Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Merelda smiles at Cassandra's compliment and blows her a kiss.
"Truer words were never spoken my dear."
Merelda then strokes Cinder's abdomen casually, the giant wasp on her shoulder appearing to rub its chitinous head against her like a cat.
Innis |
"Anger is just another shade of passion and passion my dear is what separates us from the corpses, even those that walk. Embrace your passion wherever it may take you and you will be as The Whirlwind; a force unstoppable." Innis rejoins quite pleased with herself.
GM Aumakua |
Sorry for the late post. I was at a work function for most of the day
Innis, Merelda and Lililinda look over Elleste to get a better idea of how to recreate Innis in the woman's image.
Her strongest feature is definitely her icy blue eyes. You see that her black hair has been short to be fall just at the middle of her neck. Her oval face and slightly pale complexion only go on to further compliment this rather attractive young woman.
You found the following on Elleste and Walter:
a dagger
a wand (radiates magic)
a potion (radiates magic)
assortment of gold and silver rings
a gold and onyx hairpin
gold and ivory earrings
a key
leather armor
shortsword
dagger
a rock
thieves tools
potion (radiates magic)
14 gp
Innis |
Innis will adorn the woman's accessories and let the scholars identify the magic items as she puts the finishing touches on her disguise.
disguise self: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 + 10 + 4 = 31
as the magical portion (the +10) is limited in time she'll cast the spell when the team is ready to move through the door.
She takes a moment to examine a peculiar item found on their fallen foes a seemingly mundane rock. She'll offer the other's a quizzical look as she has no insight on the matter.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Lililinda |
Lililinda does her best to help out, inexperienced as she is with copying someone else's sense of style. "Can you believe she actually wore this dress? It is so last year."
Disguise, untrained, to assist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"A rock?" Lililinda will take a close look at the item.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Appraise: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
GM Aumakua |
Just to make sure we are all on the same page.
1.The door is locked and Nicias is unable to open it.
2. Elleste is alive but unconscious.
3. Items still need to be identified
Nicias catches a glimpse of the rock immediately recognizing it even as his mouth is agape at Innis' transformation to look like the unconscious mage.
"That's a..a..thunderstone. Look at the substance of the rock."
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Spellcraft(Wand): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 2 = 16
Spellcraft(Potion): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 = 11
Spellcraft(Potion): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26
Lililinda, can you appraise the other items and make sure to see if any of them are Masterwork items, and get the general value too for the jewelry?
GM Aumakua |
One potion Merelda is able to determine as a potion of cure light wounds. Nicias discerns that the other potion is identical to the one that Merelda identified. 2 cure light potions (L1) add to the list and indicate who is carrying these.
Nicias: Craft Alchemy (Potion): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Innis |
Innis will investigate the room with the locked door, chance the key she with little hope of it actually working and offer Nicias her and Kirzon's magical aid if she does not find any further clues on how to proceed.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
we didn't "loot" the to other fallen thugs and the horde of zombie IIRC
GM Aumakua |
No you didn't check the other corpses in this room. To attempt what you are trying Nicias will need to Take 20. Innis you will need to use your Blessing of the Faithful for 20 rounds while Kirzon then uses his guidance for each attempt. Will you proceed?
You make your way back to the room and Nicias gets into a comfortable position as he begins to examine the lock again. "This is a tricky lock it's going to take awhile.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Merelda pulls her cloak's hood over her head and sort-a 'disappears' into the corner, cursing softly about how long this process was taking...
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 5 = 20
GM Aumakua |
The key you found on Elleste does not work on this door.
It takes about two minutes but you finally hear CLICK as the tumblers fall into place announcing the door is unlocked.
Nicias wipes his brow and smiles your way. "After you mi'lady. and moves out of the way for Innis now disguised as Elleste to enter.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
With the addition of two fighters in the group, Merelda decides to change tactics. Putting away her rapier, she draws her hand crossbow and loads a bolt in it, taking up the group's rear defense. She does her best to keep an eye on the group and their back-trail, her movements slow and stealthy but are without hesitation.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
After requesting help from Innis, Kirzon takes a look at the wand.

"Looks like a stick o' wood ta me!" he announces.
He hands the item off to Lililinda for her consideration.
Otherwise, he and Boros carry on forward, though Kirzon seems to be feeling pretty worn out by the burdens of the day. "Ya know what ah could use right 'bout now? A tall mug o' ale."
Lililinda |
Lililinda follows along behind, absorbed in the items people have been giving her.

GM Aumakua |
Keeping herself immersed in all the various trinkets and knick knacks that the group sends her way she finds out that the dagger is indeed a finely crafted item (i.e. masterwork). The other items appear to be regular items.
Handing over the items to Kirzon the group finds that the next room is opulently furnished. The room contains a pair of plush divans, a mahogany dining table with two matching chairs, and a rug crafted from a huge white-furred bear.
A wooden shelf along the south wall holds a collection of books, folios, and tomes, and under the shelf sits a stout wooden cabinet.
Silk tapestries cover each of the walls and an exquisitely crafted green marble statue of a naked nymph stands partially embedded into the center of the north wall.
GM Aumakua |
Map updated. Amigail's token added. As before gold triangles point to a new door.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Smirking at the large statue 'embedded' in the wall, Merelda points.
"That's a little obvious, isn't it?"

While the rest of you file into the chamber Nicias guards the rear in armed with his bow should anyone else try to sneak up on them.
Innis and Lililinda move over to the southern wall to investigate the shelf of books. You see the subject matter is fairly diverse containing tomes related to history, politics, art, religion, arcane theory, etc.). There is another one that particularly catches both of your notice it is a thin snakeskin-bound ledger without a title.
Cassandra sets up in the middle of the room so she can see both doors while Amigail and Kirzon each head for a door.
Merelda moves up to examine the statue and is about to look for a lever that might reveal a secret door when she is forced to stumble back as the statue aggressively moves towards her. Taking her by surprise the statue's claws rakes her against her abdomen. Merelda take 6 points of damage
Surprise Round: Kirzon and Boros get one action.
Kirzon |
Kirzon spins in reaction to the nearby movement, even before the animated statue strikes Merelda. "Damn statue's 'live!" he cries, quite startled.
Knowledge (arcana)? to identify it: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
In the meantime, Boros has no trouble slithering sideways a bit to get behind the statue before he strikes.
Bite: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20; Damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Grab: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Collcting his wits quickly, Kirzon tries a swing of his own while Boros tries to clamp down on the sculpture.
Battleaxe: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6
Swinging at statues was surprisingly harder than swinging at trees.

Lol it seems your fortune follows your character regardless the table :) Merelda and you will become steadfast friends haha
GM Aumakua |
Merelda informs the group as the battle rages that the construct is:
• somewhat resistant to all weapons 0-5 hp DR
• nearly immune to all magic immune to any spell or spell-like ability that allows spell resistance
• has some vulnerability to transmute rock to mud and stone to flesh spells
Cassandra Leigh |
The awakening of the column and it's attack was not a good thing. Cassandra knew that such things would be hard to hurt, that went without reason, but she also knew that she needed to do what she could against it. Already in a good place Cassandra struck with her glaive, putting as much power behind the blow as she could, in the hopes of damaging the thing.

GM Aumakua |
Amigail tries to slam the construct with her shield but fails to catch as it awkwardly moves out of the way.
Cassandra does her best to attack the construct but it also dodges this attack.
Nicias pulls out his shortbow and gets ready to send an arrow at the statue.
Innis begins to softly chant calling upon the power of her spiteful patroness.
Kirzon/Boros and Lililinda to act.
Merelda to follow into Round 2.
Kirzon |
Kirzon takes a chance - he opens the door behind him and steps through it, then casts a spell to make Boros's bite acidic. The dwarf really hopes he doesn't stumble into another set of enemies. Move action open door, 5-foot step, then standard action Acid Maw.
Boros tries to clamp down on the statue once more.
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26; Damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Acid Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Crit?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11; Damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Grab: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
The acid etches into the statue, giving Boros a better grip as he attempts to coil around it.
GM Aumakua |
Kirzon forces open the door and conjures forth a spell to aid Boros. Immediately acid begins dripping from Boros' fangs and as it clamps its teeth on the leg of the column you watch the acid slowly burn away some of the marble body of the caryatid column. Quickly Boros begins to wrap itself around the column.
Kirzon turns his attention to the room behind the door.
You see in the southeast corner of the room a Plump and middle-aged, with a pig-like nose and dark beady eyes, She wears tight-fitting leather armor, a flashy embroidered robe, gaudy jewelry, and an ill fitting blond wig in a vain attempt to cling to her lost youth.
Surprised to see you she stands motionless with her hands out in front of her, almost as if surrendering peacefully.
Lililinda your up.

Switching tactics, Merelda can't help but snipe Lillilinda for her comments.
"What did you expect: Demons and devils with magic resistance? Or maybe a slime or pudding creature you can't charm?"
Dropping her hand crossbow, she grabs her whip, shakes it loose and tries to use it to trip the construct!

Undeterred by its current predicament the statue lashes out against Boros, but the grip of the snake stops it from making an effective attack.
There is something that just does not feel right and you are lucky that you listened to your gut because from out of nowhere a gladius flies by you. The blade you noticed definitely came from the direction of the woman however she still stands there with her hands up never having made any motions.
Roll me a d20 please Kirzon. I'll add the modifiers don't worry :)
