The Pathfinder Pits

Game Master Jehova

This is a place for pit fighters to relax and enjoy one another's company before and after the brutal murder goes down. Here pit fighters may unwind, have actual conversations, attempt risky gene-splicing 'enhancements' to steeds, and much more.

The Pits offer library facilities, laboratories, sparring areas, kitchens, gardens, empty rooms, hot springs, massage parlors, and virtually any other place one might want to spend one's time whilst not preoccupied with killing and/or dying.

One of the most popular areas during downtime is the Equipment Testing Facility, where combatants may make use of the near-infinite resources possessed by The Pits in order to mess around with some of the most powerful items available on Golarion. Ever wanted to find out what it feels like to fire a +4 Thundering Flaming Menacing Glorious Double Hackbut? Now you can! In the E.T.F., characters may mess around (or even fight one another) using whatever resources they wish. It should be noted that the E.T.F. does not have access to Artifacts.

Any harm (or benefit) that comes to a character (or to their gear) during downtime will remain until his or her next fight, at which point all changes to the status quo will be undone.

The only true restriction on pit fighters during downtime is that they are not permitted to leave the facility for any reason.

Go nuts, but keep it in character.

Male

Who's ready to fight.

Male Half-Elf

Kailin, leaning motionless against a wall, with Sunahl close at his side, glances over towards Falcon at the words. He makes no other motion to engage in conversation, but the sinuous dragon stretches, arching his back like a cat, and walks a bit closer.

"I would say we're ready for a fight. Perhaps good for you, since I believe I heard you're to be our opponent, in fact," he says in a smooth voice. He glances over the man, sizing him up. "I must say, you don't strike the most imposing figure though," the dragon adds with a smirk, and rears up on his hind legs, putting them more closely at eye level (or taller? Falcon doesn't sound very tall from his description), and placing his face closer to Falcon's.

Though not a particularly threatening gesture, he cocks his head to the side, eyeing the man to gauge his reaction.

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno spends his time before his first real fight in the Pits doing his best to groom Esmeralda, but only succeeds in making more knots in her coarse, shaggy coat. Eventually he gives up with a curse. He tosses the brush into a rusty pail that must be his grooming bucket and proceeds to saddle Esmeralda.

"you having trouble there dwarf?"

Durgrosh have problem like that with his hair. Need butter from peanuts and smooth right out. He holds a hand to his heavy black matted hair and shows how incredibly not smooth it is.

"..If his ... idea, doesn't work try a bath

Zouh looks at Durgrosh in a meaningful manner..
"you don't have any oger in you do you?"

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Heh, that one? Bruno sniffs at Durgrosh smells like nuts t'me. I look for'd to turning' him t' butter!
Bruno stalks around behind Esmeralda and tries to 'act normal' while hiding an experimental peanut butter rub on a particularly rough patch of furr. He fails.

" You know, there are real things you can use to clean your... mount"
Zouh pulls a small round box out of his robs and holds it out to the Dwarf.

" Try this, at least your camel wont smell like a meal"

Durgrosh looks over at Zouh and says No Ogre, just haunch of lamb, 30 pieces of bacon, 10 pints of beer, venison, 4 helpings of meat pies, 3 roast pigs, and an apple. A light lunch cause I watching weight.

"..Do you like stories Durgrosh? I know one you might like..."

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno takes the box with a nod and cracks it open. Esmeralda's responce is immidiate. She groans and spits with surprising accuracy, knocking the box from Bruno's hand.
Bruno bursts into a roaring fit of laughter. I guess me lady here don' like ye cleaning box, laddie! He attempts to continue saddling through the laughing and tears.

"..being clean isn't for everyone I suppose.. though it can bring balance in its on way."

The entrance doors swing open, bright light beaming in, lighting the darkened corridors once more.

It's a fairly tall, chain and shackled human man. Dark hair, brown eyes and long flowing hair can be seen. He has a few good scars but his looks seem good enough to counter any negative points that would detract from his appearance.

Accompanying him appears to be a man of wealth, and within this man's hands are two small swords.

The wealthy man who looks of some importance speaks at the slave he escorts; I have spent time on refining your abilities and have paid good money for you, so fight well for my cause and prove to me that you have been a worthy transaction. I would not have my name tainted because of some petty slaves disobedience.

The wealthy man looks the slave in the face, regardless of the fact the slave shows little emotion while looking to the ground, seemingly hanging his head in shame.

Do this for me, and perhaps one day I will return the favour, by granting your freedom.

Still staring at the ground, the slave responds. Yes, Dominus.

Walking to one of the guards, the wealthy man hands over the two swords and says quietly but assertively Make sure Vironus only has these in the arena, before handing the weapons over and heading back over to the slave.

You'll be here for a while and when the time is right, I will let people know you fight for me and come to watch you in your battles when you have sufficient fame.

The wealthy man unchains and unshackles Vironus, continuing his speech.

You will have your own room here, and this Arena also provides a spacious training ground, which I highly advise you use regularly if you're to become a 'God' of the Arena, says the man of wealth with an arrogant and malicious tone.

As the slave is freed, the wealthy man violently pulls him towards himself, before whispering something into his ear.

DC20 Perception Check:

Do not take me for a fool and f*** me on this.

Still with the same blank expression, the slave says As you wish, Dominus, before the wealthy man leaves through the same large doors he originally entered from.

With his Dominus gone, Vironus looks around and heads for the training area to practice his fighting techniques with the wooden swords and dummy's available.

Elinora looks up from the book she was silently enjoying, and regards Vironus with all the interest of one regarding an ant. She turns her gaze to the wealthy man.

"Excellent! You brought a servant. For a moment I thought I would have to fetch some refreshments for myself."

She looks back at Vironus dismissively, snapping instructions at him and returning to her book without waiting for a reply. "A glass of wine. And be quick about it."

Vironus glares at the woman with a fearsome look, before continuing to his destination.

Zouh, notices the slave as well, while not as curt or dismissive as the well read woman, Zouh is not pleased by a slave being a part of this.

' You there, chain child, what are you doing here?"

Currently? Walking he says in a well spoken voice, with a hardened grin on his face.

"If you are content as a slave, you are caging yourself, find your balance and the cage falls away. There is no point in killing a caged creature."

Zouh's tone is steady but not kind.
" Leave your cage or you will be nothing but rain upon dirt in the arena floor"

Lie contents herself with sharpening her scimitar, honing its edge to perfection and past and examining it in the light as she plucks a single dark hair and drops it upon the edge nodding to herself as it falls in tow pieces.

Liane, level 4

On her way to Pearl nest, Liane pass by Esmerelda's stall. "My...she is really as dirty as they said.", she says with a wink. "Do you need help grooming her. I would not want Pearl to get ill if she ever bites her."

Doging a glob of spit, she adds to Bruno. "I really don't like hurting animals. So I'll make sure not to hurt her too much. But I don't have issues with dwarves. Aren't you the lucky one?"

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno eyes the lady steely. Pearl? What kind o' name is Pearl? Ye want people to remember ye, lady. Naming' yer partner Perl is a step in th' wrong d'rection. As for her other insults, Bruno shrugs them off. He pats Esmeralda's shaggy neck and feigns whispering, I think she be scarred.

Liane, level 4

"I should be, seeing what you did in this arena.", replies the diminutive halfling, laughing heartily at Bruno's comment: "And it comes from someone whose camel is named Esmeralda..."

"But I was serious when I offered to help you groom her. Even if she likes being filthy, you should not indulge her. If you prefer, I'll give you a hand when we're done, whatever happens in the arena."

Durgrosh, having been engrossed in watching the various interactions, finally turns to Zouh after realizing what he had said. Stories?! Yes! Durgrosh love stories! Have lots of pictures right?!

I am no common slave. I am a Gladiator of House Leyeera. I have killed many to get here and will kill many more if that is the only way I can earn my freedom. Says Vironus in response to the monks wording, just as he heads into the training area.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Zouh, ignores Vironus in favor of Durgrosh's interest int "stories"

"Some time ago there was a knight, or a man who once was a knight. His name was Abard Hume. Abard was travelling with a caravan when one night it was beset by goblins and ogres, and short battle ensued thanks to some of the other members of the caravan... Now this is the important part of the story, there was an ogre named Grokosh, and he was captured by Abard. Abard had fallen since his days as a knight and now he began to torture Grokosh, not asking any questions simply torturing Grokosh, before he could start gathering information the ogre escaped his bonds and Abard was forced to kill him with nothing other then a small dagger he carried on his waste....."

Zouh looks at Durgrosh, cocks his head to the side and asks,

"Do you think Grokosh had a family?"

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Grokosh no have family because him obviously too weak to survive in ogre family. Him let human capture and kill him so he weak which mean him not have family. Durgrosh have big strong family! Have 10 sisters and 19 brothers but them dumb! Not smart like Durgrosh!

Zouh smiles at this answer.

"Perhaps you are right, but perhaps you underestimate the man, even rain can bring down the mighty mountain, and only one grain of rice may tip the balance."

If I post here, will it add the thread to my campaigns on my profile? Let's see...

Male Half-Elf

No response from Falcon before our fight starts? :<

As the call goes around for gladiators to take their places in the Pits, Sunahl glances away then looks back to Falcon, before returning to all fours. "Well, guess we're ready to start, hmm?" he asks.

Kailin pushes off the wall and starts walking, sparing only the most trace of glances towards their opponent as he goes. Sunahl, on the other hand, dips his head in a courteous nod, and falls into step beside his Summoner, as the two head to begin their fight.

Walking in from his first loss, Vironus is bitter about dying in such a dishonourable way, so early on without even the chance to fight.

He marches over to the Arena Shop, angered that his years of training had not helped him in this fight, and purchases a Tower Shield, just so he can survive entering the Arena.

This is not like any arena I have ever fought in before. There is no honour, and so I have to do things differently from now on.

Zouh enters once again his cloths bloodied but the man well enough alive.

After two losses back to back the man seems to be unworried, his spirits high.

Zouh finds a nice quite corner and begins a series of mundane tasks, shaving his head and face, and practicing balancing acts while his cloths dry after a good scrubbing.

"Find balance, in loss and gain. A new day brings peace again."

Bruno Bullrush: Smelly Dwarf astride a smelly camel. Win:2 Loss:6 Rep: 3

Bruno stalks into the weapons shop sputtering and rubbing his neck. He carries a stack of paper in his left hand. On each page are crude hand drawings of what look like winged half-demon halflings.
He immidiately starts experimenting with different ranged weapons, insisting that a picture be put over each bully's eye.

Male Half-Elf

Kailin steps out of the medical ward (or whatever we call the place that patches us up) and stretches, testing his recovery. Sunahl stands beside him already, his summoning having been one of the first things Kailin completed upon waking.

They move through the halls in silence until they locate Falcon, at which point Kailin approaches and dips his head. "An excellent match. You're stronger than I would have expected at first glance," the half-elf says, while Sunahl nods his head in agreement. "I'll look forward to the next time we face each other in the arena," he finishes, before turning to go.

If Falcon's got a response of some sort, feel free to post it. Otherwise, the two will wander off, probably to train or browse items that might avoid such outcomes in the future ;)

Male

Falcon is hurting pretty bad, if it weren't for his suit he would be passed out. It's all that is holding him together at the moment.

You fought well, I really thought you had me there, it was an honor and a good learning experience. Take this as a sign of respect - I'd rather not fight you again for awhile.

With that Falcon goes to get some medical attention so he can shed his eidolon armor without passing out. After that he prepares for his future matches.

Male Elf

Vatale stumbles in after his first fight. One hand holds Gyllir's reigns while the other is pressed to his gut. Instead of going to medical ward he heads to the stable. Taking off Gyllir's barding and saddle with one hand he gives her a full brushing. Once this is complete he drags himself to the medical ward, on the way his hand slips and some intestines fall out but he pushes them back in.

A muscular half elf walks into the arena, wearing ornate armor with a bandolier of vials slung over it, but seemingly carrying no weapons. He cracks his massive knuckles and smiles, revealing red-stained teeth.

Looks like I'm in the right place.

Female Half-elf Pistolero Gunslinger 3

A Fairly tall Humanoid figure strolls into the arena, large hat lain low over her eyes and coat fluttering in the wind. No visible weapons are on her body and she simply walks over to a large pole and leans Agilent it, a splash of green hair being seen but rest of her features covered.

"Gonna be a fun day, I can feel it in my bones~"
