Male Hairy Highlander Halfbreed (ThirdSwede) Barbarian 9/King O' The North 5/Staffy Dad 7

Heheh. Does indeed..

If I'm going water can I rebuild Glom-Glom as a Barbarian/Cleric of Zogmugot (will focus on Demon and Flotsam domains?)

I'm fine with that, if you want to make the change. I think he is fine mechanically as is but if it helps you get into the "role", change away.

I want to apologize in advance that my access will be spotty through the 4th of January. Basically my family is having some issues that require more attention than anticipated and additional issues of illness add to the complication. I'm sorry that I have been so out of it the last couple of weeks, basically it boils down to my son having some issues (He is 5 and on the barest cusp of being "special needs") that require us to be home more over the holidays, which makes it har to log on and be present. Things are inching along but I wanted to keep folks in the loop.

As I said in other game Devon - RL and family come first... Us crazies will keep until your decks are cleared.

Happy New Year when it comes :)

I have a rank in Craft (Woodworking) from my time served on a ship. How many Nat 20's in a row would I have to roll to carve a key out of a piece of a tree?

FASCINATING.

I would basically boil it down to 4 for the woodworking but would need one solid wis check, one solid int and one very solid dex check...

Wisdom check is to find something to sharpen the knives or use what you have to sharpen a knife...all of your are pretty dull at the moment.

Nats 20s to the wood:
One for the wood (finding a suitable piece)
One for the shape (cutting it to approximate size)
One for the detail (approximating good tooth width and needed size)
Once for the finish (actually getting)

Int check allows for step 3 above (examining the door and being able to approximate the key it needs would be no small feat but based on Shattertooth's observations the locks aren't THAT sophisticated...)

Dex check is to apply said key to the lock. Abject failure would snap the key and leave chunks in the door (Nat 1)

I would allow an Int check an hour...lets say DC 20, assists allowed.

With that in hand I would say you could expect each woodworking step to take approx 3 hours at taking 20. I would allow taking 20 to basically negate the critical failure aspect (snapping or ruining the wood) at the cost of time. You could start chukcing dice to see if you could get there faster by nat 1s ruin the key cutting. So 12 hours to cut a key assuming you can make the other checks or how long those checks take you...

Hilarious...also very very wrong Choon ;p

Scarab Sages

You stressed creative solutions, yes? ;)

Folks

Just a heads up that I’ll be heading over to Dubai from tomorrow for 6 days. Will visiting with family and friends, and promises we’ll be on a tight itinerary. As such am not sure how oft a chance I’ll get to post - so presume it’ll be on the minimal end.

Please bot Glom-Glom while I’m away so I don’t hold up the action. I’m back late Tuesday 16th, so it’ll likely be Wed week afore I’m back in the saddle proper.

Here's hoping my wee feral will be in one piece (and not several) when I get back! ;)

Cheers

BD

Is the sword considered a rapier for the purposes of Weapon Finesse / Focus? I assume certainly not for Piercing Grace since a long sword is more of a Slashing weapon, but I figured I'd ask about the others.

If it was important it be a rapier, it'll come out a rapier. It responds to what Zika wanted so...

I want to apologize for my absence I came down with some hellish virus thing and was hospitalized on Monday. I was recently released and am trying to get back on my feet. I hope to have updates to all my games by tonight or tomorrow morning by the latest.

Oh man that sucks - hope you're feeling better!

So...I'm wondering about packing this one in. It was a weird concept and maybe PbP isn't the best venue. It seems hard for folks to post and keep momentum and I have to assume that part of it is the setting as many of us play together in other games or are otherwise active on the boards...so...sound off. Should we maybe just let this idea retire?

Male Ratfolk Unchained Rogue(Escapologist)/2 -- Alchemist(Plague Bringer)/2 -- (HP: 18/18; AC14; FF11; T14; F+4, R+6, W+1; Perc: +8, Init +3)

It is an interesting concept. One problem for me is that I started a new job last fall which took away my ability to spend time during the day. I think that on a table top where we could all chat back and forth, it would be fun. I love some of the characters, but the posting rate is definitely slow, which makes it much harder for me to keep up with what is going on with the game.

I am good with keeping going, but if you want to pack it up, I understand with the current intermittent posting rate.

I agree that this would work much better in person. As a pbp it lacks that certain something that comes from actual, verbal description and conversation.

I am finding it hard to maintain a healthy interest in the goings on of this one, honestly.

Male Goblin "The Wild Maw of Venk-Zar-Zog": Unchained Barbarian (Feral Gnasher)/Druid (Feral Shifter) Gestalt 2 | HP 28/28 | AC 14/T14/FF11 | F+4, R+3, W+5 | Perc +7, Dark Vision 60ft., Scent 1/day | Init +3 | Move: 30ft.

It is a weird one - much easier to often "get in the groove" for a more conventional game after a day at work.

Round table think this one would absolutely rock - dynamics are very fun and interesting, but its been more of a story telling game than active pbp (in the most positive way).

I'll be sorry to see Glom-Glom and Co go... but I reckon they've run their course?

I think part of the problem is the nature of what we are as characters, not innately being the type to be very interested in exploring things, or unraveling mysteries, or in some cases having the mental capacity to be adept at it.

I've been very much enjoying it and would prefer not to see it go, but I will admit that it has sometimes been more difficult than I'm accustomed to to balance between "What the character would do" and "What moves things forward".

Ya. These characters are more slapstick hijinx than mystery investigation.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah I think I need to tuck this one back in the "big book of ideas". I run other games with most of you and would rather I can make those flourish and for Yorick...well...one day we will game again, lol ;p

I appreciate you guys willing to have an honest convo about it. For no I will mark this one as inactive. I'll see you elsewhere.

Ditto - loved it. Very ambitious concept Devon, I tip my hat you all for the very memorable and very different characters.

Glom-Glom whines plaintively as he will no longer be able to torment Zika Speaks-To-Birds, Hob-a-gob or Ratty-Rat-Rat.

Thanks one and all for putting up with my feral wee $hite of a goblin :)
