Weird question: anyone here played any of the following games...
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth
Endless Space 2
Stellaris
And if so, which would you recommend? Playing this game with you guys has given me the itch to get my Space Opera on in a game that ISN'T Mass Effect or Warhammer 40K.

GM Coyote |

I've played Beyond Earth and Stellaris. In fact, Stellaris is one of my favorite games of all time. I'd say Endless Space is a bit more Space Opera-esque with what I've seen of it, but Stellaris is a solid strategy game with a lot of customizability, especially with the massive modding community it has.
Beyond Earth isn't as bad as people say it is, but it hasn't received updates in ages and is rather poorly optimized as a result.

Mira Yon |

Played stellaris and both endless spaces. Out of the three endless space one is my favorite, but i like the narrative for all the aliens for both 1 and 2

GM Coyote |

I haven't heard back from Quitch yet, but I PMed him yesterday and I know people aren't always as active on weekends. I think I'll give him till Monday before moving us forward, as long as that's alright with you all.

Mira Yon |

To be fair my intent was to annoy them until they just wanted to get rid of us. Just to wave us through not shoot us out of the sky. C'est la vie

Bonar "Bravo" Vizetelly |

Bravo sighs as he joins the others staring down the pathetic drow who tried to swindle them. His expression is deadpan.
"Can we talk to someone with actual authority? Like your manager? Or your mom?"
And on Apostae they're often one and the same! :P

Mira Yon |

Let me preface this by saying that Bravo's post was an excellent in character post.
But now the junk merchant who very likely cons his customers into buying junk knows that he has something extremely dangerous and therefore something extremely valuable. And that we're likely willing to pay through the nose to get it.
I was going to start the negotiations by low balling him but I couldn't do that unless I knew how much the Starfinder Society was willing to pay for it. I'm assuming they just didn't hand us a black card.

Bonar "Bravo" Vizetelly |

Bravo's hoping to impress on him just how dangerous holding on to this thing is to the point where he's willing to give it to us for free just to be rid of it.
I like money too, I'd just like to live long enough to enjoy it. ;)

Mira Yon |

I guess what I'm getting at is I was ready to take the lead on the negotiations two days ago. I was just waiting to hear from GM about my question before I did so. Even a simple you don't have that info from Coyote would have helped me make an informed post.

GM Coyote |

Ach, my bad, I forgot to reply to your post. Historia-7 didn’t mention a base price.

Hey! I found a cool picture that reminded me of Stacy!

Nice

Mira Yon |

Just an fyi going on a real big girl vacation in a week. So while I will very likely have extra time to play while on vacation the week lead up (now) I will be quite busy getting ready. I'll check in when I can but please bot me if you need a response from me and its been over 24 hours

GM Coyote |

Hey all, I'll be travelling today and part of tomorrow, so I'll have an update then. Sorry for the delay.

Krizen Longfur |

Also, I am traveling for work this week with a busier schedule than I thought I would have. I'll have limited ability to post until Saturday. Feel free to bot me in as needed.

Mira Yon |

Hey everyone dropping in to say that I'm going to drop out of this game. Nothing anyone did I just realized that I much prefer running play by posts than pjaying in them. That's weird for me to say since I'm the opposite way IRL. Anyway I'm starting a new game and I need to cut something so I have the bandwidth for that. So I'm dropping this game and a couple others I'm playing in. Have fun without me.

GM Coyote |

Well, I’m sorry to see you go but I can understand the reasoning. Best wishes.

Bonar "Bravo" Vizetelly |

Just so you all know, my posting may slow a little going into May: I'm struggling to keep up with my posting between work and getting ready for my best friend's wedding (I'm a groomsman!).

GM Coyote |

Alright, no problem.

Krizen Longfur |

I've been hopeful it's a temporary slump from the school semester/trimester/quarter/whatever ending... I know a number of folks on the boards are either students or teachers and currently dealing with a huge workload.

GM Coyote |

I just messaged someone who can come on fairly soon. I might like to bring on one other person as well. If any of you have some ideas for people you might, I'd be happy to hear them. If not, I can also reopen the recruitment thread. I'm probably looking to bring on 1 or 2 more, just to make sure we have a full house in case of any more drop-offs.

GM Coyote |

I’ve gotten in touch with someone about joining, and I have one or two more in mind. That said, I’d still be open to you guys inviting people you’d especially want to play with.
If you guys want to me to push the story forward, let me know.

Krizen Longfur |

This is one of the first games I've played in for PbP on these boards... I'm afraid I do not know anyone, and my RL gaming group doesn't like anything crunchier than 5E. I'm good with bringing more people on though, and moving at whatever pace works. Pretty much, I am happy to have a chance to play no matter what speed it is at! I live in the middle of nowhere and was surprised to be able to find even a 5E group.

GM Coyote |

I’ve just heard from someone wanting to join, and I’m waiting on one more. We should be able to pick back up fairly soon.
Thanks for sticking with me. I know I, at least, have been having a lot of fun with this game, and I’m excited to pick up some momentum again.

GM Coyote |

I’ve found two people who’re interested and making characters. One is making a mystic, the other a technomancer.

Elisys Lyre |

Hey everyone!
Nice to meet you all. I was invited by Simeon to join the campaign from another one (pathfinder). I'd hoped to finish my character a lot quicker but real life got in the way for a while, so apologies for the wait.
I should mention like I did to Simeon that I barely have any experience in starfinder both mechanically and with the setting, but I do have some experience as a writer and will do my best to make it work.
I'll be reading up things hopefully today or tomorrow and then get to posting.
Kind regards.

Krizen Longfur |

Welcome to the party! So far it’s been a blast, or several, from what we can still remember after those spiked drinks...
Don’t worry about being unfamiliar with the rule set - everyone will help if you want to do something by the rules. :)

Bonar "Bravo" Vizetelly |

Welcome! Thanks for taking a chance on us!
Incidentally, I notice your statbar says you're 2nd level. Are you using a previously-used alias, or is Coyote being generous and letting Krizen and me level up? ;)

Elisys Lyre |

I was told we were level 2 and that we had 1000 credits to spend on wealth. Unless i am very mistaken, of course. We had a lot of pm's and i'd have to check them back home. I did run the character by him including stats and levels.
Honestly though I don't mind either way. I'm fine with level 1 though I'd have to rework the character a bit.

GM Coyote |

You two will level fairly soon, figured I'd introduce the new PC at level 2 instead of level 1.

GM Coyote |

Fairly soon, don't know an exact timetable though.

Hey guys, I asked to join and then had to go dark for a few weeks due to work issues.
Here is a SFS character that I will run in the game, since you guys are playing as SF agents I think this fits well.
I don't mind changing things about Nalun if you guys need a certain focus, but overall he's going to focus on getting close and swinging his blade in combat. Out of combat he will be a face/diplomatically focused character. He has the priest theme since he is a Disciple of the Cycle.
