Description
Hailey has purple eyes and lavender hair, which goes well with her mauve skin. She wears a dark purple robe and a lavender cloak, which covers her almost completely, letting only her face and her hair be revealed.

Personality
Hailey is a neutral in moral matters, obsessed with magic. She almost became a wizard, but decided to devote herself more to Nethys, the god of magic, than she did to the purity of the arcane arts.

In matters that have to do with wizardry, she is relentless and dogged in her quest for knowledge.

But in matters that involve dealing with other people who aren't interested in the kind of education she is, Hailey tends to be unmoved. She believes that personal willpower, discipline, and strength are what set people apart from the common rabble, and doesn't care to waste her time being a tender to the common rabble. She can offer you a little aid if you prove yourself in her eyes, but for the most part, she borders just a touch on the dark side, preferring to use darkness against darkness.

Now that she's got Alice, her cat familiar, she's got a lifelong companion to whom she'll speak to more often than anyone else.

Background
Hailey was just an innocent young gnome who wandered around with her family, until the day she got lost. She never knew what happened after that, because, in getting lost, she got kidnapped.

She never knew who kidnapped her, really, or why they did it to her. All she knows is that while she was a captive, she began to cry out and scream for help when they left her alone.

At first, she thought nobody heard her. But then, she doesn't know how, in her dreams, she had a vision. In her dreams, something came to her, telling her that if she recited the words on a piece of paper, she would be saved.

When she awoke, she saw a paper by her bed, and so she read it aloud. It turned out, now, she understands, to be a summon monster spell. She used it, and the monster led her away from her kidnappers.

The monster then continued to lead her until she collapsed, exhausted, in the courtyard of a church of Nethys. A nun took her in and from that day, she has always belonged to Nethys, convinced that it was he who saved her.

Only time will tell.

The church of Nethys has become convinced that there are still traces of power from the necromancy school, and great magical items and artifacts containing that power, buried within Ustalav.
Being unconcerned by moral debate but fascinated by arcane magic, both black and white, the priesthood has become certain that to reclaim this power, but bringing it to the safety of Nethys, where the power can be studied, protected, and understood - but not used, would bring great glory and pleasure to Nethys himself.
So, because she fancies the darkness and the negative side - without being ruled by it or caught up in it, they sent Hailey to investigate and report. If she finds magic from the old time of the undead, and reports it, or better yet, returns it to her church, splendid!
If she multiclasses (much later on) as a necromancer wizard or sorceress, that would also probably please her church, perhaps even her god. . . And now that she has, she feels even closer to Nethys than ever.
After all, according to the Pathfinder Wiki website, Nethys was driven mad. Why should his priestess not be mildly mad likewise, since she tries so hard to emulate her god?
They sent her alone because a wandering priestess, especially of a god who is not generally objected to by most faiths, is less likely to be attacked than most other classes. Most adventuring parties have a welcome place for a priest, expecting her to serve as a back-up healer. What a surprise that Hailey can do that, but would rather inflict wounds than heal them . . .
Since one must choose a faction, she joined the Dark Archive because she believes that only they, and of course, Nethys and his priesthood, can safely handle and control the artifacts and great magics from ages past.
