I'm looking at the mist creature template...I don't like the idea of being able to cast cloudkill once a day. It seems too much. I would rather get a bonus magic talent in place of those spell-like abilities. Can I drop all of the 3/day and 1/day spell-like abilities and instead get Expanded Materials: Gaseous Generation from the Creation sphere as a bonus talent?
I do want to keep the gaseous form special quality--I looked through the Alteration sphere and was surprised to find no way to duplicate/approximate it with sphere abilities.

...You know, I just realized that most templates probably don't give low-level access to stronger spells like Cloudkill. o wo Huh. I wonder why I never saw that before.
As for Gaseous Form, that feels like it's mainly represented with turning Incorporeal - which, given the power of such effects when available on a regular basis, is appropriately high-level. You could also use Spellcrafting to make a unique effect - Gaseous Creation + Alteration, maybe? Hammer at it a little, see if it makes sense. I could also see an argument for Dark + Alteration, with an emphasis on creating Concealment for yourself. Add that to Fly from Alteration and presto, gassy form!

I am still finding ways to tweak my guy.
For the purpose of Dimensional Agility, would you consider having the Warp sphere with the Distant Teleport and Group Teleport talents qualifies as being able to cast Dimension Door? Unless the Warp sphere is good enough?
Distant Teleport: When you spend a spell point to increase the range of your teleport, the range increases to Long instead of Medium.
Group Teleport: You may spend a spell point to teleport multiple creatures, up to 1 additional target per 2 caster levels (minimum: 1). You may choose whether or not to include yourself in the group to be teleported. Each creature must be touching you or someone else in the affected group to be teleported, unless you possess the Ranged Teleport talent. If you possess the Unwilling Teleport talent, you only need to spend one spell point no matter how many unwilling targets are affected. If one unwilling target makes their saving throw, other creatures are still affected as normal.

Hmm... what exactly are you trying to do with Dimensional Agility? The Warp Sphere's basic power doesn't stop you from using the rest of your actions - and if you're looking for more flexibility with your turn, there's always Quick Teleport. Is there something specific you need Dimensional Agility for? As-is, I don't think it offers too many benefits when used with the Warp Sphere because the problem it's solving doesn't exist. Of course, if you need it as part of a longer feat chain (or thereabouts), that's something else entirely. XD

Slyness |

Aye, feat chain: Dimensional Savant
I could wait for my sorcerer stuff to cast the actual spell, but figured I'd ask.

Slyness |

Ummmm, I know you like 3rd-party stuff and it is technically a Str/Cha class and even thematic, but... swapping a class ability for Bonded Dragon Steed... creative use of the system or shocking abuse?

Slyness |

Can I have special dispensation to use the 3.5 prestige class Dragon Lord from Dragon Magic?
A dragon lord is the general at the head of an army, the emperor at the helm of an empire, or the warleader who dominates a battlefield. He learns much from dragons, modeling his philosophy and strategies after the powerful creatures with great success. Dragon lords strike fear into the hearts of all who cross their path and use brilliant combat tactics that mirror those of the true dragons. In many legends, a dragon lord is the spirit of a dead dragon reborn into a different body, slowly awakening over time and coming to realize the power of its former self.

I also am in the middle of moving, so I'm not done putting together my character. On Monday I think I should be able to focus and pull it all together.
At this time I'm expecting to have a focus on the Creation and Enhancement spheres in my choices of magic talents. I haven't yet decided whether those will come from Incanter or Hedgewitch, and whether I'll mix that with Technician, Scholar, or Blacksmith for the other side of the gestalt (or if I need to do magic on both sides; there are so many talents I want from Creation and Enhancement both!).
I want to have a science and crafting sort of theme. I toyed with the idea of having 1 Conjuration companion (probably orb for the base form with both Sage and Skillful form talents) to serve as a knowledge source...

Sebecloki |

I'm still waiting -- I'd like to run another game, but it's hard to get people to finish characters for elaborate house rules; I think everyone from this one is also in the mythic Greek recruitment.
I also just posted one for a highpowered gestalt game in the old west based on Werewolf20 if you'd like to check that out. I'd like to try to get a decent party for one of these crazy games (like at least 4).

I could be interested... trying to understand the house rules.
I think I would do an Armorist from spheres, with sacred hunts master, natures fang Druid, and unsworn shaman. Unsure of template, prestige, or epic level yet.
The big question for me is on the Armorist - there’s a lot of abilities that only cost gold they don’t get access to. Can I spend gold on permanently bound equipment if the class does not natively offer a method to get it?
Secondly, would the magic talent every other level, or Slayer talents from nature fang, be enough of a class feature to trade out?
Basically thinking a longsword striker of Ionedea who flanks with his mount, focused on single target obliteration and some basic competencies in skills. Very little magic, mostly utility stuff. Would be able to give some sacred buffs through divine fighting style. Main stats would be strength and wisdom.

River of Sticks |

Ok, color me confused... How does this class feature trading work?
For example, say I trade a first level feature for the Cleric's domains feature; do I get everything? Everything at the level I traded, so first level? Do I have to select the domain again at 8th to get the advancement? Alternatively, what about a Cavalier's order or a bloodragers bloodrage? Do you have to swap additional features at 2nd/4th/8th/etc to keep progression, or just get everything?

yes

yes
for ones that are progressive, you have to trade out the whole track

So, if I wanted to trade out a magic talent for the Caveliers order, that would be A) 4 talents for 4 progressions, or B) all talents for 4 progressions? Could I just trade out for one ability rather than getting the entire ability? (trade one talent for the second level ability of an order, for example).
If something references a class you don't have, does it scale at character level? Bane for instance, is Inquisitor level rounds per day. If you aren't an inquisitor, do you have Bane for 0 rounds per day?
Are there any limits on templates or the epic item? Between the Half-Dragon template and the Epic Bracers of Relentless might, you could start with a +20 to Strength and +18 to Constitution on top of everything else... I might skip the mount idea for sheer survivability of the mount, unless they get some crazy bonuses too. Anything I couldn't one-shot would one-shot my mount in turn...

The exchange would be 'cavalier order' for 'talent'

just use your character level in such circumstances

Apologies all. I've been very distracted between a new job and moving house. I am working on this guy, having dropped the mount idea.
Gigoros The Free
Charisma base
Mighty Angel-kin Aasimar
Major Alignment: Red
Minor: Green and Black
Barbarian VMC Bard
Savage Tactician (Charisma-based)
Three that do not replace class features
Cross-blooded (Sorcerer) - Ghoul and Nanite bloodlines
Feyspeaker (Druid)
Vindictive Bastard (Paladin)
Exchange Fey Speech (Ex) for Divine Grace (Paladin)
Exchange Wild Mischief (Ex) for a Revelation or multiple Revelations as allowed (Oracle)
An amused egotist, who sees his own freedom as critical. But isn't vindictive enough to seek to oppress others beyond getting his own way (close to chaotic neutral should we think alignment). While he cannot recall the specifics, he knows in his bones that *someone* has badly wronged him. And he is going to get them back!

Decimus Observet |

To confirm, is this document the set of character creation rules that we are using?
Do we choose a system for skills, or just use the core rules?

Just want to double-check this. I've been using the "chassis" level which is 5, while character level is 6 with the prestige class.

If you are talking about Spheres of Power talents, you're probably better off using one of your archetypes to grab that. For example, the Sphere Oracle would give those.
