As far as underwater combat goes, I think that I'm more or less fine in terms of what I can do. I can make my unarmed attacks piercing which doesn't seem to have a penalty under RAW, and other than needing to figure out what's happening with my air cannon power (I assume it would just change to water blast given that I was able to punch the air hard enough to make a cone of attack with it before) I'm just less mobile than I would be on land. The mobility could hurt, but given the restricted tunnel complex we're looking at now I'm not too worried about it just yet.

Oh. Right. Attacking underwater... I'll have to remember that...


I have a whole bunch of supplements for a line called Cerulean Seas which is an underwater world -- that introduces new mechanics for three dimensional underwater combat such as accelerating and decelerating speeds.

If we end up staying underwater, I'm going to look through that and see what I want to incorporate long term. Right now I just want to get a basic sense of what the characters can do with these complicated builds.

Also, Humble Bundle has a great Numenera deal going on I'm going to pick up -- I commend it to anyone else who's interested in setting info.


Just to update on some logistical issues -- I always just post maps and creature stats and expect people to separate character and player knowledge. It's just too much of a pain to try anything else -- like 'fogging' part of a map, or doing combat when you can't calculate if you hit or not, etc. What I post doesn't necessarily reflect what an individual character can see/know.

just making sure everyone's not waiting for me to do something -- I'm not in any particular hurry -- this is basically an old fashioned hex crawl, so we're not trying to hit any specific points. I'm just going to open up my Numenera collection and develop stuff based on where you end up going -- there are just endless things to do in this setting, it's really fantastic.


Just making sure we're all here and decided on the next course of action. I'm not sure everyone has agreed to go to shore. If we are agreed I'll cut to describing the village. There are of course some serious communication issues you should think about before getting there.


My perception is that we're pretty much all on board here. No one had a vested interest in the underwater exploration that I could tell.

I'm only posting this in games I'm running, because I'd hope to have most of the same people I'm already GMing for participate -- would anyone prospectively be interested in an Al-Qadim sort of game with build rules in the same ball park as what I usually propose? I wouldn't start it for another month or so, I just have this hankering itch to use my pile of Al-Qadim stuff, even just for a 1-off.

I'm with Hayato. I really enjoy the build process, and I've loved putting together characters for these crazy campaigns, but I am starting to feel like I am nearing the limit for the number of active games to post in at once.

Yup, think i'm pretty close to a point where i would actually prefer to run and play the games which are going to enjoy those first.
Then after some of them came to a conclusion and ran their way, welcome the new games :)

I can see how that won't satisfy some, so here's a suggestion:
How about we create a channel for world and character building?
No game, just the building and spinning, including crunch and fluff and concepts of all sorts.
I could make a channel in the discord chat for that as well if wished for.

I'm itching to do a uc rogue or uc ninja if allowed again!
I have Amunet-Ra as monk/rogue, but developing the character for Shattered Star i gathered plenty of ideas for a uc rogue with certain shenanigans :)


I love the idea for a world building channel -- I'd love to build an entire setting from the ground-up that uses these sorts of build assumptions as the baseline, and see where that goes. Just throw out gonzo ideas and see where it goes.

I don't think anyone's actually created a setting where gestalt was the default, it could be a fun exercise.

We could use all of our fun build ideas/theory-crafting as major NPCs.

Maybe we could even assemble some house-rules documents together eventually, or develop some scenarios of an AP in this setting as a collaborative project.

1) I'm currently job hunting, though that is going well. That said, I might have less free time than usual.

The duel is going to be a situation where one of you is 'cloned' into a pocket dimension by the octopuses, and then the rest of you can use buffs on them while your representative fights the champion of the eight-legged ones.

Does anyone have good suggestions for spells/psionic effects for what I'm imagining? I need something where there's a full-powered simulacum/double, as well as a pocket dimension that can be observed.

Eirikur has Favored Enemy (Monstrous Humanoids) +4, which would certainly help in a battle if applicable; but there does not appear to be any overwhelming advantage to him being the challenger from our group. He can also buff someone else with almost anything useful level 3 and below, so there's that for consideration.

The Unfettered Prince has lots of smite and can boost a melee weapon if he can get his hands on one. But also a fine buffer (not least a CL 10 Stoneskin available).

If only because of his current lack of a melee weapon, the Unfettered Prince isn't at the top of his game. So ooc I'll concede to one of the Unarmed specialists.

Eirikur can directly create a weapon for himself... I am sure there is something I could use on the wizard list I could use to create a weapon, but that might be beyond the allowed buffing?
