I would stay up here. There are rats down. Nice knowing your Blue, hope you have redeemed yourself in Erodina's sight.
going to ready hand of the apprentice to send the shovel at the first rat that moves towards Blue
attack: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -11d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
| Benjen Harris |
You lower Blue into the room below, and the rats come charging.
We are going to go ahead and go into initiative
Nalia Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Bobie Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Ib Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Poppo Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Blue Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Rats Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Ill go ahead and let everyone take a surprise action as the rats come out. Bobie you miss with your hands of the apprentice attack.

I'll take a pot shot with the bow at the far one in SW corner as they start to charge towards Blue.
bow attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 81d6 ⇒ 5
| Benjen Harris |
The rats charge Blue but only one is able to get the attack this round.
Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d3 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
The rat (Yellow) bites into the leg of Blue nearly snapping the bone in two.
Everyone can go.
Blue will attempt to strike the rat that bit him with the pick.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 131d6 ⇒ 6
Blue narrowly misses the rats
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Surprise Round
Poppo jumps into the shadows.
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Delaying my round 1 to see what Ib does before Poppo leaps into action, potentially.

how many hit points does blue have left? and am I reading the rules right in that channeling negative energy will either heal undead or damage living in a 30ft rad. meaning i can heal the skeleton without injuring the entire party? that is a next round question. for this round i will use hand of the apprentice... again
attack: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -11d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
bobie
|
what are the chances of rolling back to back -1 to hit??? I need to grab a simple weapon so I use this without the freaking -4 improv penalty. then again a 3 really isn't any better
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
That's some good rolling Jon!
Yes, Jon that is how channel negative energy works.
Seeing no one else is jumping down to fight the rats, Poppo doesn't either, sticking to the shadows, he pulls out his club and chucks it at the furthest rat.
Ranged Club - range penalty v. red: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 2
Damage + sneak attack: 1d4 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) - 2 + (6) = 7
move to draw club; standard to chuck it.
Rat should get +4 AC due to cover, aka other peeps.
Almost as good of a roll as Jon!
| Benjen Harris |
Its pretty steep you don't think they would be able to. Still waiting on your turn Nalia.
Nalia Malphason
|
Sorry, thought I had shot my bow. Are we past the surprise round?
Nalia tosses aside the bow and draws her sword and yells I'm coming blue! and with that she jumps down onto the blue rat, hoping to smoosh it flat.
Let me know what roll that would be or if better I jump down with sword pointed down. Think I can do that, right?
| Benjen Harris |
Yup we are passed the surprise round. Go ahead and give me an acrobatics roll, and attack roll
Nalia Malphason
|
acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
I'm very worried as to what happened....
| Benjen Harris |
Nalia attempts to jump down and attack but slips on her jump and falls prone taking
Nonlethal Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Does make you disabled?
Ib narrowly misses with the bow, Bobie misses with his shovel, and Poppo misses with his club.

The rats are up again Blue and Yellow will attack Nalia the rest will attack Blue.
Blue Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d3 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2
Red Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d3 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
Yellow Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 151d3 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2
Cyan Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d3 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
Green Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 71d3 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
Possible crit for the Blue Rat
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d3 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
Not a crit but a hit. Nalia you take 2 damage and are unconscious, give me a fortitude to stabliize on your turn and an additional fotitude save to see if you sustain any permanent injury. Blue gets hit for 1 damage and is currently at 2HP
Everyone can go.
Blue will attempt to strike one of the rats (Cyan).
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d6 ⇒ 4
Blue misses again.
Nalia Malphason
|
fortitude: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
for permanent injury
fortitude: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
I could have been much more graceful; did I at least fall on a rat injuring it? Or I should be grateful I didn't cut my leg off...yet
| Benjen Harris |
You pass your saves we will say that before you went down you used your one attack to chop the blue rat, which would be the thing that knocked you unconscious so you would still be at -2 but the blue rat would be dead.
Nalia Malphason
|
I knew I could get one of those pesky rats, smooshed it flat....whoah, feeling sort of woozy!
So I'm stabilized, not permanently injured, but still unconscious? Sounds like I'm ready to be eaten alive by the rats.
bobie
|
I look in horror as the enormous viscous rats overwhelm Blue and Nalia. I could save one of them, but which one? Death or life there is no difference. If Nalia dies, I could raise her as a zombie. Blue has done good service, should he die while the other lives?
is there any chance these are undead rats? Did we check for any other undead? That 30 foot heal for undead could be problematic. Do I need physical contact to use cure light wounds?
bobie
|
I hurl myself over the abyss into the horde of vile nefarious slobbering rats. As I fall I reach out and grab Nalia and beg for Erondia's healing.
cure light wounds: 1d8 ⇒ 1
since i am not attacking and just falling 10 feet no acrobatics check and no damage? or am I wrong about that?

OMG!! 3 ROLLS AND A FREAKING 1 IS THE BEST THING I"VE ROLLED!!! I WANT TO THROW THIS DICE ROLL PROGRAM OUT THE FRACKING WINDOW!!!
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Seeing everyone falling around and dying, Poppo gives his lucky coin a rub then goes for it. Draws his sword and then takes a step back and then attempts to hurl himself over the drop off, over Blue, and over the rats! A running long jump.
Use a point of adaptive luck for a +2, 15 foot running long jump is DC15
Jump, might as well jump: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17 Yeah!
move to draw; standard to move/jump
Hello Rats! Poppo says in a rat like squeaky voice.
Very small creatures take up less than 1 square of space. This means that more than one such creature can fit into a single square. A Tiny creature typically occupies a space only 2-1/2 feet across, so four can fit into a single square. 25 Diminutive creatures or 100 Fine creatures can fit into a single square. Creatures that take up less than 1 square of space typically have a natural reach of 0 feet, meaning they can’t reach into adjacent squares. They must enter an opponent’s square to attack in melee. This provokes an attack of opportunity from the opponent. You can attack into your own square if you need to, so you can attack such creatures normally. Since they have no natural reach, they do not threaten the squares around them. You can move past them without provoking attacks of opportunity. They also can’t flank an enemy.
| Benjen Harris |
Yes so since these rats have to be in the same square as the people they are targeting. Blue will get an aoo on one of the rats as it enters Blue's square.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d6 ⇒ 1 Wow what is up with these rolls.
Also when Bobie heals Nalia, you would actually heal 2, one for the regular hit point and 1 for the nonlethal. When a spell or ability cures hit point damage, it also removes an equal amount of nonlethal damage. So Nalia you will be at 0 HP
| Benjen Harris |
Unfortunately as Bobie jumps down he also falls prone and takes some damage.
DC is unfortunately 15
Nonlethal Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Ib the Bruiser waiting on you
| Benjen Harris |
Wow these rolls are terrible!
Ib jumps down but slips on his way down. Ib stands up for his standard, but since the rats are tiny he doesn't get an AOO on him
Nonlethal Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

The rats are up. The Cyan rat will move into Poppo's square and attack. The Yellow rat will move into Bobie's square and attack. And the Red and Green rats will continue to attack Blue.
Cyan Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d3 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
Yellow Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d3 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
Red Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d3 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
Green Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d3 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
Possible critical on Poppo.
Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d3 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
Not a critical but Poppo does take 1 damage, the rest of the rats miss.
Everyone can go!
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Poppo jabs at the rat (cyan) with his sword, while flanking with Blue.
Short Sword + flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11 And the platinum hits continue
Damage + sneak attack: 1d4 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) - 2 + (2) = 2 If that did somehow hit then it's 3 dmg
Standard - attack; move and swift - shake fist at the dice roller, which has been extra naughty this year.

[ooc] Bobbie is going to stand up and 5 foot step. Don't think I can do anything else. provokes 1 attack of opportunity? [ooc]
| Benjen Harris |
Yes, Yellow Rat takes the aoo.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 81d3 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
Missed.
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Even the rats are rolling low, never seen anything like this as far as consistently bad rolls.

I am sure it's the GM's fault :) But is there a rule about death from old age in prolonged combat. It may just be pertinent here.
Nalia Malphason
|
Ok, Nalia is wobbly, barely able to stand. With her last bit of remaining energy she calls on the healing power of her god Malphas, praying for a an extra helping of blessing to bring her strength.
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
I use a healing blessing (swift action) to empower my healing spell to heal 50% more than it would have. Guess we have to calculate this manually.

The rat Cyan will attack Poppo. The two rats Green and Red will attack Blue. And the final rat Yellow will move into Nalia's square which will provoke an attack of opportunity.
Cyan Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 231d3 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
Green Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 171d3 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
Red Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d3 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
Yellow Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 201d3 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2
I have no idea whats going on with these rolls, i'm sorry.
The two rats attacking Blue, sadly bring the skeleton down. Nalia and Poppo you both take one damage.
Everyone can go.
Nalia Malphason

AOO attack on yellow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
If that attack brings down yellow I'll try for red for my regular attack.
attack on red: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
| Poppo Hedgehopper |
Poppo takes a step away from the offensive vermin and tries to give it another jab.
Short Sword + flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10
Damage + sneak attack: 1d4 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) - 2 + (6) = 8

I hope Blue was able to redeem himself. I struggle as the anger of his second death . I swing by shovel in anger.
attack: 1d20 - 4 + 3 ⇒ (6) - 4 + 3 = 51d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Cyan Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d3 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2
Green Rat Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d3 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
The rat attacking Poppo will hit dealing 1 damage if it doesn't get killed by the AOO.

Poppo jabs the rat when it goes to bite him.
Short Sword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
He pokes it and then steps back into a flank with Ib and pokes at it again.
Short Sword + flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11
Damage + sneak attack: 1d4 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) - 2 + (1) = 1
