Hi all, well I am finally going to give GMing a PbP a go. I have experience GMing in real life, so hopefully it won't be too much harder, but please just bear with me if I don't get it perfect to start with.
The requirements will be:
> 20 point buy system (Stats can be as low or high as possible)
> Core Rulebook and APG allowed (Ultimate Magic and Combat may be allowed on request)
> Core Races (Others may be allowed on request)
> Evil characters allowed (on request and with good story and motives. There is a church of Asmodeus after all.)
> 2 Traits (One of which must be a Campaign Trait)
> Maximum Starting Gold for Class
> Achievement Feats (from Legacy of Fire) allowed
> Able to post daily
> Character backgrounds preferable (the more detail the better).
I will be selecting between 5-6 players for this campaign.
Chaotic Evil characters will have a harder time convincing me to allow them, but could still succeed.
All Gnolls Must Die (Achievement Feat) Will be changed for a more suitable enemy.
Characters can have history with each other if desired and written into their backgrounds.
The closing date for this campaign recruitment will be October 28th, but may end sooner if lots of applicants.

I want to put myself forward for this. I will make a Halfling Rogue, focusing in Dual wielding daggers. I was wondering if I could use the Knife Master from the Ultimate Combat book. As I am a small character, the daggers deal less damage, so the extra sneak damage would be good.
I will get a story and character made up soon.

Solin Outlander |

Aho thar Samson, if you will have me, I shall gladly join whichever motley band forms up to tackle this throne, that at a glance would appear to be Crimson, and that I have a suspicion happens to be cursed.
If you will have me, I have a choice of characters to pick from, but I'm thinking of Caim the Magus, if you'll allow Ultimate Combat for me use.
Or, if not Caim, I can instead opt to either create a half-elf Paladin known as Hablion, or I can create my namesake if you'll allow a Lizardfolk player, which I have a feeling will be a no, but I figure if I put it out there, at least there is always a chance. I already have the three in my head, just awaiting your word.
Tell me which you'll allow, and then I'll talk to you about backstory

Amgir |

Solin Outlander |

Because of his ego and sarcastic attitude, he has always been something of a lone wolf, his spells have never been buffing or team supporting, though if his team-mates manage to get him to trust them and get him to loosen up, he might be inclined to learn spells that can give aid to them beyond roasting an enemy. Thus, Magus is the class of choice.

Amgir |

Amgir |

The "All Gnolls Must Die" Achievement Trait, will be removed, sorry. Otherwise it would be changed to Humans. As they are the most common foe. But if you players willing to play are happy with this then I shall allow it.
The "Healers Touch" Achievement Trait will stay the same, except that Channel Positive Damage to heal allies will also count towards the total of hit points cured.
If you do decide that you want to work towards an Achievement feat, make sure to keep a track of your progress.

The only witness was intimidated into damning me during his testimony, by one Gaedren Lamm. A result was that I was forced from the Acadamae. Now I'm after him, hoping for evidence that would clear my name, even if I have now lost all interest in attending the Acadamae ever again.

Shanosuke |

Agmir hows it going? Good to see you. Sad you didn't join back up with the new everflame game. Just as well, Fealix is causing trouble as usual. Would be cool if I could submit him into this campaign, I think he might fit in nicely with his views on corruption.....well he has two views actually Hehe. I will see what I can scratch up. I would like to try and put forth Fealix here as the Everflame wont take him as far as I'd like him to go (Only level 7 at max). I would readjust his stats to fit. What are your thoughts? You know Fealix personally, do you think he'd fit in?

Here is a character I truly wish to play (mostly cruch wise - I wish to see how high I can get the damage modifier) But also he has that young urchin turned hero by chance feel.
The background can be tweaked to fall into this campaign and I think the stats are off, but changeable.
Valius sits wet and cold just inside the entrance and huddles with his arms wrapped around him to keep warm. The storm was quick and caught him unawares as he hunted in the hills west of Falcon's Hollow. And now he was cold and hungry his sling lay at his feet where he threw it down in disgust.
The "cave" was really some sort of mine or cairn that was never truly finished. The entrance was an odd square shaped opening with swirling patterns cut into the stone. Those patterns continued on the smooth walls just inside but the cave only went about ten feet deep before it stopped in a rough wall. Apparently unfinished by whoever set out to carve it.
And there was nothing inside to eat or burn to try and get warm, so Valius sat in misery thinking how did his life come to this...
...he came back from the River Foam to find his mother crying, and soon he was crying with her. His father was found dead behind Venelle's shop in Falcon's Hollow. Two days later Valius woke to find his mother gone and from then his life would never be the same.
Valius remembers very little of the months after that day, they were so chaotic and he only remembers crying every night before falling asleep hungry, and hiding in the forest and hills from Pharasmaian nuns and searching lumberjacks during the day.
Finally both nun and lumberjack gave up the searching and Valius was allowed to live in the forest in peace. When he felt lonely or hunting was particular poor he would find a lumberjack camp to spend a few days at running chores for a meal or a copper. He was nicked named "Twig" for his long thin limbs and thin bony frame.
Always wanting to fend for himself Valius would go hunting along the hills and the edges of Darkmoon Wood. He became adapt at stalking and developed a natural agility through practice with his sling. But today there was little food to be found and the rain coming in didn't help.
*sniff* *sniff*
Valius snuffled as his nose started to run and caught the whiff of something repugnant. He looked around and saw only flat walls and small stones on the floor... wait. Moving towards the wall he noticed a dark coloration on the floor. As he approached the smell grew worse and could only be a dead carcass, but all that he saw was the spot on the floor near the wall, that might be dried blood, but where was the body?
Valius looked around and noticed a small hole about waist high. He plucked a finger at the hole and found it to be some sort of switch, and suddenly the wall in front of him shot up into the ceiling.
Jumping back in fright Valius watched as the body of a man, dead probably a week, fell at his feet. Ready to run out into the storm Valius stopped short when the crossbow on the man's back caught his eye.
Two days later...
Valius stood behind Venelle's shop all of the dead man's gear in a sack at his feet and the handsomely crafted darkwood crossbow in his hands. He looked down at the spot where the body of his father was found, tears welling in his eyes.
"I'm getting away from here. Once I sell all this I'm taking the money and heading to Claes or someplace better..." he started to say a little choked up.
"And then what? Go from being an urchin here for being one there?" a female voice said from behind him.
Valius turned to see the half-elf Venelle standing watching him, her arms crossed before her. "There's some old odd saying about. Having a copper today only feeds you today. But learn to feed yourself and never need a copper again."
She eyes the weapon in Valius's hands approvingly. "I can teach you to use that and you would never need worry about going hungry again."
Valius wiped at his eyes. "I would like that." And for the next five years Valius never went hungry again. But Falcon's Hollow was always a sore spot with the young man. The painful memories of losing his parents and the years after spent alone made him wish to leave everyday. He never had enough money to buy a horse or book passage and then one day he had an idea...
... If another cairn in the hills held spoils like the one he discovered when he was younger maybe he could find a treasure big enough to pay for his leaving Falcon's Hollow behind.
For the past six months Valius has been wandering the hills east of the town searching empty cairn sites and abandoned mine buildings. He is even thinking of heading to Droskar's Crucible if he doesn't find what he's looking for soon.

Braggal was a young and ambitious merchant when he arrived from Janderhoof with his two uncles. They came with a cartload of top quality tools. Braggal had a talent for the business, he learned the language and customs of the Korvosans quickly - and he had a talent for sales. Business was brisk the earnings were solid.
But Braggal's uncles had doubts about the lad. They thought him too unorthodox and unclannish. His fascination with Korvosan culture was too liberal for their liking. Braggal himself was still young and naive ....he was too high on himself - too self-assured for his own good. His thought his old uncles were miserly curmudgeons. He resented the slim margins they alotted to him from the profits. He thought they were fleecing him.
Impatient and hungry for wealth, he looked to the streets of the city for other business opportunities. He befriended a young lad named Hank..a clever kid who knew the streets and had a talent for finding opportunities. Soon Braggal was hanging out with the kid, frequenting sordid establishments and doing business in questionable circles. The two uncles became increasingly displeased with their wayward young nephew, but their admonishments only estranged him more. As far as he was concerned - they did't give a damn about him - they only cared what a scandal might do for their profits. One afternoon - in a fit of pique he told them to take their metalwares and shove them up their tight arses. Then he stormed off to start his own business.
Cut loose from the brand of his clan, Braggal's business ventures quickly took a turn for the worse. In fact they spiralled right down the toilet from the moment he started. The story is long and unpleasant to relate. In short - he fell ingnominiously from the high life right down to skid row. It was around this time when Braggal and his friend Hank fell in with Gaedren Lamm - and got hooked on the Shiver...
Their lives became lost in a desperate haze - they survived as thieves and junkies - living on the streets. They became little more than slaves to the despicable pusher Lamm. Hank eventually wasted away into death, but Braggal was made of sterner stuff than the kid. A vestige of his pride still remained. When Hank died the despair and and shock roused Braggal back to his senses.
Cold anger has taken over as the obsession of the moment.
Braggal has his hands on a good, dwarven axe. It is sharp and ready for Gaedren's skinny little throat!

I didn't rejoin as I didn't only want to go to level 7, but mainly because I didn't want the campaign to just suddenly stop again. So I thought I would run one instead!
Recruitment is open until October 28th. Means plenty of time for little tweaks and any questions you may have for me.

Caim Sevíré |

Ah, something else I need to tinker with. Caim uses it with one hand, thus the exotic proficiency. To quote the book here:
At 1st level, a magus learns to cast spells and wield his weapons at the same time. This functions much like two-weapon fighting, but the off-hand weapon is a spell that is being cast. To use this ability, the magus must have one hand free (even if the spell being cast does not have somatic components), while wielding a light or one-handed melee weapon in the other hand. As a full-round action, he can make all of his attacks with his melee weapon at a –2 penalty and can also cast any spell from the magus spell list with a casting time of 1 standard action.
So my off-hand is used for flinging spells around.

Iolana |

This is a varisian bard I made up for the campaign. I think I made her stats rather... silly, so I'll take a look at her again. And her actual history should be buried somewhere in the history of her posts, to be added to the profile.
Edit
Darn, the two page history I had for her wasn't in her posts, might be in mine somewhere, though...
Whelp, I know what I'm doing this morning. :P

Amgir |

Wow, there are a lot of fine characters here.
Ah, one other thing. If you are accepted (which is already getting hard to decide who will be in) as long as you tell me, you can change you character around slightly up until you reach level 2. I know that it is hard to get the character you desire straight off the bat and I feel this way you still get to try them out in actual game play.

Shanosuke |

these are some details you should know about Fealix that you haven't seen unless you've read his profile.
All these abuses in his life caused him to see a demon world and hear a voice that would constantly possess his mind and encourage him to do evil things. Fealix would dream and see the other realm beyond where the voices dwelt, filled with chaos and evil, demons frolicked about singing wicked hymns. Despite all this, Fealix was at peace. This is the world he in which he lived in his dreams. These demons were like family to him. They are honest with their intensions to him. This was his sactuaray and he would retreat to this state of mind often to drown out the misery he suffered in reality.
Fealix would commit various evil acts on behalf of the voice that possessed him. The main problem was that Fealix did these things willingly most of the time. Fealix was aware that his actions needed to be kept covert. Since he couldn't attack Lamm directly, he would act against bad people no one liked and blame crimes on obvious suspects. He became really good at talking to people and convincing them that he was some sort of saint. Fealix’s tendencies were widely unknown thanks to his own clever wit and charm. Fealix had few emotions, but his two most dominating emotions were love and hate. Fealix hated most people but was oddly in love with life an purity. His life was an oxymoron, a paradox, and great controversy. He loved honesty even though he himself was dishonest. Fealix put on a facade about being a good person. He also made a habit of engaging in sexual behavior at a young age. The voice in his head drove his hormones and his charms and ability to lie made relief easy to acquire. Lying, Murder, and Adultery were all crimes he was guilty of. He was not completely offended by do gooders. He believes they are wasting their time but when he finds a genuinely good person, he feels a sense of hope that good people do exist. However he is angered by the fact that they refuse to act when is necessary and Fealix is all about necessary evil. Fealix saw good and evil as individual ideals and the thing Fealix hated the most was covert manipulation and mental abuse on others. Of all the crimes Fealix was guilty of one he would never engage is mental abuse. He has suffered from it for years and would never engage in acts where others would be oppressed or manipulated. He was a lier, but he would never emotionally hurt someone. He lied to protect himself but oddly, he can be trusted in the fact he would not lie to endanger others unless he meant them harm. If he didn't like you, he would say it to your face and settle things his way. People who coerce others into doing this are his opinion of evil. Fealix hated Lamm more than anything and wanted nothing more than to act out against the man.
Fealix had been adopted by a well to do family who needed a good looking son to marry to a wealthy man’s daughter. Fealix was the perfect son to a middle class family. Dignified, polite, and very well mannered and intelligent, Fealix was everything the family had asked for. He was even able to woo several young ladies and their fathers. The family paid Gaedren Lamm a lot of money to adopt Fealix. Fealix was glad to go. For awhile the free life of being the perfect sun pleased him. He got a chance to indulge in many of the acts his deity and voice would encourage. He would secretly take pleasure of bedding daughters of rich nobles whenever the opportunity would arise. The only problem was, his new parents were only using him. He was immersed in a corrupt environment daily. Many of the young women he talked to opened up their darkest secrets while they were busy engaging in adulterous behavior. Secrets about their family’s and even secrets about themselves. The way people manipulated one another, used one another. On top of all that, there was the voice. The endless whispers that drove Fealix's desires for "justice" and pleasure.
Fealix’s mind was torn left and right since his birth. Now her he was, with new parents who were also ready to use and abuse him. The voices of the demons could be heard and he would strike again.
All dead. A celebration at a nobles mansion turned into a disaster as the build and all the occupants had been burned too dust. There was only one survivor. A boy of about 18 was found simply sitting in the courtyard lawn. With a bottle of wine in one hand and a half empty glass in the other, Fealix merely started at the devastation. One of the investigators had asked the boy what had happened. All Fealix did was shrug. ”I was drunk in the lawn last night. No clue what happened. My adopted parents were in there though. Guess I’m rich now.” He said all this with no emotion what so ever. With that he poured another glass and downed it whole.
Not long after that it was reported that his family home and all their processions had been donated to several orphanages except for the one Fealix grew up in. Fealix was on the prowl
Fealix continued to wander. The voices that haunted him were his guides. The raised him. Taught him everything he knew. But for all their malicious intentions, the one thing that kept Fealix from going completely over the edge was the memory of his friend Xeros. He committed calculated crimes to serve his purposes and would often target people he didn’t like, mostly that got in his way for attacked people he had come to care about. The demon world continued fascinated him and he learned much from his dark mentors.
Fealix hoped to one day get revenge against Gaedren Lamm and claim the main demon who kept whispering profane things to his mind.
Fealix is a red skinned Aasimar with brown hair and white eyes. He is a beautiful man with an appearance that would send any female’s heart into a flutter. He has charming features and seems quite friendly and approachable. He is physically fit and tall.
Fealix is usually seems lost in thought. He is friendly with everyone around him but he hides his darker side beneath it all. He is a bit of a flirt and will seduce women of beauty ad purity whenever he gets the chance. He always talks a saint and will perform good deeds whenever it suits him. He is not selfish as far as material goods are concerned. Material things seem to corrupt people and cause them to turn to manipulation to control or abuse others. He keeps only what is necessary. Often times Fealix can be seen talking to himself and he seldom responds to anything unusual. He is much desensitized that corpses of children don’t faze him and he isn’t bothered by suffering in the slightest. Unless it is beneficial to put on a farce. He does however admire those who wish to do good but if they die for it, they are fools. He does work well with others just enough to reach his goals. Seldom does he ever find anyone with similar interests. Due to his abuses, Fealix does give into rage from time to time, usually spurred on by the demon in his head. He will only show this side in combat and it will not likely surface any other time.
Fealix will be balance of spells melee and social skills. He is going to be a rage prophet. He has some anger issues and will be taking at least two levels in barbarian, urban barbarian if the campaign setting calls for it. He will mostly focus on oracle. Also, I talked to Mathpro about this in person and I should mention it to you to get your opinion on it. When he reaches the level necessary to call for an outsider and use binding, as listed in the UM book, I will be taking the leadership feat and calling forth the demon that exists in Fealix's head as a minion or a cohort as it were. Fealix is possessed and has been seduced by a succubi of Shamira and he hopes to one day call her forth and claim her as his slave. I leave it up to you weather that will be possible or not.
This character was a pain to mold into the plot but I think it works nicely. He is evil but not overtly and doesn't make a habit of running around and killing people without a good reason....from his point of view at any rate.
The story was heavily modified and I am afraid a lot of the stuff I put down wont make sense for sounds a little too off the wall. If anything is out of place or of concern do let me know and I will make adjustments. Please note, Fealix is my first evil character EVER. I'm usually goody two shoes so this is a bit of a stretch. You've seen him in action so you have a good idea as to what he is like.

Braggal |

I fixed Braggal's HP and made some adjustments to the character.
I also edited his background a bit. I had to find a a way to explain how he came across all that max-gold wealth.
I left his favoured class uncertain. I am not sure he was meant to be a rogue.
Perhaps he will find his calling through adventure.
I see him as a recovering addict...coping with the tragedy of his recent downfall.
It may be an emotional roller coaster for him at the start - unpredictable - with plenty of intriguing character developement.
He is built as a slippery rogue....at home in the dark alleys and quite capable of doing the dirty work for the party.
I hope you find him interesting.

Interested to join and here's the submission.
N Male Human
Adopted Shoanti Barbarian
Born destitute, Krill took whatever it needed to survive. Until one day an offer of light work for food and shelter made Krill succumb to the offer made by a man called Lam. Several years spent as a personal slave to the man was finall ended when Krill managed to break free from his grasp and ran away out of town. The local barbarian tribe took him in out of pity where he grew up accustomed to their ways and ingrained their culture. Just before the age of becoming, Krill finally returned to Korvosa, searching for his past tormentor eager for some payback to settle the past before taking the future as part of the rites of passage.
Looks
Not originally of barbarian stock, he stands about 5ft 7in, lean and wiry build with straight hair tied. He has a few accoutrements which his uses to keep his hair in place.
Personality
He has a slight accent especially if surprised or asked questions unexpectedly. Otherwise, finding Lamm and confronting him would always take precedence, he does not care for the law but does care that whatever his actions, he would have a way out. He is concerned on paying one's debts and would go out of his way to make sure he does not owe anyone. His is loyal to his adopted tribe and would help out anyone he knows from his tribe unless that someone is banished or shamed. He distrust magic casters that he is unfamiliar with. He has a favorable view on the divine and their clerics. He would have empathy with those wronged by Lamm. He despises slavery.
Mechanics
He would stay true to his barbarian background.

Braggal |

I hate to keep messing with a good thing. But I am eager to play so feel compelled to tinker around as I wait for an opportunity.
I decided that as a denizen of skid row, Braggal is no salesman. His failed business is further evidence of that.
I played a bit with the stats...lowering his Charisma to normal racial levels and boosting his Constitution to reflect his toughness.
Replaced "Addicts Friend" with "Recovered Addict" to reflect his fortitude.
Replaced Wharf Rat with Dump Scavenger.
Favoured class - Rogue.
Skill focus : Stealth

Here is a list of what we have so far:
Tyler : Halfling Knife Master (Rogue)
Caim : Human Magus
Fealix : Aasimar Oracle
Valius : Human Crossbowman (Fighter)
Braggal : Dwarven Rogue
Fenkar : Human Witch
Iolana : Human Bard
Krill : Human Barbarian

Did Braggal deal shiver?
Yes. He dealt some Shiver. Stole some stuff and traded it. Picked some pockets. Whatever he had to do to serve the addiction, then survive and then get out of the hole he was in.....
I don't think he committed these acts because he wanted to. He was desperate. He is not carrying any more drugs now. But that does not mean he is completely out of the hole.
Getting rid of that scumbag Lamm would help.
His story didn't change much...it's just a bit grittier than the previous version.

Bill Lumberg |
Amgir,
How do you feel about this? Fenkar might carry a bag with him that puts him into medium encumberance. In moments that he needs to move quickly he will drop it and then recover it when it is safe to do so.
Also:
Is alignment a major consideration in this game? If so, how would you view this?
I tied this to Fenkar's story in this way: After his humiliation, Fenkar took a room at a flophouse in the poor area of Korvosa. One of Lamm's cohorts who was unaware of Lamm's treatment of Fenkar was taking refuge there as well. He had been badly wounded and tried to get Fenkar to treat him.
Fenkar might have been able to save this man's life if still had his gear, but that was not the case. So he watched the man bleed to death and then stripped him bare of his possessions. He cut the head off and left the wretch in the man's room. No one was surprised at a headless dead man in this flophouse. With what gold he collected, Fenkar bought new supplies for himself.
Of course, the head is intended as a present for Lamm.
I also adjusted Fenkar for the +2 attribute bonus for humans.

Amgir |

Just a note to all players, in my games I try to keep a close eye on alignment. I am not REALLY strict, but if you do something that should alter your alignment, it will.
Example:
If you kill an innocent civilian for no reason, you will shift towards evil (or neutral if you were good to start with). If you kill him by accident (like a splash weapon) you won't shift. I would like you all to try and play as your alignments, sorry if that is different from most PbP GM's.
I have gone through your stats a few times, you have used the 20 point buy like I stated, however you haven't put in your +2 for Human anywhere. I know you said you adjusted for it, just thought I would mention it in case you had just forgotten to put it back on.

Shanosuke |

Its funny you mention alignments. I spent most of my day working them out of my campaigns. I am so sick of alignment rules that in my campaigns I'm simply gonna ditch them and add new rules for alignment based abilities an spells.
Don't worry. I will try and keep Fealix to his alignment. Just to let you know, he occasionally will do good things to cover himself. He's evil and he'll just does some good to hide it from others.
