| Poppo Hedgehopper |
All these spirits!! Poppo looks around in wonder at how alive the dead actually are.
He then begins searching the rooms that the doll said are empty.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
| Benjen Harris |
Like Peggy said these rooms appear to have been servant quarters, Poppo finds nothing of use in these rooms other than a masterwork dagger tucked underneath one of the pillows.
Sure I'll come with you Peggy says walking up to Nalia and holding up her hand with an expectation that Nalia will hold the dolls hand.
Wow can't believe that amount of posts, may there be many more to come!
Nalia Malphason
|
I can sense evil so I think I will do this prior to taking the dolls hand. She struggles to keep her thoughts off her face so as not to offend the doll that she doesn't want to touch.
Now if things start to get busy I'll have to drop your hand to draw my sword. Can you be hurt? Are you safe with us? As I'm really tall and you're rather short, and leaning over to hold your hand as we walk is going to get painful after a bit, would you rather ride on my shoulder?
How big of a doll is she? Ben, you really creep me out sometimes!
| Benjen Harris |
[/ooc] Muhaha probably will creep you out a few more times throughout this campaign.[/ooc]
The doll is actually quite big about the size of Poppo so you wouldnt have to lean down to hold the dolls. No they cant really hurt me unless they use magic or have a sparkly weapon.
| Benjen Harris |
Turngut searches the rooms with Poppo, they are empty the only notable thing you guys find is a masterwork dagger.
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
As big as Poppo! Now I'm creeped out.
Poppo hands the masterwork dagger to Turngut for safe keeping, then moves the group along to the next door, he listens at it and checks for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
It all seems perfectly safe, so Poppo opens the door.

I'm going to send beat rip to check out the opposite room
can I get a marker for beatrip for the map? Can we get fancy and have different forms as it effects gameplay? i was picturing alice from wonderland, or alice from resident evil ectoplamic form maybe slimer from ghost busters? idk
| Benjen Harris |
I found a Slimer picture if you want to use a different picture let me know.
Poppo opens the door to find what was once a child's room This was me and my sister Matilda's room. I miss her a lot you know.No enemies and besides a few intact story books this room doesn't have anything of use.
Beatrip enters through the wall of the adjacent room which appears to be another children's room. Under the table in this room is a hooded child curled into a ball crying. A chest is in the corner of the room.
bobie
|
I pickup the books. Such wondrous things should not be left lying around.
Beatrip returns and announces to the group:
Another brat is hiding under a table in there. I think we should kill it.
Nalia Malphason
|
Bobie, get control of your spirits! We don't kill children. Peggy, is your sister also like you, now a doll or is she still hiding somehow? Who do you think that is?
So I'm walking hand in hand with a Poppo size doll? I must have missed that. This is weird! And super creepy!
| Benjen Harris |
No my sister and brothers are all gone. That's the scary girl in there, shes scary, I dont like her.
Yeah it is quite creepy
bobie
|
Why don't you go talk to her then?
Beatrip, mind your manners girl. We talked about being nice to folks
I groan over the hostility Beatrip seems to relish while I ask Erondina's GUIDANCE (+1) on nalia.
How we want to do this? I'm actually enjoying this a lot. I like the level of macabre we are at.
| Turngut |
I'm listening to Glass Cannon Podcast's Strange Aeons AP play-through. It's a Lovecraftian horror adventure. This is very similar (and better in my opinion, Ben!)
@Bobie - When Beatrip talks, does the voice just go to Bobie's head or do we all hear it? I almost imagine that she wrests control of Bobie's voice and speaks through him in a strange, almost torturous way. Creepy!
Turngut doesn't seem bothered by the doll, but the spectral Beatrip causes him to start every time she comes out of the wall. When she barks the order to kill the crying girl, Turngut immediately starts going to the door before Nalia's words stop him.
Scary girl is not good? Is Turngut going in and punching or no? Now Turngut has nice shiny dagger too!
Turngut readies himself to rush in the room, but with all of Bobie's minions, he's not sure what he's supposed to do anymore!
| Benjen Harris |
Thanks Craig! I'm taking a lot of inspiration from the Dark Souls and Bloodborne series with a bit of Lovercraftian horror mixed in.
I'm ready to back you up if you move in there big guy! Jespar says glancing at all the undead that now make up the group, something that a sellsword like him has probably never experienced before.
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Is the scary girl in room 3?
Poppo looks around at everyone, quite frankly overwhelmed. With an obedient zombie, an angry spirit, and a doll inhabiting spirit, and now we have a scary girl (spirit) too! A probably not a great idea, crosses his mind.
Yeah Turngut, let's head into that room and see what happens.
As the words leave his mouth he instantly regrets them.
| Benjen Harris |
Turngut steps into the room and sees a hooded child under a table crying who doesn't seem to react to the door opening.
Nalia Malphason
|
Nalia waits her turn to move into the room and draws her trusted sword as she does.
@ben—decided on blind fight. Thanks for your suggestion.
Nalia Malphason
|
This poor girl must just be terrified living in this pit of despair. And who wouldn’t be scared of an animated halfling size doll?
With that she pushes her way forward and try’s to talk soothingly to the scared child hiding under the desk, bending down to try and get a better look.
I need to talk before Bobie’s Spirit scares her....Little one, don’t be scared. We’re here to help you if we can.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Not sure which room to put myself in.
Poppo follows in and moves into the corner looking for a shadow to disappear into.
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
bobie
|
bobbie and co move into the room.
Beatrip, sensing Turngut's discomfort around her, brushes up against him.
Nalia Malphason
|
Peggy, does this girl do anything except cry? Have you seen her move around or interact with anyone?
With a big sigh and audible gulp, she extends her hand and tries to tap the little girl on the shoulder.
Little girl, how can we help you?
Should have asked before I reached out my hand, can I sense any evil from this room or this creature?
bobie
|
BOO! Beatrip screams as Nalia reaches out her hand. Remember, you said you don't hurt children.
So when beatrip is internal you can't hear her. When she materializes in either form, you should be able to hear her child like voice.
| Benjen Harris |
As Nalia reaches out to touch the child on the shoulder it faces toward Nalia revealing a fox skull in the place of its heads, it goes to bite Nalia.
Attic Whisperer Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 211d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0So thats one damage
This strange childlike creature bites into Nalia, I'm gonna need a will save from you Nalia as it tries to steal your breath.
Initiative Time. Bobie your ghost and zombie will act on your turn.
Nalia Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Nalia
Jespar
Turngut
Bobie
Peggy
The Attic Whisperer then reaches out to touch Nalia.
Attic Whisperer Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
The Attic Whisperer touches the center of your chest Nalia and I'm gonna need another will save.
Everyone can go.Put yourself where you would be Poppo since you said you moved into the room.
| Turngut |
As Beatrip brushes against Turngut, he lets out a very unorc-like yelp and jumps forward with a start. Clumsily trying to cover up his embarrassment, he shuffles up to Nalia and tries to look interested in what she is doing, but is really more interested in keeping a wary eye on Beatrip (hence the poor init roll!)
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Poppo moves across the room slowly (half speed), sticking to the shadows. He moves toward the strange thing attacking Nalia.
double move
@Jon - I post another possible token for Beatrip, keep or delete
@Benj - Could you link the maps in your profile, make it quicker to get to than scrolling to the top each time.

knew that was coming, just figured I had to touch her to start combat.
will save for bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
will save for touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
If I'm able to attack I'll swing with my readied sword.
power attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 261d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
confirm power attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 71d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
| Benjen Harris |
Poppo double moves around, gonna give the Attic Whisperer a perception check to try and spot you Poppo.
Attic Whisperer Perception Check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
As Poppo tries to sneak around the Whisperers head snaps and looks right at you Poppo Super high perception for this thing!
Nalia as the creature bites into you feel as your very breath is pulled from your lungs, you are fatigued.
A fatigued character can neither run nor charge and takes a –2 penalty to Strength and Dexterity. Doing anything that would normally cause fatigue causes the fatigued character to become exhausted. After 8 hours of complete rest, fatigued characters are no longer fatigued.
And as the Attic Whisperer reaches out and touches you, you feel that you can no longer speak. Instead you all hear Nalia's voice come from the skull of this creature Little girl how can we help you? Die it responds in a low gravely voice.
But Nalia retaliates and slices the creature.
Jespar will move up and try to stab the creature.
Jespar Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 171d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
But supernaturally the creature dodges out of the way of Jespar.
Turngut and Bobie you guys are up.

Realize I might know something but I can't tell anyone about it. :)
AC 17 now and -1/-1 on my attack
| Turngut |
Turngut appears a bit shaken as Nalia is unnaturally silenced. The orc doesn't fear much, at least not much from this world.
No! Stop with the scary! He shouts as he drops the dagger, draws the long spear and attacks.
Longspear POWER ATTACK: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Ah poo. He is shaken!
| Benjen Harris |
Nalia knows this creature is called an Attic Whisperer. Attic Whisperers are children who have faced a lot of neglect, so much so that they die of it and become an Attic Whisperer. You get two questions.
Turngut misses his attack.
Peggy moves up and casts protection from evil on Turngut. Come on mister orc you can get it.
Initiative Order Round 2
Attic Whisperer
Poppo
Nalia (1 Damage, Fatigued, Stolen Voice)
Jespar

Peggy
The attic whisperer will five foot step to Poppo and reach out to touch him.
Attic Whisperer Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Poppo is able to dodge out of the way of the whisperer. It says in Nalia's voice Think we should try and sneak a bit?.
Poppo and Nalia you guys are up.
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
That is just incredibly sad
Poppo jumps out of the way, Get it Turngut . He waits to see if anyone flanks with him, holding his blade at the ready.
Delay
Nalia Malphason
|
I'll five foot step down to flank with Poppo and then make a very mute and somewhat floppy attack.

just so i don't slow things up
Zombie will attack.
Beatrip will try to intimidate intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
IF I had a kid as ugly as you I would have locked her up and thrown away the key. What's a matter, did you gnaw your own tongue off so you didn't have to listen to yourself talk
The DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier.
Bobbie will cast guidance on Turngut for the +1.
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Come off delay after Nalia steps into flank
Poppo leaps to action. Arcane energy races down his arm and into his short sword, the blade glows as he jabs it toward the creepy creature.
short sword + flank + arcane pool: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 10
damage + sneak: 1d4 - 2 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) - 2 + 1 + (1) = 2
swift - Use point of arcane pool to give weapon +1 for 1 minute; std - attack
Back to the good rolls again.
| Benjen Harris |
Despite Nalia's fatigue she is still able to hit the creature. Poppo is thrown off by the fact that this thing is talking in Nalia's voice and misses his attack.
Jespar will five foot step and full round attack.
Main Hand Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Off Hand Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 171d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Jespar's main attack slashes the attic whisperer but he cant get in with the second stab.
So I did some research this morning on intimidating undead and this is what I found. "By a very strict reading of the rules, you would be correct. There is nothing in the rulebooks that specifically spells out that fear is a mind-affecting effect. However, the Pathfinder FAQ clears this up nicely:
Intimidate, in particular, is a mind-affecting fear effect, so fearless and mindless creatures are immune to all uses of Intimidate.
As undead creatures are immune to all mind-affect effects, undead creatures are also immune to all uses of Intimidate."
So I'm ruling that the intimidation will not have an effect on the creature.
Beatrip tries to intimidate the Attic Whisperer but it seems to have no affect on it. The zombie will attack.
Zombie Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 81d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
The zombie is just to clumsy and slow to hit the nimble undead.
Turngut you are up.
| Turngut |
Seeing that the creepy creature is badly damaged, Turngut now drops his long spear and steps up to the thing and whips a flurry of kicks, knees and elbows.
Brawler’s Flurry POWER ATTACK + guidance: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 = 21 Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Brawler’s Flurry POWER ATTACK: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Stop being scary!! He bellows as he hammers away at the little beast.
Planned server down today starting at 3P EST. Estimated down for 2-4h.
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Boom - nice Turngut!
Good! It's been super sluggish lately..hopefully it will speed back up.
| Benjen Harris |
Unfortunately despite Turngut's excellent attacks its still not enough to bring down the Attic Whisperer.
Peggy cant really do anything and will just cheer the party on.

But Turngut is able to dodge out of the way of its touch.
Everyone can go
| Turngut |
Turngut squeals as the disturbing child-creature reaches out for him. Ai-eee! And then swipes out at the creature again.
