Though I can say, unbeknownst to you, you have somewhat done Norgorber a favour by wiping that cult out. Somewhat. I'll see if I can find a way to reveal why, after finding Xanesha. I don't think Janis would know. It's Skinsaw related, and Janis is affiliated with a different sect. (Which I forget, was it Gray Master [thief, money], or Reaper of Reputation [nobility, secrets])?

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

Gray master

DM TreasureFox |

Right. Unfortunately things didn't really go in that direction, but oh well. I had opened up too many avenues to finding the mill already, and I'm satisfied with the choice to work with the Honour Guard. It could have been interesting to see everyone end up working alongside the Gray Master cult, but it's much less likely.
I had several ideas for how to get you guys to the mill. The book assumes that the PCs investigate the entirety of the Foxglove townhouse (which doesn't get set on fire in the book, it's just a fight with the two impostors), then succeed on something like a DC35 perception check to find the hidden cache that outlines the mill as a location for the Brotherhood of the Seven, which is a 'cult' of rich noblemen, semi secret. It's used as a front for the Skinsaw cult. Instead of infiltrating the mill and finding noblemen, they find murderous millworkers who end up being skinsaw cultists. I decided to scrap the Brotherhood completely once the townhouse burnt down, and really play up Ironbriar as a suspicious fellow.
Depending on Andreste's next linguistics check, I'm expecting Xanesha's location to be fully revealed either in the evening of the 3rd, or the 4th of Neth. Today is technically the 3rd, at like 2am ish. I want to make sure we either have Cleo back by then, or have a dedicated healer in the group, whether played by John (most hopefully) or not.
Once the Xanesha part is wrapped up, I'm planning a pretty quick denouement with lots of loot, prestige, and foreshadowing, a conversation about starting book 3, and then hopefully beginning book 3. Downtime will be pretty short, but there's opportunity for some crafting during travel in early book 3. I've been rereading book 3 lately and taking notes. I plan to go much lighter on the rewriting this time around, but there are a few things I'm thinking about doing. Mostly stat changes. I'm really enjoying the read and imagining the possibilities.

John Gs |

Hi. I would like Cleo to come back, don't really like the idea of her story being over. I am still down about it all but will endeavor to keep that from my posts. She will pay everyone back for any money they spend. Right now she is broke from paying for funerals and doesn't really have much to sell, Maria's cloak of elvenkind and +1 breastplate is it.

DM TreasureFox |

Hey John, welcome back. I've been thinking about you a lot, and I'm really happy to see you return.
I don't expect it, but I'll leave the door open for Cleo to have a quick conversation with Death before her return. We can backpost for it. No worries if you're not interested.
You guys are going to have money in the very near future. The resurrection/raise dead will eat some of it, but not all.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

You know, if everybody was interested.... we could do this without costing us a dime. We could do a heist movie for the needed diamond.

Andreste Velletti |

Andreste would not be willing to steal/break the law to get Cleo back, as much as she wants her back. She was (barely) able to justify the forgery as being needed to stop a much greater evil.
And a dungeon crawl without Cleo would mean that much longer John/Cleo would have to wait to rejoin, as well as potentially giving Xanesha a chance to strike again, reinforce herself, or run away.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

Fair enough. Though technically John would still be able to play as Aggah in the meanwhile.

Cleo Gingerberry |

That would be fine Treasure. I'll keep an eye out for it.
I actually have a real hard time roleplaying Aggah. It is the language in truth, trying to make her sound gobliny is rough on my brain. Cleo doesn't ever really stealth so selling the elven cloak would be the first choice unless someone else wants it.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

I wouldn't mind taking it since I plan to contribute the bulk of the funds if not the whole thing.

Hey, that's good to know. Are you still okay with playing her in combat though?
-------------------------------------
I think the general agreement is a Raise Dead spell by Priestess Zimantiu. I remember wayyy back coming across a good alternative to a permanent negative level. I'll think about it and see if there's something there.
-------------------------------------
I'm going to make the decision not to run an additional dungeon/heist. At least not right now. Maybe after book 2 finishes, maybe on the way to book 3 during travel. We'll see. You guys may or may not feel more comfortable after loot and whatnot.
Good news: I figured out a way to allow shopping later in the game.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

Not super necessary, we just need a couple of thousand in diamond dust and cleo should be able to dispel them.

Cleo Gingerberry |

It is just the dialog I have trouble with.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

We could do like Haley did in Order of the Stick and get a diamond from a later part of the adventure. Just leave an IOU.
*blink blink* Note to self, new horrific fate, be turned into a bone golem then have those bones used to ressurect you while the bone golem is still a thing. Be a meat puppet for a necromancer.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

Heheheheheheheheh. Encyclopedia Arcane, Blue Magic

Linky: Xanderghul
(Spoilers about Thassilon/Runelords... and apparently the Return of the Runelords AP)

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

I'm sure it's a specific spell in the book I just mentioned. I love the encyclopedia arcane series and always wanted to play with their crossbreeding book, a book about making things like owlbears and centaurs and such. Instead of hearing about the mad wizard, become him.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Cleo will sell her elven cloak, potion of expeditious retreat, potion of remove disease, and breastplate +1. She'll keep the wand of cure light wounds and the Seven shards of a golden sphere-like Ioun stone (cause I have no idea what it is worth and it seems vaguely important). Nothing else really to sell.
That gives her 2325gp + her current purse of 38gp. If she can take a loan out for 2400gp, she'll keep the 243gp. Which will allow her to buy studded leather, and a couple of casts of restoration.
So tommorrow she'd cast four lesser restorations, on her wisdom and strength, and one restoration on her constitution. The next day one restoration on her dex, and four lessers wherever.
Is that correct/okay?

Cleo Gingerberry |

Wait she has a masterwork dagger, she can sell that for 151gp, she'll keep the one and reduce the loan to 2250.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

Guys. Don't worry, I got this. No need to sell thine stuff.

Andreste Velletti |

Boom!
As a side note, my wife is experiencing some serious health issues. If my posting gets spotty, that would be the reason. Hopefully she'll make a good recovery soon and it'll be no worries, but definitely worth a head's up.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Oh crap, all the well wishes and hope for speedy recovered possible in existence being sent your way, Andreste!

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

S&!@. Good luck. Hopefully it's not too serious.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Updated Cleo with the reduction in gear.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

What was that for, the money to get better, or trying to pay us back for your ressurrection, I wasn't clear on that and would totally have taken that cloak.

Cleo Gingerberry |

Paying everyone back for the resurrection. I have no ideas of the particulars of who paid for what so the cloak going to you to cover 1250 of it would be fine.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

And I am more than happy to take ONLY the cloak. Cleo's a sharer, Janis is a thief and a rich kid. to him, it's more than easy enough to get more money

Cleo Gingerberry |

Cleo will feel inclined to pay you back. It is in her nature. I thank you for it, DJ.

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

I thought that cloak was the one Cleo was talking about,

Cleo Gingerberry |

Nope, that cloak is Maria's. There is another one from the golem

Janis "The Gentleman" Scarnetti |

Well, you can't get rid of Maria's you know she wanted to turn you into a proper little sneak.

Cleo Gingerberry |

She carries her friend's in her heart, the cloak is unimportant. And it clears more of what she owes, so it can go to you or be sold, either way.
