To shake off the maddening and wearying limitations of time and space and natural law—to be linked with the vast outside—to come close to the nighted and abysmal secrets of the infinite and the ultimate—surely such a thing was worth the risk of one’s life, soul, and sanity! -- H.P. Lovecraft, The Whisperer in Darkness (1931)

I know we were moving on and I don't want to slow us down some more, but is it ok if Broom intervenes on Percival's behalf? We kind of split the timeline a bit.
Also, am I mistaken or do we actually have a second prisoner as well?

Sorry for the extended absence. I will catch up on posting in the next day or 2.

If he did hang back while we proceeded then I'm good with moving forward. Broom would have tried to intervene if it was happening right in front of her.
Thanks Broom. In that case I think Lachen dispatched Percy.

The position looks fine for me
Sorry, everybody, I'm slammed at work through the middle of September when I should've been done with this project at the end of July. I'll try to keep up on posting.

Ooops, sorry. I thought they were living plants that had just been animated by magic.
If they are unliving then my vampiric touch didn't do anything.
No I think I was wrong. They have the Plant type so they are living. They are mindless, though, so they're immune to mind-affecting along with other plant traits.

"Living" is all DT needs to be effective.
Apparently, enough anger and fear concentrated together is toxic to anything alive.

Not a problem on my side, Broom. I know I've been pretty bad about posting over the past couple months. Thanks for posting!

Haunts? From you, Karl? Are you OK? :-)
I suppose we could just back away and wait for the haunt to settle before looking around... unless Broom actually laid the horses to rest by cleaning the cleaver. That seems a bit too easy for whatever they went through, though...
It's an AP and I do what I'm told. ;)
This one, at least, is relatively easy to put to bed compared to some of them. It's the ones that are like 'you have to find the hidden remains in a bricked up part of the building and then bury them in a cemetery while saying a prayer to the god they worshipped by finding the particular holy book in the library and inferring they were Calistrian' that I hate.
No complaints here! :D Wow, a SIMPLE haunt??!! Where did Paizo go...
Yeah this haunt's solution was literally "take the cleaver out of the stable". Maybe the mod writer hates haunts as much as I do. :D

Do we know what an Elder Thing is?
Broom does. She rolled a 20 something on her Knowledge check a while back so she knows a bunch of fluff and some crunch.
I'm not sure she told the rest of you what exactly an Elder Thing is, though.
FM Human (Varisian) [ HP: 47/68 | AC: 16 (12 T, 14 F) | CMB: 3, CMD: 15 | F: 8, R: 4, W: 5 | Init: 6 | Percep: 6] Sorcerer (Aberant) 6
Broom did talk about them, I will look for the post.

Suddenly it dawned on her. "Oh!" she gasped as she covered her mouth. "We think We know what the smell might be." she whispered.
Broom glanced around with a mixture of dread and giddy excitement. "There might be an Mgepoghnah, or umm... She struggled for a moment looking for the right words in the common tongue. ...ah! An Elder Thing nearby." Glancing around again as if she expected the creature to be just standing in the grass.
"They aren't usually nice, but they come from the darkness above. The fishman comes from the darkness below, and that we can hear and might even be able to get to ourselves. But the darkness above, how would We ever get to see that? Maybe the Elder Thing could show Us, if it doesn't just try to kill us first."
....
"Well, they look funny. Kind of like tall stretched out barrels. They have tentacles all around their centre and bottom that are very strong. They could squeeze the breath out of you if you get wrapped in one. And they have a head that looks like a starfish on top that has eyes all around it. They can see everywhere at once!"
Broom pause for a moment reflecting on a recurring thought she had when thinking of creatures associated with her other parts. "We still think it is strange how all these creatures from the darkness above and below have so many more eyes. Even Us though Us isn't entirely like the others."
Broom thought a moment more "Oh, and they have five wings spaced around their body too so that they can fly in the darkness above, and because they travel up there cold doesn't affect them at all and they can ignore pretty strong fires, but can still be burned if the fire is really hot."

Unrelated, I just learned that there is a character in Baldur's Gate 3 called 'Us'. I just wanted to point out that Broom's 'Us' was made and named before the video game ;P

Is that a save for half, or to negate?
Do you want me to factor cover into my calculations, or do you want to take care of that?
Save for half damage, you're right. Sorry!
15 touch misses regardless, so don't worry about it.

What was Des' title while working for the Count? Like how Broom was a Doctor?
People have been calling her Lady. I've been thinking she's just a noble who sort of ran Lowls's outside activities before Melisenn Kororo showed up. She could have been like a majordomo or castellan or something like that? But I'm not sure she had an official title within the household.

kn dungeoneering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Broom grimaced at the mess that was being made, but was still excited at seeing yet another denizen of the dark above.
"It is a yogfm'l lllln'gha gn'th'bthnk" broom frowned as she struggled to find a suitable translation. "A star... blood eater?" The literal translation didn't feel right, but her face lit up suddenly when she found the right word "Vampire! Star Vampire. They come from the dark above like the Elder Things."
FM Human (Varisian) [ HP: 47/68 | AC: 16 (12 T, 14 F) | CMB: 3, CMD: 15 | F: 8, R: 4, W: 5 | Init: 6 | Percep: 6] Sorcerer (Aberant) 6
Is it correct that Broom doesn't actually see anything yet on her turn?
She can't hit the Perception check even on a 20 so that is correct.
Just checking, is the lack of effect from the shadow despite its "all attacks are treated as magic" ability?
Sorry forgot Shadow's attacks are magic! Shadow does full damage, my mistake.

We'll be here when you can post, no problem.
I was just reviewing my house rules and wanted to remind (tell you for the first time? could be, sorry) everybody you get free Skill Unlocks at 5/10/15/20 skill ranks. Rule page from another game here.
And that feats that provide a flat bonus scale with level.

Just FYI I'm going to add another PC. Everybody say hi to Hannah Sunheart, and isn't a normal person hanging out with a bunch of scary weirdos the real weirdo?

It may not impact anything, but the name Broom was adopted when she awoke in Briarstone with no memory. The group at that time assumed the name of the items that they had on their persons.
Her actual name before the mind wipe was Mashiki Malbourne, or Dr. Malbourne in the Count's employ. Even after this revelation she has just kept using the name Broom.

Broom still has see invisibility active (it lasts an hour), does she see anything with that?
Oh yeah, forgot about that. She sees a bloated figure dressed in black in the coffin. The description is: "This black-clad figure has a pale, puffy face from which its yellow-irised eyes glare with equal parts intensity and insanity."
Here's a picture.
