Ya. In pbp terms this game is getting pretty old. Good thing this one is ageing like wine!
We're still playing the prologue though!
@Everyone: Thanks for staying (or joining) ;-)
@Leni: yeah that really bugged me out. Every single novel I've ever read has full-auto lasguns AND bolters in it.
Full Auto = Cone Fire = Suppressive fire in my rework.
Cmd-Keen Medic |
Well also remember that we are still Mudfeet and that includes the leader. You're not supposed to make the best decision there is. Honestly we're waaaaaaaay below our quota of guardsmen death anyway
We would roll up Lil Jimmy who lied about his age to enlist, then have him bleeding out in a pile of rubble within a handful of minutes.
THAT was the original inspiration of this campaign, which is why everyone is supposed to have a few backup characters at the ready.
So don't feel pressured just because things are getting hairy. You're doing very well leading the squad.
On another note while we are 'obliged' to follow your commands our characters are still individuals and blatant disregard of commands all the way to 'accidental weapons discharge' IS a thing in the guard. Which is why Commisars and punishments from latrine duty, flocking all the way up to summary execution is a thing.
Game: Yay, we're pBp Granma/-pas xD

@Choon
I remember Cormaeg asking about the big Boss' armor being metal because he has a melta bomb with magnetic clamps which would fit very snugly attached to that armor. That sounded like a plan to me =3

Yup! I'm all for it!

So I could use overwatch to start the suppresive fire only once the ork moves through the door instead of 'wasting' the first salvo of suppresive fire into the door?
@Choon
I don't think anyone else did. Everyone else was murderd for vanishing as a player
Cmd-Keen Medic |
Apparently everyone is better at this game than me. :P
Or, since the stated intent of this game IS tto have our mudfeet dying in the trenches you could say you're the only one who got the spirit of the game ;D
OR we just need to make a mental note that IF you're carrying your own weight in exlosives on you then you should also try to modify your weapon to be reliable =3
Cmd-Keen Medic |
@Leni: Yes you can. Or you can Dakka! and move if you want to change position.
Nice! Overwatch into full auto, then move, full auto it is =D
Getting hit by 2 full auto bursts in the round they move through might just make grown orks pause. Or die. actually i'd prefer the latter.Choon the Expendable |
Hopefully we can get that melta to the big one without dying horribly. One round of melee should do it. Hopefully. I'm running out of steam here! :)
Simmins Olways |
Well a 1d5 heal won't really do me much good so Simmins will just suppressive fire. Maybe the fate point will help with a dodge roll to avoid an attack completely. Only have phone access so please calculate bonuses for me.
Choon the Expendable |
Krish uses the power of the warp to teleport the melta onto it's back without us having to actually go get all personal with it... :D *yay!*

Quick survey: What do you think about opening up a small discord for ooc purposes?
In my experience that makes q/a times much faster plus it has the nice benefit of not relying on the wonky nature of the paizo page.
If someone is experiencing sudden lack-of-updates (e.g. Krish atm), I could notify them much easier about updates.
Choon the Expendable |
Dagnabbit, grandma! You're throwing off the groove! :P
But seriously, Happy Birthday!
Choon the Expendable |
I love that the heals just so happen to come as I'm yelling about the Emprah and thus only validate Thud's belief that he's the Emprah's chosen. >.<
The Ghost of War |
@Coemaeg: Do you want to join our discord too?
People are scheming there and miss you ;-)

@Cormaeg: People are already thinking about who they are going to play next in our discord channel. As of now, Keen is looking to revive the very first Commissar the group encountered and who nearly died during their first mission and is now back, now 66% more augmentic and at least 33% meaner than ever before. He will probably take squad command for the next round, but don't expect him to be playing a collegial commissar. Just as an head up. Anything you fancy playing next?
I also asked people for their opinion about recruiting one or two more people to cancel out the various losses we took during the last couple of months. Any thoughts on that matter?
Choon the Expendable |
Oh, certainly. That's what we're doing with Thud.
This is the first time we've had enough xp to gain a specialty off the bat. How would you like to play that out? In the backstory? Or hold off until you've played at least one mission?
Cormaeg MacCammon. |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I've already thought about that a bit, I plan on Bringing back Asbjörn for the next mission, since he didn't get a chance to shine as much as he could have.
I'm also planing on giving him the advanced specialty of Brecher, since not only is it a good fit, it also is so close to an operator that it makes logical sense why he would have been trained in it.
I'm trying to make things fit like that, Liam is going to become a Sentry when he is played next, and I think I added some reasoning in play, constantly griping in inner monologues about lacking proper firepower to help, Sentry having Intelligence as one of it's characteristics thus not being too far removed, and relying on awareness and perception a fair bit, which Liam has pretty high stats in.
And Cormaeg is fixing to becoming a brawler, adding more offense to his pretty decent defense training.
I like the logical chains like that.
The Ghost of War |
Despite you guys not knowing it, the squad is coming together quite nicely for the next mission.
Looks like:
- 1 Commissar
- 2 Breachers (one a former operator, the other a weapon specialist / heavy weapon trooper)
- 1 Flame-loving Priest
- 1 (potential) Crimson Exemplar (aka highly militarized enginseer)
The Ghost of War |
First of all: thanks for picking up the speed with me again, you rock :-)
Next is announcement for the semi-near-future:
With the Emperors blessing, my wife will give birth to our firstborn somewhere around mid-January.
As most of you probably know from experience, the time after will (most likely) be rather busy for me, so game speed will (most likely) be slacking.
I'll have leave from work for a month following lil'uns grand entrance, so the usual posting time during work breaks will be missing during that time as well. Once I return to work, things should get back to semi-normal pretty quickly though.
Just a heads-up, in case I go missing from one day to the other.
I'll be back ;-)
Choon the Expendable |
Congrats on the little one! Sorry, I forgot I actually post that here... oops.
I just re-read Frenzy and I was reminded that I need 30 mins. of recovery in between Frenzies. Oops again. I'll remember this in the future.
The Ghost of War |
Thanksys :-)
@Frenzy: Well, in the light of recent changes of many ruling to 'once per scene - maybe more but with a test and/or dire consequences', I'll look at frenzy in the same light as time permits.
@Choon: I really enjoyed the whole 'awakening' thing for the Eviscerator, so I decided that you are going to have and 'unlock' it for every type of enemy :-P
Choon the Expendable |
Well, this Hive is full of Greenskins and I ain't ded yet! That may prove problematic later though when I fight something else...
Choon the Expendable |
I decided to specialize in Launchers for my breacher. I took Lasgun Barrage to better use my Good craftsmanship M36
The Ghost of War |
If you did not remember it: I reworked the Weapon Expertise / Mastery talent line (partly introduced in the Hammer book).
These are weapon type specific boosts and are Tier-2 respectively Tier-3 talents.
You can find the specifics in the OneNote under Rulebook->Weapon Expertise (for cost and prerequisites) and Armory->Weapon Types [Ranged] (for benefits per type)
They are still kinda 'beta' and I am not yet perfectly satisfied with them, but you can pick them if you like to. Gives me an opportunity to playtest them and adjust them accordingly on-the-fly.
