I don’t feel anyone needs to drop. We have a good group here with an interesting dynamic. Yes, 2 characters don’t get along, but the players playing them have been fine with everything and have planned their jabs at one another in advance to make sure we didn’t hurt one another’s feelings as players.
But, I was having a gut feeling the antics are getting old. So I talked to Esrisi and we agreed that from here on in we are gonna lighten up on them. As I said,m in my previous post, part of Veltariel’s character development will be breaking her hatred of humans. I even plan to represent this by putting my 2 next stat increase at 4 and 8 into Charisma.
At which point, she will feel like s+@& over what she’s done and begin trying to make amends. It has all been preplanned and no actual malicious intent was ever held. So, from here on in, I plan to play Veltariel as slowly “seeing the light” as it were.
But: if you guys feel this is just too old and a distraction, I would be happy to reroll as a far less abrasive character that can still handle traps. A plucky, charismatic rogue perhaps.
But, again, I don’t think anyone as a player needs to leave the game. Everyone has played their characters well and interestingly.
Sapher Mornshire |
No one needs to leave. No one. I am annoyed, but will get over it. Pure and simple.
Caroliss Kaddren |
We will all be fine. Deep breaths everyone. Nobody needs to leave.
This is the best game I'm in! And everyone here has a heart to make it better for everyone, which is what matters.
Veltariel Mendrasti |
High fives all around?
*holds up hand*
Drask Umbra |
*high fives Vel through the wall*
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Just be aware Vel, Mokhasi will not be very pleased with Veltariel. Possibly for a long time.
But I’m sure she’s thought about that, right? :)
Veltariel Mendrasti |
I’m playing Veltariel as a bit loose cannon right now. She’s emotional, surrounded by the people she hates most, her closest friend is turning on her...
Yeah...she’s bound to make a very poor decision or two.
And she will have to deal with the consequences.
Sapher Mornshire |
Yep, *high fives*, and sorry all for losing it for a moment.
I blame old age... makes you cranky.
Drask Umbra |
Esrisi Derexhi |
Sorry for the delayed response, long flight!
I’m happy to hear everyone is cool, that makes me feel much, much better.
Drask Umbra |
Oh yeah, the 1k gold bounty.
Do we want to spend any of that?
Drask Umbra |
Never a bad idea.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
I had shunted 152 into our group kitty, so we need only 600 of the 1k for the wand.
Let me know if you would like me to adjust the percentage, I have it at 5% of everything sold now.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
I also have to adjust how the currency is calculated when a person is in the negative, I want to be able to give everyone a good number for your “liquid assets” value and I may have boffed the calculation on this version of the spreadsheet.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Figured it out, but won’t be able to update until I get home! Essentially, we do it by loaning each other a bit of our share value, the loans can be tracked separately. I’ll track it, sorry all for the confusion!
The current pre-shopping, post claiming values are:
650 for Esrisi, 25.08 for Veltariel, 499.58 for Caroliss, 583.58 for Drask, 87.58 for Mokhasi (I loaned Veltariel 550 from my share), 632.08 for Sapher. These are approximate, but it should give everyone a good idea for how much you would have had to spend before we set out.
Drask Umbra |
Drask would like to see if he could get a masterwork version of his orc double-axe. The cost would be 600 + item cost since it's a double weapon.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
I’ll loan you the difference, 17 + half the cost of a double axe (30, sell existing+buy masterwork ) so 47 loaned.
Mokhasi doesn’t need money beyond the spear and cestus, atm.
Drask Umbra |
Nah, Drask has other stuff he can sell off to make the difference.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
K, whatever you wanna do! You claimed a bunch of stuff, the 583 was post claims. You can also unclaim it and your currency goes up. If my math is right, you need 630 doubloons to get the axe if you sell your existing one.
You could also buy two masterwork transformation spells, but that’d be a lot more expensive :(
Veltariel Mendrasti |
Chilling on Roll20 if anyone wants to shoot the breeze a bit. Will be around all night work permitting. But on phone so sometimes it kicks me out of the window isn’t active. But I’ll be around.
Sapher Mornshire |
Hey Mok, I modified the sheet to add Sapher to the chart on the right, since she has claimed a light crossbow and 10 bolts.
Sapher will pick up a masterwork hammer if we have time. Do we have time for that? And if we are about to go into 'potential being cut up into tiny piece' territory Sapher will happily donate additional funds so Drask hits things more. An investment in the future, as in hoping to have one.
So Time. Are we leaving today or tomorrow?
Sapher Mornshire |
Please double check me though. I think I got it right, just had to change the name due to the magic of incrementing rows.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Sapher - I believe we spent the morning organizing and shopping and are leaving as soon as Drask and vel are done shopping. You can say that they are picking up the gear you need now.
If Drask needs gold, please take as much from my share as needed. Ez is generous!
Sapher Mornshire |
Ah that would be lovely, THANK YOU IN ADVANCE DRASK AND VELS!
Drask Umbra |
I don't feel the need to roleplay out some simple shopping. Drask will buy anything the party asks for. Based on the size of the city and your earlier statement I'll assume I can get a masterwork weapon. Will update my sheet tomorrow morning most likely.
Esrisi Derexhi |
I didn't mean to insinuate you needed to rp shopping, I just meant you would get what Saph needed.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
I fixed the sheet, I just split the cost of the cat burglar's boots between me and Vel and threw up the loan into a little table on the right.
Mok buys:
A cestus - 5 gp
A longspear - 5 gp
A flask of acid - 10 gp - to be used as a focus.
A journal - 10 gp - for recording everything
Spring Loaded Wrist Sheath (2) - 10 gp
Haramaki - 3 gp
Reagent, Silver x10 - 10 gp
Alchemical Grease x4 - 20 gp
Total of 63 gold
Total 63 gp out of 87.5, so 14.5 left.
Good to go!
Veltariel Mendrasti |
Huh? What loan did I just get signed into? Lol!
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
You have a magic item worth 2k gold, so instead of us selling it and splitting the value between everyone, you basically get to "buy" it at half price instead.
Since we didn't have enough for you to buy it outright, I gave you... 550 gp from my share to cover the difference. Essentially, it's just a way to remind everyone of how much "extra" everyone has gotten.
You don't have to pay me back now (or possibly forever), so it's not a real loan, per say.
Veltariel Mendrasti |
Ah. Well, that’s one way of doing it.
It’ll get balanced out eventually. Just may stall my Adaptive enchantment on my bow. Heh
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
It only delays it if you feel like paying me back.
I mean, what am I gonna spend money on. Maybe a mithril buckler?
Mokhasi now has random things to throw from his pouch to boost his low level spells. Silver, grease, and an acid flask in his wrist sheath!
Veltariel Mendrasti |
Having played a high level Arcanist, I can give you one awesome suggestion:
Spells in your spell book.
With the exploits that let you swap spells on the fly, having a lot of spells to select from, particularly those situational spells that are handy to have but not always memorize, provides you TONS of power.
TONS
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Of course. Especially with Magaambyan Arcanist, who gets a weird spell mastery feature, but my halcyon magic also lets me convert some spells too, for the cost of reservoir points. Hooray!
Esrisi Derexhi |
The real question is . . . who's holding the Shard of Pride.
What... this is not a relevant question whatsoever!
(Who’s side are you anyway!?!)
It’s MINE! You can have lust Cars, that oughta be fun!
Drask Umbra |
I mean, what am I gonna spend money on. Maybe a mithril buckler?
Scrolls. Turning into a walking library is what makes arcane casters consistently useful at low levels. IMHO anyways.
My sheet is updated. Masterwork double weapon bought. Can't wait to start feeling those brutal price gouges as I look to get a magical double weapon. Of course one advantage is that I can add the menacing quality to one part of my double weapon and get easy bonuses since later I can set up flanks with my own shadow.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Mokhasi is ready to go, just doing this interaction. I already have a response that will expedite everything, but he’s ready to go.

Oh I imagine that will be lots of fun. If she gets to touch it, it might change Caroliss permanently, even after the curse is lifted.
I might want to study the Shard of Pride in my spare time. Caroliss might become an Illusionist once she hits level 4.
Also ready to go.
Esrisi Derexhi |
For the record I was talking about giving her the shard of pride.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Someone submitted a character for my Tyrant's Grasp recruitment using Vel's profile picture. I'd be lying if I didn't say that you have ruined this picture for me for all future characters Veltariel!
Drask Umbra |
Yeah, that's one of my largest criticisms of the boards. Narrow avatar image selection. I understand the wariness about allowing anybody to upload their own images because that would be an additional moderating burden, but I think one could argue that the boards are very good about self-moderating for the most part and it would be a good change.
I spend an unreasonable amount of time in character creation just looking for an image I like. It would be much easier and simpler if I could use google instead.
The extension that allows custom avatars is nice, but the problem is when I use my phone or a new device or anything else, or when somebody else doesn't have the extension, it makes a disconnect in what everybody is seeing. I think it would be great to just be a part of the Paizo boards.
Esrisi Derexhi |
I too spend unhealthy amounts of time on character imagery. I've already commissioned her to be drawn up in a month or so, I'm quite excited!
As for the boards, I totally feel like they are using technology from 1999 and will never catch up with the times. At one point several years ago I created my own forums and spent a year customizing the code to correct all of the shortcomings this site! It's not so much to ask for "a little bit more".
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Mokhasi is essentially stepping away from significant interaction with Veltariel, Esrisi, and Caroliss as a coping mechanism because he does not know how to speak to them correctly, as his existing approach does not work.
He is essentially compartmentalized them as people he cannot talk to, so he will stay quiet and watch further interactions for clues as to a more effective strategy. He feels emotionally damaged by the various things that have happened in the last few days, and prefers not to be stuck in the middle of arguments.
He will a) accept requests and b) respond to direct questions with one word answers.
As a player, I don’t mind arguing, but I don’t think Mokhasi would cope well with having to defend different people from different sides. Just giving y’all a heads up! If the other issues are resolved in the future between the different characters, his normal personality will return, so I assume this will not be permanent.
