Is it just those 3 who can post right now, or were you just calling them out because they're high in the order and haven't gone yet? I'll wait for a response before I post my round 1... also, any chance we could get a shot of the map with guards on it? Thanks.
I was just trying to facilitate initiative flow with reminders of who is up, who is on deck, etc... Feel free to post round 1 actions any time, just don't do round 2 actions til everyone's gone in round 1...

whew, 24 guards. Well, MJ, know that you only did this to yourself. :) . Did you put in the snake mini for Johann? The crowded nature of the map makes things difficult to interpret, but with all 24 guards just wanted to remind about my readied strike and the AoO's. I will roll my third AoO, because it seems very possible that all of them will go off. Maybe you could mark our own characters with a tiny sticker or something?
Bite AoO 3 & damage: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 293d6 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) + 8 + (2) = 18
The Ogon Fox
1 person marked this as a favorite.
I'll leave it to you, MJ, how many guards I can catch in a 15ft cone. I have my move action available to position myself as best I can before casting, and I'm willing to provoke attacks of opportunity during the movement--since those will occur before I cast, they won't affect my casting of the spell, unless there is ongoing damage involved.
Seeing the onrush of guards, the Ogon Fox splays out his fingers and casts burning hands on a swath of them. DC 17 Reflex save for half damage.
Concentration to cast defensively at DC 17: 1d20 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 6 = 24
Fire damage: 5d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 2, 3) = 12
Oh! But don't forget to roll 20% miss chance on any attacks against me, because I have blur. Same goes for Zag, Johann, Lucius, and Wulfgar.
Ihrin Ardlean Dracul
Don't forget I am there too. Though with the veiw of so many guards I wonder if any of the other doors are still blocked
Hmm should I see and sneak in and kill them from behind?
Alexei Orlovsky
you should definitely try to come in from behind
Round 1:
Alexei listens to the sound of oncoming guards as he watches the Ogon Fox rush off after Wulfgar and the snake.
somebody better stop those guards from coming around the other side and surrounding us...
The Rabbi's gaze drifts off as he calculates the fundamental geometry undergirding this time and place. Then, with an unusual incantation, he tears open a pit blocking the entrance opposite where the Jackals headed.
7d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4, 4, 3, 6, 5) = 29
lol- that's the easiest sacred geometry ever! I just add everything together and I succeed.
Also, I can't fail the arithmancy roll so that's +1 caster level too.
Creates a 10' square pit completely blocking the entrance that was to the right in the last picture. The guy who's in the entryway (and anyone else who ends movement adjacent to the pit) has to make a Ref save or fall in. It's 40' deep (4d6 falling damage) and the climb DC to get out is 25 (which most creatures will have to make several of). I'm spending an arcane point to up the Ref DC to 21, and it lasts for 18 rounds.
Michael Johnson 66
Our location on the map has changed, Wulfgar is large, is there any chance he got AOO's against any of the rushing guards?
I switched the angle of the view of the photo, and some Pcs have moved already. No guards have come within Wulfgar's threat reach yet...
Guard of Marrakech
As Ogon Fox darts up to the nearest three guards and starts casting his spell, the closest guard swings his scimitar at Fox! AoO scimitar 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 misses!
Fox completes the casting and catches all three in the cone of flame!
Reflex vs DC 17 burning hands 1d20 ⇒ 13 fails, takes 12 fire damage!
Reflex vs DC 17 burning hands 1d20 ⇒ 16 fails, takes 12 fire damage!
Reflex vs DC 17 burning hands 1d20 ⇒ 18 succeeds, takes 6 fire damage!
The men twist and scream as the fire burns them!

Don't forget I am there too. Though with the veiw of so many guards I wonder if any of the other doors are still blocked

Ihrin is currently at the back of the party, and can hear the approach of guards from the throne room archways... She could sneak around through adjacent chambers to come into the throne room from the backside, but it will take a few rounds of sneaking...

A pit magically yawns beneath one of the palace guards...Reflex 1d20 ⇒ 3 fails!...who falls in, screaming, and hits the bottom...4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 2) = 10...twisting his ankle as he lands prone!
AAAAAIIIEEE--OOF!!*SPLAT!!*

Two more guards, adjacent to Alexei's kabbalistic pit when they finish rushing up, slide and stagger to avoid falling in as well...Reflex vs DC 21 pit 1d20 ⇒ 20 barely avoids falling in with a natural 20 on the saving throw! 1d20 ⇒ 11 other falls in for 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 3) = 10 falling damage!...But one of the two can't stop his forward momentum in time and pitches headlong into the pit!
AAAAHHH!!*CRUNCH!!*
Guard of Marrakech
Johann hisses with delight and slides forward 30 feet. He ends up at the northern entry to the room, where he gets a wide view of the chamber and its occupants. As a swift action, he enable his minor snake aspect giving various bonuses which I will add in
Johann readies an action to strike at the first enemy that comes within his 10 foot reach!
Also, with his reach, Johann could possibly get some AoO off if any enemies try to close to immediate melee range. His bite counts as magic, cold iron, and silver if it matters.
Readied power attack:

edit: added haste bonus in
As the guards rush up, Cobra Johann strikes one dead with his lethal fangs, and then three more guards come within the great cobra's reach, and each are struck down by the deadly shapeshifter!
Wow, that's 4 guards down in one round for Johann!
Michael Johnson 66
UPDATED POSITIONS...Not shown are the two trapped in Alexei's pit or the four killed by Cobra Johann... Sorry the photo is of poor quality, I will be posting more as the battle unfolds, and hopefully they will be better.

Lady Giovanna follows her comrade Mwikali into the throne room, witnesses her blast the behir with a fireball and the onrushing guards, and thrusts her fell rapier at the nearest guard...Thrust 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33 confirm 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31 Crist! Pierced through the torso, the guard falls dead and slides off the swashbuckler's corrosive blade...
Mwikali
Where am I in all this? I know I stepped around the corner to blast the area full of fire but after that, I lost my positioning.
Ihrin Ardlean Dracul
Was wondering if there was any way to slip in and get closer to either the emir or vizier. If not she'll get closer and look for an opening to sneak attack someone or thing
Michael Johnson 66
Better UPDATED POSITIONS with Witch Mwikali at the far archway next to Vanna and to the behir's right side... Wulfgar, Lord Perpireen, Achiko, Ihren, and Algoral are in the hall outside the north (right) archway into throne room... while Zag, Bear and Fox lead the assault on the left side (south archway), with Cardinal Lucius, Alexei Orlovsky, and Boga trailing in back... Emir Al'Haaq is the guy with white cloak and cap and orange bow on his back. To his left stands Vizier Jabaar and the horned axe wielding mini represents the bound efreeti Razaad...
Michael Johnson 66
Emir Al’Haaq of Marrakech
ROUND 1:
As if reading Cobra Johann's mind, the evil Emir decides to give the shapeshifter his third electric shock that day, hurling a lightning bolt at Johann!
7d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 6, 6, 6, 1) = 29 electricity damage, or half that with a successful DC 16 Reflex save...
FULGORIS!! shouts the emir, forking his fingers at Johann...
*BZZZAAAAPPP!!!*
Efreeti Razaad Bin Razaard
ROUND 1:
The efreeti Razaad whispers into his master's (the vizier) ear in Arabic: This is the Emir's true fate, as I have foretold, master... He will die here, and his real nature will be revealed...
The efreeti sees Cardinal Lucius, Boga of the Hand, and Alexei Orlovsky in the corridor through the archway, and sees enough of the area (with which it is very familiar) to cast wall of fire to fill the hallway in which Cardinal Lucius, Boga, Alexei, Algoral, Wulfgar, Achiko, and Lord Perpireen are still in with a curtain of purple, searing flames, evoking it to seal off the three escape routes behind the party...
2d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 fire damage to Boga, Alexei, Achiko, Wulfgar, and Lord Perpireen, all of whom are within 10 feet of the hot side of the curtain of flames running the length of the corridor at their backs...
1d4 ⇒ 4 fire damage to Cardinal Lucius, who is within 20 feet of the hot side... and no damage to Algoral, who is sealed off by the wall from the rest of the group in the central junction of corridors, but is on the non-hot side...
Vizier Akhbad Bin Jabaar
ROUND 1:
The efreeti Razaad whispers into his master's (the vizier) ear in Arabic: This is the Emir's true fate, as I have foretold, master... He will die here, and his real nature will be revealed...
Hearing his wise servant's whispered words, the pyromancer pauses in casting the delayed blast fireball (They like to play with fire, aye?) he was about to cast, and considers it likely that, as his efreeti servant warned, not only would the emir meet his fate here today, they also would perish if they stayed and fought at their emir's side...
Damnations! The doom Razaad foretold is upon us! We must flee now, or die fighting...
Either way, the pyromancer wasn't going to waste that delayed blast fireball...
Combustus explodus! shouts the vizier, pointing his finger at a point in the midst of the Crusaders of the Catacombs back in the hall...
*KA-BOOOM!!!*
Fireball deals 13d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 2, 5, 5, 1, 4, 6, 3, 4, 1, 4) = 43 fire damage to all of the Crusaders of the Catacombs and Alexei (so none of the Desert Jackals or other new PCs), or half that damage with a DC 25 Reflex save!
Achiko of The Yellow Reed
ROUND 1:
Achiko joins Ihrin in stealthily flanking the behir, whose attention is currently drawn by the orc, cobra and fox in front of it, making it a prime target for the backstabbing rogue and ninja...
Double move out of the fiery hallway to join Ihrin in flanking Boombada with Zagathoth and Cobra Johann...
Cardinal Lucius d'Borja

Sorry about the slowness, moving and the sheer volume of posts means this is hard to keep up with!
Lucius steels himself, "Son of the Infidel! The Lord's judgement is at hand!" before striding through the wall of flames!
Resistance Judgement for Resist Energy (Fire): 6 on the Emir. Walk through the flames, drawing Dies Irae! Close with the Emir as best I can.

Resistance Judgement for Resist Energy (Fire): 6 on the Emir. Walk through the flames, drawing Dies Irae! Close with the Emir as best I can.
Lucius walks unharmed through the flames into the throne room, where his path to the Emir is cut off by a combination of interposed enemies (the behir, the palace guards) and terrain (the rabbi's pit hinders both enemy and ally)... Dies Irae blazing with holy radiance in his hand, the elderly yet still formidable Inquisitor can only glare at his foe across the magically opened pit that suddenly separates them in the throne room floor...

Boga DM bot
Running away from the flames of the efreeti's wall of fire and into the throne room, Boga sees the dire wounds afflicting Cobra Johann, and pulls a bottle of healing wine from Rumplestilskin's rucksack, to be uncorked and poured down the cobra's gullet as soon as he is able... Move action to move 15 feet to Johann, second move action to retrieve bottle of healing wine... Next round, he can administer it to Johann on his turn, healing 3d8+10 hp of Johann's damage...
