Crunch and Backstory in Alias ad Tempus profile. Works for you?

I'll likely be working on the backstory a bit in the days to come...

Makes sense. So, mutual attraction taking the background in the face of reality. Smiles and limited conversation, and both being distracted by other goals.

Nice! Maybe someone at the inn can point me towards you.

I'm sure if you stop by the Inn, you will notice me. Might take a minute to listen rather than stare, but she's basically preaching the ideals of racial harmony through songs of the ancient civilization.

Or, if there is a library in this town, she'll be there studying ancient records from time to time... might run into each other there.

Are you planning on taking advantage on this poor country boy? You b***h... :P

From what I've read in the wiki, this place is a single street village, I'm not sure there's a library here... But sure Teucer will be willing to stare at you... More so if you've got something to offer ;)

Oh, definitely didn't mean that she *wanted* you to drool. She's just a heart-stoppingly beautiful naiad, and she brings in customers because of that (and her amazing singing talent, of course). It's a burden she has to bear. ;) Definitely nothing to offer besides conversation.

Just for kicks, I'm thinking of submitting a second character. (Snakebite Striker) Brawler/ (Ancestral Harbinger/Greenrager) Bloodrager Wild Elf.

The concept is that this wild elf clan stayed near the abandoned Old Elven Court ruins after the Dark Court Slaughter of -4400 DR and over the millenia did their best to clear the area of monsters but lacked the manpower to do so and wild elves in general lacked the respect of the other elvish races to request assistance - and honestly, held too little respect for those who abandoned the site to request their assistance anyway.

Now, with their numbers dwindling due to the increased Drow presence near the ruins, Assuming this takes place after the Retreat envoys from the character's clan have been sent out in an attempt to find allies who would be willing to assist with the retaking of Cormanthor's Elven communities (Old Elven Court, Myth Drannor, Semberholme, and the Tangled Trees).

Sounds interesting

Look good to me

Osgaron Faethandrel is a wood elf from the High forest, hailing from an old family of woodworkers. He became a druid and war priest of Silvanus and Rillifane Rallathil in his early life to protect the High Forest from the encroaching horde of orcs, gnolls and now demons.

Not sure if his original lineage will hail from Myth Drannor or if he will understand the importance of such a task, as not too long ago his Homeland of Eaerlann fell when Ascalhorn became Hellgate Keep. His dream is to build a great grove and restore Eaerlann.

Nivian, you should read Akor's backstory. I think we would have an interesting relationship...

So here's GrinningJest3r's second submission. Greenrager/Brawler Wild Elf. I'll have backstory added probably tomorrow night when I get home from work. The concept stayed the same, it's just his actual bio I need to work on now.

Wow, lots and lots of posts.

If I don't post much, it's because I'm in Austin, not from lack of interest. Things are interesting right now. :)

Oh, wow! Yes, she would definitely want to talk to you. :) Interesting possibilities there, and cool backstory.

Stay safe, Velden!

Really think Anton here would work well. He is small, quiet and deadly when pressed. Also Who doesn't love Halflings who are on your side!!!

Erios, looked over the Myth Drannor timeline and it starts at -4000 DR, so unsure where you got -4400 DR as the year of the Dark Court Slaughter.

You're another PC who could have a potentially interesting relationship with mine.

I am just going to say it: I am checking this thread every other minute despite the fact that the call will be made days from now! Returning to Myth Drannor is sort of going back to the roots, back to when I started playing, more than a few years ago!

Great idea, Thackery :)

Presenting Sarrissa, infiltrator ranger/spiritualist for your consideration.

I got it from the FR wiki on the Elven Court. 4th paragraph under the History section. Myth Drannor was actually founded after the Old Elven Court was lost.

I'm always down for shared backstories. I haven't exactly made Erios' personal backstory yet, so it'll be pretty simple, I think, to tie them together. You've both got direct stakes in retaking Myth Drannor, while for me it's just a part of the war to retake Cormanthor completely.

Dragonofashandflame, I wish to present and submit Velen Hai Sylvar, sun elf gestalt magus/fighter for your consideration.

Akor is a PC that's been around for a long time, and has gone through several incarnations.

All of them want to retake the entirety of Cormanthor, and a few have even wanted to reclaim all the old elven lands. Two have been a part of the Eldreth Veluurtha as well, with levels in the Justice of Weald and Woe PrC.

I'm leaving this version more open, as far as those types of goals go.

Oh man, one of the biggest table top battles I ever ran involved the Eldreth Veluurtha against the PCs and two other NPC mercenary companies within the Ruins of Myth Drannor back in 2005. I think I was running 26+ NPCs of levels 15 to 22 at the same time. Now I make all those types of melees cinematic except for the battles of the PCs with their primary targets. That combat I pre-rolled all attacks for 10 rounds an the battle went 16. Forgot all about that, fun times! :-)

wow! so many interesting PCs to choose from!

You are in what is called a 'Target Rich Environment'. Probably one of the few times you'll be in such an environment and not be in major trouble, so enjoy it. :)

I would love to get in on this. I can see in my backstory my pc feeling sorry for the lose and in a quest to help heal wounds take it as a holy mission of hers to help assist reclaiming Cormanthor for how it should be. She may not be personally responsible, but her people didnt exactly help out either, unless im reading the wiki wrong.

Jester, as a side note, i dont mean to say your first idea wasnt great, i just love this one more.

Welp, so I realized I didnt get my stats or anything else rolled and saved like I thought, so here we go

Stats for Nehama Moonbow:

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 4) = 15 13 con
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 1) = 15 14 wis
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 3) = 14 12 str
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 6) = 15 13 int
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 6) = 14 13 con
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 4) = 19 16 dex

I'll keep this as the stats

Backstory of Nehama Moonbow:

Growing up in the church was never easy, not when you felt the call of adventure and of... more shameful actions. Sure Nehama didn't need to steal as the priestess of Sehanine, Belaha Sunglass, raised her as one of her own, even as the elder elf was past the age of truly caring for a young one. Nehama however felt the rush of excitement, and the thrill of sneaking through the night to be one of the better things in the world. As she grew up, she never lost the thrill of sneaking about, but did stop stealing, as she started to notice her 'mother' slowing down. While out for a few nights, she felt a presence touch her. When she awoke and returned to the chapel, it was very obvious what had happened. She had missed the passing of her mother, a mysterious illness she had hidden for years. Vowing to help others, she then spent the next few decades in service to Sehanine, before feeling the same presence, and this time she knew it was the Goddess reaching out and talking with her. She still kept up with her skills as a thief, for each night brought a new journey. When she left, she left on rumors of a possible fight for reclaiming Cormanthor, and knew she had to see if this was true, for if so, there might be the knowledge stored within so that no one ever had to die of what had claimed her mother's life.

Man really loving these PCs. Hope I get to play with some of you All!

Wow some of those posts got swamped. Anyone want to tie themselves in with my character?

Shadow Lodge

Sure, what are you?
my character is a dwarf fighter/warpriest who dreams of being a craftsman worthy enough to make weapons for gods

I'm playing a Druid/Warpriest of Silvanus.

His family hails from Myth Drannor many years ago, they fled to High forest where his family became renowned woodworkers, crafting the finest wooden weapons and armour. All was good for centuries until the demonic hordes of former Ascalhorn destroyed the wood elf kingdom of Eaerlann.

Oh hells yeah. Dotted for now, I'll find a concept that fits soon as I can.

fatmanspencer wrote:

Psh. All of my ideas are great. lmao

Seriously though, I agree. I was just really proud of Herrnarrell's bio. I think that was the first time I was able to tie in every stat, trait, feat, and ability, and still leave it open enough for GM fun. Now to see if I can recreate the accomplishment...

Hmmm Possibly

Oh this sounds awesome, probably playing too many games though :(

Dragon, just want to verify that we are in 1357DR, correct? Just want to be sure of some of my bio details.

Spencer, Shadow, Monkeygod, just remember that according to Dragon, we're not supposed to know that we're actually going to be restoring MD. So while we would make a good team for that purpose based on our backgrounds, I'm not sure how we can tie them together currently.

But in case you want to read over mine and let me know how we might fit our stories together:

Erios bio:
Erios, born in the Year of the Black Wind 1262DR, is one of the youngest of the most current generation of Green Elves who did not flee from Cormanthor following the Dark Court Slaughter almost six millennia ago. Erios' family's original name is passed down in secret from patriarch to patriarch, with a vow to only reclaim it once the Elven Court is retaken. Potentially, this could allow Erios to tie into any other bloodline from Myth Drannor as MD was founded after the Slaughter. Refugees from the Slaughter could have helped found MD, keeping the original family name while those who stayed behind, took on Shadowstep. The name of Shadowstep is now common use due to their proclivity for guerrilla tactics and stealth assaults against the monsters and even the drow currently lurking within the Old Elven Court ruins. Before being permitted to join the near constant forays against those same enemies, children of the Shadowstep family must prove their worth to the current family patriarch - in this case, it is Erios' great grandfather Salistras Shadowstep, just under 800 years old and as much a master of his craft as one can be. I see Salistras as a gestalt Ranger 11//Slayer 5/Shadowdancer6.

Erios has embraced the wild of their common-tongue name and prefers to fight without the aid of weapon or heavy armor, relying on his hatred of all evil races to fuel and focus his senses during combat, giving him a near supernaturally strong unarmed strike. In addition, perhaps due to Elves in general being more in tune with certain arcane abilities, Erios has noted that in his training exercises against the monsters of Cormanthor, he is able to channel some arcane talents as well as the amplified abilities courtesy of his Fey heritage. His great grandfather postulates that perhaps this is merely an additional manifestation of the Fey: warping an Elf's natural affinity for arcane talents, and focusing that affinity back onto itself to bolster his already formidable abilities, despite not having a studied aptitude for it.

Erios was one of several envoys dispatched from the depths of Cormanthor to seek assistance from other Elvish communities, or failing that, to request aid from any who would lend their support. Erios' first attempt was to request aid from Queen Amlaruil Moonflower and her Council of Matrons in Evermeet. The journey across the Trackless Sea lasted a full fortnight each way and it was for naught. Despite much sympathy being shown by the Council, they advised against providing any significant number of forces due to the (relatively) frequent attempts by others to take the island by force, and the Queen agreed with their assessment. The return voyage found Erios making port in Waterdeep where he petitioned the Masked Lords for assistance from the Gray Hands. Again, Erios' request was denied, this time on the ground that the Gray Hands were currently on task elsewhere and Cormanthor is too far to make it worth providing a portion of the City Guard for such a task. Finally, Erios travelled to the Gem of the North - Silverymoon. In much the same manner as Queen Amlaruil, High Lady Alustriel Silverhand was sympathetic to the plight of the elves of Cormanthor, but could offer no assistance - the Knights in Silver, the Spellguard, the Silverwatch, Moon Garrison, and High Guard all hold various positions in protecting the city and surrounding countryside, but there is no force in the Silver Marches which would either have an interest in assisting, or even be able to assist, with Erios' goal.

Erios is making his final stop in Evereska as a last-ditch effort to beseech the Council of Hill Elders for their assistance, though he doesn't hold much hope for success.

Reflected in the bio but not on the crunch until I get home tonight, I've changed Erios' bloodlines from Fey and Elemental to Fey and Arcane.

If you read Akor's bio, he currently has no interest in restoring Myth Drannor. He was traveling to Evereska in order to restore his 'former glory'. It's left intentionally nebulous as to what exactly that was/is.

He would probably jump at the chance to restore his fallen city, but it's not on his immediate 'to do' list.

As for tying our PCs specifically together, perhaps Erios helped Akor escape Myth Drannor?

Wow... This Recruitment is exploding :D

I should have Grond ready tomorrow.

My character does not even believe restoration is possible, he just wants to learn more about his past by going there, something not only discouraged but forbidden by his family.

Monkeygod wrote:

Ah. I had misread "set him on a path to reclaiming his former glory." as "its former glory" and I thought you were referring to MD. I would be okay with helping you escape. MD is kind of far away, but Erios could have been a member of the wandering scout party that found a damn near dead Moon Elf wandering the woods and delicately guided him to Tangled Trees.

As for Pero, how long have you been a Tomb Guardian? And are Tomb Guardians delegated specifically to Evereska sites or might you have been scouting out a potential location at MD or even the Old Elven Court? At MD, you could have been witness to the magical surge which released Akor. Thoughts?

My character would gladly join, his homeland was destroyed not too long ago. While he wasn't alive, the wounds and memories from his people and clan are still fresh.

Trap the Soul forces body and soul into a gemstone, which could easily have been moved around a bit closer to Erios' main 'territory'.

Did the Elven court(either of them) have their own mythal separate from the Myth Drannor one? If so, that's all that's really needed to help free Akor.

Otherwise, we can go with the wandering scout party.

Shadow Lodge

My character would love to study any fragments or writings on the mythal
On the off chance he could find such a thing, it'd set his personal study on the creation of magic items forward by years

Probably over a decade but I did not give much thought to his timeline.

Just Evereska, the Tomb Guardians generally move in groups and he would have stayed with the group except over downtime thus his information gathering attempts at the Halfway Inn.

Unlikely, he knows the dangers and would not travel there alone.

This is really cool but I don't think I have time to create a backstory.

I do find my concept for my halfling great, a small scrapper with bravado to back it up. Skilled at fighting those taller and stealthy, gonna show the elves a thing or two, while proving his worth.

Ok then, Grond is coming along (this will be the alias, just not sure about the Avatar).

His background is in the making, and I will keep writing it as I find the time, but long story short - he fell in love with an elf, and has a loooong way to go to prove himself (and even then there are no guarantees).

Two questions for Dragonofashandflame (apologies if they have been answered but the thread is starting to get LONG :D):

- What languages would make sense for an half-orc bred in Myth Ondath? Grond is intelligent, and I will also drop a rank in Linguistics, so he will have a couple of languages to chose. I would like him to have at least an exotic one, like Draconic or Abyssal, but not sure about the others;

- What is our starting gold. I got a bit confused with the reference to the level 3 gold amount - is that what we have to start with?

Monkeygod wrote:

The Elven Court was moved to Cormanthor after the Dark Court Slaughter and the Mythal created there is why Cormanthor is now known as Myth Drannor - though MD's Mythal has been corrupted for centuries.

Elven Court itself did have its own Mythal as well. And since the Drow and other monsters currently occupy it for the most part, it's easily conceivable that the gemstone was moved to Elven Court and some sort of experiments there are what released you. We still would have guided you back to Tangled Trees for recuperation/rehabilitation though. With the millennia-long war to retake Elven Court still ongoing, the clan probably wouldn't have wanted some mysterious stranger who showed up from the inner ruins hanging around their hidden homestead, potentially stealing secrets and spying on them.

I think as we figure it out I would seek it as a duty to help and to heal. AS she lost her mother figure to some strange disease, surely the height of Elven learning and culture had it cured? As the ancient ones had more knowledge, I could have been picked up and followed you from any of those places, since it would be no secret you are looking for help. I would follow out of the desire to help you, and for the chance of stopping that disease from claiming anymore lives. I could also see me being a distant cousin to someone who was in the old High court, so the only true family relations I could still possibly have might be tied to reading the histories of the old ruins. So knowledge and history, along with helping finally remove the drow. I like the idea of helping out on a quest to reclaim a homeland in Cormanthor. I would think I came from Silverymoon however.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 4) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 5) = 15 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 4) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 3) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 4) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 4) = 12 11
16 point, let's try that again.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 1) = 10 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 1) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 6) = 15 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 5) = 14 9
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 5) = 8 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 3) = 12 11
9 point, next.

4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 4) = 15 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 6) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 1) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 3) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 4) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 6) = 21 18
30 point... Ok!

I have the kernel of a character concept, a half orc appalled by the destruction wrought by his ancestors, seeking to atone for what they did. I'm imagining a gish with shamanic style casting and using his fists in melee. Not entirely sure which class paring to go for, might try something wired like mind blade (but without the blade) spiritualist / X.

In any war, healers are always welcome. If you were to catch Erios within Silverymoon and offer assistance, he wouldn't have turned it away. While it might be more efficient to have another on hand for battle, having someone ready for the aftermath is always worth it.

Shadow Lodge

So excited :D

If I were an army in Golarion, I'd want an entire healer's corps made up entirely of Witches and Shamanic Witch Doctors. They are, for bulk, the best healers in the game. Nothing else can come near them. If you had just 5, they could heal 5d8+5 to every soldier in your army if they just walked down the line and had enough time. A witch or witch doctor is, quite literally, worth their weight in platinum if you are going to war, even a low level apprentice with just one level and one healing hex. And the dice go up as they go up in level.
