Sorry for the delay. Somehow I missed that we went live! I'll work on catching up and easing my way in now.
Thanks Gerald for the PM!

CHH, if you want to roll for it, that's fine. Wasn't sure if you were playing a melee-oriented oracle or a spell-casting focused one.

Hi Kronek are you meaning the sword? No, you take it, it makes sense. I hadn't really thought about it, but yeah I think I will focus on Asgrid's spellcasting. Though should we come across a dwarven waraxe, she'd love to add it to her collection.

If you can't tell, Geedra is neutral greedy. If we do find some treasure, she will try to claim more than her fair share. Please speak up and keep her in line, because if no one claims an item for instance, she will happily take it. I'm not trying to be bad, but she still has a few goblin-esque tendencies that need to be regulated...

@Woodsmoke: How are you going to handle experience points and treasure?
Woodsmoke |
I'm not partial to anything in particular. I can give it out per encounter, or just keep tabs on it myself and tell you when you've leveled; whichever you guys want. Treasure-wise if you guys want to keep a community pot I'll keep it noted in the campaign tab. I tend to not allow the sort of video-game type community pot where the party is just carrying around 20 suits of armor, 20 shields, 20 swords, et cetera.
Cara Shalandrael |
However you want to do it is fine with me. It might be easier just to have you track experience and post the treasure pot in the campaign tab. Although if someone claims something, it might be simpler to have them put it on the sheet instead of having you go to the extra step of listing it.
Kronek |
I think that makes sense. If we claim it or roll for it or whatever, just put it on the personal sheet Otherwise on the community sheet (within reason as suggested).
I'd just as soon level us at the appropriate spots. All of the APs these days have pretty set spots for leveling and while I think that matches the experience points, it probably easiest to just level us at those points.

I'll be GMing 6 slots at a con this weekend so if needed GMPC me. Will try to check in, but you might not hear from me until Sun night/Monday.

Anyone read "Stormdancer" by Jay Kristoff? It's been a terrific read, very much recommend it. Though, I hadn't expected there to be such a steampunk element to it, there wasn't much to indicate that on the blurb on the back of the book. Even more interesting, looking at one of Jay Kristoff's interviews on Facebook, looks like he's a fellow gamer.
Reading it really makes me want to play a character with a pet griffin! I think when I was a kid playing old D&D, that was something I always aspired to for my characters, but never seemed to happen. That, and I always wanted to play a character who built a stronghold and gathered an army of henchmen. That would have been cool.

Never read it. Sounds interesting.
Both of those goals seem achievable, but you have to make it to high level to pull off either. My games, when played in person never went above level 12 or so, before breaking up for some reason or another.

Yeah, most of my games ended up the same, though I don't think we ever got as far as level 12. In fact, my early memories as a kid learning about role-playing games involved a lot of hand-drawn dungeons that involved 10 foot x 10 foot rooms, and the sense of wonder when I discovered the expert rules set in the blue box and realized that you could create a whole world beyond a dungeon. I think that's when I started fantasizing about griffins and building towers...and reaching Name level! Things seem to have come a long way since then.

Hi all, please NPC me for the moment - came back from our trip to find phone and internet seem to have packed in. I'll try to update during my lunch breaks at work if I can, but today I spent the whole hour catching up on RL stuff. Just temporary, but might struggle to get things sorted before the end of the week.

In regards to the previous conversation, the highest level to which I have played in a legitimate campaign is 13 in 3rd Edition over about ten years. That is/was my favorite character I've ever played (to the point that I have a tattoo of him). Went from a large group of players back in high school that splintered into two separate groups and his group dwindled down to the point where it was actually just a solo campaign with my character and an NPC. I'd only really play him about once a year at that point due to other campaigns taking point, and the DM and I would invite a second PC in each yearly installment which would sort of become two to three session arcs. Unfortunately, that DM (also the guy that originally taught me how to play) moved out of state a year ago, so I suppose that character is quite retired now. Never had a griffon, but he did have an armored rhinoceros mount.
Asgrid Hjalterskell |
Well, lo and behold, would you look at this cover from Kobold Press! That could have been my character!
Armored rhinoceros mount sounds awesome. Not sure which character I'd have a tattoo of, though I'm enjoying being Asgrid. Not sure what my wife would think if I got a picture of a lady dwarf tattooed on me, would certainly raise a few eyebrows. :)
Woodsmoke |
Haha, it just might indeed. The character I was talking about was a male dwarven barbarian named Ollom Mithrilrasp, though eventually he became known as The Red Bear. He actually had a NPC bard seek him out and follow him around to record his exploits. I miss the character a lot. Particularly sad to be done with him because when I stopped playing him I was just starting a person quest to reclaim the nine broken shards from his waraxe that he found out was actually an ancient weapon of legend that was sundered into shards in centuries past.
Cara Shalandrael |
Woodsmoke, have you considered just rolling initiative for everyone? It might help the game go a little faster.
Kronek |
Sorry all, had some travel and other things that caused me to totally drop for a bit. Now coming back.

Hi, my posting might be a bit erratic the next few days as I'll be volunteering. I'll fit in as many posts as I can, but then will be away from Saturday for a week. Should be back to regular gaming 11th august, feel free to GMPC Asgrid as needed.
