Sorry Mokhasi, we are all too beat to check on the slavers. If you are still interested in that angle, I'd propose you scout out the scene. If anything is even there, you can let us know and we can figure out the next steps.
Hmm.... fighter to pick up martial weapons and heavy armor. Or another inquisitor to detect alignment!
I'm going to suggest something a little different--Chosen One Paladin. If you're willing to be LG instead of NG. In the future, of course, since you already leveled.
Or if you want to try something that's not paladin, warpriest is good. Also gives martial weapons and heavy armor, and Focus Weapon is as good as +1 BAB for a specific weapon.
The reason I'm pushing the above classes is in part because Inquisitors get Litany of Righteousness as a 3rd spell but no way to use it for their own benefit (because they don't have an aura). It turns out that Paladin or Warpriest do give an aura. I want to see someone make use of this fact with an appropriate multiclass dip.
If we go Mok, I think we'd be going alone. Too many wounds and broken bits in our comrades. Sapher would want to but knows when they could easily be killed. Maybe we could ask our captain to inform the town guard about the slaver's meeting and hope they will take care of it?
I did consider war priest, but passed since I forgot they got weapon focus. Paladin would be lovely if there was a non charisma based version :)
Then Sapher will go with you. She does not care for them much either :)
DISTANCE! ...please... though Sapher has a minus ridiculous on stealth. With just the two of us, we might not survive a battle.
Mok, we have the potions of clw (though I think only you are aware of what they are). If he was willing, we could ask/beg Drask.
I...the player...would love to go.
But I can't justify it based on Veltariel's HP (she knows when she's too hurt to carry on unless she has to) as well as her emotional state.
Ya'll just go scout it out from a distance and watch for any serious movement. Slaver activity should be hard to miss. Moving groups of people from one spot to another and all that...
If Drask is healed he is happy to go.
Dak, if we go to the slaver meeting tonight would we have the benefits of being leveled up yet?
Note that I plan on taking cure light as one of my spells at some point, so I will also have limited healing ability.
Esrisi, you may want to consider being an unchained monk, instead of a regular one. I believe they are permitted to take scaled fist, and the consensus is that they are appreciably better than regular monks (even for dips).
While we do our various bantering/heroing sessions:
Shall we discuss Loot OOC?
I'm curious what you guys would determine to do in regards to Veltariel in character. She's not officially part of the team after all. And as her player, I wanna say in advance that you cannot offend me with your group decision on her cut. As big of a b&$~~ she has been, I wouldn't be surprised if the consensus was to not give her a share at all!
But, in the interest of keeping things moving in-game, it may be best if we settled the loot split up here OOC.
So...how ya'll wanna do it?
As much it will grind her nerves, Esrisi will concede to split the loot with Veltariel as soon as the others suggest it. She will not offer it to her initially or even count her in the split, but won't make an argument out of it.
Drask doesn't care about titles or officially being in a group of not. Vel carried her weight (and then some) so she deserves a cut.
My default take on loot is "situational meritocracy", which means we spend wealth in the manner that puts the entire group at their most lethal, regardless of how even the split is. Large party fund that we each take out of as needed. But I'm flexible and happy to go with whatever the group decides.
I will put together a loot spreadsheet in the absence of Dak doing one. He has a good one that is fair, but I don’t want to give him extra work. Mine auto splits everything equally, and keeps all characters at identical wbl (though we can feel free to override if we want to lod Drask or whatnot with amazing loots). In addition, Mokhasi is literally a merchant who appraises stuff for a living, with copious notes and ledgers. It only makes sense he would manage it. I am an engineer, so I have engineer brain, so it may require a bit of explanation.
And Vel deserves a full share, at least for the current activities, as Mokhasi has previously insisted. Whether she stays is up to her.
@Es ahh, didn’t catch that. You should be a pretty good fighter then. :thumbs up: Especially with some boss self buffs.
@Mok--Sapher updated the Loot Sheet. But I am all for Mokhasi taking command of his own loot sheet!
Also, I endorse Drask's philosophy . . . I do want to load the fighters with amazing loots usually. Caroliss doesn't need anything to function pretty much as she does now.
Vel definitely gets her share. To do otherwise would be uncivilized.
Full agreement as a player and character. Vel should get some options as all of us.
And also fine with using mok's list
Ahh, see, that’s what I get for not paying attention.
I am very wary of loading everything onto one character. It is fine in small bursts, but whatever balance exists within the game system does so assuming characters get things like stat boosts, cloaks of resistance, etc. at regular intervals, and the cost of things is approximately scaled per level.
Additionally, I’m playing in a pbp also where we loaded one guy with a bunch of stuff, then he stopped playing, and our party was SOL. This is significantly soured me on the idea.
It isn’t just about output, it is also about ensuring your character can handle a few big arrow volleys or AOEs without crumpling like tissue paper. I will happily loan/give parts of my share to other PCs temporarily, but in my experience one has to be very careful about having this be the de facto policy.
As an example, each PC can only take so many actions per turn, so (for example) doubling/tripling someone’s WBL so they can do +4.5 damage per hit (taking a weapon from +1 to +2 corrosive), isn’t worth everyone else taking a hit of 3,200 per character.
Let me know if I’m being myopic. I could be biased due to previous experiences.
Oh no no no, let me clarify. I don't think loot should all be piled onto one or two characters by any stretch of the imagination. As you say, "short bursts".
1) Hey if we spend some party loot on a necklace of fireballs then Mokhasi will be able to do a lot of damage to the swarms of ice elementals we're expecting to fight.
2) We should invest in getting Caroliss a wand of lesser restoration since we've been running into health problems so much.
But yes, very much a temporary sense. If, for example, we got Mokhasi that necklace of fireballs, then the next time we got a big loot grab we would do our best to even things out again.
Short bursts kept within a reasonable level of variation.
@Drask For level benefits anything that normally doesn't require rest to regain (spells, HP, etc) you can use. Of course, if you are healed up to max then that is fine because you max still increases, but in your case at-2 you didn't get the HP for the level added in to bump you above positive.
Gotcha. So I'm currently at -2/22.
What kind of potions are those? Standard CLW at CL1?
Soooooooooo... Hear me out here.
Any particular reason we can't wait until the morning? Like, can Sapher and Mok tell Sheila to send someone to scout the area or make sure nothing happens and we can go as a group in the morning when we're whole and rested? We're talking about burning our consumables and I'd rather use those for emergencies.
I'm fine if you want to split the party and do it without resources, but it sounds potentially dangerous and I'm not sure that's a risk we need to take? Of course, I'm catching Z's so I'll understand if I don't get a vote.
Sounds like it's time sensitive. I think that's the main reason.
Unfortunately, we heard there was a meeting tonight. So we have to go now or not at all. In character, Mokhasi dislikes slavers, and so will at minimum attempt to investigate them, preferably from a distance.
I do not think we are likely to run in, guns-a-blazing.
What! Sigh now I have to rewrite the run in guns a blazing post
By all means, if you want to mess some dudes up, let’s go! As long as we all agree that we’re willing to die for a cause in glorious battle, I’m down! I just didn’t think it was likely is all.
Oh Drask is just hungover and tired. He assumed he was brought along as dumb muscle and didn't need to think at all for this.
Sapher's thought is that she CANNOT be stealthy so might as well be bait.
Well...I can say I’m eyeballing the cat burglar boots and masterwork thieves tools. The Mithral sword is cool but it’s mostly just bling so not terribly interested in that.
Think you are our only lockpicker and our main scout (Drask being our second!)
Oh I forgot about that. You two might need to fight over the boots.
Us? Fight? Nonsense.
I tell her what to do and she does the opposite!
