Yea... So I just looked at the bow and the hat... Didn't pay attention to anything else. Oops....

Nice! I like the suggestions, I also think this one could pass for Ibid. The clothes on the mini might not look like the Indiana Jones type outfit (especially since there is no hat) that I picture Ibid wearing, but, so far as I can tell, I think the mini is at least an older gentleman. Thoughts/Like/Dislikes/Hates?

Damien Wilmann |

Definitely got the old man thing going on, and has the right weapons. I like it!
If you want an Indiana Jones type just for GenCon, I'll happily repaint and bring the mini from above (This Guy).
I will also happily buy and bring the guy you linked (I'll even try to get him painted for you).
Jack , how did you like my Gunari options above? Perhaps you'd prefer Valeros?
As per my offer to Chris, I love painting and would be glad to buy and try to paint him for you. Main thing on the painting will be finding the time.

Damien Wilmann |

In other news, thanks Jyri for sharing your contact details. Chris B, want to join in? Did you get the invitation for the contact list?
I've linked to it in the scenario info (don't worry, you still need to be logged in and one of us to read it): PbP Superstar Contacts
I've added my photo on the new "Pics" tab, to help us find each other in person, and added a Locations column. Please do pop in your current city.... just in case we're traveling around and need a reminder of where you are. That way we can send each other a quick text and try to catch up. You never know. ;-)

@Damo - not sure about any of those... part of my issue is probably that I don't really picture him in his heavy armor... anyway... I'll figure something out... I have a TON of the Pathfinder Battles, and a new set releases VERY SOON.
For Faustus, I use the Scourge Hellknight (from Shattered Star, I think). Haven't needed on, yet, for Gunari.

christopher lockwood |

@ Damo: that would be amazing, but are you sure you'd want to spend the time to do that? I know you enjoy this stuff, but it seems like a lot out of your schedule and a lot of effort on your part. About the only way I'd feel OK about you going to all that effort for my mini is is if: I purchase the mini, have it shipped your way, pay you for some paints, and pay for your time and expertise.
After looking them all over again, I think I would probably go with the old ranger. This guy.

christopher lockwood |

Done. Here's your invoice.
Price of the mini: 1 beer
Cost of time & materials: 1 beerTotal cost: 2 beers
Oh, and please let me know what color scheme you would like.
Damnit, dude! I feel like I am taking advantage of you. Thank you very, very much though. And I'm renegotiating, or adding a tip, or whatever, for a few more beers for you. At the very least I owe you that.

christopher lockwood |

Dude, it's poor business practice to pay more than you are invoiced for. ;-)
Don't forget to send me the color scheme... otherwise, I'll try to match Ibid's avatar as best I can.
Trying to match the colors that show up in Ibid's tiny picture is the best idea I can come up with, assuming that works for you. Again thanks, dude. That is really awesome of you.

Ok, I might not be going to GenCon, but I’ll try to stay in the Con spirit nonetheless :) Here are some minis for my PFS characters:
Sensei Drusilla D’alazario with half-finished paint job.
Ludwig and his mutagenic alter ego The Herald (My very first PFS character)
Hulda, ulfen barbarian
Uncreated Hellknight one day I’ll create this character. Just because of the mini
I really don’t have anything for Amaranti, but this could be Kaisharga, when it grows big
Damien’s suggestion for Finarin looked familiar, so I had to do a bit rummaging through my miniatures. So here, just converted into standard bearer.

![]() |

Dudes, you are making me want to go through some of my metal minis... ones that were in various stage of painting ten years ago... I never got all that good at painting but I tried. I did get a couple done that I was proud of, but I typically just use the prepainted plastic ones now.

Those all look amazing, dude! Holy moly, man! You did an awesome job if you painted all those. If you want to be at gencon in spirit, just ship a mini as a place holder for Amaranti, and I'll set him on the table in honor of our allies who couldn't be there. The same goes for everyone ;)

Damien Wilmann |

Nice work on the painting, Jyri! Man, they are inspiring. I just want to crack out the paints and glue and get going again. Even just thinking about it brings all kinds of lovely smells to my mind.
I now also want to find an awesome mini, paint it and then do up a character based off it. Argh!
As for Ibid... I will personally leave the game, go to the trade hall at GenCon and purchase any miniature before I let you play with a quarter, dude.

Sol, spent the day playing The Tomb of the Iron Medusa with my level 15 rogue today. It was a b@%+! and a half.... And we had a strong party!
Rogue 15
gunslinger mutt 14
Cleric (healbot) 14
Wizard (evokes) 14
Witch 14 (w/ 2 levs alchemist)
Weapon master fighter (using falcata) 14
We had most of our bases covered, and complemented each other well... And still we struggled!
Was a lot of fun,th ough. Next, level 16 and The Moonscar!
Wondering if I should be done with rogue levels, and move to something else... Hmm.. Would have to be something with synergy to the rogue, and has to have an IMMEDIATE value (since he only has 3 more modules before he is totally retired. )
Ideas?

Damien Wilmann |

Thanks for filling out the contacts, guys. Still got some locations still to go, and some pictures! Let me know if you're having trouble with the pictures (eg. if you need a Lockwood on the photo) and just email it to me. I can add it in for you.
Jyri, I have a friend back in Oz from Iceland (actually, originally the Faroe Islands) and I had imagined you looking like him. I'll be blown if you couldn't be mistaken for his brother... well, at least cousin. Classic.
One of Dávur's public Facebook pics (he never did very well with security principles - tut, tut)
As for your rogue, Jack, really depends on your build and ability scores and hopes and desires may I suggest the following:
- Unchained Barbarian: Rage powers now stack with rogue finesse (rather than making it worse). Immediate benefits to your base speed (hello maneuverability), HP, BAB & fort save + RAGE. Get the extra rage feat here, I would say.
- Fighter: It's a classic mix in, for good reason. Immediate benefits to your HP, BAB, fort save & bonus feats. Good option if you're going to do 2 level dips, as you get 2 bonus feats +1 regular feat to (potentially) do a whole new feat tree.
- Swashbuckler: If you cha is 14+, this is a great option for the medium armor proficiency but also deeds and a panache pool. Bit of a waste of a weapon finesse, but still a good option if your charisma supports it.
With any of the above, you also get medium armor proficiency. I can't imagine that you have a light armor that you wouldn't be better off selling for half price and replacing with a lower enchantment on agile mithral half-plate.
Absolutely forget about any magic using class (of course). At 15th level, you're better off buying a wand or scrolls for whatever spells you need and getting a headband of intelligence with UMD (if needed).

PapaSteve's Wayfinder Alias |

1 level dip of alchemist gives you a dexterity mutagen... Just a thought.

@Damo, thanks... ideas are good. Swashbuckler really isn't good enough, because it duplicates a lot of abilities he already has. He's not going to go for medium armor, since he already has Celestial Armor (which is light armor, even though it is based on chainmail). I did think of Unchained Barbarian, because that would give him a net +3 to hit and +2 on damage, while raging. However, 5 rounds of rage would be used up really fast. Fighter is ok, 'cause a feat is a couple of feats.
Alchemist, that's an interesting idea... but no help on his bad will save. Maybe I need to get him an Ebon Wayfinder, and a clear spindle (it would have mattered yesterday).
Honestly, it is 95% likely that I'll just go rogue, again, if I can find a rogue trick I like. Really thinking of just getting the bonus feat, so that I can get Piranha Strike -- when he fights something that cannot be sneak attacked he goes from 9d6+10 damage down to 1d6+10... pretty severe drop. Being able to do at least 1d6+16 would make him able to penetrate those nasty DR10s more effectively.
Of course, yesterday, had his weapons been +5, that wouldn't have mattered (counts as silver, cold iron, adamantine, and any alignment for the purposes of penetrating DR). In fact, most of the money he got on that chronicle will go to make his two +4 ghost touch gladii +5.
I'll keep thinking... if I do go this route, it would be for levels 16-19, so I'd try and get the most out of it. That's why, perhaps, Barbarian might not be a bad thing.

Updated my location in the contact info tab, and added a recent picture of myself (stitches and all). Though I don't have a paizo/pathfinder shirt, I'll need to pick one up at gencon :)

![]() |

I'll have to get a picture in there, now, with my shiny new VL shirt on!
Oh, and I've found I probably have the perfect mini for Gunari... well, at least in his combat gear.... it is one that I painted a few years back... and should still look pretty good. I AM going to take a picture of some of my old minis (not that I typically use them, but will break the metal ones out for this group!)
I've got another that would be great for Faustus, but would require a total repaint!

![]() |

I used to paint more years back, when I was still playing warhammer. It's incredibly satisfying to concentrate on just putting paint on a miniature, but very rarely I find the time (or energy) to start setting everything up. Plus these days almost all of my paints are over ten years old, so I have to stick to colors that haven't dried up :) BTW, two of those mind's were pre-painted...
Let me know if you ever come across a good mini for halfling swashbuckler. Almost all halflings are cloak and dagger rogues.

Papasteve08 |

I soooo want to break my paints out again... We will see how soon I find them after the move...
Oh yea, WE FINALLY CLOSE ON OUR NEW HOUSE THIS THURSDAY!!!
I am so excited for all of this crazy, half-moved, half-packed, half-family-up-north-half-down-state crap to be overwith.
Though I have no idea how long until we get internet at the new place... so I may be posting exclusively from my phone for a bit. Not the end of the world, but sometimes it is a pain to do in-depth posts. I will work through it.
And Jyri - you could have taken credit for the pre-painted and we might never have known... :)

Three threads, three combats, almost no meetings on my calendar today. I find myself refreshing like mad again... All three of these combats are awesome too...
As a side note... Odds on Neil Spicer reading our ROW thread? Or at least portions? I am beyond curious to hear what he thinks of how you have run things so far Damien...

Damien Wilmann |

Vegas soon, boys! Can't wait. See if you can down the doll before then. ;-)
Also, PMed Neil Spicer. He said he'd have a read if he managed to find the time. I take that as a "no" usually, but fingers crossed.
His reply was:
Thanks for the heads-up. Reign of Winter has proven to be a very popular AP for folks playing via the messageboards. I'm glad to hear your group is having fun with it, and that you enjoyed some of my earlier work (i.e., Blood for Blood and Ashes at Dawn). Feel free to leave a review of your experiences playing through the adventures, and I may drop in to check out your PbP as time permits.

Is it me or does the Puzzel Box spell seem a bit too powerful?
Missing the link, do you mean the trapped puzzle box?

PapaSteve's Wayfinder Alias |

Vegas soon, boys!
Never been before, sounds awesome! Put 10 on the lions winning it all for me :) have fun!

PUZZLE BOX
School enchantment (compulsion) [curseUM, mind-affecting]; Level bard 2, sorcerer/wizard 3, witch 3
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) or touch; see text
Target one creature or one object up to 5 lbs./level
Duration 1 round/level or permanent; see text
Saving Throw Will negates or none; Spell Resistance yesThis spell causes even commonly used objects to become conundrums. When cast on a creature, the target loses all weapon and shield proficiencies. The target also forgets how to use all spell-completion, spell-trigger, and use-activated magic items, as well as any mundane items used as part of a skill check, imposing a –5 penalty on all ability and skill checks attempted with such items. These effects last for 1 round per level. As a move action, the target can attempt a skill check to negate the effects of this spell for one object. Weapons, shields, and mundane objects require a successful Craft skill check of the type required to craft the item in question, with a DC equal to the spell's save DC. Magic items require a successful Spellcraft or Use Magic Device skill check against the spell's save DC.
Alternatively, this spell can be cast on a single touched object that weighs up to 5 pounds per the caster's level. Use of this object becomes a puzzle even to those previously familiar with it. Any creature attempting to use an item affected in this way is treated as though the creature was the target of puzzle box for that item only. When cast on an object, the duration of this spell is permanent.

I believe the next one is "from under ice". Then Damien will put the misfits on hold to run one more Drongos scenario in order to get us to the magical 6.1 level for Gencon.*
Should we make that the slave master's mirror? If we don't, these characters will level past the tier for that scenario during the gencon frenzy.* Just a thought...
Otherwise there appears to be a couple in each of the seasons available for play according to our planner.
*I'm so sorry John...

Papasteve08 |

If this counts as some sort of internet gambling violation of the laws, then no, I am not serious.
If it doesn't.... then sure! :) I'll probably never make it to vegas to do it myself, and always wanted to do it just to say I did. I'll hit you up at Gencon. I was only joking, but if you really want to take me up on it then I am game :)

TheBobJones |

Not running From Under Ice - I can't get credit for that. Would be great if you could run it, John.
If you all want to wait until the 15th, yes.
We'll need to discuss which scenario or module is next for the Slayers. Do you want to run another scenario (such as The Temple of Empyrial Enlightenment) or Thornkeep: The Enigma Vaults?
Either I am good with, very interested in both.

Papasteve08 |

Alright, I'm off to Vegas! Wish me luck, and I'll try to get that bet down, Steve... but I can't find any odds on the Lions to win the Superbowl yet. Might just be a bit too early.
I figured they updated that stuff every chance they get.. :) No worries though. I still owe you multiple drinks during GenCon anyways.
