"Nicely done." Alleria praises her cat- like companion. She tosses her club into the air and catches it on the business end, before tossing it again and letting the handle slide into her grasp. "We should search this guy and be on our way, at least one guard and a medic are coming, but first; introductions. I am Alleria Starfrost; bard, assassin and women of many talents, who might you be?"

GM - Fitzmarc:

Fitzmarc sits up from the floor, setting down the bundle that was once a chair and now serving as a weight, bound by the remains of what was his brocade jacket. He sighs as he considers the faded, ruined thing for a moment, lost in a memory that he quickly shakes off as the sounds of combat continue. He looks to the wall, now covered in scratches, and tallies the freshest ones before laughing, Thrice times thirteen days... As per the prediction...

He rises to his feet and heads to the corner of the room, where the slow leak has allowed the tiniest of trickles of water to enter his cell, looking at the two inches that has collected in the skull of the animal that appeared and spoke to him some thirty-odd days ago. I don't know that I could have kept rationing for much longer.... but I have done what I was told and made ready.., he thinks as he raises the thing to his dry, cracked lips and allows the water to penetrate, separating his tongue from the roof of his mouth. "Better," he says aloud, testing his ability to speak, and nodding to find his throat has been moistened at least enough for that.

He takes the torn, faded jacket from the chair he didn't ruin, putting it on.. and then wincing as his signet catches on the lace cuff and tears a line down the right sleeve. Be careful what you wish for..., he thinks again... a thought that he's had countless times during his imprisonment. Finally, he adjusts the jacket, trying to straighten it without tearing it further, Bad enough I don't have a shirt to put under it..., he thinks, and then lifts the makeshift weight he's been using to regain the muscles that had atrophied over the decades of his imprisonment now that he's finally been able to eat again, and hurls the heavy thing at the wall, the fabric and knots all but exploding into dust upon impact, the single weight rattling loudly as the various sticks separate and rattle against the wall and the floor. Disappointed, he sighs and takes the unbroken chair in his hands, This had best be right... I've no other furniture..., he thinks, and then slams the chair into the metal bars on this side of the wall, smiling at the louder, ringing noise even as the chair splinters, and calls out, "In here."

"Eh, they'll be more trouble than they're worth. Let's find this secret cell and grab our partner. Screw the rest of these flunkies.". Breeze grabs the single vial off the corpse, knowing it might come in useful later. If Breeze has learned anything about the prison, she will start heading in the opposite direction from where the guards and the medic would be expected to come from. . Perception check as she moves down the hall, looking for the secret room. Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

No scrolls on your corpse breeze breeze only one Vial. You do however hear a noise coming from the end of the cell block one the other prisoners arent making. Also the only door out of the block is where the guard and medic will be coming from.

The man looks at Thok and starts praying. You wait a moment moment slap him he begins to cry as Thok licks his neck and makes appreciative sounds. There is a password. I dont know it. Fifty five guards... plus Blackerly, the warden, and three under priests. Walls from outside. I dont know the guard rotations or anything. Please dont let him eat me please....

Breeze heads to the strange noise, not quite knowing what would make such a sound. She moves down the hallway, ignoring the cries of the other prisoners, focused on seeking out the sound her keen hearing picked up.

the noise is coming from a solid wall at the end oath the block. Where you would find find last cell that is as wide as the walkway in between all the other cells.

Oh, you know more than that. You know the password and you know the rotations don't you?

As she says this, she presses the sword a little harder into his neck drawing a bead of blood. She then reaches out with her other hand taking the blood on her finger. She slowly licks the blood from her finger as she continues to stare into the man's eyes attempting to discern any deception.

I certainly hope that you aren't telling the truth. The meals here have been sorely lacking in blood . . . I mean meat.

Breeze moves to where the cell should be and looks over the wall carefully. "Can you hear me back there? I think we are here to bust you out of this place.". She waits for a response as she scans the wall, looking for a weak spot or a keyhole. Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

The wall appears to be a perfectly normal wall. It will take some effort to bring down.

Yzera mind moving you guys back downstairs on the map?

He explains that 10 leads to the kitchen and primary barracks. 14 leads to Blackerly's office, room, and the armoury. And 12 leads to the common block as well as secondary barracks and storage.

Through the ones on the left as we face towards the exit doors. Is Blackerly's office, bedroom, and the armory. The other door on that side leads to the secondary barracks, storage, and the common cell block. The door on the right leads to the mess. From their you can reach the kitchen or the barracks..... please dont each me I see a I dont know anything else.

Yzera growls:
Someone get this worthless thing out of here. I don't care if you toss him in a cell or do something else with him. Now that he smells like a sewer, he probably tastes like one as well.

Assuming Trok or someone takes the man upstairs to the cells.

Yzera then looks at the guard lying at her feet and a frightened look comes across her face.
What happened? What did I do? I see blood, and it is as though a rage takes over. Why? What is happening to me?

Yzera seemed to come out of a daze, or go into one- it wasn't quite clear which. "Pull yourself together," Lauren hissed. "I don't care what it is, so long as you keep it pointed at Blackerly and company. We get out of this, and then you can get all introspective about the new you."

Ilan nods, "A quick death, rather than suffering. Seems a fair trade for information."


Downstairs:

Fitz smiles as he realizes that he's been heard, and drinks the last mouthful of water to help him speak. He drums the stout wood over the bars and says, "Excellent. I am most pleased to hear that. The accommodations here, never stellar, have deteriorated over time."

He starts to look through the bars for a brick with loose mortar, and then finding one, takes a splintered, but stout piece and starts trying to push the brick outward.

He calls out, "This started as a normal, large, cell. This side of the wall leans against the locked iron bars, the stone and mortar literally touching the steel. When they built the wall, they said there was lead mixed in with the mortar to prevent magic from finding me. And, I believe they filled the lock with mortar as well."

Fitz closes his eyes and remembers the strange combination of taunts and fear, with the taunts increasing as the construction progressed and the workers began to realize that he was well and truly trapped... and then the way the taunts stopped when he used his infernal strength to kill one of the masons. The memory causes his mouth to twitch somewhat, as if it cannot decide between a snarl of hatred and defiance or a smile of satisfaction, They said I would be in here forever, begging for death as my empty stomach attacked itself and I became so dry that I'd not be able to open my mouth... But I've still only ever used the razor they threw in before the final stone was placed on my hair... And today, it seems, forever ends..

He begins to laugh as a sense of triumph fills him, and sparks of hope triggered by the strange, edible messenger fan into full flame. He calls out again, "I have naught of metal to work with, and so I've not been able to grind down the brick or mortar... However, while they were once quick to repair the wall if it were damaged, they've not done so...", he pauses as he realizes that other than the last thirty-nine days, he has no concept of time since he stopped counting after twenty years, "...in quite some time."

He shakes his head, I promised them a death for every day I was in here... I shall need to check a calendar to make a full accounting of it..., then returns to the task at hand. "No need to worry about collapsing the wall on me, the bars will prevent that. If it would help, I can tap the stones that look loosest from this side... Mayhap you can feel the vibrations."

Fitz chuckles, "Had I such things, I wouldn't be here waiting for rescue. No, I've the remains of old furniture, three score faded books, and the skeletal remains of some sort of fiendish beast that told me you were coming and to ready myself...." Though, as its flesh was the first food I had in years and let me recover my lost muscle, maybe the bones, too, have their use...

He turns and looks at the rib-cage of the beast, using his foot to pull a curved rib from the spine, and then begins scratching at the older mortar around the stone.

When you arrive in the room you find that it is a stairwell going down. You come to a landing with passages leading in three different directions. Ahead will be storage. To the left the barracks. And down the right the other cells.

[Spoiler=Fitz and such] The rib isnt doing much good but it is doing some. You figure you could work one brick lose in a few days like this.

Upstairs crew as you are debating about which way to go you see two female figures come out of the hall leading to the cells. One of them is a catgirl and has blood covering her forearms.

"Lower your weapons, Lass. I've been expecting you. The little gargoyle like thing said you guys would be heading downstairs to meet us, right before he slid us some lock picks. The other thing he said was that you'd help us break another out of their cell, which apparently has been bricked over but good. Do you have tools that could bring down a wall? Follow me, and I'll show you," the cat adds, if violence seems to be off the table for the time being.

Lauren wasn't exactly sure how they were supposed to break through the wall- unless it was Thok's job. She certainly didn't have that sort of magic available to her. Even evokers weren't usually going to deal with that sort of thing. Still, best to have a look. "Lead on. And I doubt it was everybody. I would hardly expect our entire contingent to be locked up together," she answered.

The Catfolk turns and heads back toward the bricked up cell. "Someone or something is in there. We're back...start tapping the weak looking spots again," she yells to the final member of the team, inside the wall.

Yzera looks at the catlike person and then at the wall:
There are numerous guards in barracks upstairs. If we try to smash this wall, they may well awake.

Lets go up and search the main floor for something to open this wall. Perhaps there is an anvil or hammer or headsman's axe, or something similar. Also, lets make sure there are no sleeping guards to awake who might spring the alarm.

You also notice about thirty other prisoners. None of them have committed branding crimes but they are thieves and rogues all.

Sorry guys had to work tonight and it was just busy enough I couldnt get away to post.


Inside:
Seeing the slowness of his progress, Fitz pauses, and starts assessing the wall, remembering one of the now-useless books he'd read a few dozen times.

Profession (Masonry): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

He shrugs, I'm not sure if the wall is too well made, or I'm just too focussed on finally being out of here to study it properly...

Hearing the others return he smiles and tries to jab the rib in into the stone he'd been working on in a 2-handed grip.

"Start with that one.", he calls out, adding, "I don't suppose any of you have the magic to shred the wall? Or worked as a sapper during the war?"

So what are we doing folks? Remember you have prisoners to recruit from. A supply room and a barracks near by and an armory up stairs. And another barracks and few other things to deal with.
