You don't need to make a sleight of hand check when you are alone. I'm going to wait on leaving the Inn, you might run into a commotion.
---All but Sydney---
For those at Asmodeus' Rest, here is the order of waking:
Molos
Vince
Ariana
Adrien
The people who wake up ahead of you will be present so please post for all to see when you enter the common room.
Vince Hellbound
---GM Shadowtail24---
The letter:
Vince,
You are cordially invited to the Leroung Ball, to take place on the Fireday, the 4th day of Pharast, in the year 4712 A.R. Performing will be Master Morgrim Igmar, of House Sarini.
As you enter the common room Regrif beckons you over to the bar.
Vince Hellbound
A ball? Like, dancing? And fancy things? Who would invited me to that? On the other hand, probably lots of free food and alcohol. Hmmm.... this is a tough one. I wonder what the date is. I head down to the common room to eat and hopefully find out the date, but Regrif preempts me. Ominously convenient.
"Yes?"
Ariana Ddraig
Ariana spends some time when she awakes again trying in vain to figure something out about herself. No memories come, and she hasn't the slightest idea where to start on finding anything out about herself. Dejected, she slinks out of bed and into the common room for some breakfast and hopefully an idea, or otherwise some kind of insane divine intervention.
Vince Hellbound
Bad: Unknown man who wants to speak with me. Possible past connections. Might have grudge? Possible trap? No way to know. Be on my guard though.
Good: Opportunity to acquire info.
Well, I got my swords. And maybe magic? Dunno, don't wanna bank on it yet though. But I'm pretty sure I can cut something up should the need arise. I grin.
"And who might this man be? And why would I wish to speak with him?" I ask the dwarf.
Vince Hellbound
"And why's that? Do I not have a right to know the instigator of any meetings involving myself?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Adrien Riventhorn
Adrien walks to the common room, with a box under his arms. His long black hair against a tall pale muscular form brings a presence to the room. "Regrif. The bed was restful, and the food was welcomed."
I assume I came in after he talks about the man in the dining hall?
---GM Shadowtail24---
Ariana: As you enter the common you, you notice the innkeeper talking to a human.
Vince and Ariana: The dwarf seems resigned to his fate. "It's the man you are looking for."
Adrien You are trailing this conversation by about 10-15 minutes right now. You will most likely miss the conversation but you might run into a reaction by Ariana. I'm going to wait to see what they do before I do a reaction to your post.
As you reach into your pouch to pay for dinner, your hand brushes against another scroll. On the front is your name and "House Sarini"
Your scroll:
Sydney Bristove,
You are cordially invited to the Leroung Ball, to take place on Fireday, the 4th day of Pharast, in the year 4712 A.R. Performing will be Master Morgrim Igmar, of House Sarini.
Lugen's scroll:
Lugen Sarini,
You are cordially invited to the Leroung Ball. It is to take place on Fireday, the 4th day of Pharast, in the year 4712 A.R. Performing will be Master Morgrim Igmar, of House Sarini.
Ariana Ddraig
Ariana takes a seat near them, listening intently to the conversation partly out of lack of anything else, and partly because there was the narrowest chance it could be something that could help her.
---GM Shadowtail24---
---All---
Everyone will have noticed a calendar in their respective Inns that has dates crossed off. Day 2 is Oathday, the 3rd Day of Pharast. The ball is on fireday, the 4th day of Pharast. That is of course tomorrow.
During the night you have the following dream:
"I have a different type of job for you. I need you to spread information instead of gather it." Alana turns to gauge your reaction. You remain neutral, she doesn't realize you do this already. "I'm not sure what Duranu is up to but he wants to spread word that the attacks at the border are starting to break through our lines. Spread it as a few different rumors, maybe one that talks about how we had to stop our forward push and another that says we are being counterattacked and our forces are taking heavy causalities. The more variations of it there are the more likely people will believe it. You follow so far?" You nod, careful to not roll your eyes.
"After that, we'll start stage two of the rumor. After the rumor that we are failing at the war front has spread, we want to start suggesting that houses send extra troops there. Don't worry about why, it's all part of Duranu's plan. You don't have to understand the entire thing." You hear Alana whisper, I wish he would include me at least. You can understand the plan so far, convince the houses that help is needed at the war front and then make sure they are sending their troops. The fact that she can't piece it together makes you wonder not for the first why you are listening to someone like Alana. But pure blood nobles are not going to let a foreigner run the show, just do all the important work. "Come back in a week and we can evaluate how you are doing."
You remember the dream vividly the next morning and it's memory does not fade as the day progresses. The dream has such a real feel to it.
I'm going to wait to see how you react to this before reacting to your PM. Also, try to keep everything on this forum and not in PMs.
Vince Hellbound
"Ah. Yes, that is interesting..." I murmur to myself. Well. At least that part was considerably easier than I had projected. Does he know I'm looking for him? Does he know why? I'm planning through possible conversation routes as I enter the private dining room.
Vince Hellbound
"Why of course, thank you," I say, ignoring the wine and sitting down across from him. I surreptitiously scan the room for any eavesdroppers or other such unwelcome guests.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
"So, you're the infamous Molos Tavark eh? Good. I have been instructed to tell you that I need help destroying the contract. I trust you know what I'm talking about?"
I lean back in the chair a little, hands behind my head, trying to gauge his reaction.

Agent K arrives at the location as the Dr is talking to the assistant. The Dr seems most interested in whether the Hell Knights were contacted and if they had found any information on the escaped patient. The assistant says that she has not heard any updates. She does say that the brute you were impersonating did an excellent job in helping with the investigation. The Dr nods and goes into his office. He comes out a while later and asks the assistant if anyone had been in his . The assistant says that no one had gone into the office. Later in the day the brute you impersonated shows up and is immediately called into the Dr's office. Dr Erguard says that he is very thankful for the man's help during yesterday's events and gives the man a sack of coins. The man quietly takes the coin pouch and walks off, barely managing a "thanks".
The Dr makes the rounds, talking to the patients and asking how they are doing. You don't care about most of them but you pay attention when he comes near Treric. The Dr. asks Treric, he calls him TC, if he is feeling better today and whether he has thought about whether he is going to change his mind about magic. TC nods. The Dr casts a spell in front of TC but the boy just looks away. "TC, I know you aren't in here because you don't believe in magic, so you don't have to keep up the act. I believe you will be kept here no matter what the circumstances are but at least we can be honest with each other." TC says nothing so the Dr moves on the the next patient. As Treric moves around the office Agent K notices that the boy's hand is deformed.
After a while a tiefling in Hell Knight colors arrives at the asylum and walks straight into the Dr's office. Agent K scurries over as quickly as he can without being seen. He walks in as the Hell Knight is saying "... and thus we believe the patient is dead." The Dr frowns and looks down at his desk. "I'm sorry to hear that, I had hoped we would find out who this person was. Thanks Lugen, I'm sure the Hell Knights did everything they could." As you pique interested at the name Agent K studies the tiefling and confirms it is the same one from the night before.
Following this, Agent K finds nothing else of interest and waits for the Dr to leave.

I won't go into all of your basic knowledge topics, just the highlights that are unique to Egorian. Also, side note, how if the duration of mage hour 10 hours? Standard is 1 hour per level which would be five hours for your character.
Regilion: Cheliax's primary diety is Asmodeus and the temple of Asmodeus in Egorian is the largest temple of Asmodeus in the world.
Power structure: Chelix is based on a House politics model with the most powerful house serving as a monarch. Thrune is the current ruler and has been for the past 72 years. Thrune managed to take over control of Cheliax when Cheliax was at war with Isger. In your limited research you could not find two matching accounts of how Thrune took control of Cheliax. All accounts agree that Charthagnion seemed to be firmly in control before Thrune suddenly seized power.
Contracts: You continue to come across references to contracts in your study of the power structure so you decide to look into it. Contracts are summoning pacts made with the devils that are frequently in or around Cheliax (Many consider Cheliax to be the hub of devil activity). These summoning pacts are almost like mercenary contracts, with the House promising influence and favors and the devil providing magic and military strength. The amount of combined military and magic strength promised in a contract is almost completely correlated with a house's power. Destroying a contract could cripple a house for years.
You very quickly learn the other areas you are studying, quickly enough that you can get a basic knowledge of all of the subjects.
As the day is winding down you finally put down the books and ask the librarian about the names Duranu and Alana. The librarian, a half-elf named Solaria, asks if you mean the Thrune nobles. You nod and she tells you the following:
Alana: "Alana is one of the high nobles of House Thrune. She is a pure blooded Thrune and has been on of the key decision makers since well before the takeover. She seems to be the living embodiment of Thrune's arrogance and pride.
Duranu: "There is a name I have not heard for a while. You'd be hard pressed to find it in a book anywhere in the library, but Duranu was one of the military generals for Thrune in the Isger war. Prior to the takeover, Duranu was a prodigy. After the takeover, Duranu was in charge of all of Cheliax's armies. He was celebrated after the war but something happened, the official charge was treason, and Duranu was exiled from Cheliax. He was stripped of all titles, awards and accomplishments and sent out of the country. His name has been removed from as many records as Thrune could find. Those who know about him are people like me who studied the war when it happened and remember the details."
Let me see how the other timeline progresses before I set you and Agent K to following the Dr.
Vince Hellbound
I was more hoping you would enlighten me I monologue internally. Ah well, let him be difficult.
"House Jeggare has a contract that needs destroying. Will probably be guarded by a devil of some sort. Kill that too. You now know everything I know. So, you in?"
I'm hoping he is, if nothing else he'll be a good distraction for anything trying to eat me. I love teamwork.
Vince Hellbound
I blink a few times in a most peculiar mixture of confusion and irritation. Threats? Really now. Unprofessional.
"Was there some part of 'You now know everything I know' that wasn't clear? Just because there's more details doesn't mean that I know them."
I pause. Either he has had a really bad day, or is a d+~$@ole of the highest quality. Either way, not exactly someone I want watching my back. Or really anywhere near my back for that matter. And the casual talk of mind-rape is discomforting too. Decisions decisions...
"You know, given your demeanor, I think that your help will be somewhat less than necessary. I most sincerely apologize for the intrusion," I say, standing up and exiting the room.
That did not go well.
Sydney Bristove
Vince Hellbound
"Oh good, you can vex me in multiple languages now. I will take this opportunity to use our mutual multi-lingual capabilities to again inform you that I have little to no desire or need to work with you. I'm a firm believer in non-mind-rape culture." I say. This is really a rather nice language. Lots of flow, but simple too. I like it. I hope he goes away.
Am leaving for the beach now. The internet situation is unknown. I apologize if I cannot post. Will be a week at the most. Enjoy!

Ok, Let's set the scene. Ariana, you heard everything that Vince and Molos said, including Vince saying that he needed to destroy House Jeggare's contract and that he had to kill a devil too. You even understand the infernal because what Cheliax party doesn't have 4 infernal speakers.
Right now, Molos is at the open door of the private dining room, Vince is several steps into the common room and turned towards the private dining room, Ariana is sitting about two feet from Molos at the end of the bar, and Adrien is entering after the next post.
I'm going to try texting the scenes to Vince, getting his reaction through text and then posting it myself. So act away.
Ariana Ddraig
She listens to everything they say, picking out words like 'House' and 'contract' that pique her interest. She considers making a move, until she hears them begin to speak in Infernal. She doesn't know it by name but she knows the words, and that's enough for her. She gets up and strides quickly over to them, speaking lowly.
Adrien Riventhorn
Adrien Riventhorn
Adrien hears the exchange between the three individuals. He corners the three individuals in the room.
Adrien then gives a quick glance over Adriana, switching his view to the other two.
After sizing up the trio, he makes his less than stellar impression of Molos and Adriana known. The only strong able bodied individual here, other than him, seemed to have no concern for even his own well being. What could he possibly have in common with these fools?
Ariana Ddraig
---GM Shadowtail24---
From Vince in infernal: "Devil actually," I reply automatically, "slight difference." So, I'm not alone in this. Interesting. Unfortunate that I'm stuck with this contentious lot though. "Are you all as excited about this situation as me?" I ask the group at large, "because I am not excited. At all. Lots of offense intended." I stare directly at Molos. I hope this is over quickly...
Adrien Riventhorn
"Indeed....it seems we're all looking for the same thing. I was contacted by a certain Tiefling, that I believe can help us. I received invite to an event by this individual, that is being held tomorrow night. I think we can further our search there. The only thing I know for certain, is the Hellknights are responsible. Take that lead if you'd like. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm needing to go find a certain woman by the name of Ariana. Good day." Adrien then turns to walk away.
Ariana Ddraig
She perks an eyebrow. Someone with her name. That drew her attention at last, and gave her a burst of hope. She reached out for him, casting Mage Hand and using it to nudge his shoulder and get his attention. "That would be me, as far as I can tell, so anything you know would help."
Adrien Riventhorn
Adrien turns as Ariana mentions who she is. "Well.....damn. I almost had a chance." He then walks past the trio, into the booth, shoulder checking the tempered little tiefling.
(Just for giggles) Strength check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

I am going to back up your story some. The Hell Knight came to the office in the early afternoon. I will assume that when Agent K noticed the Hell Night's identity you will stop reading, hurry through the conversation with Solaria and then catch up with Agent K. We can assume that you still learned some knowledge of each of your subjects, just to a lesser degree. I'll pick up your conversation with Solaria after she described Alana and Duranu.
Also, Alana is a half-elf. I meant to include that in your dream. Pure blood noble, but also a half-elf. Both are correct.
Solaria: "During the war, there was a time where out forces got pushed back. The houses all rallied extra troops, except for Charthagnion. Charthagnion would never say why, but they refused to send extra troops and faced extensive public ridicule. They were the ruling house though, so did every they could to crush the rebellion. They spread themselves too thin though and the rebellion succeeded. The houses pulled down Charthagnion and Thrune emerged from the wreckage. I think Thrune was just the quickest to react to the situation. They had smart minds in place, at least everyone but Alana, and a strategic general in Duranu."
Agent K leaves your range of communication. You mentally mark the location and head there as soon as you finish talking with Solaria. You come into Agent K's range, to be told that Lugen entered the HEll Knights fortress. Agent K tried to cross the walkway but was spotted by the guards and shooed away.
