I believe that where I posted.

Taendael Caliean |

His voice appears from above the group "Good afternoon, all. I apologize for the interruption, and I know my presence is unexpected, but I swear I mean you no harm, and in fact may be able to assist you in your endeavors." With that, Kiyoshi fades into existence before their eyes - a man-sized shadow given form, with a large number of tails moving out behind him - and drifts down to ground level with his hands out to his side in a gesture of goodwill, though with a noticeable darkening of the area within 20ft of himself as he moves.
Clearly, I went about this character all wrong. I am bowing out gracefully of this campaign.
Unable to communicate or get help from the native population, the naked elf shrugs. Taking a few steps back, the elf unpops his butterfly wings and flies off into the horizon to lands unknown.

Why would my entrance mean you did anything wrong?
Also, hi all! I think I've put more than a week real time into building this character (though I have the feeling that I still missed something), so I'm pretty excited to actually play him.

The Unfettered Prince |

@Taendael Caliean: I'm not sure why your character didn't seek out the building which other characters kept entering. But good luck.
@Kiyoshi Gekido: Hello! Yes, creating characters for this campaign is an involved process.

Sorry to see you go. In many ways it's a bit more difficult for amnesiac characters without known backstories, as it's not necessarily easy to come up with a sensible (or perhaps not so sensible) reason to involve them with a random group of people who're huddled together discussing whether they're going to embark on a perilous expedition to retrieve the consciousness of a rather large, imprisoned entity.

I don't know about that. Curiosity would be the easiest play. "Hey I don't know who I am or where I am, so I'm looking to kill time until I can stumble upon a way to regain my memories and you lot look interesting/not from around here. What are y'all up to?"
"Oh, you're going on a scavenger hunt for something powerful and probably dangerous? There's a waterfall? Sharp rocks at the bottom? Bring it on."

To be fair, he was kind of trying to do the 'interested/curious' thing. However ...
@Taendael Caliean: I'm not sure why your character didn't seek out the building which other characters kept entering.
... this is also what he did -- briefly, he either didn't read or perhaps just didn't comprehend what was going on, translate other people's posts to writing. This, despite at least my own attempt to indicate that 'no, by what you've put in your post you really aren't where the rest of us are'. For example, the townspeople nearby are all looking and pointing at what was (as I recall) a pretty good-sized structure with a wide door which was always closed, but which is now for the first time in years at least open. At least two people were always standing in the actual opening, talking with others inside; /I/ specifically posted that I'd gone to the open entrance, and looked across the street at the naked elf.
He, however, despite clearly (IMO) talking to townspeople (because of course, all of us were inside, and he'd gone to the crowd) in front of a building, then posted this:
The naked elf obvious hears considerable movement from with the domicile. The unknown being will try to open the door.
Not being in a domicile, the door being open, it was clear to all the /rest/ of us that he wasn't where we were. And I tried to tell him that OOCly, but ... he believed otherwise, didn't believe the advice given, and didn't act at all to rectify the situation. So ... *shrugs*

I'd like to get the Mongol game started for real; I know there are a couple of cross-over players here. Did anyone else here want to potentially make a character with almost identical rules for a Mongol/historical era game about the conquest of Persia? You can use almost the same character and just refluff them. The main thing is that everyone is human but gets a hybrid race feat and there's no color alignments.

The Unfettered Prince |

If I get time and energy over the weekend, I'll see about getting updated Razan together.

The Unfettered Prince |

That sounds fine to me.

The Unfettered Prince |

I currently have an earache so my response time might be affected.

Kiyoshi Gekido |

Can you update the map with something indicating where we are and where the people we're conversing with are? Somehow I missed the bit about the sheer size of the embankment (is that supposed to be the mountain on the second version of the map (judging by the scale bar at the top)?) and now I'm very confused.
... the far side of the crossing is a rocky promenade that appears well-insulated from the river's flow.
This describes to me a sidewalk (cobblestone or gravel path?) along the river, or maybe with 15-20ft between the edge of the sidewalk and the river.
There appears to be some kind of camouflaged embankment on the far side of the river ... This embankment is a massive platform mound with four terraces, 10 stories tall. Facing south, it is 100 ft (30 m) high, 951 ft (290 m) long, 836 ft (255 m) wide and covers 13.8 acres (5.6 ha).
An embankment is a foundation used to keep a road or path at a steady level (preventing it from inclining with with natural angle of the slope of the land), but we're talking about a platform 1000ft sq in size and 100ft tall.
So this tells me the sidewalk is either at the top of the embankment and all we can see is basically a 100ft tall wall (of dirt, it seems) on the opposite side of the river, or there's a path/road of some sort near the riverbank, with the bottom of the embankment a little bit further beyond that. I'm not sure how something like that gets camouflaged either.
Over the cacophonous din of the unexpected explosions, a number of guttural voices can be heard, apparently conversing ... Behind the mound, a group of a dozen ape-like creatures are huddled, each of which carries a massive handheld firearm of some sort.
Again, which mound are we talking about here? Is that referring to the mountain on the map? If so, how are we able to hear anything across it? If not, can you add something to show where all of this is occurring?

I'll add some more detail to the image, the characters would be very small. I may have to do a close up.
The model for this area is cahokia in Illinois. There's a monumental mound on the other side of a wide river -- think the mississippi at it's widest point, niagra falls, the amazon etc. You're talking to voices on the other side of the mound, so you're shouting over it basically.

I updated the game, and added a post to give more description. I'm also potentially working on an up close map. Let me know if the last post giving more detail on the area answers your questions.

Kiyoshi Gekido |

Thank you; it does help my mental picture match up with the map. The close-up map would finish that off - just something to orient those of us who have crossed the river in our relation to the ornamental gate, the ceremonial mound that we're yelling over (if in a different location), and the group we're interacting with. Plus, if it happens to come to combat, I'd like to know how far we are from them and the terrain between us.

Hey! It sounds like you guys are only just leaving. With a little luck, and a thumbs up, I might try to catch up. Shame that you already lost one.

Sebecloki |

I just want to check in on where people want to take the campaign.
I think Kiyoshi has outlined what could potentially be a really interesting story arc visiting Qi, the capital of the Steadfast, the Moon, and Perelande, and I want to get started on thinking up encounters etc. if everyone thinks that's what they'd like to do.

The Unfettered Prince |

I, like the Prince, am game for this arc.

"Cal" |

I'm just trucking along.

"Cal" |

I was, and I believe that Nameless was as well.

The Unfettered Prince |

The Prince was also speaking with them.

The Unfettered Prince |

Done!

![]() |

Would you like Oscar to pop in, at town? (No rush)

The Unfettered Prince |

There's a bundle for Monte Cook's Invisible Sun pdfs.

The Unfettered Prince |

No worries. It's entirely understandable that you're busy.

Sebecloki |

I've updated -- I apologize that I had overlooked that the last two posts required responses, so I was waiting all weekend for someone to post, and then realized I needed to.
On another note, now that we're going to do an interplanetary expedition, is everyone up for including Numenera's Mars (Naharrai) on the itinerary? I'd love to get that setting in too since I've been really enjoying the old Barsoom novels recently.

The Unfettered Prince |

These things happen.
I'm still game for going offworld.

The Unfettered Prince |

I may not be able to post again until Saturday. Just a heads up.

"Cal" |

I'm good with it Sebecloki. I read the John Carter books as a boy, and remember liking them.

Did Oscar walk into another conversation that was ongoing?

Sebecloki |

Did Oscar walk into another conversation that was ongoing?
Yes, the other characters we talking with the Aeon Priest about making a trip to Qi, the largest and grandest city in the Steadfast.
Also, everyone, my schedule the last few days has been 14 hrs, 14hrs, and then I am doing 12 hrs, 12 hrs, Saturday and Sunday, and then 6 more hours in the afternoon on Monday, and I have to finish writing a final project for a communication class this weekend. I have Tuesday, Wens, and Thursday off when I should be able to catch stuff up if I can't steal a second during downtime at work to update.

"Cal" |

Glad your schedule is finally calming down some!

The Unfettered Prince |

All the best!

The Unfettered Prince |

I'll be travelling this weekend and I won't be posting again until Monday at least.

The Unfettered Prince |

Take care, Seb. Really, all the best.

I was asked to cover the morning shift this week. Great overtime, but seriously drained. I might not hit a post until next week.
