Al-Khidr's reaction made Alastair's smile broaden. He had thought of something witty to respond with but left it only at a silent smile as John dismissed the man.
PbP can lead to a somewhat stilted dialogue with less interactivity that you would see in a a real-time conversation. If you wanted to squeeze in a witty rejoinder before John's question it would probably be OK...

Urk... The Malach, Seraph and Chasmal all fly... The Ranger, not so much. This could be a problem of sorts.
This is OOC knowledge at the moment, since none of the Trainers has filled in the Road Trip group on the mission specs, but are there more details on the execution of the missions? Available assets? Transport options?
I mean, how are we getting to each of the locations there? C-10 Griffon makes sense for Rome. SS-7 Striker Fast works for Eritrea.
Also, as a minor point to bring up with everyone, please note that the Engels are going to absolutely suck if we get bushwacked by the EoD underwater, since none of the weapons on any of the Engels are amphibious. Best case situation if we go swimming would be to hand-carry handheld Amphibious Lasers and have Cythery's Malach and Alastair's Seraph hot-load Torpedo ammunition in the rocket pods.

DM Downrightamazed |

I don't want to get too hung up on getting you guys there; I'm handwaving that you have sufficient transport options to get whatever you need to whatever site. We may well RP some of the travel times, insertion/extraction, things like that, but as you will find out when you get to the base, you have options available to you in terms of transport.
And neither Alastair nor John has brought the "car group" up to speed on what you have available to you, I want to give you guys a chance to RP it, but if it ends up being a hassle we can always just say "power word: infovomit" and handwave that you know it. Whatever ends up working the best.

Had vehicle troubles.
...let's just say that I've developed a new healthy respect for sand.

I've had quite a few posts get eaten on the paizo forums. For a while I was in the habit of backing up everything locally after I posted it, just in case. There was a thread on the website feedback section of the forums a while ago... it might be worth putting a post there so one of the admins can take a look at it.

Yeah, I've long been in the habit of typing my posts in an external text editor and then pasting them into the page so as not to lose anything during the actual posting process, but this is the first time I've ever had it happen where I submitted the post, actually saw it on the page, then came back the next day to find it gone. :-/ I can totally see where it could drive me to do something similar to what you describe above. Sheesh.

Meh, not all of us have been in the military. So I don't know much of when or not to salute. :/
Besides I’m going off what I can google or what I have been told by my friends who have served in the U.S. army and such. If you’re in the field saluting is forbidden, inside it is at times but at least a sniper can’t see you saluting an officer or such.

DM Downrightamazed |

It actually works out really well, character-wise. I can totally see Dev and Crash being more "salt-of-the-earth"-y in terms of the ins-n-outs with troops and such, whereas Engel pilots can be a bit more removed, and usually anyone they would encounter would be more expecting of being saluted, etc. So yeah. The characters are really alive in this thread, it's awesome.

It wasn't meant as a knock in any way.
I actually mentioned this to DM Downrightamazed earlier and he pointed out that it actually worked out better this way given that the Engel Corps are in many ways an entirely separate body from the rest of the NEG forces.
I think British author Neil Humphreys managed to explain this phenomena best. I'd assume the local equivalent would apply to the armed forces of any nationality.
National Servicemen are all fluent in bizarre Hokkien and Singlish phrases that mean nothing to anyone else. Approach a Singaporean woman and say “f~&! spider” and she almost certainly will not clean your rifle. .. Singaporean men possess the ability to converse in an exclusive, members-only language. It is not Malay, it is not Singlish, it is not even Hokkien. It is Army Speak. If you do not know the language, you can go “f**% spider”.

Sorry about that Dies Irae, I did come across there as a bit cross. My bad! Rough day at work and I was typing pretty quickly on my phone. No you were fine, I mean't to add that your quote was a good reminder for the future. As is Neil Humphrey's. ;)
Hopefully I can get more in character~ I will have to learn a little more about what being a soldier is like, despite Alastair being an Engel pilot doesn't excuse the fact he's been a soldier for a long time. Still having fun though! As DRA put it, all the characters are really neat so far and i'm looking forward to what is coming next. :D

Quick rules question...
PUTTING THE HORROR BACK IN
According to the standard rules of Framewerk, you should be able to use Drama Points for Fear and Insanity Tests as they are simply Tenacity Feat Tests. But this is a game about the dark and horrific and it won’t be as much fun if no one ever suffers Fear Effects or gains a couple points of Insanity. We recommend that Storyguides do not allow Drama Points to be used for Fear or Insanity Tests, or Tests related to the use of magic.
What's your view on this rule? Can we use drama points for fear/insanity/magic tests?

I'm fine with it. You guys have all been really good about respecting the the game's roots and source material so far, so I think we'll get plenty of horror vibe without resorting to GM railroading on Fear tests. :-)

@ DM Downrightamazed: During Integrity Scale combat, Chelsea will be manning the Ranger's turret and firing vehicle weapons, but game-mechanics wise I figure all vehicular combat will be handled at Winston's stat lines (8 Perception, Adept Marksman, Adept Support Weapon). Outside Integrity scale, I'll run Winston's combat actions but I'll leave Chelsea's role to DM Handwavium.
This okay with you? Or would you prefer I stat her up as well?
On that note, game-play wise, if anyone thinks I'm getting too much utility out of a 2-point Quality, please do let me know.

Yup! This is fine with me.

Personally though I'd watch out for the quiet one. She's studying yo(u)...
I still haven't figured out how to type up a proper post response to this, so I think we're probably going to have to settle for THIS at the moment.

Sweet. I've been trying to find in the rules how long it takes to transform from "normal" to "badass" without too much luck, is it just an action?
Hmm, I can't remember, but IIRC it's pretty quick; either one action or one round, something like that. I don't have my RAW handy; let's call it an action until we learn otherwise.

Rules thread discussion indicates Tager Transformation is a free action.

Hey, just FYI I'm on another short tour the next five days, after which I have some sound gigs and then another short tour after that, so the next two weeks might be a bit spotty, post-wise. As always I'll do my best to keep things up on the road between engagements, in hotels, etc. But if I go a day or two without posting, please stay with me, I haven't ditched ya, I probably just haven't had a spare hour to think, much lest write down coherent thoughts.
That or I'm stuck on another damn turnpike with lousy 3G and no WiFi. :-)
