I would like to make a fast PBP Playtest of the new Starfinder classes. My ideal would be to do a high level playtest, using a scenario in the 5-8 range. Your playtest character is treated like a pregen, and would be applied to one of your real characters. Your real character does not have to be the level of your Playtest character. So if we did a 5-8, you would all be creating 8th level Playtest characters.
1) Don't sign up unless you really want to Playtest.
2) Don't sign up unless you can put in some time and energy over the holidays, and give me a couple posts a day.
3) Your characters would be a Vanguard, Witch or Biohackers that you would build according to character-building rules Thursty listed for the Org Play run of the Playtest.
4) I am looking to do a fast run, with Exuberant roleplay. My goal is to end by January 15, so that we can all submit feedback.

I LOVE the Vanguard, so my preference would be to play that.
The only Tier 5-8 I haven't done is King Xeros, but I can burn a GM Nova to play anything else.

King Xeros is interesting. It has Starship Tags, and that's something that's good to test. Let me read through that one, and see if I am interested in running it for this!

My condolences on the loss of your sister-in-law. Don't despair about the fostering process. It is a struggle, and can be both a blessing and infuriating at the same time. Don't be afraid to reach out and talk to other family, or friends that may have fostered before. Or even just other parents. I have some very close friends who went through the same situation about 3 years back. I learned a lot from them on parenting in general :)

What sort of Playtest character do you want to build? I want to build a sort of ethereal pharmacologist. One that uses esoteric knowledge of plants and minerals from a thousand worlds to bolster her allies and sow confusion and chaos among her enemies.

What's been your favorite SFS Adventure so far, and why? So far, I have REALLY enjoyed 1-16 Dreaming of the Future the most. This is probably becasue I played it live at Origins this year, right before it hit the shelves, and my GM was none other than Natalie Kertzner herself! It was a fun game, and the look on Natalie's face when I announced I was throwing a grenade into a packed dance club floor was priceless...especially when it exploded in a cloud of purple smoke :)

Sauros is from (insert cosmopolitan Vesk coastal region here), and loves all manner of aquatic sports. His love of SURFING, though, led to many fond bonfires on the beach discussing the entropic energy of the ocean (but in a much less intelligible sort of awe).
And then one day it hit him. Or, rather, BIT him. A 17-foot long scale-toothed shark. Instinctively, Sauros responded with a quick punch to its sensory feelers, and the powers of the Vanguard opened up to him.
"But, like, it totally hurt, dood. I still wake up some nights thinkin' that scaly's got me!"
"Meticulous! Disciplined! Someone who makes the study and practical application of natural and synthetic chemicals cannot afford to be anything but!"
Karyn still recalled those words from her master in the biohacking arts at Greentree Ltd. The small corporation was a niche provider of esoteric neurochemicals and synthsprays. At least, that was their primary public-facing business. In fact, their grey-market products provided at least double the income of the aboveboard stuff, and those included highly-trained poisoners and neurochemists. Always for hire, never for sale, and never for government entities. That was what she learned as a young girl of 6.
Growing up in the GTL for Karyn meant constant study and testing, hand-on experiments with some of the deadliest chemicals known to the Pact Worlds - many of the experiments done on herself - and learning to be 'meticulous and disciplined'. Those two words were beaten into her, sometimes physically and sometimes chemically, over the 14 years of her study.
At 20, she had taken so many poisons, hallucinogens, neuroboosters, and endocrine synths that no legitimate medscanner could even make sense of her bloodstream, much less diagnose it. The last time she had tried to use an out-of-the-box Abadar Corp Medkit2000, the thing's had frozen. She was surprised it hadn't melted down in frustrated confusion on the spot.
That was how she found herself now, at 22. A 'graduate' of GTL, chemically bound to them to repay her training in services at their discretion. She was at their beck and call. When the comm unit buzzed with a specific code, she went where they said and did as she was told. In between, her time was her own. She had fallen in with a sorry lot of Starfinders a few months ago, and found that the pay (usually in looted goods) was good and the lifestyle well in keeping with what she wanted. Fast-paced and with plenty of opportunities to practice her craft. Life was good, and when it wasn't...well, "better living through modern chemistry" as her old master used to say.
What are your favorite things to do? Poison things. Seriously! Not deadly poisons, usually. Just some hallucinogenics. Maybe a euphoric or two in someone's caftap. I mean, have you ever seen a cafe full of people all suddenly burst into song? Karyn has. She's even created the perfect combination of euphorics and neuropathics to make everyone sing the same song...and in tune...in any language she wants. Now that is some prime entertainment there!
What shenanigans do you like to do in combat? The old bait and switch, obviously. One minute you're looking at a petite human girl, and the next you're mind is so fogged with hallucinogens that you're fighting a 15-foot vesk with purple horns and wings made of fire. Also, ranged injection weapons used on allies. I mean, who wouldn't enjoy getting away with shooting her friends in the back?
Accursed timing! That’s six! Wait, I counted both Sauros and Nefreet...I’m sixth! Just FYI, I’m relatively inexperienced in Starfinder compared to my pathfinder Knowledge so excuse me if I’m a bit slow on picking up certain things, but I am trying to get back into playing it.
I am willing to take all six of you if you can get together characters by Friday. Can you do that? Since it sounds like you all will be Playtesting, let's try to divide fairly evenly between all three classes.

I have a fantastic thought for a Witchweaver, but I can fill any of the other classes if there's slanted demand one way or another.

There are specific rules on creating your Playtest Pregens. You can use any race in the CRB, including legacy.

To be honest I am still pretty new to SFS, so I have only finished 1-01 and 1-02 so far, so I will reserve judgement on this so far. (Though I ran a heavily modified 1-09 for my IRL non-SFS group last night and it was a blast.

Who are you and where are you from?
My name is James Jones, JJ for short. I was born to lower-class parents on Verces. I was born deaf, and my parents couldn't really afford cybernetics to fix my hearing. Which is totes fine, because when I hit puberty I began to hear music. I still remember that first melody...
Anyway. Thought I might have been goin crazy for a while. Docs said they had no idea where the music was coming from. After being passed around various specialists (mostly therapists who though I was inventing things to cope with my deafness), someone finally checked me for psychic potential and bam, vindication. My mind was reaching out to a different reality. With some training I could use that psychic power to pick which realities I was listening to, and maybe even work magic through it.
I was picked up by a psychic institute on Verces, and learned how to focus my powers. I took to writing music, remixing the music I heard into new things, and I shared that music. Folks loved it. DJ AltReel I called myself
Turns out though? I wasn't into the whole scene. Parties and dancing and such. Not my deal. So I stopped sharing my music publicly. I still have a bunch of fans out there, waiting for me to release something new. Maybe I will someday.
These days though, I try to make the universe a better place. The Stewards were too stuffy, so I joined the Society. We do good, or we try anyway. Hopefully it's a net positive in the end.
What are your favorite things to do?
I like to write music, mostly. Been seeing a few people recently but it's hard when so few of them want to learn to sign. Telepaths are alright, but it ends uo pretty one-way at times.
I wear headphones these days, blasting music I can't hear. Easier than trying to explain. People can make their own assumptions.

I like to mess with the fabric of reality to support my allies. Also, I like to fire my BASS CANNON

Xesh was a test subject of a particularly insidious group of Eoxians hoping to understand the Swarm, but when an experiment went haywire it destroyed all of the researchers—leaving Xesh alone with powers that they knew nothing about. They hijacked their way onto a ship bound for Absalom Station in hopes of finding an explanation for their new-found abilities.
What are your favorite things to do?
Xesh finds surprising solace in the study of thermodynamics, of all things.
What shenanigans do you like to do in combat?
Mostly using the Acceleration discipline to increase the damage of AoEs that they are in the middle of while also reducing the damage with the Friendly Fire discipline—maybe even set a grenade off right on their chest.

Usually GMs just leave them blank anyways for the players to fill out when it comes time to apply them.
That's a good point. If you are waiting to Level 8 to apply credit, you may leave chronicle number blank, as well some of the other details if you are not applying this chronicle right away.
If you are applying this chronicle right away to a character below levels 7-8, I need to know what level you are, and I need those chronicle #s, fame, etc. There's special rules in place to allow you to apply this chronicle right now to your regular character for this Playtest.
Jesse is trying to encourage everyone to follow the guide in filling out chronicle sheets. As VC of this region, I need to set the example in my own play.

PS As for slotting boons, no one gets to slot any boons for this except faction boons for the character to which you are applying your chronicle. Again, special Playtest rules. Man, I'm going to miss the absence of ship boons when I playtest.

Oh yeah! We have the author here! It never really clicked in my mind that scenario authors participated in PFS/SFS XD
A middling height human enters the room and looks around. He's wearing giant headphones which you can hear blaring music at an unhealthy volume, even from this distance. The human has shoulder length brown hair. His armour is dark, but there's a neon sheen to it that suggests if you had a blacklight it would probably light up quite brightly. A heavy weapon is slung across his back, and a smaller rifle is fit snugly into a holster molded into the armour
You'd guess the human is no more than 25 or 26, and has an affable smile on his face as he looks around.

Tough one.... I think my favorite scenario is Sanctuary of Drowned Delight because I loved the subtly creepy vibe in it and Morlamaw are awesome! Solar Sortie was the most fun I've had in a Starfinder scenario though. I played a Technomancer and had a lot of fun implanting suggestions in Envar's addled brain... such as licking Razor's ears.

Whizzer is a Ysoki Witchwarper from the Diaspora. He's a smuggl... I mean pilot whose ability to see other realities and skill at piloting both stem from his addiction to Hyperleaf. Whizzer recently left a group of pirates to join the Starfinders because the pay was steadier, the living conditions were better, and there seemed to be less chance of having his ship gunned down by the authorities. Having your ship blow up REALLY kills your high!
What are your favorite things to do?
Flying and Hyperleaf. Not necessarily in that order.
What shenanigans do you like to do in combat?
Support based shenanigans. Spells and Paradigm shifts that require Whizzer to touch you involve him licking you, and thereby transferring some of his high(and its benefits) to his friends via his saliva.

I'll be applying this to a level 6 character immediately.
Also, looking at the Witchwarper skills, a lot of abilities seem to work around changing energy types - so swapping cold to fire or something along those lines - so maybe we should all coordinate oone energy type to get resistance against? That way we can have a group tactic of "employ electricity" and can have our melee folks charging in while us casters and blasters don't need to worry about not damaging them.
I'll have Karyn finished tonight. Just have to type up her stats and buy equipment

I still need to set up my maps and such, but I figure that I can get that done today as you are all making your first posts. I'm going to start with a chance for you guys to introduce yourselves in character, and then roll you into the scenario proper, and yes, I am doing it with a cameo from one of my own PCs who's this level. You've never played these guys before, and the scenario kind of starts in a rush, so I'm adding a little padding before you get there.

The goal of the Bot Me spoiler is for the GM to be able to copy paste your actions as quickly as possible. It should definitely include dice rolls for attack/damage for all your weapons. If you have a "standard pattern" (like an envoy with Get em & Clever attack for example), include that as one block.
