Tamarie is correct, the Knowledge check could only be made trained in this instance.
Professor Rokannon, nothing in your studies matches this... thing... to any reliable degree. The best you can conclude is that this is very likely some manner of Aberration, possibly from the Dark Tapestry.

Tamarie, your arrow strikes true, but the flesh of the creature seems oddly unresponsive to the trauma, the arrow passing completely through while leaving little trace of it's passage.
It is not an animal; however, give me a CMB check please.

Davor, the creature is too small & quick for your attack, skittering outside your blow as it begins to glow with an eldrich effulgence. An effulgence which sputters & dies.

Thanks to the severely aberrant nature of the creature, combined with what you suspect to be it's as-yet-incomplete maturation; Tamarie's arrow, while passing clear through, succeeded in dragging it a pace back. Tamarie; you are aiding to improve Davor's AC in addition to flanking the creature?

Compelled by his own resolve & righteousness, Davor's swing proves true; as unfortunately does his pronouncement regarding mundane weapons likely effectiveness for the three of you clearly see the head of his weapon sink disquietingly into the spongy flesh of the creature, only for that same flesh to re-fill once the trauma was removed. Professor, your staff flies well over the mass of the creature, striking neither it, nor your companions fortunately. It does however draw the creature's attention directly to you as it utters a revolting string of syllables in reaction before once more becoming limned in an eldritch glow, this time beginning to levitate out of Davor & Tamarie's reach before uttering another glottal tone, one who's effects you recognize as a gobbet of pungent acid manifests to hurdle towards you.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but since I used Judgement (Smiting), my weapons should now count as magic for the purposes of bypassing DR for the remainder of this combat. From your post, it appears magic weapons don't bypass this creature's DR, but I wanted to double-check before I give up hope. Also, if I were to give my weapons to my companions, would the benefit from the judgement remain in effect?

On the second part, the answer is no, unless BG changes it. The Judgement is a personal effect that can be changed as a swift action every turn. If it is determined that the magical weapon effect doesn't beat the DR; to hit, AC, Saves, or DR of your own are all viable options.

Yes, I am fine with ignoring your archery post, Davor.

Though the Professor's Cantrip flies harmlessly off into the darkness, Davor's heroic effort results in a punishing slash, catching the creature on the downward arc of his leap. Tearing into the side of the tiny beast, Davor's blade provides an eruption of gory ichor, eliciting a squeal of pain; followed by the creature's further elevation from the cobblestones & yet more unhallowed, eldrich incantations, resulting in a peculiar visual distortion shifting about it.

A favorite display at halfling midsummer festivals, this spell lets you create fireworks in the shape of tiny dragons. Once per round, as a move action, you may designate a target 5-foot-square within range and launch a pyrotechnic in that direction. The pyrotechnic takes a zigzag path from you to that square, always missing creatures and objects in its path, and detonates in that square with a bang and a colorful burst of fire and light. Creatures in the target square take 1d4 points of fire damage and are dazzled for 1 round (Reflex half, a successful save negates the dazzled condition). Normally when this spell is used as part of a festival, the chosen target is high in the sky to increase visibility and protect observers.

Combat is over. The bad news is that you do not have complete physical evidence of what just happened & may have to do some explaining to avoid murder charges. The good news is a) you saved the little girl, b) he's got no next-of-kin to complain if you 'acquire' any of his possessions, and finally, you all defeated a CR 4 nasty at level 1 so comparatively lots of XP all 'round.
