GM Nefreet wrote:Well, according to the WBL table, it should be 66,000 credits for a level 10 PC...?• New equipment, including:
One Level 10 item, one Level 9 item, and X credits (need to figure out the math)
The initial Playtest rules were calculated differently from WBL, but there's no calculation for 10th level PCs. How about this? You get your choice of either 66,000 credits, OR :
• One 9th level item,
• One 10th level item, and
• 36,000 credits
And if you want to play a Kish using racial weapons (such as the Battlebow), you can remove the archaic property by spending an additional 10% of the base price of the item.
I feel that's a houserule that closely enough mirrors the rules for removing the archaic property from armor, where you spend +10% to add environmental protections.
And, like with this game, if you want your 10th level weapon to be made of a special material, just pay for that extra cost out of your credit pool.

Hi all!
Here's the character sheet of my addition to the mainly Kish group that might leave the Ruined Clouds and hunt the Evil Devourer's people.
Mystic Healer, spell oriented (Spell Focus & Spell Pen' and djezet armor), with a little axe and some STR to bop miscreants on the head.
Just a few skills (Mysticism, Survival...).
No real equip' to share, except for one BIG coil of rope!
For any advice, and so others can opt out of something that I cover if you want.

Thanks for the kind words all. A little bit of time has helped but your words of support have done even more.
It does seem like it's becoming more clear to people how deeply embedded and accepted bigotry has become in our society and that provides some hope that things might actually start to turn around.
I hate to get political for a bit here but if you guys could push back against people in your lives that make blanket statements about "Muslims" or "Islam" then that would be wonderful. Criticising specific Muslims or specific understandings of Islam on the other hand is not only perfectly okay but necessary. Blanket otherizations and demonization of us though is what makes tragedies like this far more likely to take place.
And that applies to any vulnerable group, not just the one that me and mine happen to be a part of.
Playing with you all is a bright spot in my life and brings me a heck of a lot of joy. I hope that I'll have the ability to keep doing so for a long time to come.

Trying to every day ^_^
I'm gay, and a longtime friend of mine is Palestinian, so between him educating me on the Israeli occupation and me educating him on sexual orientation and gender identity we've both come a long way since we first met.
Loving how the New Zealand Prime Minister is drawing the attention away from [name redacted].

The more I think, the more I like the idea of an operative (ghost) priest of Zon-Kuthon. Maybe, with one level dip to solarian - just for fashion.
P.S. Btw, I have a friend, who did one of the best SFS-concepts I've ever see: corporate agent who is a follower of the Lord of Midnight. All his life is pain, and under his three-piece suit and polished smile hides a desire to bring the same pain (corporate, mostly) to people around. In the game it looks funny and subtle.

Chronicles for this event can be found HERE ^_^
EDIT: Or, at least, Pangea's and John's. Thought I uploaded them all as I headed out the door this morning, but Zolvi's and Varnais' aren't showing up. I'll check when I get home tonight and reupload them.

Oh?!
So we will survive?!
Thanks a lot!
'John' Rebus |
*nods*
Technically, in campaign mode, you could do the entire thing with 7th Sea rules, or run it as a play with interpretive dance, and we would still receive credit ;-)
Pangea-Mu |
I never thought that changing the rules meant not having to survive and make it through to success (unless the additional rule is that you are immortal or such).
I'd always thought you could play it with 7th Sea rules as you say, but that you needed to survive and complete things, since you get credit accordingly (if you've completed less than half of the adventure, you receive half of the adventure’s credits, XP, and Fame etc.).
'John' Rebus |
Nowhere in the description of campaign mode does it say that.
I mean, back when it was first introduced, I vaguely remember one of the campaign coordinators noting that you could, technically, do it as 'story-time mode', and just narrate a story, and that would fulfill the criteria for campaign mode.
GMs have certainly noted that when, for example, sanctioning documents have taken a while to come out, and they have already been part way through the AP when it happened, that they could do an 'AP summary thus far', and it would be technically okay for campaign mode.
Whether or not your PC survives the entire book in campaign mode doesn't matter; you could have your PC die in every combat, but when you finished the book, your designated SFS PC would simply receive full credit.
The advantage of campaign mode is that it is 'no risk / full reward' for your actual SFS PC, with the downside that you are (effectively) losing an entire level's worth of play with that PC, for every book that you complete.
That said, technically, I believe the GM should have waited until we actually finished the book (however it is being run) to send out the chronicles, but I am not going to complain ;-)
Pangea-Mu |
I agree with you, just that I'd never thought of that aspect.
I'd only thought of different rules for actual gaming.
So, the DM can then just give half credit to all, narrating that you completed half!
the downside that you are (effectively) losing an entire level's worth of play with that PC, for every book that you complete.
Yes... I'm going to funnel credit from the last books of Dead Suns + credit for all 3 Signal of Screams into the same character, basically losing him from level 7 to 13.

Chronicles uploaded!
I'll bot Varnais by lunchtime to get us moving on.
GM Nefreet |
She sighs, noisily draws air into her lungs, lets out a loud roar... and starts to sing!
I thoroughly enjoyed that ^_^
Thank you!

Very good questions.
I should have asked what Subtier everyone wanted. Here are the variable rewards according to the Playtest Blog:
Levels 1-2: 720 credits (2,160 credits for Adventure Path module)
Levels 3-4: 1,460 credits (4,380 credits for Adventure Path module)
Levels 5-6: 4,085 credits (12,255 credits for Adventure Path module)
Levels 7-8: 5,835 credits (17,505 credits for Adventure Path module)
Let me know if you need your Chronicle amended.
Regarding the date, the beautiful thing about PbP is that you have a timestamped history of playing your character on file. If a GM questions the date of your Chronicle, you can point them to this:
Poit wrote:If a player is playing playtest character in a game that does not finish in a single day (such as playing an AP volume in multiple sessions, or playing a play by post game), and that game starts before 1/16 but finishes after 1/16, can the player continue playing the playtest character until the end of that game?As long as the character starts a game prior to the cut-off, I'm fine with it.

Regarding the Chronicle for Book 5 (and presumably Book 6), they would have to utilize the standard Campaign Mode rules.
Either apply the Chronicle as is (Tier 9-10 for Book 5, Tier 11-12 for Book 6), or have the rewards reduced down to Tier 1-2.
Pangea-Mu |
I am fine with lvl 7-8
Thanks!

MAYBE I AM SAVED!!!!
Does my Force Field from the Purple Sphere Aeon Stone take the damage?!
If so, it is 5 damage that is soaks

Hey guys I'm going on vacation starting tomorrow for about five days so any posting will be real sporadic until the 16th or so!
Also I'm starting a new job on the 22nd. I have NO idea what that'll do to my posting rate but at least for a while it'll be slow for sure as I figure out how much free time I will have. Because of that I think I'm going to sadly bow out of continuing into book 5.
Pangea-Mu |
Oh ((( Sheher (((
Have fun on your vacation, and I hope the new job goes well.
GM Nefreet |
Will try to get a post up tonight, or if not, tomorrow.
Back to back to back double shifts are making me @.@

I am going to have to bow out after this book I'm afraid. Work, a pending lengthy vacation, and general gaming over-extension means I've got a bit too much going on to keep up with another AP volume.
But Zolvi's still gonna fight her damnedest here to get the info and help the rest of you figure out exactly where this thirteenth Gate is :)
Pangea-Mu |
Oh (( Zolvi... sad to see you go.
I will put Kush the Kish up on the new page.
Thanks for pursuing with this!

Apologies for forgetting about your Chronicle, Varnais.
HERE you go!
I left the original Chronicle up in case you change your mind.

I have a corporate visit today and tomorrow that will prevent me from posting during my usual downtime. Might be silent until Wednesday.

Given that today is May the 4th, and tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo (are either of those celebrated outside of the US?), I'll give everyone through the weekend to post.
Pangea-Mu |
In France we celebrate May 1st.
Cinco de Mayo we sure do not (ha ha! I doubt the French even remember the Mexicans kicked their butts, that was probably deleted from the collective historic memory).
What is May 4th? (May the Fourth?).
Pangea-Mu |
Okay, the May the Fourth Be With You day?
GM Nefreet |
It's a homonym in English:
May the Force be with you
May the 4th be with you
So like yesterday there was a giant inflatable Yoda hovering outside the Capitol building where I live (and Storm Troopers inside) and there were science fairs, pub crawls, movie showings and people dressing up and going out.
Pangea-Mu |
I understand the pun, I just had never heard about this, never heard it used.
Fun what’s happening where you live!
Pangea-Mu |
We're losing Zolvi (((
Be safe, and hope to play with you one day again!

I'm heading up to PaizoCon Thursday, and will mark this Campaign as inactive before I leave.
Will probably start Book 5 some time after my brain returns to a pre-PaizoCon state ^_^

Have fun!
Pangea-Mu is ready to remain on planet, and slip into oblivion.
