male tiefling

Molos walked into the office and sat down on a chair facing the man, gregorvich.

gm:
This meeting will be more productive if you have someone employ a spell of truth seeking. You will understand once the truth spell is employed.

diplomacy check to sway gregorvich to employ a truth spell. 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

Vince:
500 gold for the clock as well

Molos and Adrien:

Adrien: There is one exit, the door you came in. The office looks more like an armory than an office, with a weapons rack behind where Gregorvich is sitting and a few shields, painted black and red, on the wall. The shields show signs of use. Gregorvich is an imposing human, one of those people that always seems to be looming. He is decked out in plain but very black and red gear. A cloak with a symbol on the left breast hangs from his shoulders.

Gregorvich in response to Molos: Molos, you've been quiet for a few days, and now you want me to be under a truth spell. I don't know why you would request such a thing.

male tiefling

gm:
Not you, me. Something tells me you wouldn't believe me unless that measure was taken. Time is of the essence...I think

Molos and Adrien:
Really? Go right ahead. You've caught my interest now.

don't forget Molos that Adrien is in the room as well.

male tiefling

gm:
Two nights ago I woke up to a tiefling called Lugen who claimed that we were both members of the Hellknights. Funny think is that my companion here and three others had the same experience, except for most of them Lugen introduced himself as a member of one or another Cheliaxian noble house. Further more he told us that our memories had been sold to a devil, excepting for our childhood memories. As such I remember nothing nothing about you, my role, my life after my childhood or pretty anything else excepting for my arcane abilities. Further more I and the others got a invitation to a House Sarini Ball. So what was I to you? As you did call me up, so I assume I played some roll for you in my old life.

Molos, do you cast or pretend to cast a spell?

Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12

GM:
500 gold? Well, that's not happening. I had a decent pocketfull, but not that much. Ah well, saving is supposed to be good for you anyway. Or something like that.

"Hmmmm..." I pretend to ponder the clock intensely, "Nah, it doesn't really fit the theme I think. How much for just the calendar and candles again?"

Ideally, she will have forgotten the original price, and will provide a much lower one. Distraction. Great tactic.

Molos and Adrien:
Gregorvich looks grave. Am I supposed to explain your whole life to you? He thinks for a second. No, I guess your question is more specific. You are one of my informants, well actually I guess I should use the more appropriate description of information extractor. You have magical skill that many of the Hell Knights lack and most of that skill is focused on getting people to tell what they don't want to tell. you aren't officially part of the Hell Knights but you mine as well be. I've never been sure why you didn't join up officially. Does that answer some of your questions?

Vince:
You can have the pair for 75 gold.

Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12

GM:
Look at that. Tactics in action.

"Excellent, thank you m'lady. Now, about those clothes...?"

male tiefling

gm:
It does, but that still leaves the question of why me and the others? As the group of people that came to Asmodeus's Rest and spoke with me were also suffering from devil stolen memories. Their was virtually no similarities between us, so why? If I could get the oppertunety to interrogate Lugen or one of his associates that might help. But something tells me that Lugen is a performer in this circus not the ringmaster. He also said that I must slay the devil to recover my stolen memories. Perhaps you could find me some books on Cheliax, devils, the noble houses and arcane magic, those might assist me in piecing together what is occuring.

GM and Molos:
Adrien is left with a hanging jaw. "Well, so much for tact. Why don't you just give out the size of your-....nevermind, I'm afraid you might. Gregorovich, if I may address you plainly, we are at a loss, and so far have no idea what is going on. Perhaps what would be more useful, have you ever heard of a tiefling named Lugen? Are you aware of any disent between these houses? Have you as of yet been alarmed to anything of this nature? And if you had to guess, why would a strange one-horned tiefling try to pit 5 individuals against each other, when it is almost obvious we would have ran into each other at some point?"

Vince:
I won't walk you in detail through the whol process but suffice to say you are taking to Carew who dotes over you and give you all manner of fancy apparel to try. You can select an outfit anywhere from 5 gp to 1000 gp to purchase in any color.

Molos and Adrien:
Gregorvich seems to wilt under the barrage of questions from both of you. He hols up a hand when Adrien stops so he can get a word in edgewise. Lugen kills people for a living. He doesn't play in political games like this so I'm not sure why or how he would be involved in this. I would certainly bring you to talk to him but I know he's not here at the moment. He's out checking on patrols. The information you need is probably in the library, so I would start there. One-horned? That means it definitely is Lugen that was talking to you. As for dissent among the houses, that is always happening. Plotting and scheming and sabotaging and the like. You could be caught up in one of those plots but I doubt Lugen organized it. I'm afraid I'm as confused by the situation as you are. Devils? How are they involved?

male tiefling

gm:
The Devil I think gave something to someone in exchange for our memories. Perhaps you could tell me about the various hellknight orders? I remember some of them from my childhood such as the Order of the Nail, but others may have popped up that I have forgotten. And on Lugen does he have any friends or family that might have been used to make him play this political game?

GM and Molos:
Adrien looks between the two men. Waiting for a chance to speak. "If Lugen isn't the mastermind behind this plot, then I have a few issues about him. Is he unattended when he goes on his routes? How often does he check in? If there are demons in play, what are the chances that he'll be alive much longer if he's only a pawn in something greater? Gregorvich, I don't think it's beyond finding Lugen now to get the information out of him. If nothing else, for his safety. The few of us he contacted can then find out what we need from him." Adrien then hands the letter that Lugen gave him, to Gregorvich. "This is the invitation Lugen gave to me."

Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12

GM:
Oh good, that was rather tedious. I'll just get an outfit worth 100gp

With purchases made I walk back outside, bags in my arm. Next step, discover where I live. I hail a cab and give him the address from the scroll. This should also make my stalkers day just that little bit worse. I do a quick check to see if he's still around.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Molos and Adrien:
Hell Knight Orders are usually reserved for the higher ranks. In Egorian, Thrune took over most of the Hell Knight establishment and turned it into a policing force. I myself am part of the Order of the Scourge. He points to the symbol on his hanging shields. That means I am dedicated to the punishing criminals. Gregorvich lists off the other orders and some basic ideas about them. He concludes with:You might be interested in the order of the gate. They love to involve themselves with devils.

On Lugen: Lugen was a slave for Narikopolus but as soon as he gained his freedom he joined up with the Hell Knights. He signed on immediately as a killer so I'm thinking he has no love for Narikopolus.

To Adrien: He is unattended but if he is trouble then we are all really in trouble. Lugen can perform an entire patrol check without a single Hell Knight seeing him. Gregorvich pauses for that to sink in. Oh, I guess that wouldn't impress you too much. But he's good, I don't think we need to worry about him. I don't know when he';ll be back. He intentionally makes his patrols random.

In response to the letter: Lugen was invited to the ball? That surprises me, I don't think he's ever attended one where he was not working.

Vince and Mallichatti:
Mallichatti, I'll let you act if you wish.

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

So many spoilers for Vicne and GM:
Waiting jsut outside is a tall scarred man. Stepping forward he addresses vince. "Excuse me. Are you the one called Vince?"

Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12

GM & Mallichatti:
"Excuse me. Are you the one called Vince?"

Oh look. He is still around. Right next to me in fact. Kind of an intimidating guy too. I take a slight step back, wishing my hands weren't full of shopping so I could draw my blades if necessary. It would be so embarrassing to be killed with shopping bags in my hands. Maybe the candlesticks could count as weapons? I dunno.

"I am a one called Vince. A more specific answer will require a more specific question don't ya know," I say, giving him a toothy grin. Always show you're ready to bite. Preventative maintenance and all that.

male tiefling

GM:
In my childhood I heard rumors about the order of the gate, although all of us tiefling children knew one thing...never tick them off. Also could the Order of the Gate be the one's running the show? Or is it simply not their style or mode of operations?

Molos and Adrien:
I don't know. I will say that the order of that gate is almost always involved when negotiations with devils occur. If this was a deal made with devils, it would be likely the order of the gate was involved somehow.

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

Vince and GM:
"I give what I get." Says Malichatti with a guarded expression. "And what I was given was little. A tiefling told me to find a Vince in a specific tavern for help. You were a Vince. In that tavern. Presumably, you can help."

male tiefling

GM:
Do you have any contacts in the order of the gate?

Molos and Adrien:
No, I don't know anyone in the order. They are probably the most secretive of all the orders.

GM and Molos:
Adrien waits patiently while the two men talk. Towards the end of the conversation he looks to Gregorvich "I'll find Lugen. I will get what I need from him one way or the other. No murder involved. But I hope he has a decent reason for doing what he's done...."

male tiefling

gm:
While you do that I'll see what I can get out of the order of the Gate. I would also like to bring along two order of the Scourge men, having an escort like that should give me some sort of aura that means I'm serious. The order of the Gate might also be more predisposed to helping another hellknight order then it would be to an outsider.

Molos and Adrien:
I can grab a few of the Sergeants to go with you. You have certainly earned the right.

male tiefling

gm:
One last question for now. Are their any other pertinent facts, is perhaps a person I formerly interrogated targeting me?

Molos and Adrien:
Not much chance of that. People know you are under our protection. They would need a much better reason than your interrogation to attack you. And besides, most of those guys are still in prison anyway.

male tiefling

gm:
If your protection basically means someone is impaled on a pike in the middle of the city, then we must assume whoever targeted me is either beyond the power of the hellknights or thinks he is beyond their power.

Molos can you rephrase, can't quite follow the comment.

male tiefling

Try now, sorry if I am being unclear

Molos and Adrien:
You'll find there aren't many beyond the power of the Hell Knights. I would love to say there are none but Thrune makes sure of that. Now, let's go get you some partners.

Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12

GM & Mallichatti:
"Presumably I could, if only I knew what it was I was supposed to be helping with. And possibly had some sort of motivation for doing so."

Now, it's not that I'm suspicious or anything, but this goes a little beyond coincidence. I'm willing to put money on it that he was woken up by a certain one horned tiefling, who told him that some House or another took his memories and put them in a devil, and to destroy said devil and the contract of that House. Well, actually I'm not, because I don't gamble, but if I did. This whole ordeal is... frustrating. Constantly shifting environment. I don't like all these new players coming in, when I don't even know the old ones yet. I need some stability. I don't like working on the fly.

male tiefling

gm:
Two people who are perceptive and adept at capturing people alive would be a good choice. If Lugen realizes that his ploy is being derailed he may decide to simply kill me, if that is the case I intend to take the bastard alive and pry the information directly out of his skull. With either magic or a mace to the head.

Molos and Adrien:
You think the Order of the Scourge accepts just anybody? I'll let that one pass since you have no memory Gregorvich leads you into a mess hall where several Hell Knights are sitting and eating. "Ranson, Trukik, you're going on duty." Two humans jumps up, throw the rets of their meals away, and salute in front of Gregorvich. You're helping out Molos today. Do whatever he asks and don't screw anything up. And no need for armor or your uniform cloaks, you're armor won't help you. Gregorvich turns to Molos. All yours. He walks off.

male tiefling

molos motioned the two hellknights over to a corner.

gm:
Alright first you need to know what is occuring, or at least the short version. For whatever reason Lugen has gone rogue, we do not know if he has done it willingly or if something is compelling him to do it. He may or may not have it out for me, if he attacks us or if we find him capture him alive. I will try to make it easier by laying my own compulsions and spells on him, however I do not know the strength of his will. The other thing is we need to take a visit to the Order of the Gate and my mind is to say...frazzled. As such you two must lead the way.

I forget, are Molos and I sticking together or separating for now?

At the moment you are both there. I believe you said that you would find Lugen. Didn't specify alone or with Molos

Molos and Adrien:
The two men look at each other. The, um, order of the gate? We don't know anyone in that order. They keep membership a secret. We could search for days and ask hundreds of people and get nowhere. The other one nods. We might be able to find Lugen though, or at least go where he might show up. Let's check the slums patrol, there's been lots activity there. The two head towards the door, buckle on their weapons and head down the hall. They stop at a barracks and switch out their uniformed equipment and throw on non-descript cloaks. They lead you outside the fortress and across the bridge

Vince and GM:
Malichatti scratches the back of his head not knowing exactly how to proceed from here. "Right, well this is going to sound crazy so I understand if you just walk away after I say this. Frankly I don't believe it myself. But I woke up a while ago without any memory of what happened the day before. Or the day before that. Or the day before that for that matter. And then some tiefling gives me a load of crap about slaying a devil to get my memory back." Malichatti looms in and lowers his voice. "But the crazy part isn't that there's a devil with my stolen memory in it. It's the fact that I'm pretty sure I could kill it if I saw it. Sound like somethign you can help with? Or do I have the wrong Vince?"

male tiefling

Molos followed the hellknights to the slums, he read through the spells in his mind searching for the best ones to pacify an enemy without inflicting harm

Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12

GM & Mallichatti:
And right on the money. Maybe I should take up gambling. I sigh and rub my eyes. Ok. What to do?I really don't know enough about the situation to explain it to him. The rest of the group is probably even worse. Problem problem problem... solution! Keep him busy. More leads to follow than people to follow them. Easy task, low priority. Will help case him out too, see if he's as competent as he looks. Scars can be misleading in that manner.

"Yes, I can help you. First: need you to do something. There was an explosion at House Jeggare not too long ago. I need you to, subtly dear gods please, investigate and see if you can find out what happened. The rest of us are out on other projects. Meet back at the inn at sundown. I'll try and be there, but just hang tight if not. Some of the group are a bit... well. Insane. To be blunt," I pause, looking thoughtfully off into space for a moment.

"So yeah, welcome to the group!" I say, grinning enthusiastically. I really gotta work on that sarcasm thing...

Adrien follows as well, with bow drawn.

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

Vince:
The big man looks confused for a second before responding. "I'm not sure I can do subtle." He shrugs. [b]"And I don't like having my time waste. But I'll do this one thing. After that, I'm going to need some kind of answers or at least an admittance that you don't know what in the hells I'm talking about or the next time I see you I'll take that fancy looking calendar popping out of the bag there and cram it up your ass in such a way you'll have to take a crap to check the date. Understood? Malichatti speaks calmly as if the idea of threatening grievous bodily harm to another man was just a normal morning ritual, like brushing his teeth.

Molos and Adrien:
The two Hell Knights lead you around the slums, along the walls and through several gates, frequently meeting up with Hell Knights on patrol or standing guard. At each stop they ask if Lugen has been by and the answer is always no. After a few hours of this, a runner appears and talks to the two Hell Knights. Lugen came back to base. He was only there for about five minutes though. By the time Gregorvich could grab me and tell me to inform you about his return he was already gone. There was a messenger that stopped by while he was there. Gregorvich says this behavior from Lugen is unusual. He thinks we can stop looking for him on patrol and head back to base.

Male Human Fighter 8/Ranger 12

GM & Mallichatti:
He liked my calendar! I'm so happy. And he got the memo about delivering threats to me too! This is turning out to be such a wonderful adventure.

"Yup, you'll fit right in! Can't wait to see what you find out!" I grin and wave happily as I walk away. Now. Back to finding a cab. Being completely unfamiliar with everything is beginning to get irksome.

male tiefling

gm:
Back to the base then.
