I could try to get some information by the locals, how do they feel.. But Kendra told us already that they are afraid. Trouble is, people who are afraid are prompt to point fingers, or to get angry. I propose we walk into the town, trying to get as friendly as possible. I'd like to check on the place where the meeting will be, too.If a big brawl starts, I want to know how I can escape.. sorry, how I can help innocent people to get out quickly.

Kendra addresses Professor Rokannon,
"I'm not sure what to expect, according to the MAyor they're going to take the time to discusss possible solutions to all the madness thats been going on lately. But I don't know what those solutions might be, or if they really have any to offer at all."
I notice the game tends to stall if I don't post frequently. If you all rather I be more direct with pushing the story along just let me know, otherwise I tend to let the players control the flow of the game.
Tamarie Lialda |
I think PBP needs a "pushy" DM, and this adventure even more so. It's all about mystery and your own 'tempo' but tabletop and pbp is something different.
As for me: Tamarie is doing what fits her character: not talking about the crazy dream :)
Davor Wolfriel |
Feel free to push things along as frequently as possible. I'd rather throw in a retroactive "I wanted to do this before we went there" than wait around while nobody posts because nobody knows what to do next.
"I'm starting to feel cooped up in this house, nice as it is," Davor admits. "I'm ready to get out of here and let the sheriff know what we found at Gibs' house, even if he'll probably use it as evidence that we're to blame for all the strange things going on around here."
Prof. Faradir Rokannon |
Professor Rokannon flinches a little at the thought of dealing with the townsfolk.
"Ahem. Well I have to say you will likely do better without my presence. I will stay here at Lorrimor House and do what research I can before the meeting."
Ellix |
Later that night as evening falls, the people of town begin gathering for the meeting.
Many of them share frightful stories of things watching them at the foot of their beds at night. Others speak of bloody walls, or possessed animals.
After a minute or two a woman approaches the group who you recognize as one of the council women of the town, Ms.Faradan.
She asks that you all follow her to a back room of the hall.
Once inside you can see the other two council members along with Mayor Hearthmount. When he notices you all he seems to stiffen before addressing the party,
"Okay now, listen here I'm going to be honest with you folks. I am about to go out in front of these people and make claims that I'm doing everything possible to solve the situation here in Ravengro."
"But the truth is, I've no idea where to even begin. I've sent for a request for aid to all neighboring villages, but I doubt they'll be eager to respond. Our reputation proceeds us I'm afraid."
The mayor gives a heavy sigh before continuing.
"Now I'm not convinced that this isn't at the end of the day all you and Lorrimor's fault. But, after the incident at the well, you appear to be the only ones capable of helping us too."
"I'm not expecting outsiders to come to our rescue, but when I walk out to that podium and say I'm using every resource available to me, I want to mean it. So I'm asking you if you'll agree to assist us in fending off this evil that has befallen us."

Prof. Faradir Rokannon |
Professor Rokannon smoked his pipe as he concentrated on listening to the Mayor.
"Well, I'm not sure that I understand. Could you explain what you mean by 'situation' and the 'evil that has befallen us'?" He said slowly.
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Ellix |
The mayor responds to the professor,
"The evil has always been here, and it sits in plain view at the top of the hill."
He suddenly grows visibly agitated.
"And the "situation" all started when that damned Lorrimor couldn't leave the place well enough alone, it got him killed and now we're paying the price for it. The fountain, the monument, all the complaints around town I get every day - and they're getting more frequent! And now these blasted night terrors!"
"Your beloved professor woke something within those walls, you mark my words."

So maybe we can try to make whatever the Professor awoke rest... in.. peace?
Vivian looks at the townfolks and steps forward
As your mayor said earlier, we are outsiders. We were friends or acquaintances of the late Professor Lorrimor. I'm sure he would have done his best to put to rest whatever "lives" into the prison atop the hill.Because he was an amiable and responsable man, and he cared for the well being of his friends, neighbours and family. Remember his only child lives within the town too. Would he had put her at risk willingly? I don't think so. We will do our best to do what he can't do anymore. But we need you to trust us, to stay as calm as possible, even with the recent troublesome and eerie moments we all lived through
The redhead pauses
So we ask you, people of Ravengro, Mayor Heartmount, the permission to investigate the prison. If you know anything that could be helpful in this task, please tell us.Help us helping you. You have lived here longer than us,you know your town, its history, better than us. We are willing to take some risks, but we want to get into the Prison prepared, so we don't fall victim to it. It's in your best interest, because we don't want to fail you.
Tamarie Lialda |
Tamarie slams her hand on the table, obviously bored of all this diplomacy.
"Point us in the right direction, and we'll figure it out as we go. I'm sick of trying to find things out, I just want to fix this s&@!!"
Davor Wolfriel |
"I agree," Davor offers after Tamarie's outburst. "Sitting around doing nothing isn't going to make things improve. Professor Lorrimor wasn't just poking around the prison for thrill of it or to make things worse."
Prof. Faradir Rokannon |
Professor Rokannon tightened his grip on his staff at the unwarrented slander of Professor Lorrimor's good name. He tried to tell himself that the people here were only frightened.
He nodded agreement with Davor's words, but didn't speak himself. He was well aware of his limitations in the field of public speaking.
