Don't forget about the Peacock Shrine on the altar! This shrine gives every enemy in the temple and dungeons beneath it fast healing 10. You might want to disable it, but doing so will definitely alert the priests here so it's up to you.

Awesome. Now, because of a new ability Theo got with this level of Dragon Disciple, I need to ask because I can't remember and it'll affect what new 6th level spell I grab here.

While under the effects of form of the dragon I, can you still cast spells? Considering combining it with transformation to finally get into some proper melee combat with a prestige class that was meant to be a switch-hitter (spells at range, claws in melee).

I would like to do something that will require retraining. Not sure if we're at a point where we can do that, or if we still have more of this dungeon to do.

I want to take the Advanced Weapon Training feat a second time (which is allowed at Fighter level 9), and take the Weapon Specialist feature, then use that to get Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization with the entire heavy blades group. This then frees up my earlier purchases of those feats, which I want to convert over to Inspiring Bravery and Armor Focus (Full Plate).

Basically I get to turn my one 11th-level feat into two feats, but it means retraining those feats.


You can just go ahead and make those changes, Rudrik. No worries.

In that case, everyone gets a +2 on saves vs. mind-affecting effects while within 30' of Rudrik now!


Cool! Nime already gets a +1 on saves when she's near Rudrik, so she'll be sticking even closer to him.

Ok, here's the breakdown.

Fighter 9
+9 hit points
+1 BAB, Ref saves, Will saves
Skills: +1 each of: Acrobatics, Disable Device, Perception, Stealth; Appraise, Handle Animal

Class feature improvement: Advanced weapon training: Instead of taking a new weapon group, took the advanced weapon training option Weapon Specialist, which grants me a number of feats equal to my weapon training (+2). Chose Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialization, which now apply to the whole Heavy Blades group. This also raises my Heavy Blades bonuses to +2.

This frees up my 4th & 6th level bonus fighter combat feats, so those become Inspiring Bravery (my bravery bonuses now extend to allies within 30'), and Advanced Armor Training: Armored Juggernaut, which gives me DR 2/- in heavy armor and explicitly stacks with adamantine armor (total now DR 5/-).

Then for my 13th level feat I take Advanced Armor Training again: Armor Specialization, for another +2 to AC that improves as I gain more fighter levels.

AC 34, DR 5/-, but I still can't make saves vs. petrification.

A good tank doesn't die repeatedly. Obviously I need better mitigation and saves. I should be pushing AC 40 right now to keep up with the creatures we're fighting.

DR is better than AC long run. It's impossible to keep AC high enough to beat attacks at higher levels.

Hey sorry I disappeared for ANOTHER five months; serious construction began on my street a few days after Christmas and disrupted my internet connection until about three days ago. Thank y'all for doing a dedication to Sara at the end of WftC, I read it earlier and was very touched.

idk if I'll quite be able to return to regular play (like I could do one or two games but when I left I was in something like eight or ten games which I definitely couldn't handle rn) but if y'all haven't written Calendula off and would have me back I'd like to keep playing her. I love the character and more importantly, I love playing with the five of y'all.


You're welcome to return here if you're still interested, Calendula. We had your character temporarily leave on a holy quest from Iomedae. It's possible that you were captured and the others can find you here in the prison they are in in short order. You'll need to level your character up to 13. Go ahead and take the difference in WBL between 13 and 8 to spend on additional gear. And welcome back. We missed you at the end of WftC. :)

I'm slowly leveling Calendula back up, but Brainiac, please refresh my memory, how do you feel about combining unique items? She has Inheritor's Light and the Bracers of the Merciful Knight already, I was hoping to combine them respectively with the Crusader's Longsword and the Bracers of the Avenging Knight by paying 50750 (the cost of the crusader's longsword + half the cost of Inheritor's Light) and 17250 (1.5x the cost of the Bracers of the Avenging Knight)


You can combine them for 1.5x cost.

So this auto-sheet I've been using? I just realised I've left Shield turned on for ages.

I'll have Theo actually cast it right before we go into the next room. Really wish that thing had a longer duration or something. Or that Mage Armour wasn't completely eclipsed by bracers of armour.
