With the Damhpir giving pointers you just barely get the lock open. When you open the door you see darkness and a pair of glowing red eyes staring out at you. You sense more than see movement then a moment later the chains snap taunt as a tusked face comes into view. Then you hear a pop and one of the chains what past your head as it snaps. The figure falls to its knees as the effort takes all our of it. It looks up at you Help Thok. Thok hungry for food that no make him weak. Thok be friend. As you get a good look at its face you realize it resembles an orc a creature that hasn't been seen on Talengarde proper in quite sometime. However it is very different at the same time.
1d20 ⇒ 11
Roll a know planes anyone....
Yzera Hykeph |
I don't expect Knowledge skills to be where Yzera is going to focus. No Planes here.
Yzera watches the creature. She has heard stories of orcs from her father and others in the north. But, never expected to ever see one.
divineshadow |
Then cat returns and looks up at his mistress.
Note the needle was originally a two handed sword for Korwin but I have changed it to Yzera weapon.
Thok is still struggling with the rest of the chains. You notice as he struggles he most be over seven feet tall and that he is missing an arm at the shoulder. The would seems to be filled with veins of an odd metal that spread onto the skin near his shoulder.
Lauren Tacita |
"Three guards, drunk as monks. I think they're playing cards," Lauren reported to the others. "The needle can draw your blood, turning into a sword. The, uh, curved sort? With lots of points, like on a saw. Look, weapons aren't my area of expertise. You only get a minute per blood sacrifice, though."
Yzera Hykeph |
Yzera looks to Lauren:
A sawtooth sabre, that is an odd weapon. But one I am quite familiar with.
She takes the miniature sword and looks at it noting the sharp serrated edge for the first time.
I wonder if there is any way to simply knock the guards out. I want to escape, but why should all the guards, other than that cretin Blackerly, die. They are simply doing their jobs. A sawtooth sabre is great for disemboweling, not so good for disabling.
Lauren Tacita |
Lauren shook her head. "I'm not sure you quite understand how this works. We agreed to kill everyone who isn't us. There is an exception made for prisoners who join us. Normally I'd be all for cutting a few corners, but we are working with devils, and the eternal fate of our souls is riding on this," she hissed. "Four things we have to do. Accept the help- done. Break free and rescue Thok- done, but we still need to find his arm. Kill everybody who doesn't join us or die trying- that's up next. Fourth- if at all possible, destroy this place. Presumably that's how we manage to kill everybody. Some overly sensitive security feature, perhaps. Finally, we need to ally with somebody called Thorne. He's setting a trap, but we've been promised help. If we fail on any of these points and walk away from it, then the best-case scenario is ritually sacrificing ourselves to a daemon who will slowly and painfully digest our souls over the next century or so. Because centuries are really very short in the grand scheme of things. So if anybody knows anything about the architecture, history, or defenses of the prison, I'm all ears."
Lauren Tacita |
"Let's get started, though. We're not going to get a better opportunity than this. Would you let Thok out?" Lauren asked, keeping an eye on the door. "Strike while the iron is hot."
divineshadow |
The chains fall away quite easily. Thok stand up to his seven and a half foot height and stretches. He reaches down and grabs a chain wrapping it around his good arm with a few feet and a shackle handing free. He steps out into the light and you can see his emerald skin is covered in hundreds of scars. He looks around. And smiles. Thok new friends help find food now? Thok hungry. He stop eating sick food few days ago.
Understudy |
Ilan suggests, "If there are only three, and they're drunk, I think the daggers solve our problems pretty well. Assuming I can get close, I can kill two pretty quickly.... and I think there's more than a few shadows in there that'd let me close in pretty well. It's the third one that'll make things rough for us." The ninja smiles, "Unless he's passed out, of course."
Yzera Hykeph |
Yzera looks at the others before taking the miniature blade in her hand.
So, if I draw my own blood with this, it will grow into a full sized serrated sword?
If this is true, I rather doubt that I will need one of the daggers. A sawtooth sabre should make short work of several drunk guards.
Lauren Tacita |
"Assuming the veil holds the materials I need, I might be able to take them all out with a single spell. It's risky, though, since magic is hard to work in here," Lauren said.
Yzera Hykeph |
If there are three drunk guards and you can only cast a few spells, then hold your spells. I assume there will be more not drunk guards somewhere that would like your spells better.
Yzera looks over at Ilan:
Lets sneak in and take them down.
She then looks to Trok and the anti-paladin: You charge the second you hear us attack. We don't give them time to react or shout a warning.

Here is the map of the upper level. I have not added the avatars yet, need to download/import them.
If everyone could PM me their email addresses, I would appreciate it. I prefer to limit access to these files to specific people as I am unsure of copyright issues but am pretty sure that limiting them in this way is fine.

I just noticed your race/class line nice lol
You 've the cell block door open without them hearing you. One is s!%+ting with his back to you. A not is across from him. And the third is now standing at the head of the table. They are bickering about one of them cheating apparently. A signal horn hangs on the wall behind the one sitting facing you. It is within easy reach.
divineshadow |
Perception time. 3d20 ⇒ (20, 20, 3) = 43
Two of them see you going for the horn. Thankfully not the one near the horn itself. They pull iron and yell for the other guard to get up. Danbury you useless sod get up we have an escapee.
You are in the room besode the one across from the door. You 've one standard action.
Yzera Hykeph |
Preliminary action:
Before our ninja stealthily stomped into the room, Yzera took out the toy sword and poked herself in the arm, drawing a small amount of blood and hopefully causing the sabre to grow.
Surprise Round
Do we all get a single standard/move action?
Understudy |
Ach. Nice rolls. Also, side note, 18 dex and no finesse? eeek.
Ilan steps forward and cuts the throat of the guard still seated, then calls out into the hall, "They aren't as drunk as we hoped."
Dagger: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 Threat
Confirm: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 Not sure, but should be against FF, since not acted yet.
Normal Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 1 + (6) = 11 plus, hopefully Critical: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
divineshadow |
Yeah sorry what can I say dice rolls hates ninjas?
Yes the needle sized sword grows to full size.
Yezra you do but thats it everyone else was to wait til you two had struck was how I understood the plan.
Understudy you drop the guard nearest the horn.
Please roll initiative.
Guards 2d20 ⇒ (3, 17) = 20
Thok 1d20 ⇒ 17
Yzera Hykeph |
Didn't realize we were moving forward that fast. I would have poked my finger right before our ninja snuck into the room. Oh well.
Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Yzera silently charges in from the back, now that the guards are watching the front.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 <-- she swings, she misses badly
[ooc]I probably go after one of the guards. I will attack the one that has not yet moved.
divineshadow |
You did. I knew that was going to be a prep thing. And figured you were blocking the door. So that can be the swing you took in the surprise rd. I was just asking for initiative as a matter of course. Also the one that hadn't moved is dead understudy criticaled him.
So Initiative looks like.
Thok
guards
you two
Lauren who will be watching the stairs cause I dont think these guys will last all that long.
1d20 ⇒ 16 1d6 ⇒ 6
Thok steps by you wrapping his chain around the neck of the guard you missed and using it to start a choke.
Guard in grapple. AoO 1d20 ⇒ 6 escape grapple 1d20 ⇒ 2 pfft
The guard struggles weak as Thok begins choking the life from him after a vicious blow to the neck with the chains they coiled him in.
1d20 ⇒ 11
The other guard begins to yell and swings at understudy. However his all has left him unsure of his footing and he stumbles just a bit moving in and misses.
Yzera Hykeph |
Hoping that Thok of the Chain can handle the first guard, Yzera moves toward the other to help understudy.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 <-- is this weapon masterwork? silver? or anything else?
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Yzera still finds the strange blade to be slightly off weight and difficult to wield resulting in another blow well wide of its mark.
