Drask Umbra |
Actually Sapher, we are the same speed since Drask is encumbered by armor. And he's significantly deadlier with a full attack.
GM can you give me the result of Sapher's attack before I decide on my action?
Veltariel Mendrasti |
I am toying around with the idea of running a campaign for you guys, and Dak has humbly requested Kingmaker. With a group as proactive about posting as this, I think it is a viable option. Though, I would do a modified version to add a little spice to it.
Basically, everyone would start at Level 7, and their Level 7 feat would have to be Leadership. Why?
Because the key difference between my Kingmaker and Base Kingmaker is that in this campaign, the Swordlords don’t sponsor you after the Stag Lord’s defeat. Instead, your sponsorship comes after Book 2, and you are ALL granted rights to claim your own territory.
So instead of one barony, there would be 6 at first! This could change over the course of the campaign, as alliances or even marriages unified territory, or even as one House maybe scuffles with another! That being said, this isn’t a game of inter-party war, and I don’t want anyone waging war at the expense of anyone else’s fun. I want to see political intrigue, negotiations, tense border disputes, that sort of thing! Basically Game of Thrones, Kingmaker Edition!
Would you all come together and name one Baron as Lord/Lady of the Six Kingdoms? Will the former adventuring party fracture into different factions jockeying for power?
Or...is this something of ZERO interest to you guys as a whole? And if this is so, does anyone have any requests for a different AP?
Sapher Mornshire |
I'm easy, and would love the option to continue on with this group. So yes. I rarely play any kind of leader type, and have never taken leadership before (of course none of my character have even made it to level 7 yet either). But I am quiet willing to try.
And Drask, sorry for the misunderstanding. Now you might have the option at hacking apart a tripped and grappled rat woman, if that is any consolation.
Sapher Mornshire |
Hell's Vengeance is the only other one I've played, well am playing. Unless the video game of kingmaker counts.
Caroliss Kaddren |
I would totally do this in other circumstances--but I am committed to paring down my game load to help with baby! But if you're doing this, hopefully you can just slot in another solid player.
Also, what happens when the White Walkers come? :)
Veltariel Mendrasti |
Dance Battle
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
I would like to, but I am pretty bad at intrigue and lying and stuff like that.
I also played most of the kingmaker game on the computer. I’d have to figure out a way to compartmentalize my knowledge, which isn’t impossible.
I’m playing in RotRL, Iron Gods, this, a western game, and Reign of Winter. I’d love to do another, though. I’m still interested in playing Ironfang Invasion, though I know that’s probably off the table. The only AP I don’t want is Strange Aeons, which doesn’t grab my interest much!
Esrisi Derexhi |
Hi! Sorry I'm late to the party, I had a rather full day today.
I'm always up for a game with great players, so you can count me in for whatever. Since it sounds like that's a no to Kingmaker, Skull and Shackles could be fun!
Esrisi Derexhi |
Yeah, I get you. But it sounds like there are probably better options that may hold your interest better. I would recommend if we are going into it that everyone be interested in it rather that settling for it, which is the way I took it. I'm not trying to put words in your mouth or anything, so I'll shut up if I read it wrong!
Drask Umbra |
I would be interested, and I absolutely love the Kingmaker AP. But fair warning, I've played it pretty far through, to about level 15 or so. Whenever my gestalt arcane archer began firing antimagic fields at people with his bow. I actually still have that character in an alias on the boards.
Caroliss Kaddren |
How is the little one doing, Cars?
He's doing very well, thanks for asking! Main thing he needs to learn to do is eat--once that's set, we can take him home from the hospital.
Veltariel Mendrasti |
Stressful. My little guy is currently being weaned from breastfeeding. Making matters worse, today he’s decided to start puking and have diarrhea. Fun times.
Esrisi Derexhi |
My oldest slammed his hand in the car door yesterday... ER VISIT!
Fractured fingers and stitches, fun times! :(
Sapher Mornshire |
Any day now Tazo! I am excited for you. It is pure stress but so much better than in the hospital. Vels, out both ends is horrible. I feel for you. And Ez... OUCH! Oh my lord OUCH!
Ah, parenthood...
No horrible events for us. One or two Oh CRAP moments in the continual attempts to teach my eldest two to drive. But no pedestrians accidentally killed and had to be buried in the backyard. This weekend at least :)
Sapher Mornshire |
Oh that's bad Mok. I've never had the pleasure of dealing with lice, I have had to deal with Pokemon and can sympathize with that at least. Good luck sir.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Looks like it’s all better. Just gotta be vigilant for a few days.
Skull and shackles looks fun, but anything that you’d like to run would be fine by me!
Sapher Mornshire |
We've had several scares at school with lice, but have been truly lucky so far. Glad it is better!

Level 3:
Brawler 1
Skills:
Perception, Disable Device, Survival, Climb, Stealth, Acrobatics, Handle Animal*, Craft (Bows)*
Feat: Rapid Shot
+6 HP (d10 HD, +0 Con)
+1 BAB
Brawler's Cunning (Ex): If the brawler's Intelligence score is lower than 13, it counts as 13 for the purpose of meeting the prerequisites of combat feats.
Martial Flexibility (Ex): A brawler can take a move action to gain the benefit of a combat feat she doesn't possess. This effect lasts for 1 minute. The brawler must meet all the feat's prerequisites. She may use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + 1/2 her brawler level (minimum 4 times per day).
The brawler can use this ability again before the duration expires to replace the previous combat feat with another choice.
If a combat feat has a daily use limitation (such as with Stunning Fist), any uses of that combat feat while using this ability count toward that feat's daily limit.
Martial Training (Ex): At 1st level, a brawler counts her total brawler levels as both fighter levels and monk levels for the purpose of qualifying for feats. She also counts as both a fighter and a monk for feats and magic items that have different effects based on whether the character has levels in those classes (such as Stunning Fist or a monk's robe). This ability does not automatically grant feats normally granted to fighters and monks based on class level, such as Stunning Fist.
Unarmed Strike: At 1st level, a brawler gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. A brawler may attack with fists, elbows, knees, and feet. This means that a brawler may make unarmed strikes with her hands full. A brawler applies her full Strength modifier (not half) on damage rolls for all her unarmed strikes.
Usually, a brawler's unarmed strikes deal lethal damage, but she can choose to deal nonlethal damage instead with no penalty on her attack roll. She has the same choice to deal lethal or nonlethal damage while grappling.
A brawler's unarmed strike is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purposes of spells and effects that modify either manufactured weapons or natural weapons.
Sapher Mornshire |
Great work everyone!
As for leveling, Sapher will be going paladin, thanks to the great suggestion Cars. She'll be getting an envoy familiar. Dak how tould like like a falcon sent by Bolka to arrive or would you like it to wait until we're out of this place?
Drask Umbra |
Drask Level 3 (Slayer 2, Unchained Barbarian 1)
HP: 7 (base) + 2 (con) = +9
BaB: +1
Saves: Fort +2
Class Features: Fast Movement, Rage
Skill Ranks: +4 (class) +2 (background) = +6
Feats: Thrill of the Kill
Sheet is updated, and I've included a new stat block for Drask when he is raging as well as a spoiler section in his header.
Quick question on skills: Would Lore (Lycanthropes) be acceptable? Or would it need to be something more specific?
Drask Umbra |
That's fair. To give some flavor on what's going on with his level up:
These fights and Drask's upcoming filth fever is going to be somewhat of a turning point for him. He will be getting sick and in a fever dream will see his brother and get a stronger connection to his spirit, which manifests as his level of barbarian.
As for the Lore, Drask will be asking questions and finding out more about this woman's ability to shrug off terrible blows. Anything that can take such brutal hits from him and still stand piques his curiosity.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Can’t do a proper block until I get home, but I’ve updated my alias, and can give a summary later. Not sure if I actually will get a familiar or not - I’m not quite sure yet. If I can think of something thematic then maybe!
Taking suggestions on a new level 1 druid spell to “learn”.
Esrisi Derexhi |
So I spent some time perusing feat options for Esrisi and wanted to solicit some feedback.
Amateur Swashbuckler: Dodging Panache (At 1st level, when an opponent attempts a melee attack against the swashbuckler, the swashbuckler can as an immediate action spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet; doing so grants the swashbuckler a dodge bonus to AC equal to her Charisma modifier (minimum 0) against the triggering attack. )
Belier's Bite: Deal 1d4 bleed damage with unarmed strike
Combat Advice: Give an ally +2 comp bonus to attack next roll
Snapping Turtle Style: +1 Shield bonus to AC
Pummeling Style: Add multiple attack damages together before overcoming DR
Darksight: Increase darkvision to 120'
Draconic Heritage (chromatic): 1d6 additional damage to unarmed strikes 7 times a day.
Extra Revelation: Hotness.
Fleet: Base speed +5
Persuasive: +2 Diplo/Intimidate
Possessed Hand: +1 insight bonus to attack & damage, slight of hand and disable device.
Toughness: +3 HP
What strikes you as fun from this?
Esrisi Derexhi |
Good catch on swashbuckler Caroliss, I missed that part which unfortunately rules it out.
I agree that Possessed hand is the most fun. It dovetails beautifully with my background and not only are the mechanics good, it also adds the most fluff for roleplay. It's definitely in my top three.
Sapher Mornshire |
Possessed hand does seem to fit greatly. And is awesome.
Sapher
one level of paladin(chosen one)
+8 hit points (6 + 2 con)
3 skill points (perception, sense motive, and spellcraft)
2 background skills (craft armor, linguistics)
+2 fort, +2 will
+1 bab +1CMB/CMD
iron hide, armor prof(heavy), martial weapon prof - all
Detect Evil (At will) (Sp) You can use detect evil at will (as the spell).
Empathic Link with Familiar (Su) You have an empathic link with your Arcane Familiar.
Familiar Bonus: +3 to sight-based Perception checks in bright light
Share Will (Su) When your or familiar fails a save vs. mind-affecting effect, the other can roll in their place, but failure affects both.
Veltariel Mendrasti |
Just as a heads up, I will be leaving May 2nd to go pay homage at the House of Mouse and won’t be back home until May 12th, and then diving right back into work for a few days. Through those first 10 days, my posting may be slower than usual but I’ll still try to get a post in as able and needed.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Have fun Vel! You're going to have a blast and spend lots of money! Going with possessed fist for most fun! Alright, I'm all set.
Feat: Possessed Fist
HP: +7
BAB: +1
Spell: Enhanced Diplomacy
Language: Abyssal
Saves: +1 Will
Retrain: Drop tongues for burst of speed.
Sapher Mornshire |
Wear good shoes! I did not have good support in mine when I took the kids the first time... and was broken! Still had a blast. Have fun sir!

Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
So there is a lot of roleplaying synergy with the ioun wyrd (it fits with Mokhasi trying to compartmentalize, and is made of gems which Mokhasi loves). It has no permanent health liabilities, and retains improved evasion. That said, when it hasn’t been killed, I intend for it act as a finder for invisible creatures, and later as something that can help a few other skill checks.
Until level 5, it can’t talk with me, I think, but it does understand common. I was thinking I could just configure it’s shape to answer yes or no questions, and also have one shape that corresponds to “invisible creature nearby.” It will hang out in front of me and over my shoulder, except when initiative is rolled, when it floats up (whenever possible) to be 10 feet above the ground. It will never really participate in combat.
I would also like to swap out it’s dodge feat for the familiar feat, “sage’s guidance”. It’s up to Dak if we can ever figure out a way to get it to speak a language that the party understands.
Dak, does this make any sense? If not, I can choose something else.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Well, it’s a figment, so theoretically it just appears from my mind in the morning, I think. That’s the benefit of taking the figment familiar while in the Irespan, I don’t have to go to town and recruit something.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Is there an opening to our east? When I moved to the bedroom it looked like there is an area open to the water/outside?
Sapher Mornshire |
At work and busy, so posting will be slim to none, until tonight, well unless I magically figure out all my problems that is.
Wanted to let you know Mok that Sapher is perfectly happy to talk. And didn't want to hold you up.
