Kiana was brought up in a respectable family of scientists, a family who always wanted her to be the best and for her to be the embodiement of beauty. Things had been going well until her family discovered that she was using her own body for her experiments. Naturally they were concerned for her health and forbad her from doing it ever again, but this just made her work worse.
She claimed that doing the experiments on herself allowede her to know how to improve them and make sure that they weren't harmful to others. so when her scientific results started to improve again, her family were over-joyed. Until they found out again, that she had started to experiment on herself (yet again).
So they kicked her out of the house, telling her to come back once she had grown up and stopped experimenting on herself; which suited Kiana fine. If she was away, they couldn't interupt her research. But how can a young, Gnome who studies the sciences find any work in New Stetven? That is when she found a boat that was going to silverhall, if she went there her family couldn't keep tabs on her, watching her every move. So she went to the boat and paid for a fee. She was allowed on, but regretted it soon after, she had never been on a boat and being on the water turned her stomach and made her vomit. So she resided herself in a small dark place and worked on a cure for her sickness.
