Not sure who would be a good ranged combatant. The Alchemist might work if we can give them a ranged weapon and with the bombs would be great!


Is it true? I've been chosen? I'd best get my character finished up. I looked him over to see if I could go ranged, but I would need a couple of hard adjustments since I dumped my dex and let my charisma make up for it. I could take a different revelation so that I could go ranged if you guys would prefer. Also, as a side note, I have not figured out how to make a header for my character yet. Please help the noob, lol.

As the other players enter Falcon's Hollow, they will eventually end up at The Sitting Duck. You are the only obvious adventurer in the establishment. There just weren't any ranged characters to choose from. Most everyone has some back up ranged weapons, so we should be ok in a pinch.

Ranok, changing your character to ranged would be a complete rewtire. I wouldn't attempt it at this point.

A melee heavy group can work out. We'll just have to see jow it goes.

@Ranok, Like Zeira, (even moreso) I think you should have some backup weapons capable of piercing DR. Something silver, something blunt, something cold iron. I don't see a ranged weapon of any kind either.

A silver or cold iron morningstar is a great choice (gives blunt, piercing, and one standard DR). Maybe cold iron hand axes? They are pretty cheap and double as ranged, if bows aren't your thing.

Not too sure where you see your character going from here. I also don't see any survival gear or a pack to carry things in. Not sure about this GM, but some might penalize you if you try to sleep on the cold ground.

@Everyone We can't rely on my burning hands if we run into some swarms. I only have two. It would be nice if everyone picked up a couple of Alchemist's fire or acid flasks.

I was studying Egyptian scarabs last night and found out that they are dung beetles. That is where they get their moisture from as well.

So.... the food and water pouches in my familiar satchel will contain.... dung.

With a horse and donkey along, I won't have to go searching for food. Hopefully a small ball of dung won't cause TOO much of a smell.

That is your call. The last companion had stats and I chose the icon for him. That worked just fine as he was not doing any talking. Companions are technically npcs and controlled by the GM. I typically let the player move him in battle and roll for him as long as they are reasonable expectations.

@GM I apologize. It occurs to me that I never sought your approval of my familiar.

I am using the Approximating Familiar rules of familiar folio to flavor a Greensting Scorpion as a Scarab. (Oversized insects is one of the suggested approximations).

I don't have any actual stats for a scarab, so I have left is as a scorpion on my character sheet. Rarely, if ever, would the familiar be used during adventuring and certainly never in combat.

If that is not acceptable, I have no problem using a scorpion instead. A scarab simply seemed to fit the character concept better.

Your instincts are correct. I ran a simulation as soon as it came out. It was not well balanced as the PCs were under powered for some of their opponents. The ones that played it drew the same conclusion. The rules were revised since then and I do not have the time to delve into it anytime soon. Nor do I have the desire. It is a complete rewrite of everything.

If the arrow is on the line with your name, you can act and the GM will sort it out

Double and triple checked this. Ranoks's natural bite when used as part of a full round action with a primary manufactured weapon is considered as secondary, with a -5 to hit. so rather that +7, it would be +2 as secondary. Only half of the strength would apply to the the damage so it would be 1 as opposed to 3.

Am I correct? Need to get this one correct from the get go.

You are right on both. The bite is listed as a primary attack, but I imagine probably not when in combination with another weapon.

Toothy: Some half-orcs’ tusks are large and sharp, granting a bite attack. This is a primary natural attack that deals 1d4 points of piercing damage. This racial trait replaces orc ferocity.
