Traits:
Framed (Dropout): +2 bonus to Spellcraft checks (Concentration instead?)
Reactionary: +2 on Initiative checks

Feats:
Extra Hex (Cackle)

Accursed Hex: When you target a creature with a hex that cannot target the same creature more than once per day, and that creature succeeds at its saving throw against the hex’s effect, you can target the creature with the same hex a second time before the end of your next turn. If the second attempt fails, you can make no further attempts to target that creature with the same hex for 1 day. Normal: You can only target a creature with these hexes once per day. Consider waiting for higher level to take this because low-level enemies will probably fail their saves most of the time.

Witch Class Features

Spoiler:

Patron -

Hexes:
Evil Eye (Su): The witch can cause doubt to creep into the mind of a foe within 30 feet that he can see. The target takes a –2 penalty on one of the following (witch’s choice): AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. This hex lasts for a number of rounds equal to 3 + the witch’s Intelligence modifier. A Will save reduces this to just 1 round. This is a mind-affecting effect. At 8th level the penalty increases to –4.

Cackle (Su): A witch can cackle madly as a move action. Any creature that is within 30 feet that is under the effects of an agony hex, charm hex, evil eye hex, fortune hex, or misfortune hex caused by the witch has the duration of that hex extended by 1 round. Alessio manifests this through invective rather than laughter.

Bio

Spoiler:

Alessio is a small, slightly built man who speaks with a steady, measured somewhat nasal voice that strikes many listeners as haughty in character. On occasion, others have mistaken him for a servant because of his odd choice of attire and his very proper mannerisms. He seethes quietly at this and most other slights but steadfastly tries to maintain a dignified, aloof poise.

Alessio was raised by his mother just outside of Korovsa. He is her youngest child and only son and grew up without a father. Alessio's mother had expected another daughter, it had been foretold by a harrow card reading, but his birth came as a shock to her. From the time he was born, Alessio was doted on to the point that his sisters and cousins nursed a jealous disdain for him. He grew up lonely and spent nearly all of his free time by himself. As the girls grew and received their familiars he learned to be jealous of them.[cut?]

When Alessio's cat familiar revealed itself to him his family was aghast. The cat heralds a patron of trickery, rather than one of the healing art which Alessio's family revered. This event marked the beginning of the young man's final estrangement from his family. For the next several years he studied magic on his own and planned to leave the village for Korvosa and its famed Acadamae where he would continue learning his craft.[Cut?] In time, Alessio found work and board in Korvosa as an aide to an Acadamae scholar named Stolmer. This fell short of true acceptance as a student at the magical school but it put Alessio on the threshold of acceptance into the Acadamae's halls. In addition to his studies and work, Alessio would use his healing skills for students who were injured in the course of their educations or amusements. In time he made some valuable contacts among the students and staff of the Acadamae.

But at the same time that Alessio aided the good people of the school he also attended to miscreants who had heard of his reputation as a healer. The young witch would treat them in rented rooms in the poorer parts of the city and would do it without asking questions. He immediately noticed that the wizardly students were often in the company of disreputable individuals.

Unfortunately for Alessio, some of those miscreants learned of his more comfortable dwelling place on Cliffcrest Street near the Acadamae and sought him out there. When the injured thieves came to his door Alessio was afraid that Stolmer or an Acadamae staff member would discover his side-profession and so he turned the street waifs away with an admonition never to return. He thought that this took care of the problem. But these thieves worked for Gaedren Lamm. When Lamm learned of Alessio's refusal to help his minions he considered it an insult and decided to repay this insult with one of his own.

Shortly thereafter, Stolmer was murdered and his home was ransacked. In addition to coin, many valuable items belonging to the Acadamae were stolen. The other professors assumed that Alessio desired Stolmer's collection of magic goods and blamed him for the murder. Alessio fled before he was arrested and hid himself among the undesirables in the Shingles District.

In the end it was Lamm who exonerated Alessio. He had Alessio abducted, beaten, dressed in the clothes and face-paints of a dead harlot and left on the steps of the Acadamae along with the corpse of his familiar. An amulet that had belonged to Stolmer was stuffed into Alessio's mouth and a sealed envelope was pinned to the bodice that he had been dressed in. The envelope was addressed to Toff Ornelos, the provost of the Acadame. Whatever the note in the envelope said it was enough for Ornelos to use his influence to see that this affair was forgotten and the suspicion against Alessio dismissed. Naturally, no one spared a thought for the dead prostitute.

Now without a home, a job or any reasonable thoughts of a future Alessio sits brooding in a rented flophouse room in the Shingles. He repeatedly shuffles a deck of harrow cards in the hope that they will show him how to pay his respects to Gaedren Lamm in a manner that all of Korvosa will remember. But then a small thrush landed at his window sill. This was not the new cat familiar that he expected; the thrush is a herald of Plague. What would the forces of Plague want with him?

And then he found a strange card among his harrow deck.
