Chieftain Sootscale |

If able find NPCs to learn spells, Sootscale's expenses are as follows:
New forumlae: 495gp
Potion toolkit (excluding Remove Curse because Vincent can handle that): 3,900gp
I think Sophiel did some math saying that we got over 4k gp recently, so this should work out.

Sophiel Medvyed |

Sophie had 4790.13 plus about 5 GP left over from before. She upgrades her headband while they're going/coming back, so she's got 1790 or so left for whatever.

Chrysa Surtova |

Chrysa had enough to upgrade her belt of dex if Sophie is willing.

Chieftain Sootscale |

New extracts memorized:
3rd (3/day): Displacement x2
2nd (5/day): Alchemical Allocation x5
1st (5/day): Shield x3, Reduce Person x2
Handouts:
Alchemical Allocation = Heroism for Sophiel and Chrysa, Magic Circle Against Evil for Chrysa and Ipmeek. One extra as a general toolkit.
Displacement = Chrysa and Ipmeek? Willing to hand this out if someone wants--I'm not sure what our front line looks like beyond Chrysa these days.
Shield = Vincent, Chrysa, and Ipmeek
Reduce Person = Chrysa and Ipmeek
I'm memorizing Displacement instead of Fly or Monstrous Physique I because everyone seems to fly.

Chieftain Sootscale |

Sootscale wants to learn the following formulae from the spellbook:
Comprehend Languages
Disguise Self
Stoneskin
Greater Invisibility

Vincent Maridos II |

Vincent obviously will be hugging the book like a teddy bear and never letting it go!

Chieftain Sootscale |

Just want to thank Sophiel for running my kingdom!

DM Thron |

So, if you guys saw in Discord...something went FUBAR on my iPad (which is my primary posting/updating/resource storage device) and it has deleted every single PDF I had on there. Which included basically every RP book I owned.
I...I will try to keep the game going as best I can, but am now totally lacking all my source material for the official AP stuff.

Chrysa Surtova |

That truly sucks, sir. Don't worry about us and throw all negative feelings toward the evil that is APPLE!

Vincent Maridos II |

Geez... take your time! There's no rush.

DM Thron |

Hey guys.
So some of you may know, I recently got a promotion and am taking on leadership of two surgical ICU units at my hospital. We are a high acuity facility, and there is a lot of pressure and responsibility falling on the shoulders of both myself and my entire staff (as is always the case for healthcare employees in general, but I digress).
But, the past few days have shown me I need to trim things down significantly in my life to give the new job the focus it deserves. As such, I regretfully am going to have to withdraw from this game. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I have to do what I have to do to for my new situation.
I will be marking this thread as inactive, but most all my games have access to me by discord. Feel free to chat with me on there.

Chieftain Sootscale |

Okay, so my stats are changing a ton thanks to Jedi making kobold stat adjustments not suck!
Original point buy, stat and and stat increases:
Kobold: -4 Str, -2 Con, +2 Dex
Str +0 (0)
Dex +4 (5)
Con +0 (0)
Int +5 (7)
Wis +0 (0)
Cha +3 (3)
+1 Int, +1 Cha
New point buy and stat increases:
Kobold: -2 Str, +2 Dex, +2 Cha
Str +0 (0)
Dex +4 (5)
Con +2 (2)
Int +6 (10)
Wis +0 (0)
Cha +3 (3)
+2 Int
Sootscale's stat changes:
Old: Str 6, Dex 16, Con 8, Int 16, Wis 10, Cha 13
New: Str 8, Dex 16, Con 12, Int 18, Wis 10, Cha 15
Sootscale is stronger, tougher, smarter, and more charismatic! (He still didn't get any wiser :P)

Chrysa Surtova |

Chrysa will bump up constitution and wisdom. two points each.

Vincent Maridos II |

+2 str (10 to 12) and +2 dex (12 to 14) for Vincent I think.

Chieftain Sootscale |

After some study at the University, Sootscale quickly absorbs the theories underlying his alchemical tinkering. His mind opens to a universe of arcane knowledge!
Ten ranks of K. Arcana suddenly appear on his character sheet! He also can now speak Gnome.

Okay, I apparently bought the following:
Formulae (495gp):Ant Haul
Disguise Self
Alchemical Allocation
Resist Energy: Communal
Protection from Arrows: Communal
Displacement
Potions (3900 gp):
Heroism
Magic Circle Against Evil
Lesser Restoration
Neutralize Poison
Remove Blindness/Deafness
Remove Curse
Remove Disease
Remove Paralysis
Wand of Mage Armor (750gp) (I've been pretending this exists but seems like I never bought one, will deduct half the charges to account for it)
And I had 605gp in my possession. Therefore,
Sootscale's gold = 44803.33+605-495-3900-750 = 40,263.33
Using this gold, I would like to have Sophiel craft the following:
Upgrade +2 Int headband to +6 Int headband (16,000 gp)
Upgrade +2 Con belt to +4 Con belt (6,000 gp)
Upgrade +1 cloak of resistance to +5 (12,000 gp)
Upgrade +1 amulet of natural armor to +2 (3,000 gp)
Poisoner's Gloves (2,500 gp)
Gold remaining: 763gp
Let me know if all or some of this is possible.

Vincent Maridos II |

Could/would Sophie be willing to bump Vincent's headband up to a +4/+4? He's got the 10K required to pay the difference.
Also, any news on that blessed book she was making? :) Vincent hasn't had a chance to give 'Auntie Sophie' a big hug for ages!

Chieftain Sootscale |

Slight correction--Sootscale already had a +2 cloak of resistance, thereby saving 1500gp!

Donovan of Restov |

Heya folks, your GM indicated that you were in the market for a replacement tank/healer, so I aimed to deliver! (I'm also led to believe that perhaps some of you had a chance to look over this character.)
Donovan here is a crusading cleric from Restov who spent five years fighting at the Worldwound in the Mendevian Crusade in hopes of becoming a knight, but his sponsor was killed. Along the way he became an ordained cleric of Iomedae and a strong champion against demons and evil stuff in general, but now he's kinda listless because his expected path of social upward mobility (become a knight, get a title, work for some noble, try to marry into high society) is upended, and he's looking for a new path. Turns out that the expedition to the Stolen Lands all happened while he was out of the country, so now that he's had a little time back home, he found out that there's a whole new national project nearby! So, looking to forge a new future and perhaps find opportunities out of turmoil, he's used his connections to wrangle an invite to the charter and he's heading south to find out more about this Gliocas. Along the way he discovers that there's a rogue nation called Shadowfell causing problems... all the more reason for a hero to come to the aid of Gliocas during its formative years!
Now, I know some of your characters aren't exactly "good guys." Donovan's a hero-crusader of Iomedae, but to him, heroism is a personal moral choice—you can't "force" someone to be good; you can only hope to inspire them, and to defend others from abuse and exploitation. So Donovan is interested in helping to drive the culture and set the direction of Gliocas as a society in its formative stages, by encouraging people to be generous, and fair, and compassionate, but he understands that politics is a messy business and you don't always get what you want (and you can't just kill everyone who disagrees with you, because then you're a tyrant).
As a crusader-priest, Donovan's spellcasting is slightly diminished, but if he can get his headband of inspired wisdom upgraded next level, he'll still get a bonus Wisdom spell slot for the all-important heal spell. And of course he can channel, raise dead, etc.
With magical adamantine plate armor (he has Heavy Armor proficiency as one of his crusader bonuses), he is well-positioned to help tank. His damage output won't match a fighter's unless he's fully buffed up with spells, but he should be able to at least hold the front lines for a couple of rounds!
In addition, he has the Leadership feat and comes with a wizard cohort who is a magic item crafting machine, plus said wizard is designed to rock the house in abjuration and countermagic—a defense wizard. (If the team doesn't normally bring cohorts on expeditions, that's fine too, he can stay in the tower and pump out magic weapons.)
The open question is, how does Donovan get to Gliocas? Turns out that Shadowfell is in the way, and a crusader-priest of Iomedae probably can't just walk (ride) into Mordor. So, he'll have to go around, either to the east or to the west, following the directions that divination spells tell him. Divination gives one week of lead time on its yes-or-no question, so each day that can at least tell him which direction to travel to be most likely to make it to Gliocas unharmed. Then he would have to ask around to find the local leadership and arrive to offer his services as a former crusader, a squire, and a fully-vested priest of Iomedae.
Lemme know your thoughts, folks!

Chrysa Surtova |

Woohoo! Welcome.
The rogue nation of Shadowfall accepts all (unless you are fae). Even vampires, bandits, hags, moon radish aficionados, and master weavers. Oh, they started exporting furniture as well before we shut down the rest of our kingdom turns.
Right now their borders are a little more stringent than they were due to hunting down spies. They have been building stout solid walls and building up their armies, so maybe avoiding the Fall isn't a bad idea.
Side note, I believe they were the only kingdom to build an orphanage. Their baroness is a softy when it comes to protecting children.
Chrysa is Lawful Evil, but understands everyone cannot see the truth of things as she does, so is accepting of most viewpoints (unless you are a Fae). Her best friend is the leader of Gilocas(Sophie), who is Fae adjacent :(
Donovan looks great, and am happy to have conflicting banter back and forth on viewpoints in character. Though at the moment Chrysa is disguised in her helping of Gilocas, so is named Mum and looks different. And is acting like a good guy.
Oh, even though Surtova is in Chrysa's tagline as her last name, she NEVER uses it and only a very few people know she is related to them.
Welcome again!

Donovan of Restov |

Is the PC nation "Gilocas" or "Gliocas"? I've now seen both spellings.

Chrysa Surtova |

I misspell everything, never trust me in that arena.
Sorry sir. And you are REXI!!! Sorry, had to look up aliases and missed that before. My character was Aster the pear shaped wererat in that one.

Donovan of Restov |

Yep! Not that many 1e players left on the boards, it's basically impossible to get into a game without seeing someone you already know. :) Hi!

Chieftain Sootscale |

Oh my gosh, I've been misspelling Gliocas like, forever!
So you may not be aware of this, but Gliocas is the recipient of some unprovoked aggression from Fort Drelev, which appears to be a sort of vassal state to the Tiger Lords and Pitax. This post basically explains the status, and it's the most current of events. The defense of Gliocas would be a noble cause.

GM Litejedi - Kingmaker |

All of these posted summaries are accurate, and the name is Gliocas. It means wisdom in Scots Gaelic.
Donovan has to decide if he would like to arrive at Tatzleford now via deus ex machina or if you’d like him to be wandering in the wilds when the PCs find him. You also could check with Natloz and join at the same time.
The timing matters for whether I make you an introductory post re: Sophiel or you jump into the thick of things.

Tikroch |

Hey all, I'm re-working my druid as some of the flavor choices I made that don't fit a non-shoanti. This is the alias I'm going to be using. I was thinking Tikroch could be stalking Drelev trying to find some weakness he could exploit. Having run into one of the few people that escaped and survived in the wilderness, he decided such a place doesn't deserve its place it has carved out in the wilds. It wouldn't be a huge departure to have run into Donovan and decided it would be worthwhile to find allies instead of storming the place on his own. I'm going to be terribly generic with his further background and just have him travelling to experience different places to expand his exposure to different environments. Another possibility, he was sent to investigate the area by the leadership of his circle that sensed some ambiguous greater threat rising from this area. That one would need some DM support as to what that threat is or if that's even a possibility.
Crunch wise, I need to de-level him by one from my original character so there's some work to be done. I know Chief Sootscale was passing out infusions but I'm getting lost in the sauce trying to pick out a different domain so I was thinking of going with herbalism instead. It basically lets me make free druid potions (per brew potion) and infusions of druid spells. I don't want to go with a companion as that's more book keeping and I'm already doing a lot keeping up with different wild shape options. Role wise, he's focused on wildshaping and doing massive damage. Looking at some of your stats, I don't think I'll have as high an AC so more of an off-tank/damage with spell support. Best part of big bruiser druid is still having full spellcasting.

Deux ex machina seems appropriate for a cleric, don't you think? Tatzlford, please!

Donovan of Restov |

I guess we have two healer/tanks, but the other one is just better at everything? Should I change to something else?

Chrysa Surtova |

Two tanks and two healers are NEVER a problem, at least in my book. I look forward to friendly ideology conflicting banter with Donovan and learning how Chrysa will interact with Tikroch as well.

GM Litejedi - Kingmaker |

@Donovan, I don't think anyone has to change, many problems will be solved outside of combat, as the PCs will attest in their experience with my other AP that I'm running.
In fact, if your PCs don't have decent skills, or out-of-combat utility, you may find yourself overwhelmed at certain junctures.
Note that our original PCs were a hodgepodge of things (my PC is a skald/druid), and we were encouraged to deliberately take multiclasses and prestige classes as an experience towards having more naturalistic builds (people rarely start as one thing IRL), and so I would encourage anyone to think about that.
If you can find develop a few memories or experiences that informed these, they could add flavor to the character - like additional quirks and thematically appropriate additions. Maybe I'll give you a story feat if they're compelling. Remember that these are high-level characters - they've seen their fair share of foes and had interesting experiences. How do they feel about fey creatures? Giants?
Your PCs can also retrain somewhat easily so don't worry about making mistakes. Lastly, please ensure Donovan and Tikroch (whichever version) use 20-point buy, not 15.
@Tickroch I'm not against herbalism, all of the followers/sherriffs of Gliocas are druids with herbalism, but you may find it's of limited utility given the overlap. Though as I said - you could switch it out later if you want.

Chieftain Sootscale |

I guess we have two healer/tanks, but the other one is just better at everything? Should I change to something else?
@Donovan--you definitely don't have to change anything. If you want to change, that's another matter entirely. It sounds like you're worried about being underpowered compared to Tikroch, although I don't have enough perspective to know if that's really true.

Donovan of Restov |

Well, I just didn't know if I'd have anything to contribute, since it looked like Tikroch was literally better at everything that Donovan was recruited to do, but it seems that his character is still in flux. (His stat bar doesn't match some of his sheet info, frex.)
Anyway, let's see how things go. We will probably have different outlooks on various problems. And maybe Donovan will get killed! You can never tell how these things will play out.

Chrysa Surtova |

Roleplaying is a hundred thousand million billion times more important than mechanics. If either of you wishes to switch over to a duel-wielding short sword rogue with a mess of other classes thrown in, I am good with that :)
Chrysa is still awesome.

Tikroch |

There's been some development. He's still supposed to be a combat beast but specifically targeting fey. He could be convinced to fight for other causes as well though. I'm dropping the domain to pick up an animal companion to make better use of the archetype I'm picking up thereby also reducing casting capacity. I definitely didn't mean to feel invalidated Donvan. I'm not sure how much staying power he'll have with usually being large sized not a whole lot of hp. Not a glass cannon, maybe ceramic though.
Fair warning, I found some companion Feats that make him a fey hunting monster. Swift action to search for invisible things with a+20 bonus.
I'm almost done with everything, just redistributing cash from my items to my companion.

Donovan of Restov |

It's totally not a problem, I think there was just a miscommunication because I was looking at the earlier version of your character and was like "This guy does everything that the group recruited my character to do, but better. Why am I in the party again?" But I think as you finish up your alterations we will have distinct roles. Again, no worries! I think we're all set now.

Tikroch |

I adjusted my tagline so it reflects the adjusted sheet. Dropped HP, dropped AC, dropped perception. Also doesn't show lvl 11 stats... haha

Chrysa Surtova |

Chrysa is a glass cannon so can use all the healing in the universe to keep her from ending up in a puddle. Also WELCOME TIKROCH!

Chieftain Sootscale |

Sootscale used to be the glassiest of cannons! Somehow he got a +4 Con belt to make him sturdier.

Tikroch |

Thanks for the welcome! I think I'm finally finished. I have my companion on my sheet as well. I think he's better than I am... especially if I haven't wild shaped. Looking forward to finding the ex-crusader in the woods outside Tatzlford!

Tikroch |

Not sure if we're still going to use the loot spreadsheet linked at the top of the page. Here is a list of our spoils from trekking to the fort.
