"Of course I'll live!" brother Rufio interjects, an undercurrent of embarrassment leavening his aggravation as he covers up what, at further examination reveals to be a comparatively minor bite wound notable only for an inflammation indicative of possible toxin or infection. "I was simply...
surprised..."
Nodding in acknowledgment of his own lack of caution as he accepts the last placement, he follows the rest of you into the hallway & down the stairs.

Professor Rokannon, I'm assuming you continue to cast Dancing Lights as necessary to illuminate the Crypt?

GM's Rolls:

Continuing down the stairs, you come to a third & likely final chamber about ten feet below the level of the previous two. It is also a long rectangle, about forty-six feet in width by sixteen feet in length. A dais about half a foot in height rises above the floor taking up the central two-thirds of the North wall opposite you. The first & only sarcophagus you have yet seen within this structure rests against the Center North wall. Upon examination it becomes readily apparent that the sarcophagus is without bar or hindrance, only the weight of the carved granite lintel concealing it's contents.
Strength DC 10:
Within the sarcophagus you find a bundle of 29 arrows, four small rods, six lead-stoppered flasks & seven wax-stoppered flasks (two with blue bindings & five with white), three scrolls and a thin wooden case inscribed with an image of a scarab with a single eye glaring from it's back.

Now that you have direct evidence they were here, you do notice signs of the centipede's presence, but noting to indicate there are more than you have already encountered.

"Hrmm? Oh!" Brother Rufio replies, obviously still a bit surprised to find evidence that this entire structure may well be little more than a weapon's cache... "Well, yes. Just let me make note of what is here..."
As he looks though the items, he opens the wooden case, revealing it's velvet-lined contents. A wooden board with the Taldane alphabet & several common words inscribed on one side, a brass broach-like object with felt 'feet' & a large opening in the center, and four iron & glass sealed vials, each containing vapors which churn independently of any external force. Looking more closely, you realize the case had indentations for six other such vials.

"Oh?" Brother Rufio responds. "Where?"

Professor Rokannon:
Assuming you maintain your concentration as you look about, you note that the brass object, the seven wax-stoppered vials, the three scrolls & thirteen arrows all possess auras as well.
Further, you suspect the vials you examined closely are intended to harm certain types of ethereal undead manifestations.

Professor Rokannon:
The first thing you notice, once you look more closely at the arrows, is that all of them which did not have a dweomer had heads crafted of silver. The second, was that ten of the dweomered shafts seemed merely enhanced for sharpness & balance while the other seven possessed far stronger enchantments; though of what manner, you cannot determine: save that two posses different, possibly stronger still enchantments.

Tamarie's Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Professor Rokannon's mention of the board draws your attention back to it & you recognize it as a kind of 'entertainment', requiring two or more people. Using the board & a device called a Planchette it supposedly is possible to contact the spirits of the deceased. Much like the use of a Harrow deck to play 'Towers', opinions as to the 'harmlessness' of the game vary.

AC 17 - Tch 14 - Ff 13 || HP 12 || Fort/Refl/Will +4/+6/+3 || CMD 16 || Perception +6/+8 (Low-light vision)

"Professor, that board is for a game. You require a device called a "planchette" in order for it to contact the deceased. It's harmless, people say. Wouldn't be surprised if it is nothing magical at all."

"These have a stronger enchantment, but I cannot tell what just yet."
He points out another two arrows.
"And these are even stronger. I will need time to properly identify them."

Professor Rokannon:
The brass item is definitely enchanted. Unfortunately beyond determining it possesses a moderate aura of Divination magic, there is little you can determine with certainty of it's utility. With Tamarie's reminder, you do however recall that much like a Harrow deck, a board such as this & a Planchette may also be used as focal devices for certain Divinatory magics which are aided by such things. I.E.; Augury & similar.
Further, as you examine the object closely, you notice the arrangement of the felt feet would allow it to slide easily over the surface of the board & the center opening is just enough larger than the letters of the alphabet on the board & the words and numbers that individual words or letters or numbers would be distinctly visible.
You feel reasonably confident, between the fact that both the board & the object were obviously placed in a case built to hold each of them & what you have been able to determine of the object's enchantment, this is likely a Planchette. It might even function independently, without requiring casting Augury or something similar.

Davor:
Everything Professor Rokannon said about the items seems to be accurate, at least to the degree you can determine. You aren't even certain the arrows he says are enchanted, are.

Tamarie:
While you are unable to confirmwhether or not the arrows are in fact enchanted, they definitely are well made. It almost seems a shame to destroy them by using them.
Almost.

"As sister Vivian has pointed out," brother Rufio reminds the rest of you as he makes his way to the door & towards the outside, indicating that you should bring the items as you accompany him. "There is little reason to stay down here. Seems there is little else to look for." At Davor's comment, Rufio replies. "I would suspect he thought if you needed to be told what they did, you weren't quite ready to use them without...
supervision, perhaps?"

Only Zander & Davor actually saw the stone to read it. When everyone else looked, for that matter, when Davor & Zander looked a second time, the stone didn't say that anymore.
Some of the events of the AP, particularly this portion, work...
less well in a PbP that they would if we were all sitting at the same table. In retrospect, I should have labelled the original Spoiler 'Zander Only' & included that when you looked at it a second time, the gravestone didn't say that. I apologize. Mood/Atmosphere is a key aspect of this AP, possibly more than any of the others & in order to maintain flow while at the same time keep the atmosphere, I sometimes trip up. Mea Culpa.

As you all continue down the hill, out of the Restlands & through Ravengro, you notice a slight warming of the inhabitants toward you. Not really friendly, but certainly not as generally suspicious as the previous few days. You note a group of children playing in the town square as you pass, their mothers looking on with no more than expected maternal concern. Yesterday they might very well have hustled them all inside at your approach. Passing by, you can hear the children singing a song as they play.

"A szervezetet az ágyon."
"Vegyünk egy kést, és lelógó fejét."
"Nézze meg a vér jön ki a csövet."
"Adagolja a madár, így szép és érett."
"Csepp piros, így csillogó fényes."
"A betűk nevét csak jobb."
"Kalapáccsal ölte meg a feleségét."
"Most azt akarja, hogy azt állítják, az élet."
"Takaros apja hazudik."
"Figyelj közel vagy meg fogsz halni."

Finally, arriving back at the Lorrimor house, you see Kendra sitting on the front stoop talking with Lereia, the young girl from last night.

Varisian:
Put the body on the bed.
"Take a knife and lop her head."
"Watch the blood come out the pipe."
"Feeds the stirge, so nice and ripe."
"Drops of red so sparkly bright."
"Splatters spell her name just right."
"With a hammer killed his wife."
"Now he wants to claim your life."
"Tricksy father tells a lie."
"Listen close or you will die."
