The more pertinent question is which necromancy spells are actually evil in and of themselves? Looking at it from my character's point of view he knows quite a few good aligned wizards who have some necromancy spells in their spell books. But that neither makes them evil nor puts their alignment at risk when they cast those spells. However, Flandrion doesn't know anybody in Kyonin who actually specializes in necromancy.
Then Hailey presents us with a character who is saying that they can be neutral while channeling negative divine energy and specializing in necromancy. Flandrion would be skeptical at best. His argument would be something to the effect that those who sleep with enough dogs are eventually going to get fleas. However, if Hailey isn't actually crossing "the line" then it's not worth getting upset over. The question is who/what actually determines just what "the line" is?
When I get the chance I'm going to go through the rules a lot more carefully. IIRC I saw wording somewhere that actually animating dead was an inherently evil act. But I don't remember where I saw it or if it even applied to this game system. Regardless, I think that as long as Hailey refrains from doing anything that is actually inherently evil in and of itself then we can all get along. But we all need to know where "the line" is so we can all either keep each other honest and/or get seriously confrontational if necessary.

Spells tagged [Evil] are actually evil. Everything else is not. Channeling Negative Energy isn't evil. It's entropic, but entropy is not evil.
Prior to 3rd edition Cure Light Wounds was a necromancy spell. There's plenty of room for non-evil necromancy, and I think that's the point Hailey (and to a lesser extent) bendalis are interested in exploring.

My reasons and justifications for playing Hailey are listed in detail on page 12 of this discussion thread.
Yes, I'm a fan of Hailey. Debuffer/blaster is an interesting role, and it fits her nicely.
I did mean to ask if you were going into theurge at some point or if the cleric start was just a dip for (very nice) things like channeling. My next few levels are going to be wizard to try and qualify for Eldritch Knight by 7.
Incidentally if you want to avoid patching up the rabble. Remember False Life is Necromancy, and strictly superior to CLW for any number of reasons not least of which is the delicious flavor. The image of hailey keeping a bit of enemy A around as ectoplasm so he gets punched in the face One Last Time seems believable, and it even feels like a joke she might pull on any of the boys. Here! Wear this totally not a flesh sack made from heart tissue, it will keep you safe! Yes it's going to burst when you get hit, better it than you! You can wash up afterwards. No, I don't have one that's cleaner, that wouldn't work at all.
Anyways, she's fantastic.

Yes, she means to be a Mystic Theurge. She'll never reach level 9 magic, but she'll have more than enough spells to become the hierophant of her own church of Nethys. Oh, can't you just imagine it?
Especially if she finds what she's looking for and gives them to her church (or to her alternate, their allies in the Dark Archive.)
Being a priestess of Nethys also gives her a useful cloak to hide her wizardry training behind. The people of Utsalav fear arcane casters, but being a priestess, especially if she has more than one level in it (which she will) gives her an excellent deflector shield to fend off suspicion and fear as long as she's careful.
And thank you for the False Life idea.

@ Browman: Just tidied up Draalûsh's profile a touch. Noticed I had typed in a couple of stats wrong. Should be all fixed now if you want to have a look to double check it when you get a moment.
Sorry again for the tardiness in posting in the gameplay section. Hope the entrance works for the timing. Seemed appropriate for Half-Orc whose patience was running a bit thin.

If your half-orc still follows Nethys, he and Hailey are going to get along just fine. :)
By the way, if anyone cares, I found her favorite song (though it may need a lyrics change as it mentions movie, which doesn't exist yet.) It's a delightful little song called Spooky. Just listen to the ending.
"Just like a ghost, you've been hauntin' my dreams, so I'll propose . . . on Halloween. Love is kind of crazy with a spooky little girl like you."

Hey guys, I apologize in advance, but I'm stepping out of the game. I'm not having much fun, neither I think the character fits too well, so like I said - I'm sorry to say I'm leaving. I hope I didn't waste anyone's time and I hope we get the chance to play in other games together.
@Browman, thanks for the consideration, my friend, and a personal "sorry" for leaving so soon.

Hailey: We are holding up, thank you. It was a very busy week with her family, and very mixed emotions. Her little brother graduated high school while we were there, so we had all that to attend to, and her grandmother came home on hospice last wed, but she is still holding on somehow. I am back home now for school and work, but she had to stay, so that makes a bad situation even worse..

My thoughts are with you and her family Garekk.
On a side note, I will be out of town visiting family starting tomorrow after work, so from Wednesday to next Sunday I will be unable to make any posts. Keep me on auto-pilot :)

I really hope this game doesn't stop. One doesn't get a chance to play a character like Hailey very often, or to meet a great bunch of blokes like Swift-Palm and Garekk. To the others, I mean no slight; I simply don't know the rest of you well enough to evaluate yet.

Browman is still active as of this thursday so I'm guessing it's just his phone being unable to post derailed him. Hopefully RL sorts itself, and in the meantime we can be patient. Worst case we have to recruit a GM?

I agree with Hailey.. I really like the story that Browman has been leading us on, and I REALLY hope that all is well with him. *Garekk tousles the little gnomes hair affectionately* "Much my same sentiments, little one."

Bendalis reminded me that I have not upheld my assigned duties, so here we are. This is the combined total of everything that the party threw into the pot, and the items that we purchased with the gold. This is also updated to reflect the gold we found in the necromancers lair, and the money that Hailey and I spent when we leveled. Browman, would you mind attaching this to the main tab with the recap?
50 ft Hemp Rope- 3, 50 ft silk rope- 1, Grappling Hook- 2, 10 ft Pole, Bull's Eye Lantern, regular lantern, Tent, Mule, Saddle Bag, Flint/Steel, Feed (10 days), Trail Rations (80), hammer and chisels, torches (10), wagon, 8 flasks oil, chalk, pitons (10), Caltrops, healers kit- 2,
410 gp 7 sp 17 cp
If any of the new people would like to contribute anything, it would be great, but not necessary, unless you can see anything that we missed.
Also, just a random thought, whatever happened to the psuedodragon that we encountered? I thought it was pretty cool and was hoping it would hang around.
Between them they have a +1 strength composite longbow with 20 arrows, a battle axe, a pair of hand-axes, a light crossbow with 15 bolts, a short sword, a longspear, 2 Javelins, 3 sets of studded leather, 2 bucklers.
They also indicate where in the mill the have stashed what items they have stolen. In the stash you find a bundle of treated animal skins, a small cask of beer and 1 gold piece, 14 silver pieces and 187 copper pieces.

** spoiler omitted **
I added the list to the campaign tab.
To be completely honest I forgot about Kelsaru when things slowed down a lot at the start of entering the necromancer's fortress. Once I remembered about him it didn't really make sense to bring him back. He probably left with Calistria as they seemed to get along, but who knows he may show up again.
| Draalûsh |
@ Browman:
I just realized I forgot to add an extra skill point per level for Draalûsh (I prefer extra skills over HP as a matter of course). I've updated his profile numbers for that. I tacked on one skill point each in two key skills he's not used yet: Bluff (now +8) and Spellcraft (now +6).
Thanks.

Yeah I was mostly staying sidelined because I wasn't there. Well done team.

I've been hijacked for family duties this weekend, so my posting may suffer. Checking in on the phone as we drive to the beach.

Anything special you want us to do about hailey/bendalis sharing spellbooks browman?
Hailey Besh

Bendalis, I forgot to ask what spells are in your spellbook so I'll know which spells to add to Hailey's book?
The spells in Hailey's book are:
0) Resistance (a), Acid Splash (c,) Detect Magic, Detect Poison, Read Magic (d), Daze (en), Dancing Lights, Flare, Light, Ray of Frost (ev), Ghost sound (il), Bleed, Disrupt Undead, Touch of Fatigue (n), Mage Hand, Mending, Message, Open/Close (t), Arcane Mark, Prestidigitation (u).
1) Cause Fear, Chill Touch, Ray of Enfeeblement (n), Shield (a), Charm Person, Sleep (en).
2) Blindness/Deafness, Command Undead, False Life, Ghoul Touch, Scare, Spectral Hand (n).
This way we'll both know how many spells we actually have and how much it'll cost us to add to the books.
