Sorry for being late but I had stuff to do.Morskitter will be ready in a few hours ,then its up to ou to review the changes.I'll try to mark them as clear as possible to speed up the process.I can face Arian when thats done.
Rumples is not a very good goblin. He nearly had a pony, he prescribes to notions such as honor, and he even uses apostrophes. If you're actually concerned, all player characters are automatically literate as far as I know, and what better way to intimidate a goblin than WORDS :D
Elik looks up from a book and says Eh?! Did someone say something? He holds up an ear horn and says Sorry?! You need to speak up sonny, these old ears ain't what they used to be.
OH YOU WANT TO CHALLENGE ELIK? Well why don't you go ask him then?....what do you mean I'm Elik? Are you sure? Oh yes here it is written on my hand...oh well in that case then I accept! I shall meet thee on the field of your choice!...and by field I mean sandy dirt pit!...and by your choice I mean the master of the pits!
Even if I lose I'm having way too much fun playing this guy to stop lol.
I would, but like you said, you just had a challenge match so you can't be challenged.
You see, that's what happened to me with Arian and I had to wait 3 weeks to get another match. I know people were against my proposal, and I agree that for most circumstances we shouldn't be allowed back to back challenges. But for this case, I think an exception should be made.
And what I mean is, if your last match was a challenge match and then you are the odd man out of randomizations (meaning, you submitted everything and were ready but the luck of the dice kept you out of the randomized fights), the "no two consecutive challenge" rule should be waived for you. Otherwise, not only do you have to sit there and wait for all of the randomizations to be done, but you then have to wait for all of the subsequent challenge matches to finish before you get a match, and now you're talking about waiting almost a month in between matches.
If people (especially those who have only one gladiator in the arena) want to play but have to wait a super long time in between matches, our participation will drop off. I think our goal (besides having fun) should be to try to encourage people to join and want to play. And really, what's the drawback to allowing Ritti a challenge match right now?
Our numbers are declining. Let's do what we can to get them back up.
So maybe this is the exception to the rule. If a glad was ready for randomized fights but was the odd-man-out (or had some other legitimate reason why they weren't availalble/allowed to fight), then they are allowed to run in the challenge matches.
Well, that possibility already really exists, and I don't think this rule change exacerbates it. For example, your first match is randomized and you lose. Now you're 0-1 with no VP. Now you win a challenge, win a random, win a challenge. Same thing, you know?
Perhaps we should just set up randomizations more often? Meaning if there are two people sitting around both able to fight, they just get randomized up together. This certainly makes fights more frequent, and also gives less choice of opponent.
I'm down with more fights, but I do think the VP system needs an overhaul. I'm not trying to change everything since I know you explored a lot of these issues in the play testing, but look at the bottleneck we already have with level 3/4. It's just going to get worse as the top fighters get higher and higher. I'm really enjoying this arena. I don't want to see it die off, so I really want to make sure we encourage participation and perseverance.
To that end, I think that each level should require 9 VP to advance to the next level. A win gets 3 points, tie gets 2 points, and loss (where you fight to the end) gets 1 point. If you have to forfeit due to arena freeze, you get 0 points (or even minus 3 points or whatever). I know one of the points is to test what builds are effective at all levels, but people can still keep track of overall records if they're worried about that. And even if you're undefeated in EVERY match (unlikely), it'll still take 51 matches to get to level 20. That takes a long time. Throw in some scenario fights and/or team battles that are "exhibition matches" and you can still run one gladiator for a LONG time.
Again, not trying to change everything. I just see participation waning and I think we should reward perseverance and participation. People are going to get discouraged if they keep losing, so let's give them an incentive to stick with their characters and not scrap them in frustration.

Question about concealment and total concealment for the Arbiters resulting from Pit Seven. If someone is in total concealment and then stealths, they get the bonus to stealth like any other invisible combatant correct? Here is the real question though, if the enemy gets within 5' of them in an obscuring mist, do they still get the +20 for being totally concealed when they are in just regular concealment at that point?
I don't think you gain the bonus as the section on consealment specifies that Invsibility grants the bonus, not consealment itself. Consealment itself only provides a miss chance.
