I'm with you. I'm actually going to be the only person from my team in the office from now until after Jan 1. I don't like going to work, but I'll actually manage to get some stuff done I've been putting off for months, so at least there's something of a silver lining.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Merry Christmas, people!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

Hi all,
Hope everyone had a nice holiday season.

After traveling around a bit during the holidays, both my wife and I came down with this new strain of flu, and we're just now getting over it. Luckily my son seemed to be immune. Fun times. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm planning to start updating again tonight.

Thanks,
Haldhin

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Man I'm sorry to hear that, bud. Thankfully your son didn't get it. No matter how sick we get as parents, it's even tougher to see your kiddos go through it.

Glad to hear you're getting past it.

Thanks, hopefully we'll have some luck and manage to stay healthy for a while. :)

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Man do I have a question.

I went and looked at "Shared Resources" and perused through Lepidstadt Marketplace. Are those items all available to buy? 'Cause that's just cool.

@Haldhin: You know as a DM there's a way to place your former players into a "Previous player" section. I don't DM so I have no idea how it's done but I know it's there somewhere. Just fyi. I only mention it because I was looking through them and thinking, "Man, most of these folks are gone." There's only like 2 of you from the original crew. Man that is some brutal turnover.

Male Human (Azlanti) Wizard L8 | hp 43/43 | AC 14(22) (t13ff12) CMD17| Saves F4 R5 W8 | Percep +10 | Init +2 | Status: Nominal

Yeah, when you edit the 'Campaign Info' tab, you can change the Players and Characters information via those clicky boxes that pop up then.

Heads up: I'm on vacation from Feb. 5 to Feb. 18, and will most likely be unable to post at all. Please DMPC me as needed.

Yes, when you guys get back to town, the Marketplace will have everything there (plus some additional items) for purchase.

I honestly thought I'd gone through and unclicked people who had dropped, but I guess not. Thanks for mentioning it.

All,
Just wanted to give everyone a few quick updates.

First, everyone will be gaining a level very soon. Please let me know if there are any questions about character advancement.

Second, we only have a few more buildings to explore, and depending on your decisions, we could reach the "end" of the adventure very quickly. I am already working on the treasure/loot/market updates, so we'll have those almost immediately when the adventure is over. (The market is going to have access to almost all of the "generic" items this time around).

Finally, I know my ability to run this adventure on a consistent basis has been subpar for a while now, and I appreciate everyone sticking through it. I enjoy running for all of my players, and the lack of momentum we've had has been extremely frustrating for me, and I'd guess many of you as well. I just want to reiterate my commitment to the game, and I think moving forward, you'll see my updates returning to more frequent and predictable pattern.

Haldhin

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Hey, man, no worries over here, bud. If you keep running it, I'll keep playing. Well, barring some type of catastrophic event of course. I guess that goes without saying though. ;)

I like your DM'ing style and the players you got here. This is a good group.

Now, when it comes to rolling percentages(like the 50% for blindness), I'm gonna always count below 50 for a miss. Kind of like, "you've got a 20% miss chance" would be 20 or lower, so, that's why I'm rolling with less than.

If you have a different take/rule for it, let me know. Otherwise I'll just keep rolling as is.

Half-elf Ranger (Guide) 4 / Rogue 2 HP: (37/37) 49/49 / Init +4; Perception +16; AC 18/13/16; F+(3) 5, R+9, W+5; CMD: 21; Conditions: Mummy Rot - Con Damage: 4, Cha Damage: 4

Yeah Haldhin, I'm just glad you're still around and running this one. Hopefully Karl can survive to the end of the adventure.

Thanks guys, that means a lot.

Javell, I'm fine with your method for 50/50.

All, just a note to let everyone know my family is right in the middle of the winter storm projected to hit Atlanta tonight. There is a decent chance we will lose power, though of course, we're hoping for the best.

If our power goes out, I will not be able to post anything until it's restored. I'll try to post updates if/when needed as the situation develops.

Thanks,
Haldhin

Congrats everyone, you've all gained a level after defeating the mimic and the mummy.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

@DM: I'm rolling with 6th level stats on Morbury during this exchange. I gain an extra Mercy - in which I've chosen Disease. (Honestly, that's the one I would've chosen anyhow. It's the most deadliest of my options) But since this is mummy rot, he's also cursed. So now he has to have the curse removed first, as well as the disease afterward.

Would a 20 Heal check be able to reveal this to me? Or possibly my 21 Know religion check I made earlier in the thread?

If not then I've metagamed big time(Which, I guess I kinda have already due to reading the description of it). If that's the case, then we can retcon what needs to be retconned; I got no problems with that. Whatever's you feel is fair is cool with me.

I initially thought it was a disease but then curse popped up into my mind. So I looked and found it was both! I'm like, "Oh crap."

This is gonna be interesting to be sure.

Half-elf Ranger (Guide) 4 / Rogue 2 HP: (37/37) 49/49 / Init +4; Perception +16; AC 18/13/16; F+(3) 5, R+9, W+5; CMD: 21; Conditions: Mummy Rot - Con Damage: 4, Cha Damage: 4

Oh thanks Javell, that's a pretty awesome mercy, and I definitely appreciate you grabbing it. I think we're going to have to find a friendly cleric and/or bard to deal with the mummy rot though. Casting remove curse is beyond us for a few more levels, unless we find a scroll or something.

Anyway, Karl has a potions of lesser restoration, which wont get rid of the mummy rot, but will hopefully stave off some of the effects for a day or so. I think we had more than one at one point, but one of the older characters was probably carrying it, so I don't know if we have access to it or not.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Absolutely! That's just a great mercy, and for this AP, looks like it's gonna be necessary! I was wondering if I might be eligible for another mercy at 6th, and when I checked it on herolabs, sure enough there it was. I was like, "Heck yeah!" Man what timing that was! All we need now is to find a way to get the stinking curse removed.

And remove curse is a 4th level wizard spell. Unfortunately, that doesn't do us a whole lot of good at this point.

What Morbury CAN do is help you with your save on a daily basis as per the HEAL skill. If I can succeed on a heal check vs. the DC, then you can get a +4 to your save for that day. I know that's still shaky ground, but at least it's something we can give a shot.

I'll wait until the Professor responds and then I'll post IC about it. What I wished I would've purchased in the beginning now was a healer's kit. Ah well.

You know, I completely forgot about Alpon. :P

Per our hp's: If we're injured and we raise our hp's to their new total, do we move our current hp's up as well? For instance say my new total is 30 - up from 20 - and I'm down 5, would I now be at 25 instead of remaining at 15?

Hi all, sorry for my silence. We made it through the freeze last week, but the thaw afterward resulted in a neighbor's tree falling which took out our power and internet. Everything is good now, back to posting.

All the leveling looks good.

Sure, I'll say since you made both rolls over a 20, Morbury got it. I think that's a cool way to gain the mercy IC, so I'm fine with everything that happened.

You would be at 25.

I'm fine if you have two of them. Entirely OOC, the mummy rot is going to be a hindrance to you at this point in the adventure, it won't be fatal.

Has Karl actually taken any ability damage yet from it? If so, I'd like to take the potions to stave off the effects, even if it's just temporary.

No, he hasn't, but he will soon.

Con: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Cha: 1d6 ⇒ 5

You can go ahead and factor those results into your rolls, hp, saves, etc.

Ouch.

Ouch indeed!

Seriously, wow, I didn't even preview it.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

It would appear our esteemed DM has lost the battle vs. RL. That's a difficult bugger to battle, to be sure.

Hope everything's all right.

The battle, perhaps, but I still have hopes for the war...

Checking in, just in case...

Hello all,
First, many apologies for being gone so long without a word. A combination of the flu (second time this year), being out of the country for a couple of weeks without the internet, and bringing back a nasty bug from the jungle that sent me to the hospital conspired against me. Not having the internet was a total surprise, as was getting sick after returning home.

At any rate, I am doing better and life is beginning to return to normal. I have not yet had time to read through all of the posts made while I was gone, but I will do so tonight and/or tomorrow.

I completely understand if people have already left, but now that I'm healthy (and with internet access) again, what would everyone like to do? I'm game for continuing, but I would not be upset if my absence has resulted in a loss of desire/momentum to the point where people are no longer interested.

Half-elf Ranger (Guide) 4 / Rogue 2 HP: (37/37) 49/49 / Init +4; Perception +16; AC 18/13/16; F+(3) 5, R+9, W+5; CMD: 21; Conditions: Mummy Rot - Con Damage: 4, Cha Damage: 4

Glad to see you back Haldhin. I'm still up for continuing.

I say we go on!

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Still here as well, bud. You know, I figured RL had just become far too busy for you. Which would have been totally understandable if that were the case. It happens.

But it looks like psychicmachinery called it right. :)

Good to have you back. And good to hear you're doing better.

I'm in.

Half-elf Ranger (Guide) 4 / Rogue 2 HP: (37/37) 49/49 / Init +4; Perception +16; AC 18/13/16; F+(3) 5, R+9, W+5; CMD: 21; Conditions: Mummy Rot - Con Damage: 4, Cha Damage: 4

Looks like a four-top to me. Let's roll!

Sorry DM Haldin, but I'm not going to stay. I was ready to give it another try, but it's been another two weeks without any news.

Please remove me from the roster of players.

Thanks for letting me join the game when it faltered. All the best to you and the other players.

Still here, still would like to finish the adventure and continue to play the character.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I'm still here as well. Hopefully Haldhin will still be able to keep it going.

But a part of me still thinks RL may not let him. But we'll see. Hopefully I'm wrong. :)

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Well, folks, 2 more days and she goes inactive. Hate to see it die but it looks as if that's where it's headed.

@Haldhin: If you ever get a chance to pick this one back up, bud, pm me. I like this group and find you to be a solid DM. And I hope everything's all right with you also. Hopefully it's just RL busyness that's got you unable to continue at this point and nothing more serious.

But if not, it was fun while it lasted.

Javell

Yeah, I'm sad to see this one go as well. Haldhin is a great guy, and I really did enjoy this PBP. Best to everyone else involved.

PM

All,
Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still around, and despite a few months of chaos, my family is now healthy and happy.

My earlier message was somewhat presumptuous as we were forced back to the hospital that very night. Fast forward a bit, and I'm now returning to work after several months of leave. Luckily, we finally got the news we wanted to hear, so life is returning to "normal" for us.

At any rate, I wanted to thank everyone for playing, and wish everyone the best in their future gaming. I know I've been a bad DM for the past few months, but I hope that people had some fun in the times prior.

I'm going to be taking an extended break from the hobby to spend as much time as possible with family for foreseeable future. Maybe I'll get back in down the road, but for now, I really want to spend some time decompressing and just enjoying time with my wife and son for a bit. :)

Finally, I'll be making the game inactive to get it off everyone's lists.

Talk to you later,
Andrew
