How much for a masterwork composite long bow with +1 strength
" Each point of Strength bonus granted by the bow adds 100 gp to its cost"
"the masterwork quality adds 300 gp to the cost of a normal weapon"Longbow, Composite base price = 100gp.
Therefore, Masterwork Composite Longbow (+1 str) = 500gp

FYI, tomorrow (Tuesday) is pretty busy for me, I'm not sure if I'll be able to post again until Wed... don't worry, I'm not leaving you!

DM medlii |
Hope you're feeling better, Ty! I had a root canal a few years ago, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it wasn't fun either...

Tessa Alee |

There was a guy who lived on my floor at my old apartments who had an abscessed molar and no insurance. To kill the pain he smoked quite a lot of weed. One day the abscess broke and I found him laying in the hallway in pain, bleeding from the mouth and moaning in marijuana-tempered pain, shouting for help. I called 911 for him and the responding firemen took him off.
two lessons: get your damn teeth fixed, and don't live in low-income housing if you can help it!

DM medlii |
Happy Easter! If you are spending time with family, at church, or eating lots of chocolate rabbits, take your time with the things that matter! This game will still be here tomorrow.
On a related note, cadbury eggs make a pretty good breakfast.

Bosch Glasthane |

I've gotta say, I'm really enjoying this build. I've got enough flexibility to play with flavor stuff while still being combat effective with the aid of Roscoe.

DM medlii |
There are a few more scenes and some combats associated with the riots after the king's death, then there will be some in-game downtime. That will be good for crafting, fixing up the fishery, and whatever else your characters are interested in.
In the meantime, I am okay with the rule for crafting magic items that allows you to work during what little downtime you have while you adventure.
Source.
I will put together some costs of what the fishery will need to be totally repaired. Corwin will need to have a chance to inspect the fishery and put his ranks in Knowledge: Engineering & Architecture to use before you can start that.

DM medlii |
You could have Roscoe just act as a blocker and stand in front of doorways or other escape routes. Other than that, I'm not seeing that there are too many options until he gets some feats and can perform combat maneuvers.
And you are welcome to buy any items that are in the core rulebooks while you are walking the streets. Shopkeepers may be a little skittish with the riots going on in Korvosa, but they still want to make money!

Tessa Alee |

Tessa wants to collect all kinds of magic wands, scrolls, and charms. She won't be shy about piping up if she needs cash to cover party healing magic. So far so good.
As far as funds, each character has 1pp and 250 gp to their loot from our recent activities.

DM medlii |
The game tends to focus on one or two players during conversations when you have a party face in a play-by-post. At the same time, I don't mind posting back and forth, say with Bosch in this case to keep the story moving.
If you guys have any suggestions or prefer that we do it differently, let me know.

Bosch Glasthane |

Please do, I really don't want to steal the spotlight guys. I'm a big proponent of full-party involvement. Everyone should get an opportunity to shine.

DM medlii |
I'm glad to hear it! I haven't run a PBP campaign before. I have one table top game that I play with friends, but my schedule is just too hectic to commit to several hours of gaming at a time. But half an hour to an hour of posting per day works out great.
I like this campaign path too - unlike some adventures, you aren't just running all over the world on a series of quests - you have a home town that you're trying to save (four out of the six books in this adventure path take place in Korvosa).

DM medlii |
If you need a simple online map making program for tabletop games, this one is pretty cool -Ye Olde Mapmaker. It's free and very basic, but how much time do you really want to spend making a map that will get used for an hour? And they are easily printed to scale on regular paper. My only complaint is that there isn't a good way to move stuff, say if you need to shift your whole design left one square.

DM medlii |
I updated the campaign info to include a link to a map of Korvosa that identifies various places you've visited so far.

Bosch Glasthane |

I'm currently compiling a loot list and liquifying some of the assets.
Typhon and Tessa, I'm taking the price of the cure light wounds wands out of the party gold pool since they are useful to all of us.

Bosch Glasthane |

Currently we have:
5278.5 gp
silversheen
wand of Remove Disease (7 charges)
Oil of Keen edge
adamantine arrowhead
a silver dagger
thunderstone.
Wand of Magic Missile (18 charges, caster level 1)
Anyone want to claim anything/already claimed something that I missed?

DM medlii |
Wohoo! Let me know in or out of character what your character would like to do over the next in-game day or two. I'll post as necessary to resolve any stuff you are doing/investigating.
If I don't hear from you, I'll assume your character is resting up from all the excitement.

Bosch Glasthane |

Bosch is going to divide up his time between trying to get the Fishery into shape, working on a few weapons for his new friends and gathering information on Devargo Barvasi, Ambassador Darvayne Amprei, and Shadak Strifeminer.
Priority is on refitting Roscoe's current set or crafting a set of medium barding since I assume we'll be hitting 3rd level soon and Roscoe will hit 4th and advance in size.

Bandru Varz |

Bandru wants silver arrows.

Corwin Avelard |

Remember to keep 1000 out of the pot to bribe the spider.
We may also need more money than that, so individually saving some cash to throw back in towards a larger bribe might be a good idea.
We didn't sell the wareshouse right?

DM medlii |
No, you did not sell the fishery. Cressida is getting the paperwork in order so you can officially have the title transferred to your names.
On a successful attack with a silvered slashing or piercing weapon, the wielder takes a –1 penalty on the damage roll (with a minimum of 1 point of damage). The alchemical silvering process can't be applied to nonmetal items, and it doesn't work on rare metals such as adamantine, cold iron, and mithral.
Alchemical silver has 10 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 8.
Ammunition: +2 gp added to the cost of 20 arrows.

The gist of it is it will take 2 days and cost you 66.7gp to upgrade Roscoe's barding from size medium chain shirt barding to size large chain shirt barding if Bosch uses a forge and spends 8 hours per day crafting. If you'd like to make it masterwork, you pay the extra 150gp and it will take an additional day. You will need to make the DC 14 craft check, but you can take 10 since you are taking your time to craft the item.
Ok let's see how this works... the crafting rules say:
1. Find the item's price in silver pieces (1 gp = 10 sp).
Barding for a medium creature costs double the normal price and size large is four times the normal cost. For the sake of an example, let's pretend it's chain shirt/barding for size large Roscoe.
A chain shirt is 100gp or 1,000sp. Multiplying that by four since he will be size large makes it 4,000sp or 400gp.
2. Find the item's DC from Table: Craft Skills.
The craft DC for the armor is 10 + AC bonus. So the chain shirt is +4 to AC, making it DC 14.
3. Pay 1/3 of the item's price for the raw material cost.
Okay, that just depends on the result from #1. 1/3 of 4,000sp is 1333 sp.
BUT since Roscoe is already wearing a chain shirt, I will say that you can enlarge it and use the materials you already have to reduce the cost by consuming the size medium chain barding. So, let's do a little more math.... If we look at step #1 again, the cost of a medium chain barding would be 2,000 and the large is 4,000sp. So the cost of upgrading the medium to large is 4000-2000=2000sp. Then dividing by 3 gives us 667sp or 66.7gp for the cost of upgrading the medium chain barding to large mithral chain barding. (I hope I'm not confusing you too much here...)
4. Make an appropriate Craft check blah blah blah...
I don't like this part. This is way too complicated. At the rate from the crafting rules, it will take Bosch two to three weeks to make the armor! I say 2 days is plenty to get the work done as long as Bosch can spend at least 8 hours per day in the forge with the proper equipment to make the barding.
Create Masterwork Items: You can make a masterwork item: a weapon, suit of armor, shield, or tool that conveys a bonus on its use through its exceptional craftsmanship. To create a masterwork item, you create the masterwork component as if it were a separate item in addition to the standard item. The masterwork component has its own price (300 gp for a weapon or 150 gp for a suit of armor or a shield, see Equipment for the price of other masterwork tools) and a Craft DC of 20. Once both the standard component and the masterwork component are completed, the masterwork item is finished. The cost you pay for the masterwork component is one-third of the given amount, just as it is for the cost in raw materials.
Blah blah, if you'd like to craft a masterwork item, add 1 day to the craft time, and add 150gp to the cost for armor and 300g to the cost for a weapon.

Thanks

Bosch Glasthane |

@ Corwin:
I did not figure in the extra 1000 gp in the loot divisions
@ The Boss
Roscoe is advancing from small to medium, not medium to large. Also I'm counting Bee as helping her father in the forge
Crafting, Day 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Crafting, Day 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Crafting, Day 3: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Bee's Help, Day 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Bee's Help, Day 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Bee's Help, Day 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
...That should produce some g!!&%~n gorgeous barding

I am on the road for the next two days until I get to Dhaka. I should have decent internet there once I arrive.
