Just wondering whether I should play my ace in the hole.....nah. No stealth, no bluff, no clue who all of you are (okay except Vince who is starting to look equally clueless). Dammit captain I'm a barbarian not a rogue magician.
Choosing between following complete strangers in a clandestine mission for a corpse and waiting at the inn for a drink. He chooses the drink.

Molos, Vince and Adrien, you follow the cart along side streets, tracking it with glimpses through alleys. Thr chase is interrupted though, as you hear a cry of "death to hell Knights" followed by several arrows being shot at the two guards and the executioner. Almost immediately a cloud of mist springs up around the cart, hiding it from sight. If you wish to enter combat, roll initiative and state your first round action. You are about 40 feet away from the cart and20 feet from the edge of the mist. You cannot see any attackers with your limited alley view. If you wish to just observe you can also do that.

Vince Hellbound |

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"Death to Hellknights!"
Excellent. That could be useful. Distract them while we ni-
Oh. Oh wait. I forgot good things can't happen to me. A cloud of mist coalesces around the cart and Hellknights, blocking it from view. Well. That's just great. I sigh.
"Ok, in on 3, I grab the body, you guys cover me, good?" I whisper to the others.

Waiting for Adrien's round 1 action and then I will reconcile.

Adrien Riventhorn |

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Adrien will draw his bow and wait to act until he notices movement or threat to Vince.

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
Archers initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Molos hurries to the end of the alley and Casts a spell st one of the archers. The human shakes it off and keeps firing. Adrien draws his now and then waits to trail behind Vince. Before the two can move a female scurries into the mist. Vince and Adrien hurry towards the cart and are met with two arrows sent at eavh of them.
Vince: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 111d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Adrien: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 281d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
damage Vince,Adrien : 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Vince takes 6 damage, Adrien takes 5. The archer that hit Adrien slips on his second shot and falls back down the side of the roof.
A sphere of fire descends on the mist. Sydney, reflex save dc 18 please
Sydney, you hurry into the mist and feel around inside. You hit the cart before anything else. Yiu feel the heat of the fire ball even without seeing it.
damage fire: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2) = 8 save negates

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
To complete the round:
Sydney, you take fire damage but are too focused to let it stop you. You ran past the point where the executioner was so he must have moved before you. Inside the mist you are still blind. You feel your way to the cart and feel around inside but only feel a cloth that is burning.
Vince, you plunge into the mist and bump into the cart. You feel your way blind but only manage to this touch a piece of burning cloth before it is pulled away from your hand.

Vince Hellbound |

Worst. Cover. Ever. I growl and snap the shaft of the arrow. Chainmail saved me from the worst, but the head of the arrow is still digging into my chest. Just deep enough to be uncomfortable. A fireball blossoms up inside the mist, flashing for a strangely beautiful second before dying down.
"DO I LOOK LIKE A F&@!ING HELLKNIGHT TO YOU?!" I scream at the archers as I charge into the mist, hoping I can locate the cart. Fortunately I run right into it. My hands scrabble around, feeling nothing but the rough wood of the cart until I finally feel cloth. Unfortunately, said cloth is also on fire, and my hesitation lets someone pull it from my hand. I growl and chase after it.

Adrien Riventhorn |

If Adrien can get within distance to apply sneak damage (and deny dex bonus), he'll fire at the nearest archer. If not, he'll move to cover then fire.
If sneak damage is applied 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 to hit.
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 plus 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) = 5, otherwise just normal DMG.

Archer Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Molos tries his spell against but the archer remains resilient. Sydney manages to escape the fog back the way she came, holding tight to the cloak. The archer on the roof burries an arrow into Molos before hurrying away. The fireball moves to where Adrien is standing. Adrien recovers from the fireball aimed at him and tries to locate the remaining attackers, but none are to be found. Vince follows after the cloth that is pulled from his grip and exits the fog just after Sydney.
Attack on Molos: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Damage on Molos: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage on Adrien: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) = 4
Adrien, reflex save 18 negates all of the damage.
All, perception checks to recognize Sydney.
The Hell Knights have swords drawn and are watching the rooftops. [ooc]We are leaving combat. You may act as you see fit. After a minute the mist will dissipate, showing a burning cart but no executioner or teifling. The cloth in Sydney's hand is the cloak the executioner was wearing.

Vince Hellbound |

I chase after... whoever it is... that damn arrowhead still digging into my chest. Clear the mist, see some odd person running off with the cloth, so I follow after. I'm pumped now, blood and sweat going. I feel good. I guess I know now why I became a merc. This is great. I'm pissed and focused and excited all at once. I hope we get to do stuff like this more often.

Adrien Riventhorn |

Ref save 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Adrien, pulls away as the fireball hits. "Blast them. he gets back up to look for them again, but finds nothing. Adrien holds an attack until one is spotted.
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
Sydney, you would assume he left to escape the attack. You are unsure of why he would keep the body, except to maybe preserve burial rights. Keep in mind that the people you saw follow you earlier and who know your name are present. The human followed you out of the fog and is approaching you. Please act on that scenario.

Sydney Bristove |

putting the cloth in a safe place Sydney one the attacker have left will approach vince

Vince Hellbound |

"What is it that you want from me Vince? You wanted me to stop running so now that this piece of business is over what is it?"
Oh. That must be Sydney. Disguises. Right. And she's being friendly. That's new. For a moment I'm almost unsure how to proceed.
"First things first, you see where the body went?" I ask, looking around.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Vince Hellbound |

Nothing. Not a single thing. I sigh and crack my neck. Now that the excitement is fading, I'm just tired.
"Well, this was fun," I grumble, rubbing at my chest where the arrow is still being obnoxious.
"Ugh, my gut is telling me that I have to question the Hellknights, just in case. It is also telling me they won't know anything useful. I hate conflicts of interest," I muse out loud.
"Well. Better me than Molos I guess. Oh. Yeah," I turn to Sydney. "The tiefling over there, Molos? He's probably going to threaten mind rape on you. Just so you know. He probably won't though. I hope. Anyway, please don't freak out and run away slash kill anybody. Well. Me anyway. Don't kill me. Thanks."
I nod amicably at her and amble over to the Hellknights, trying to look as innocent and harmless as a guy with two swords and bloody armor can.
"So, what was that all about? And where'd your CO go?" I hope these are the kind of military men that appreciate bluntness over tact.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

---GM Shadowtail24--- |
The Hell Knights look back in confusion. "CO? That was just the executioner. He is supposed to stay with the body until it is buried, some weird tradition from the past. I have no idea where he went though. I don't know why we were attacked like that though"
The other one steps in, "Well, you see, about four streets ago I took the turn to bring Lugen to the graveyard where all Hell Knights are buried. It is unconventional for someone accused of treason to be buried with rights but I've worked with Lugen for a long time and I thought he deserved it." He sheathes his sword, sure that the danger is past now. "I'm thinking those people didn't like the idea of a traitor being buried with rights. They were probably like, you know, fanatics."

Vince Hellbound |

Interesting. Well, good luck guys, glad I don't have your job," I laugh, waving at them as I walk back. Always be friendly with people who outnumber you and can arrest you with no questions asked. Just good protocol really.
"Yes yes, exiting now," I reply to Sydney. I start walking back to the inn. A little blood is starting to seep through my chainmail. I sigh, lick my finger, and try to rub it off.
"This would happen right before the party," I complain.
What time is it now?

Sydney Bristove |

Sydney will follow vince but will stop dead in her tracks when she recognize that he is going to the inn they have been staying for the last two days.

Adrien Riventhorn |

Adrien sheathes his arrow and puts his bow back. Turning towards the rest of the party, he follows closely behind, watching for any strange movements. Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13.

Vince Hellbound |

We're walking along just fine and dandy, when suddenly Sydney stops. I look around, trying to see what caused her to halt.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
"Ummm... is everything alright?" I ask.

Vince Hellbound |

"Why of all places in the city are you going back here?"
"Well, I mean if you'd rather go back to my place..." I trail off suggestively, winking at her.
"Is there some reason we shouldn't?"
