Arc - Nightmare Dragon
|
Not at all, Arc has shown his battle prowess twice already. It makes a lot of sense to control him.
Sebecloki
I'm on board to continue this and moving to the clips.
Would like to avoid recruitment and rebuilding though.
Roll Initiative before we start Round 2.
EDIT: Also, I'm just going to take control of the battlemaps for all my games. Tell me what you want to do, and I will move everyone.
The Unfettered Prince
All the best to you and yours, Eirikur!

@Sebecloki:
Is there particular information that you would like us to display in our taglines? I've recently tried to make mine more informative.
Sebecloki
Here's an example of a cross over area between the Ninth world and Athas/Khitus/Serital -- this would be a way that the cosmology would overlap.
-In the Red Land of Vralk, there is a volcanic domain where the minions of Queen Auster battle with interlopers from another world, whose forces have come through a series of unstable portals in this region. This region is the Hellscape or Red Waste near the city of Urik. It was created by the destruction of the god of war during the Dawn War, and the dead deity's pungent essence still troubles the immense black pool that bubbles near the three immense mountains in its center known as the HellHeart, and also underlies the entirety of the region underground. This pollution created the race of the abyssals (deformed animals, mostly megafauna), and infernals (the related races of the orcs, tareks, and skarren), who now war with the Red City and its forces, including the obsidian constructs that contain the souls of the kobolds that used to rule the region as vassals of the enigmatic dragon kings.
All three forces, the abyssal mounts of the infernals, the Urik forces, and the Vralkans, have been engaged in a massive conflict around the coterminous area around the Hell Heart, where the 9th world and Athas overlap.

Not that I can think of right now. Such as?
Mine at the moment reads like this:
Anti-Paladin//Oracle of Nature 6 | VMC Bard | Mythic: Champion // Hierophant 1 | Vigor: 31/43 | Wounds: 51/20 | Def: 17 | FF: 10 | DR: 6/Adamantine or Huge | SR: 17 | Saves: F: +17 | R: +10 | W: +15 | CMD: 23 | Init: +11 | Per: 10 | Speed: 60' | Fly: 120' | Senses: Darkvision 120' +6 vs death effects | +2 vs energy drain, negative energy, and necromancy school | +4 vs poison
Is there any information that you'd like handy that I could also fit in there?

This sounds like it could be quite the entertaining fuster cluck to walk into!

Other interesting complications -- the Vralkians of the Ninth World have lots of metal, such that they makes stuff like doors out of it, but no wood. Athas, to some extent, has an opposite problem. Consequently, the forces of Athas will be very interested to steal all the metal from the Vralkians, while the latter will want to colonize the Forest Ridge.
There's going to be a similar situation with respect to the portal between the Steadfast and the Lands of the Dawn. Its also going to terminate in the Lands of the Merchant Princes, an area I made up on the eastern side of the Sea of Silt where different merchant houses replace the sorcerer kings. The Merchant Princes are going to be very interested to get their grubby hands on the resources of the Steadfast, and are already sending some of their assassin armies through covertly (a distinctive aspect of the Lands of the Merchant Princes is they don't have conventional armies or conduct conventional wars, all conflict is adjudicated by endless legions of spies and assassins in an endless largely-hidden conflict).

@Sebecloki:
Only about a quarter of the battlemap image is loading for me. I'm not sure how many octopi are left standing, especially the one next to the Unfettered Prince. So I don't know if he risks an AOO by moving etc etc
I'll have a chance to look over the rules during the weekend.

Can you try a different browser? It works fine on my end -- someone else had a similar issue in another game that was fixed by switching browsers.
The Unfettered Prince
That seems to have solved it, cheers.
The big guy seems content to watch for now. Hmmm.
The Unfettered Prince
In my understanding, Arc's actions were being held for this round and can be used, and the Unfettered Prince has acted.
The Unfettered Prince
@Sebecloki:
Would Erikur and Bizan have acted in round 3? And did Arc's attacks fell another octopus.
@Party:
Do we *want* to negotiatie with this lot? I'm inclined towards no, as they'll still happily bombard villages for half-assed research projects.

The other players aren't posting, so I just kept going. I'll double check on Arc's damage, I didn't think so.
The bigger octopus might be a lot more powerful... but it's your choice.
The Unfettered Prince
Gotcha. But surely it would be worth botting them for this fight? Them not doing anything does disrupt us making any plans either way.
The Unfettered Prince is just fine with challenging the bigger octopus, though he is *very* confident.
The Unfettered Prince
Understood. I actually need to get to bed now. If they haven't posted by tomorrow, I'll work out what they could have done for round 3.
Eirikur, Angel of Death
Oops. I posted before reading this thread. That's ok, it still works and forces the issue of what happens with the village, and we might be able to work the bigger one into "educating" the small ones on proper research etiquette.
The Unfettered Prince
No, that's fine! I'll post for the Unfettered Prince while discussion is an option.
Sebecloki
Edit on the Octopus' statement -- Halfstar is near Harmuth, which is off the coast of Navarene, which is not anywhere near the Beyond. If you look at the setting map, the Steadfast is the whole coast, and the Beyond is on the other side of the Black Riage Mountains. I think there's some error in the Beyond the Deep book I'm looking at. It says Cle is near Harmuth, in the Beyond, but Harmuth's not in the Beyond. I'm not sure what's going on there.
Sebecloki
Also, to give you some sense of what I'm imagining -- if you can figure out a way to interact peaceably with the Halfstar natives, its going to be something like the Village of Hommelet, or Restenford, with a sandbox of little encounters you can have in the area.
The story could also go somewhere entirely different, that's just my plan if you stick around the current area.
The Unfettered Prince
I'm leaning towards a start in Halfstar. We have enough magic that we can get contact going.
What does everyone else think?
Sebecloki
The Aeon Priests are like archaeologists that study the Numenera of the previous Nine Worlds. One of them should be able to provide an intermediator between the party and the locals.
Remember that you can still only speak the local language telepathically, not verbally, so you will currently have to relay all communication through this potential arbiter.
The Unfettered Prince
Well, we do have options for getting around that little problem.
For example, The Unfettered Prince can use:
1. Speak with Plants spell, 5/day
2. Tongue of the Land mythic ability at all times to speak with animals, elementals, fey, and plants.
3. Linguistics at +11 to start working out how to speak the Truth.
4. Inspired Spell mythic ability to cast Comprehend Languages, Share Language, or Communal Share Lanaguage. Tongues too, if the temporary +2 CL increase allows it.

Will post a bit later.

Anyone else want to chime in with questions? The Unfettered Prince is heading towards done.
The Unfettered Prince
Grand job!
The Unfettered Prince
I'll pass on DS9. Though I'd be very interested if the "Wrath of the Il-khanids" idea could be resurrected.
The Unfettered Prince
Negotiations with Uweenis may be about to end, one way or another!
The Unfettered Prince
@Sebecloki: Thank you for clarifying that.
@All: I doubt I'll get to post again before Friday evening.
@Party: Feel free to vote away or add opinions, whether in group mindspeech or with Uweenis. The Prince has a slight preference for fighting but could be convinced to not bother and walk away. He won't swear an oath and would try to discourage anyone else from doing so.
Tenro
@Seb: so you said double our wounds and vigor?
so Vigor is max per level and based on your HD type, then doubled?
Wounds are usually double your CON score so for us it would be CON*4? and the threshold is usually CON so it would be CON*2? or did you mean double both of those as well for *8 and *4 respectively?
Tenro
Wounds = 4 x Charisma or Constitution (wound threshold x 2 constitution or charisma)
Vigor = hit dice + Charisma or Constitution bonus, max each level, x 2 at level 1.
I thought Vigor specifically did not include CON.
and also can anyone use CHA or just undead and constructs?

house rules, I rewrote the vigor and wound system combining wounds and vitality from 3.5 and vigor and wounds from PF1e. I also made it so you can use either CHA or CON to calculate, with the latter being 'morale'.
