Hey Dragon I have a backstory im happy with and I'd love to play, but I wanted to ask a question about class.
Would you allow a Barbarian/Skald? I just want a berserker in battle who shouts at people to rile them up. I know one or two abilities max up and they won't stack im happy with this, I'd also have two rages but are different but wouldn't stack for me.
If not I will just have to think a little harder on picking my other side, I kinda want to stay away from druid(don't want to shift) and hunter(to petty) and ranger just seem to be sticking to my martial on both sides.

Several archetypes of druid remove wild shape
Feral child gets trap sense and bonuses to CMB/CMD instead, (not worth it)Elemental ally replaces wild shape and nature bond with 4 elemental companions (maybe worth it)
Nature fang gets slayer talents (not sure how strong this is)
Survivor gets the trap ability like a trapper ranger (worth it on an archer build)
Alternatively you could go with barbarian or bloodrager/bard and reflavor the bardic performance as you shouting to improve people's moral (just put ranks in oratory or whatever)

How's this backstory?
Viridios Oakwood was born 143 years ago, and raised in Tangled Trees. As a child, he was quick and clever, and often too temperamental and skeptical to play by the rules; but his childhood was otherwise happy and normal for a Wood Elf. Then came the so-called blessing of the Leaflord: Viridios’ skin took the hue and texture of young red oak bark. He found himself disfigured and the other children teased him mercilessly, but the elders honoured him.
He became further alienated when these same elders decided that he should read the Green Book and become a Monk of the Sacred Tree. He began to study the arcane arts, and instantly became a pariah among his people who were generally distrustful of magic. While others played, he studied. While others explored the woods and discovered the wonders of nature, he trained. While others courted and fell in love, he watched from afar.
His adolescence was lonely, and frustrating. Unlike his level-headed kinsmen, he was impetuous, headstrong, and opinionated. His people were distrustful of outsiders and prone to isolation, but he believed that they needed to reach out in order to save the forest. He argued that the people of the Dalelands should be their allies, as should any who would save Cormanthor. He had strong views on right and wrong, and he deemed inaction tantamount to injustice.
No one listened, so he took matters into his own hands when he became an adult. Despite not having finished his training, he began his missions: putting on a wooden mask to conceal his identity, he roamed the forest whenever he could, coming to the aid of any in need, fighting brigands, Drow, and all manner of foul creatures. In Essembra and in the Dalelands, he became known as the Green Man.
A Wood Elf from Tangled Trees, Viridios Oakwood is far from his home in Cormanthor. He is at the Halfway Inn, on his way to Everaska in order to find help to aid in his quest to rid his forest of the evils that desecrate the gifts of Rillifane Rallathil, the Leaflord.
Crunch to come!

Ya that's OK

Chondathan is the most common language in the region. Elven would probably go a long way
Whoops, that's a hold over from building on Hero Lab. Can I replace the default Common with another language, or do I need to put a rank in linguistics to get something beyond Sylvan and Druidic?

Just swap chondathan in for common and you'd be able to talk to people in the region but, you'd need linguistics for anything over int mod bonus

What would be the most popular dead language... like a Latin-type language that lots of old stuff is written in? My character wants to read the old poetry and stories and legends and prophecies, etc.
Would it be Thorass, or would it be one of the others... is there an ancient Elven, or is that still just Elven? :)

Hello, Jereru here presenting Teucer Poltrava, a Human Warpriest/Ranger. Fluff and crunch is in the Alias. Some points to consider:
·He chose Fey as favoured enemy mostly because Dark Fey, a typical forest encounter he might have had in the past. Doesn't make sense to choose things he's never seen before (drow, fiends, etc).
·Many things are easily adaptable in his background, if you feel it's not properly woven. Just have a look and tell. Ask me to elaborate mroe, or whatever you feel like.
·Also, many things are open for you to use and abuse. I've tried not to add many info about things Teucer doesn't know. That way, I as a player will experience the full surprise when he finds out (I know, putting some more work on you, but you can always ignore it). Who was his father? What is this bow? How did he come to have it? What about his mother? He might or might not find out about these things in game.
Hope you like it.

If you have any spots still open, I have never played in the forgotten realms, but I have read on it. I want to play a drow fighter, who will be reformed from evil..... wait wrong place.
I am going with my favorite idea, a rogue cleric, but I will be going for the evanglist from inner sea gods, as I love the idea of a holy rogue spreading love and stealth.
I hate making alias that never get played, so I will have her up and ready if chosen. And I seriously have never played in forgotten realms. I will go with a moon elf though.

Plenty of spots still open, I'm not choosing until next week. It's cool if you don't want to make an alias, make a char and just post as a spoiler.

Awesome. Will have done sunday night, and am working on the backstory now. How do you as the gm like the idea of the rogue cleric? I find some gms hate one of those classes. Or the combo of both

Dragonofashandflame |

I guess I'm asking if its one that would discount me from playing. Like being a gunslinger would, or something like that. I've had a few gms tell me pick something else, which I can do, so I want to make sure I have the best character put forth.
I, honestly, have no issue with the combo.
In another game of mine, a player has a rogue/warpriest PC. it's potent, but not uber.

Just for kicks, I'm thinking of submitting a second character. (Snakebite Striker) Brawler/ (Ancestral Harbinger/Greenrager) Bloodrager Wild Elf.
The concept is that this wild elf clan stayed near the abandoned Old Elven Court ruins after the Dark Court Slaughter of -4400 DR and over the millenia did their best to clear the area of monsters but lacked the manpower to do so and wild elves in general lacked the respect of the other elvish races to request assistance - and honestly, held too little respect for those who abandoned the site to request their assistance anyway.
Now, with their numbers dwindling due to the increased Drow presence near the ruins, Assuming this takes place after the Retreat envoys from the character's clan have been sent out in an attempt to find allies who would be willing to assist with the retaking of Cormanthor's Elven communities (Old Elven Court, Myth Drannor, Semberholme, and the Tangled Trees).

I'll join in on some backstory if it would fit. Would give me a hand to work with since I do not know very much on forgotten realms. would help me learn. I'll go rogue cleric if that helps anyone
who are you a cleric of?
given that I'm going to be playing a warpriestMy character is working (singing) at the Halfway Inn, so if anyone else is working in town, or has already been there, we might have met--you know, the drop-dead gorgeous naiad with the velvety voice that you just can't get out of your head?
heh
that might draw the interest of a dwarf who frequents the bars in the town when not trying to hawk his weapons in the marketplace(charisma of 8 though, so fairly crude sense of humor)

Perhaps you sold me my shortsword, and that is how we met, then? :)
(Charisma 20, and crude humor would probably be more of a reason *not* to know each other.) :)

If you are an elf, she might even be attracted to you. She has a lost elven love that left a hole in her psyche... might be looking to fill it. ... Definitely not a must, but a possibility there. In any case, we would know who each other are, since you are a regular there and I sing there most nights.

Mine is fairly new to the place. If any of you is any kind of scholar or sage, Teucer's might be asking our looking for you.
Nivian is a scholar of sorts, she studies ancient Cormanthyr and many of the songs, stories, and poems she shares at the Inn feature something about the ideals of that lost civilization... if our interests overlap, she would be interested in talking about it.

Thrain is capable of making a masterwork weapon (so long as it is made of metal or stone) on a take ten for 28% market value (he'd probably charge half market value)
as to the sense of humor, I'm still working out what his low cha means RPwise
I might give him facial scars from fires caused by his earlier mistakes

Oh, she can't even come close to affording a masterwork sword. I think max wealth was like 180 gold. Had to buy a regular longbow instead of a composite with a strength bonus. So, just the 10 gold kind. ...But she might hit you up for a discount if she ever gets enough money.

I could see my PC being attracted to her but hesitant about "mixing" as he cares about his lost legacy which is one that sees all other races as inferior though his ACTUAL interaction with races is having an impact on him slowly changing his mind.
