Zairiah won't just leave it in the crypt. She'll need some kind of a trade. The question is, what kind of trade will the storyline allow.
... If the genies really want the sword out of commission, they should be willing to give us not only monetary value, but at *least* also match it in power. Since they are wish-granters, that doesn't seem like too much to ask, and if it is indeed such a blight to them, I would guess they would be theoretically willing to grant us much more.
However, as a player I don't know what is reasonable in terms of the parameters of the game... if we are going to deal, Zairiah will shoot for the moon, seeing that they have an object that all of geniekind wants to be able to control... but totally open to whatever limitations that the DM will impose upon what we can get. I mean, I also assume that the genies could cut down everyone else *except* whoever is holding the sword and probably trick that person to death as well, if they wanted to, so really, as always, we're floating on the winds of fate. :)

I'm back. My life has been turned upside-down. We were renovating the house and found extensive (very extensive) termite damage. We're into six walls and the support beam for the roof and they just keep finding more. On top of that, this last week I had been dealing with a convention that I work on staff for. I tried to get in a week ago to explain, but the site had me locked out and with the convention, it has taken until today when I had time to fix it. However, the convention is over and I'll be catching up over the next few days, but then I should be back to regular posting.

Apologies for the lack of posting - I started with the symptoms on Wednesday, and have been fighting off Covid for the past few days. I will try to post as soon as I am feeling better, since I am not doing much more beyond lying in bed resting anyway…

Any luck finding that list Aggrammar? I have no idea what we have other than the stuff I have been keeping track of on my profile, and it would be nice to know what magical items we just had identified. :)
I can also help comb through if needed, but might take till next weekend for me to have the time.

Ok, I found THIS post - the bracers are identified and Aggy has them, so we have the lamellar armor and some other stuff (guess for those we will need to go through Gameplay).
Zairiah |
It was already stated in gameplay that the padisha identified 4 things for us, so if we can find four, I think we're all good. No more role play needed.
Zairiah |
Oh, yeah. Good point. Can't do it right at this moment, but I can crawl through next weekend probably. Have a couple of big deadlines on the 1st, but then will have some time to tackle a time-consuming project. :)

Hit Points for level 5: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Nura is leveled up. Saves went up by 2 each, THAC0 down by 1, and added 5 hp.

Okay, how about the armor, the scimitar, the philter, and the short sword... and since Fadilah can send her gen for an identify spell anytime, let's just do that now for the rest, and catch up to having everything identified. Does that work?
Also, we could just set up a water company in the desert... we have the sword that creates an oasis, and a portable spring, so we could be rich just doing that, if we are looking for long-term career choices. :)

Two weapons feels like overkill to me - I would throw the ring in that mix, since they usually can be used by anyone. So I would choose armor, buckler, ring and philter :P
Agrammar you could level your character up to 4/4
Will be pressed because of work the next two days, but will do so after ;)
Nura Hamdani |
I vote for the ring also, as well as the armor and the philter, but rather than the buckler, I think that we should ID one of the weapons.
Zairiah |
Is the ring the same one that we already know (from the accidental description "ruby ring of protection"), or a different one?
Either way, I was proposing (with Fadilah's help) that we get everything identified now.
GMEDWIN |
I did write ring of protection but I did not write how well it protects.
Consensus is Ring, Armor, Philter, and one weapon: SS, J, Scimitar 1d3 ⇒ 3
The ring is a ring of protection +2
Armor is Elven Lamellar +1
Philter of Glibness
Scimitar +1
If Fadilah wants to cast Identify, she needs to do her rolls, doing identify does put her at a significant disadvantage for a day of adventuring. Now, I have already advanced it one day so from a metagaming perspective, she would be safe.
Zairiah |
Okay... so, was anyone using these things already? If not, who wants them?
Philter of glibness seems to be a potion that lets you lie... immune to at least some forms of magical detection.
Elven Lamellar is a heavy armor similar to scale
ring and sword are obvious... maybe the rest are to you guys as well, but I had to look them up, so thought I would share.
Buckler was identified (though not sure how definitely) as "at least" +1 in gameplay as well, if anyone uses shields?
Nura Hamdani |
Nura has a magical item (the intelligent scimitar), so she will pass for now.

Hi everyone, unfortunately I have bad news - I will be leaving the game. I was so much looking forward with playing with GMEDWIN, but I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the ruleset, which in turn makes me falter every time I have to level up, which delays the whole game, so on and so forth.
I would love to play through all the Al-Qadim adventures and setting with all of you, but sadly I must admit AD&D2e is not working for me... So I will step away and make room for others looking for this experience. And I sincerely apologize for leaving you hanging.

Hate to see you go, Edeldhur. It was nice playing with you.

hp Fighter: 10 = 10
hp Cleric: 8 = 8
Lucky! :O
HP +9
THAC0 improved by 1 = 17
Gained +1 lvl2 spell from Priest (now 3/2)
Gained 0 Weapon Proficiencies (I have a total of 3 unspent now I believe... Any suggestions?)
Gained 1 Nonweapon Proficiency (am thinking what would make sense for Aggrammar - time to take something dwarf related... Underground orientation or something of the kind?)
My AC is actually much better that what I have in my alias (will correct it as soon as possible) - because now I have Bracers for AC3 + Buckler +1 = AC1? (if I can have the buckler of course).
Right?
And I think this is it - will update profile when I get a chance.

Okay, this is what I have in my notes about our current goal:
Hanoushin smiles warmly at Zairiah and says, "Recently, a clay tablet bearing the seal of Al-Anwahr was uncovered by nomads and sold for a princely sum in Muluk to me. Due to the information garnered from the tablet, I sent a large expedition to excavate the site and search for the scroll called "The Eleven Baneful Gates." No news had been heard from them for months, and soon my divinations revealed that they were
all slain at the ruins. I would like your group to travel to Al-Anwahr see what happened to the first expedition and also bring back any historical research and artifacts from the site. As you probably know, Al-Anwahr was the original capitol of Muluk and where the Calipha's, may she reign for One thousand and one years!, family originated. The information there could shed light upon many a historical occurrence and bring much glory to Zann! The scroll is extremely important but any other artifacts are also beneficial."
Also, Hanzala is the other bad guy that was working with Yodfah and she is a member of the brotherhood of the true flame which is around here somewhere... hopefully we already passed it, but just in case we run into her again.
Quests elsewhere:
--We have two waterskins full of healing water and we know that there is a ruler that needs one of them, but don't remember where that is.
--Take Glass Man (Qasim) back to Muluk.
--Uh, is Siti (Yodfah lookalike) still with us? Just noticed that we were talking and then just moved on. If he is, then we need to take him to find Yodfah as well (maybe... that could be interesting, but could also get us killed).
Do we still have any other NPCs with us? What happened to that guy that was with us when we got the healing water?
Anyone else remember any other quests/goals/potential leads that I am not recalling?

NPCs with the party.
1) Rashid = He is honor bound to the party for originally a year and one day, lets say about four months in. He is in Muluk minding your ship.
2) Silverthroat= He is the water guy. He is with the party's caravan. The Grand Caliph in Huzuz is where the water should go. Or you could sell it.
3) Mahara is the old mystic you saved from the Dao. He is accompanying you until the heat has cooled down from the Dao.
4) Siti is with you. He would like to meet his doppelganger, whom you would probably want to kill.
5) Qasim yup.
I have been consistently moving the party along on the map in the campaign info window. You are about two to three days from Al-Anwahr depending on the Sea of Salt.
Zairiah |
Thanks. :) I'll copy this to my notes so I don't keep forgetting.
Zairiah |
Do we have a loot list somewhere so we can sell some stuff and go shopping?
This was the recent magic stuff that we talked about:
The ring is a ring of protection +2
Armor is Elven Lamellar +1
Philter of Glibness
Scimitar +1
Also unidentified but magical
jambiya
buckler
short sword
... I don't think anyone claimed any of that yet, so if no one objects, I am going to take the Scimitar +1, just to have that option.
I don't know about any other loot except the side story stuff from trading... the two waterskins full of healing water that I paid 100 gold for, and the orchids and dyes that I am trying to start a trading empire with.
Anyone have more stuff or a better list?
Nura Hamdani |
Nura has the intelligent scimitar and you have naught. Go ahead and take the ring. And we may be able to use that potion of glibness here in the marketplace.
Zairiah |
err... bizarre and interesting magical items that may or may not come in handy? pathfinder has traveler's translator... earring of translation basically. Or an ioun torch... floating light. Anyone with minor magical trinkets around that level (affordable at our level)?
Zairiah |
I have about 400 gold on my sheet. The last money I show us getting was 8/18/21. But the DM says we have gold and jewelry and stuff to trade. I don't know if there is a list anywhere. Above is what I know about.
With 400 gold that I know about though, figured I could look for trinkets.

Ok, well you received money to fund your caravan, definitely found money in the caves when you liberated Mahara and the town of Tarv/Talv gave you a reward. You do have two Ioun stones. You do have 12 golden discs or whatever they were from the tomb. You do have a collection of gems, jewelry and stuff.
Zairiah |
Hmm. The false god right in front of us? This should be interesting.
