Well, I'm really sorry to hear you are leaving, but I'm really happy that you have your priorities in order and you're going to be dealing with important stuff like family. Good luck with everything.
I'll figure out how to sideline Shanoa so she's safe, and if you ever have a chance to return, feel free to look us up. She's a fun character to have around, and you're a good player to have in the game, so you'll both be missed. If and when life settles down for you, you're always more than welcome to return.

DM Haldhin |

No problem, Franc, thanks for letting us know. It was fun having you around! :)
Okay, how to proceed? I don't think three is enough to continue, especially with limited divine magic. At this point, I'd like to ask if everyone else intends to stay with the game. This week with all the internet mess aside, I'm committed to finishing it, so I'm happy to keep running it.
If people want to push through, we can try to recruit a few more people, either by posting in the Recruitment forum, or asking others we know. I'm open to either option.
Alternatively, I also run two other CC games that are basically in the same place (and have had essentially the same history) - I would be happy to add people to those games if that is acceptable.
The good news is that the game sort of speeds up from here. Most of the "investigation" part of the adventure is over, so we're getting into the meat of the mystery - who is "The Beast" and what's his story? What really happened at the museum theft? How are the Whispering Way involved? Etc.

Hrm, tricky question. I've definitely enjoyed the rp with camris and garabbot, as well as those who have left us, but I guess I'm willing to go with whatever is easier for you, Haldhin. If Karl would fit into one of your other groups without too much difficulty, I'd be happy to move into one. That being said, if we could get some new blood in here without too much difficulty, I would rather stay in this game. What do the others think?

Darren Cayle |

Sorry all, week away camping and I didn't realize I forgot to let any of my games know until it was too late. Very bad on my part, oops and sorry again!
Also sad to see Franc go as well, but thanks for playing and see you around!
I'm up for either recruiting or combining games, whatever is best for you Haldhin. Though I do agree with psychicmachinery about group composition, I'd be happy with combining as long as it didn't result in a bunch of overlapping roles. I just don't want to see the game/story die! And I'd rather we keep our characters together for the RP's sake.

DM Haldhin |

No problem, Darren, wish I could have a week of camping! :)
Thanks for the responses, after thinking about it, I've decided I would prefer to recruit for this game and add 2-3 more people to fill open character roles. There is a good time to add them in the next few encounters, and we can continue with 3 until we get there.
I'll open recruitment again tomorrow, and during the process, let me know if you have any thoughts or comments about submissions.

Karl the Bastard |

Hey Haldhin, I saw you got the recruitment thread up. Looks like you're getting some good interest as well. If I could make a request, more divine casting would be nice, as would a party face of some kind.

Bertholdt Escheus |
Thanks for having me Haldhin. I'm looking forward to the game!
Regarding the character, I was, until the very last minute, debating the following:
-Delaying the Binding Throw feat in order to take Snake Style (immediate action I would probably use more for BIG creatures, instead of my immediate action for Reposition).
-Using the Conversion Inquisition to improve my "face", though the Domain power I find great to get in a fight (starting with a touch attack that forbids a full attack).
-Being a girl instead of a boy.
-Whether my whole "trip and grab" schtick was really worth some pennies.
I'd be happy to hear any player's thoughts, as well as yours Hadhin. I'm hoping to contribute the best I can.

Devi Ilinica |

Now that I have some time, I would like to say:
First, thanks to DM Haldhin for giving me this opportunity.
Secondly, this is Devi! She is a channel and caster cleric. She is very curious in a cautious kind of way. She loves to talk to people, but may not be the best choice for party face. She is fascinated by the wierd and grotesque, but she heeds Pharasma's wishes and seeks to destroy undead whenever possible so that they may face the judgment of the Lady of Graves.
She will focus on buffing and direct damage spells. (Input on spells and feats always welcome!)
That said, I am excited to join this game.
May I ask a favor? Can you all give me a quick run down of who your characer is and what role/s they play in the party?

Bertholdt Escheus |
I should have done something like Devi did.
Bertholdt (flowing monk 1 / inquisitor of Pharasma 4) is meant for melee disruption mainly, though through buffs and judgements, he can dish out some damage too. His Reposition ability allows to him try a trip attack as an immediate action when attacked. He can also stagger with his domain ability.
High skills: Acrobatics, Climb, Perception, Sense Motive and Swim.

Karl the Bastard |

Hi Devi, hi Bertholdt! Welcome to the pbp! Devi, I think I played with you before in a short lived RotRL game on the boards here. Nice to see you again.
Anyway, this is Karl, switch hitter Guide Ranger with a two level rogue dip. +14 perception, +10 disable device, +10 stealth, +8 climb, +8 swim. Kind of an angry young man, but a nice guy once you get to know him.

Javell DeLeon |

Thanks for the selection, Haldhin! I appreciate it.
Hello, all! I don't know any of you but I've seen everyone of you on the boards at one time or another, but just in "passing". Not sure you can actually "pass" someone on a computer, but, there ya go. :P
Well except for Bertholdt. What's up, DW!
Morbury can be the "face". Diplomacy is his main schtik. But I don't want to step on any toes if there is one already. It's all good to me either way.
Just got in from work at 10:10 pm. 13 hour day makes for a long one. Be able to get more involved tomorrow. Sorry.

DM Haldhin |

Devi, we're in Book 2, about 1/3 of the way through it. The group has been tracking down information about the Beast of Lepidstadt and crimes of which he is accused. They have followed a lead into a chemical plant, and have found themselves in a fight.
I have posted the intro for the new people, so feel free to respond in Gameplay.

Darren Cayle |

Devi, Bertholdt, Javell, welcome to the game!
I am playing Darren, the party paladin: a Fighter 3/Paladin 1, Darren hasn't been a champion for the Inheritor for long and he's definitely beginning to get a feel for it. He's a sword and board combatant, fighting with a longsword and shield bashes, and has a few face skills but is truly more of a fighter than anything :)

Devi Ilinica |

Trip and grab is great for crowd control, especially against casters. The downside is that if you grapple undead, you could eat a lot of negative levels and/or ability damage...
Girl vs. Boy doesn't really matter.
Snake Style is rad IMO
No opinion on the Inquisition.

Karl the Bastard |

I definitely like trip&grab against casters, but if we face off against a lot of things that are bigger than us, it might be less beneficial. Still, Rokannon can always make you bigger...
I have no opinion on your character's gender. Do what makes you happy!
Snake style seems cool.
I am a fan of the conversion inquisition, and having multiple characters with social skills never hurts.

Karl the Bastard |

Ah, really hate to mention it Karl, but the arrows from your bow revert to normal size the moment they leave your bow.
No worries Roaky, I know how enlarge works, hence the bow is sheathed and the sword is out. Just you wait until I hit lvl 6 and start getting spells for ranger though, gravity bow as often as possible!

DM Haldhin |

Apologies for my delayed posting. I had more writing to do than I anticipated, and both work and home have been hectic for a few days. I would say I think things are settling down, but I don't want to jinx it. :)
I want to mention that I did not write the original scene with Grine and Vorkstag in the Punishing Man. It was posted on these boards by Sol, another user. Just wanted to give him a shout - even though I tweaked it to fit our game, he did the heavy lifting.
