just so you know, I hate the dnd alignment system and I won't kill anything or anyone just because the bestiary says it's evil. Death is a very strong sentence and you need to actually have done something equally evil.

I adore the classic alignment system, but feel the exact same way. Only angels and devils (and Sith) deal in absolutes; plain old mortals on the other hand are just that - just people.

And I'm more concerned about Sam protecting you right now, Pike.

Yeah... that's a distinct possibility. OOC, I don't like what he's doing. But IC, he's very stubborn and still feels responsible for these youngsters, except for Kurai.

Also, I'm seeing something of a pattern emerging.
- Enemy gets the jump on us.
- Pike gets smacked.
- Tai practically one-shots the threat.
- And somehow Sam is dead last in initiative despite having the highest score!

Oh, wait... looking at goblins' stats, they actually have equal initiative modifiers to Sam. A bit of a moot point now, though.

OBJECTION, your honor! A touch attack of 12 would indeed hit a man such as Pike under normal circumstances. The old warhorse is not as spry as he once was, and only has a touch AC of 11. HOWEVER! These are not normal circumstances! Recall that the young wizard Samton Verro, in attendance at this very courtroom today, cast the spell Protection from Evil on Pike. The spell last a full minute, is still in effect and provides, among several other effects, a +2 deflection bonus to AC. Deflection bonuses also add to touch AC! Your honor, the defendant's total touch AC is not 12 but 13! The defense holds that Ol' Pike is still standing!

Yeah, I dunno. Should be apologizing really, as either Pike or myself should have noted temporary spell effects such as these in our posts. The GM has enough to keep track of without having to remember those. But yeah, I think Pike wasn't hit, just barely, by that firework shot.

Then again, looking over Pike's stats, I can't quite figure out why he's written as having 11 touch AC. His Dex is a flat 10. So maybe that's a mistake and he was hit...?
