Are the blue sections the ones that haven't been explored? If so we should head West first right?
correct
Tatsuo Arashi |
Tatsuo continues to act as human torch-bearer with his glowing daylight sphere with Sora protectively walking before him.
DM of the coins |
Heading West into the unexplored area, the hallway opens up into a good-sized chamber, which appears to be empty. The Northern wall, rather than being built of stone, is actually an immense stained glass window. A small room is dimly visible behind the multi-colored glass.
DM of the coins |
The glass itself is rather thick and difficult to see through with any clarity.
You think you can make out a statue on the other side.
you detect no magic nor evil in the room.
you think you see a small passageway leading out of the room on the other side of the glass (see the map thiat is the small corridor that goes back to the main hallway you entered this room from.)
Conner K. |
"I kinda want to avoid breaking things, espically works of art and such, I have no idea what this glass is worth" don't have anything in appraise he pauses scratching his beard "I guess we should check the walls? Split up, me and Tatsuo will keep going a little ways rubbing up on the wals looking for a trigger, Mikey, you and Felix double back and do the same or whichever other arrangement you feel would be better"
DM of the coins |
ok a little help here. entering the room...yes or no?
as far as secret doors in the hallway there is a hidden passage but it is a DC 0 to find since it is a 5' wide open plainly visible passageway.
on the map you are at the entrance to room 27. I described a statue on the opposite side of the window, also identified on the map as area 26 perhaps i am not detailed enough in my descriptions. I also gave a perception DC IF you look through the window to the other side which is yet another clue as to a possible path. including the revealed map you should be able to figure it out...unless you guys are unable to view the map. which i need to know so i can fix that
Felix Tark |
Sorry about that, the map makes things very clear. Sorry for not paying attention.
Seems like this we can get on the other side of the glass if we follow that small passageway off the main corridor. Let's go.
Felix heads to the small passageway
DM of the coins |
Felix: You head down the small corridor that turns and opens into the room opposite the room you were just in, on the other side of the stained glass window. (this is room 26 on the map)
The room features a large dusty statue in an alcove in the northern wall. It appears that this room has been undisturbed for some time. the stained glass window encompasses the southern wall and you can make out the room you were just in before on the other side..
The statue is of a man kneeling, with his right handheld palm up in front of him. the other hand is over his brow as if he were searching the distance for something. He faces south apparently peering at the stained glass window.
an inscription along the base of the statue reads: "The light that can blind the eye can also illuminate the mind."
again link to a visual of the stained glass window. and yes this is what it actually looks like
Felix Tark |
A riddle... Light... And the statue is facing a stained glass window. Felix turns to the others. Hey could someone please go to the other side and hold a torch up to the eyes in the window? Maybe that will do something to this statute.
DM of the coins |
The light from the Halo seems to create an interesting effect.
in the statue room the stained glass window acts as a lens and the halo the light combining to be like a projector.
the image of the stand glass window takes on an almost 3-D effect.
however the image is not complete. as the halo light source is not sufficient. perhaps a brighter source of light may work.
Also it appears that the image projected is too large for the smaller statue room it would need a larger space to properly be projected.
so. in short you need a brighter light source and a larger room.
Felix Tark |
Whoah, I think we're almost there. Just need a brighter light source and to use it from the other side. Maybe on the palm of the statue
Does any of our various treasures give out a very bright light? And to be clear light should be in small room and projected image will be south?
Tatsuo Arashi |
"Hmm, using the light from the other side; definitely a lot less work than my first plan, which involved moving the statue."
Tatsuo holds the daylight sphere up from the larger room, just to make sure it doesn't work. Then he moves to the smaller room and tries holding it up in there, calling to the people in the larger room.
"That help any? Do I need to move the light more on this side?"
DM of the coins |
the size of the upturned palm of the statue seems to be the exact same size as the daylight orb
while the orb is lit in the statue room the words of the inscription on the statue start to glow.
the light of the orb from the statue room is better but it seems even more light is needed.
However it seems that the door in the window projects against the far wall in the larger room to form a door there at the perfect location a door probably would be.
DM of the coins |
mickey, perception check please the dc is pretty high but you can make it
DM of the coins |
bummer there, not high enough...
as far as you can tell the wall is just that... solid stone wall.
DM of the coins |
Once the sphere is placed on the palm of the statue, the entire statue starts to glow a brilliant light. the resulting light creates the image of the stained glass window into the 3-D image in the large room.
Mickey: the wall you were looking at where the image of the door is, the image suddenly becomes more vibrant, and suddenly before your eyes the image of the door morphs into an actual door.
Felix Tark |
Wow, that really is better, come join us Tatsuo. Mickey is that a real door? Felix casts Detect Magic to try to see if he can get any insight on what's going on.
DM of the coins |
OK felix, I really don't know how to describe what you see with detect magic here. I mean the idea sounded really cool, but I never worked out that kind of stuff.... my guess its just overwhelming so you do not get a chance to identify it?
DM of the coins |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
was gonna make it a pull to open door but hey just Push it...Push it real good
The door opens to a small 5' wide, 10' long hallway that opens to a small room.
those with darkvision can make out a table in the room and nothing else.
let me know if anyone enters the hallway first.
Felix Tark |
Huh, still interesting even if there's nothing else. Keep the door open would you Mickey? And please don't remove the ball while I'm in there
Felix moves in and spends a little time searching around. If nobody with a light follows him in he'll light a torch before doing the searching. Taking 20 for 28
DM of the coins |
OK what happens next will take a little bit. depending on your actions and where you are will effect what you observe. so please be patient and when you post what you are doing please be somewhat descriptive as it will effect what others see.
Felix enters the hallway and goes to the table as he passes through the door there is a sudden pulse of force (like an invisible energy barrier was just penetrated) you receive no physical or mental damage of any kind....
looking back at the door (what you see will be dependent on what the others are doing) but from your view the door is still open and you can see the room you came from.
Ahead of you on the table lies a singe ring like a gold wedding band. no inscriptions no stones just plain gold.
(yes it radiates magic)
As Felix goes into the hallway, there is a sudden flash of light as though he has passed through a magical portal. and now the doorway is solid wall once more with the image of a door projected upon it.
EDIT I went with only Felix going through the door....it is big enough to allow two to go together if another wants to go at the same time as Felix let me know though let me know BEFORE you read the spoilers!
Conner K. |
Well Conner is generally taking point as the most tank-y character along with him, our trap guy so it would be probably be him
"Is it empty? Kinda an anticlimax after the light show." He begins to detect magic and evil as he goes to walk in
EDIT: him doing his normal divinations though would potentially allow someone else to go in if they wanted
Felix Tark |
So I guess Connor and Tatuso can decide if either came in with Felix or not
This place is something else Felix comments to the others in a normal conversational voice There's definitely some sort of force protecting this place and there's a ring here that we couldn't see from outside. Man I wish I knew more about magical items
Untrained Spellcraft: 1d20 ⇒ 15
DM of the coins |
Despite anyone entering with you, as you comment you notice you are in fact alone
the Ring is a "Ring of Sustenance"
