Nope. We all automatically distrust all outsiders. Besides I must look down with disdain on your primitive divine magics.
[looks down his nose snootily and scratches at his beard.]

DM medlii |
Sorry for the delay guys, I'm busy at the moment but should be able to post in an hour or two.

DM medlii |
That was fantastic! Thank you everyone for your patience during recruitment and for the introductions!

Corwin Avelard |

So, I have had my posting frequency decrease lately, and I have realized that it is time that I face facts. I cannot continue for the time being, at least until I get my feet underneath me and I figure out how all this is going to work.
What is "this"? Well, I am starting med school this year. In about a month, actually. I also am in the middle of a move from Hawaii back to Michigan. And last but not least...I am an older student, so I haven't been "in" school since oh...1998.
To say I am nervous and a bit freaked would be an understatement. I just don't think that I can continue posting until I get settled in, get my study rhythm down and figure out what is what.
I am certain that I will be scratching the walls and looking for a good stress release in a few months, and will most likely return...probably to a game or two.
In any regard, its been a good two years of fun. I have really enjoyed this. I am certain that posting regularly has helped my writing and probably helped my career in the process. You guys are a fantastic community, wonderful brilliant and imaginative writers and just lovely people. Cheers and I hope to see you again in a few months.

DM medlii |
Sorry to hear that you'll be leaving Corwin. Once you get settled in, let me know if you'd like to return. It's been a pleasure having you in the game!

DM medlii |
I hope this isn't too soon to Corwin's departure, but I received a very good application from Niveus Baryn, a druid who has recently traveled to Korvosa. He will jump in at the end of this combat.
Good thing you came along, Niv. Now I can make the dungeon even harder. Muahahaha. *sees that most of the skeletons are dead in one round and haven't hit anyone* Oh the skeletons were just practice to make sure you remembered how to roll dice ;)

Niveus Baryn |

Much obliged, Medlii - and thank you yet again for the opportunity.
Looking forward to the campaign, as I have been following the journey for a while - and not to mention to get to know the rest of the party!
Let's hope I bring some good rolls to the table then, seeing as how you're raising the difficulty!

DM medlii |
Apologies for the lack of post last night - the Paizo site was down for me all evening.
Thank you everyone for your patience while we get our new players settled in!

Niveus Baryn |

Concerning marching/group formation (not sure what you've all decided upon before) - Niveus will gladly take the middle or follow a few feet behind Bosch. He is used to travelling by his lonesome, thus in a party he would gladly take a more defensive position - allowing himself to properly prepare before wading into combat.

Bosch Glasthane |

Hey boss, would you be adverse to later letting party members use Orsini's Academy to take advantage of some of the retraining rules?

DM medlii |
We are nearly finished with Book 1: Edge of Anarchy! After this dungeon, there are some plot events, then an in-game month or two passes before the next book starts.
So yes, that would be an excellent opportunity to take advantage of the retraining rules from Ultimate Campaign, whether it's at Osirini's Academy, the regular Academae, the Pantheon of Many, Temple of Sarenrae, or whatever your character finds appropriate, as long as it is justified with some roleplaying :)

Typhon B'Ru |

Already used Orsini to explain my 3rd lvl feat TWF. XD.
On a different note, starting Sat. the 29th thru Sat the 6th I will be on a lake and having no internet access. So DMPC me as necessary for that week. Other than that I would like to say I am still really enjoying this game. XD

DM medlii |
I interpreted it as "I'm making a diplomacy check to see if I am delicious!" Awesome.

Niveus Baryn |

Just did some research concerning the Shillelagh spell. It seems it is a lot more potent than I thought:
It deals damage as if it were two size categories larger (a Small club or quarterstaff so transmuted deals 1d8 points of damage, a Medium 2d6, and a Large 3d6), +1 for its enhancement bonus
That means that the damage rolls should not have been 1d8 +2, but rather 2d6+3 (+2 strength +1 enhancement) - correct?
If so, here's the new damage roll (if allowed to replace it, and if this is correct - I will be sure to not make the same mistake again).
Damage Roll: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 3) + 3 = 7
It also lists the Melee Attack at +6 (+7 when I had guidance) - but I can't figure this part out. It lists my attack bonus at +2, my BAB at +4 - so how does that make it +6? If my Druid class give me +2, my strength another +2 and my Shillelagh +1, where is the last point from?
Sorry if my unfamiliarity with the game system is this horrid, I'm still quite new to everything.

DM medlii |
For the shillelagh, that's no problem. I will adjust the damage.
As for your attack roll, your math is in that the bonus should be +2 from strength, +2 from your base attack bonus, and +1 for masterwork quality darkwood club, which does not stack with +1 to attack from Shillelagh, for a +5 before guidance and +6 when using guidance.
Are you using Hero Labs? It may not be working with your darkwood club properly. Any darkwood item is automatically considered a masterwork weapon, so it gets +1 to attack rolls, but not to damage. Then, Hero Lab probably just stacked on the +1 to attack for shillelagh rather than 'knowing' that they don't stack. Hero Labs is a fantastic program but it occasionally makes mistakes like that.
Ask all the questions you'd like, it keeps me on my toes!
P.S. Today I learned to spell shillelagh. My Irish ancestors would be proud.

Niveus Baryn |

Ah, so that's where that last point is coming from. I just couldn't wrap my head around it!
And yes, I must have forgotten to mention that part - it's through Hero Lab, such a wonderful program and with all the addons you can really create all your characters with little to no hassle!
Thank you, I'll be sure to ask you enough questions to make your head spin throughout the campaign then!
Guess my Scottish ancestors couldn't care less how Shillelagh is spelled, but glad yours are proud of you!

DM medlii |
Nice, have fun on your trip! If Ty were on vacation a little longer, I'd control half the party. It would be like I'm playing D&D with myself...

DM medlii |
Assuming Typhon has returned, I am running Corwin and Trey at this point. If we don't hear from Ty by this time tomorrow, I'll continue to run him as an NPC.

Niveus Baryn |

Also, I'll end the Shillelagh next round. I find it hard to calculate exact durations, so perhaps a 3 minute(30 rounds) spell should end after combat is over if cast prior/during. i'll set barkskin at 150/300, as 15 'mins have passed by now I reckon.

DM medlii |
Those durations sound fair, it's hard to say how long walking around and exploring stuff really takes.
Niveus is able to gather 400g worth of herbs and other alchemical ingredients. If someone in the party doesn't have the craft: alchemy skill, you could trade them to an NPC alchemist to make you some potions to lessen the cost of whatever you're buying.

Niveus Baryn |

Excellent, I will be sure to do so in the future, then.
And towards the rest of the party, the gold will be split equally among us - seeing as how Niv is a man of nature, he cares not enough for gold to keep it to himself.

Typhon B'Ru |

Another thing that is nice about this group.
All too often I find myself in groups where they want to be the bad guys. It's refreshing to play in a group where everyone is a concerned person, and a hero.
Still enjoying this run.
XD

DM medlii |
Any other last-minute preparations in game? I'm hoping Trey is back and ready for this next room.
I was a little concerned during recruitment, I was hoping none of the PCs would be like "What? Korvosa sucks! Why would anyone want to live here? Let's leave the city and go kill some goblins or something!"

Niveus Baryn |

I'm ready for bringing nature's wrath down upon whatever you throw at us medlii!
Niv's Neutral Good, so it would be difficult to roleplay him in a way that would make him say something like that.

Trey Merosa |

Will be home wed. On the road all day tomorrow
Posting from hotel right now
Sorry about taking so long i really want to stay with this game
Been trying to get cuaght up reading posts right now
