Sigias: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Ylania: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Sigias, Abram and Carina are too busy trying to get the bear out of the pit, but everyone else seems to notice the wall on the other side of the second pit has a strange gash in it. Too straight to be found in a natural cavern and there is an animated sheen of foul brown-orange slime dripping from something silvery inside the gash.

![]() |

"That does not seem like it belongs there." Agalych says, pointing towards the crack in the wall with the strange silver thing in it.
With no warning, his legs suddenly extend, and he leaps across the nearer pit with barely any effort at all, to get a closer look.
Take a 10, can automatically jump up to 20'
He pauses a moment to look watch Abram's progress out of the pit, before adding, "This one wonders if these are the last of them."

With a flicker of light Gaius vanishes and reappears on the other side of the pit.
Using shift to teleport across the pit
Very curious he says as he mutters a simple spell to detect magic.
I wonder what the orange stuff is?

I was assuming Ylania didn't cross the (now) open pit to look at the bones farther into the room. Sorry for not making that clear, but I will address the rolls when the time is right (see below). Also apologies to Carina for misreading the alpha list, but... since you made the save PHEW :)
He gains a climb speed as bear
What is the climb speed? It matters now as...

More than one source mentions a sheen of foul brown-orange sludge that seems to wield a killing blade.

![]() |

Certainly wasn't jumping directly in front of it.
Agalych lands beside Carini, then looks back towards Gaius as the later calls his warning. The little grippli frowns, though stays to protect the fortune teller, if it is indeed as dangerous as Gaius seems to be implying.

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

Gaius recalls sitting in dungeoneering class, black slate at the front filled with random blobs of color and no real form. He recalls the strange shapechanger subtype order. This one is known as a deathtrap ooze and has acid, constrict; immune acid, ooze traits; blindsense. Mostly it is known for mimicking traps.
Kn (dungeoneering) from others might reveal more.
Agalych quickly responds to Gaius warning and lands next to Carina instead of getting closer to the scythe blade hidden in the wall.
Both Agalych and Gaius said they jumped/shifted forward after hearing the description of the trap (which is actually a creature). Now that I have that clarified, (map updated with some adjustments of PCs for safety reasons) neither stepped into its range. The creature will continue to wait for the 'trap' to be sprung (like a trap does) so the surprise round will not happen. The question is do you wait for Abram to climb out of the pit and be healed before initiating combat? Or do you avoid taking the highly injured pathfinder into harm's way and remove the threat before then? Unless you want to avoid the combat, you can roll your attacks either way. Abram I may need you to calculate your return/recovery in time.

"Well can't stand around all night looking at wall snot." His uncorks an alkali flask and waves a Mage Hand over to the other side then drops it into the ooze, waiting to see any effects.

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

The flask will basically initiate combat. Since there is some climbing & healing involved everyone has time to take the action of their choice. Everyone, please make your first round action, then spoiler round 2 action. Since the ooze goes last & it is only one attack I can narrate both rounds at once. Thank you. :)

Round 1

I think so Ylania, or rather you know what won't hurt it. Ooze traits are long so I linked them rather than listing them individually.

Carina curses a little as she scrambles away from the ooze, knowing enough that she wants to be away from it. Likewise, some cursing is due to her preparations not taking oozes into account.
Move
Finally, in frustration, she pulls the top scarf around her waist off and launches a pair of fiery beams at the pest with it.
Standard action - Use my bonded item to cast Scorching Ray at the Ooze

In a coordinated effort the Pathfinders deal with a creature few people will ever see but everyone knows. Haunting fireside stories and cheap novels for ages, the iconic blob creature steps into reality-and maybe your nightmares.
The creature sizzles as Sigias breaks a jar filled with white powder on the deathtrap. Sucking the moisture from the ooze's acidic skins the powder starts frothing and smoking.
Four chunks of the stone floor rise up and approach the ooze as Gais completes his chanting. They tear into the ooze with the ease and vigor.
A metallic blade with orange paste scythes from a slot in the wall cutting one of the elementals.

How much damage did alkali do?
Sigias calmly pulls out a wand, almost gingerly taking his time, clears his throat, ::ahem::, dramatically points it at the ooze, then incants "Sh'yl M'sshakul!"
[dice=MMissiles]1d4+1
Sigias, I rolled 2d6 for you for 3 pts.
Gaius, your elementals acted both rounds, but you didn't for either round.Gaius, AW MAaan! When am I ever going to roll a x4 crit again? :) (but two hits should remove one of the elementals.)

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

As he watches the elementals take on the ooze, Agarych suddenly feels something tugging at him. The air around him, the earth above him or something else seems to be pushing him into the floor. And then some dark energy pulls at the grippli's heart. The grippli shouts in alarm.
Agalych, please make a will save.
The small rock-creatures continue smashing the fake trap while fire and magic does it in. Without any kind of will behind it the scythe trap slides off the wall into a grey shapeless blob.
Aye I missed the magic missiles this round. They are enough to drop the the trap-mimic.
Under the body a vial that detects as magic is found. Abram also found a strange box at the bottom of the second pit which detects as magic. The potion is haste and the box holds a deck of illusions.

Uh oh!
Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Agalych suddenly feels a dark energy descending on him, and lets out a panicked chirruping sound, as he looks around trying to determine the cause!
Agalych jumped there in round 2 (1st round he drew and used the wand)
Feeling the floor itself trying to suck him, and his life force, down into itself. Almost instinctively, his legs push off, and he leaps away from the location, but not unscathed!
Dunno where he'd instinctively jump, probably to the last spot he thought was safe.
"This one thinks there are far more dangers in this place than we know." He murmurs weakly.

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

Dunno where he'd instinctively jump, probably to the last spot he thought was safe.
Hint:Many of the bones are animals typical for an underground setting: badgers, bears, trolls. Many more are creatures from the darklands: a cave giant, spiders the size of cats. Still others are humanoid or creatures unrecognizable. Some are recent, with tiny bits of flesh or dried skin still stuck to parts. Most are long dead, decaying past the point where only a single broken jawbone or cracked rib remain. The strangest thing about them is their pattern. It is not natural for so many creatures to drop in a single place when the rest of the floor is clear. In fact it almost looks as if all the bones have been swept to the cliff's edge.
I guess I should have asked, where next?

![]() |

Gaius bids his elemental servants a good trip home and gives them a simple bow. Well, that turned out to be quite effective.
As Agalych leaps back he raises an eyebrow, Is there a problem? he asks.
Looking ahead he suggests, I think perhaps we should explore the rest of this cavern, it seems to go on for quite some distance.
Before they set off he reactivates his wands of shield and heightened awareness.

![]() |

@GM: I'm a little confused by the map. Agree with Agy, the original art is weird. Are the colored squares exactly the size and location of the pits/traps? If it only 10' and requires a simple jump check, Sigias will just leap across, otherwise lmk. running jump 10': 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Venture Teller Play b'Post |

I will make an update to the map when I get to a computer. Trying to clarify things in text: The colored squares are two pit traps and one fake scythe trap (dead now). There are steps under the ooze square. If you follow that around you stay in the same room. That long dark area the stairs go around is the cliff splitting this room in half.
