force and the company disbanded. While they were able to buy all their member's freedom, he was left with only his gear and a few coins to make his way.

For the record, I prefer point buy because the standard rolling options give a few people the outliers, either really bad or really good. There's no way to recover from abysmal attributes in this game engine, and, honestly, attributes that far outshine your peers reduce the feeling of risk too much for me.

Normally, I like to know enough about the setting so I can build somebody FROM the setting as opposed to somebody IN the setting. I;m betting the factions aren't lead by the same sorts of governments. Is it all Western European in structure and appearance, or are there traces of Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Native Americans, the Middle East, etc? Are any of those actually tied to specific races (Jinni-Kin being only Middle-Eastern, for example)?

I've been playing Tabeltop RPGs since 1979, and have been working with variations of 3.0 (including Pathfinder) since 3.0 was released.

I'm GMT-5.

Nearly any race, but PHB classes only? I'll have to see if inspiration strikes otherwise, but am always amazed at how undervalued Fighter is. No, Fighters are NOT DPS machines, but they are the masters of the battlefield . . .. Or they were until all the additional book sales kept watering down their capabilities by introducing entirely new feat chains and rules saying the old feats can't do what the new feats do . . ..

Spells and races from (basically) any Paizo source, so I assume the same for Feats and class expansions (like Advanced Weapon/Armor Training options)?

I'm always up for homebrew content, leads to stronger DMing I think!

Character Name: Waiting for Class/Race choice.
Gender: 1d2 ⇒ 1 Male
Age: 18 + 1d6 ⇒ 18 + (1) = 19
Race: Kobold or Human, DM/Party's choice.
Class: Wizard or Rogue, whichever's needed.

------------------------

Experience: Played Pathfinder for about three years, started Pbp almost two months ago.
Over 18: Yup, and can legally drink too!
Timezone: -8 Pacific

I like rolling to see what RP challenges can arise, but point buy is perfectly fine too. Let's have some fun.

@Origami Dog, @hustonj,

I would like you to know I have 3 players and I decided to supply an NPC, I will consider another player, but I need the full crunch. They currently have a Bard, Barb, and a Druid.

Story:
Markus was always a troublemaker as a child, he would pick fights and steal from other kids. His parents certainly didn’t approve and were relieved when he just up and left one day. A natural born liar, Markus grew more subtle with his thefts as he aged. He took to confidence games and rigged gambling, but never shied away from a fight. Up until his mid twenties, Markus was remarkably successful. At the age of twenty four, it all came crashing down as he was caught cheating at a high profile gambling hall.

He was lucky, a few greased palms here and there kept him from the gallows, but he still faced 20 years in prison. Or he should have, for after about 5 years of planning and biding his time, Markus made his escape. He killed on the guards and started a prison riot, fleeing in the confusion. By the time the local guard had cleaned up the mess, the man who started it all was long gone.

For the next 5 years, he took up the identity Tiberius Finley, a traveling amateur magician. The guard have been on the look out even today, but have yet to catch the thief. His stolen spellbooks and quick hands have given him a comfortable lifestyle that he still maintains today.

A physical powerhouse, Markus stands at 6’4 and 256 lbs. However, a majority of the time, he stoops over, hiding his bulk in a loose robe and leaning on a staff he doesn’t really need. While no goody two-shoes, Mr.Finley is not one for random acts of violence or theft and prefers to maintain long-term relationships with his compatriots. However, when frustrated he’s quick to respond with a direct approach, like breaking doors in his way. Currently 34.

Bard is built to cover knowledge, magical skills, and trapfinding.
Fighter is built as an oriental polearm mercenary.
Druid is still nebulous with no spell selections or planned wild shapes to suggest intent.

Hmmm . . ..

The only REAL hole is healer. Anything else duplicates capabilities provided by the Bard or Fighter, really.

I see no reason to take away from the intent of any of your selected players, so I'll not press the point by submitting a character to do just that.

Thank you for the notification. I hope you and your team enjoy the stories you tell!

If you need a healer, let me know... Happy to scratch that itch or fill that niche (pronounced nitch).

Can crunch it up in a day or so. Not my usual role, but good chance to flex and strengthen RP skillz.

Silver Crusade

My interest bounced off when you said phb classes only, but since I really wondered, I'll ask, anyway...

What does timezone matter if you post once a week?

I'm GMT +1 and saw myself excluded by a rule I didn't get...
